Rumi snarled as the piece of human shit named Oscar waved at Cassandra. There was no need for anyone to explain their relationship, Rumi knew the moment she saw Cassandra's terrified expression. Rumi had seen that look of terror many times before when she rescued someone from an abusive relationship. It was a look that described their situation better than a thousand words could.

Planting her feet, Rumi gave a silent apology to Izuku then launched herself at the grinning Oscar. Tackling the American to the ground, Rumi grabbed his shirt collar and roughly pulled him up so she could shout in his face.

"You worthless piece of shit!" She yelled. "You have two seconds to explain why you are here before you are choking on your own teeth!"

With a shit-eating grin plastered on his face, Oscar chuckled. "I am just helping my sister out is all. Some guy has been attacking her right? Well I already caught him, I left him tied up in the hotel basement. A little worse for wear, but he is alive."

His reptilian eyes narrowing, Oscar suddenly grabbed Rumi's wrists and slowly peeled her hands off his collar with surprising strength. "You better be careful bitch." He whispered so only Rumi could hear. "Next time you touch me I wont be so nice." He said as he licked his jagged teeth.

Before Rumi could do anything she found herself being pulled off of Oscar by a concerned Izuku.

"He isn't worth it Miruko." The green-haired man said. "He gets his kicks pissing people off, the best thing you can do is ignore him."

Her lip curling in disgust as Oscar sneered at her, Rumi just barely resisted the urge to walk over and stomp his face in. If Izuku had not been there to calm her down there definitely would have been blood spilled right then and there.

Slowly getting to his feet and dusting himself off, Oscar smiled at Izuku and glanced over at Cassandra who was being protected by an enraged Costan. "Good man Mido. Keep your attack rabbit on a nice short leash."

Rumi nearly launched herself at Oscar again, but her partner put himself between the two and held out a hand to keep Rumi back.

"Oscar you're lucky that I am not arresting you right now." Izuku said in a warning tone. "The only reason you are not in handcuffs is because I know you would never lie about your accomplishments."

Nodding sagely, Oscar gave Izuku a polite round of applause. "Always the level-headed one Mido." Oscar then tilted his head so he could fix his unnerving stare on the trembling Cassandra. "Now if you don't mind, I would like to have a word with my dear little sister."

Rumi was about to yell in outrage but was stopped when she saw the dark look that briefly appeared on Izuku's face.

It was the kind of look one had right before they murdered someone they hated.

But as soon as it had appeared the dark look vanished, and Izuku's face returned to it's standard expressionless mask.

"You know that there is no way in hell I am leaving you alone with her." Izuku stated coldly. "Anything you have to say to her you can say right here."

Oscar sighed in disappointment but shrugged uncaringly. "Have it your way Mido. Though I would prefer we have a little privacy." He then fixed his emotionless eyes on the two security guards who had been watching the scene unfold like two patrons at an opera house.

Realizing that Oscar was talking about them, the two guards stumbled over each other as they scurried away to the elevator.

"We're gonna go check the basement boss." The talkative guard said weakly right before the elevator doors closed.

An oppressive silence filled the air as Oscar stood in the hallway while Rumi and Izuku blocked the doorway to the hotel room. Cassandra and her manager stood silently in the hotel room entryway, the squat badger-headed man chomping on his cigar angrily as he kept Cassandra behind him.

Softly clearing his throat, Oscar began speaking to Cassandra like nothing had ever happened. "So, how are you doing Annie?"

Seemingly mustering up all her courage to speak to her childhood abuser, Cassandra straightened up and glared at Oscar with nothing but hate and revulsion in her eyes. "My name is Cassandra, and you can go to hell Oscar. How dare you act like all those years of abuse never happened!"

Tilting his head slightly like a dog not understanding a command, Oscar gave Cassandra a confused look. "You still think I did that because I wanted to? I did that to protect you."

Letting out a disbelieving laugh, Cassandra yelled in despair as tears flowed from her eyes. "Protect me?! You beat and degraded me every single fucking day! I used to love you! Why did you turn into such a fucking monster!?"

Oscar sighed like a disappointed teacher and shook his head in disappointment. "Poor little Annie, always one step behind." Smiling in a deranged fashion, Oscar gestured around him. "Would you have gotten to a place like this if I had coddled you and pretended everything would be okay? No, you would be a worthless piece of human garbage still taking care of dad to this day because you could never stand up to him. I put you through hell to make you take your life into your own hands."

Rumi felt like she was about to throw up as she listened to Oscar's twisted logic. It would have been sad and pathetic if he was a normal person, but the CIA agent had clearly ceased to be a normal person a long time ago.

Cassandra's voice cracked as she spoke tearfully, every pained word a piece of her heart breaking for her twisted brother. "We could have run away together Oscar!" She sobbed. "You didn't have to throw away your soul to save me!"

Rolling his eyes, Oscar made a disgusted sound as Cassandra sobbed quietly. "Oh spare me the bullshit Annie. If we had both run away what do you think would have happened? Dad would have gotten all of his cop buddies together and found us before we could even leave the state. One of us needed to stay behind and keep dad occupied while the other escaped, and what kind of brother would I be if I let my little sister suffer just so I could be free?"

Rumi felt like she had just eaten a rotten fruit, the broken logic behind Oscar's words making it all to clear that he was too far gone to be saved.

"But it's okay!" Oscar said with manic glee as he gestured proudly at his sister. "Look at you! International music sensation! I even got into the CIA! It all worked out. So don't be sad Annie, be happy that my plan worked!" The deranged American grinned and lowered his voice like he was sharing a scandalous secret. "Plus with you out of the way I could finally get rid of dad. Don't worry though, I made sure he suffered plenty."

Suddenly Izuku spoke up with a wary look on his face. "Oscar, I understand that you had a rough childhood, but answering hate with hate never solves anything. You have spent your entire life abusing and killing others, don't you think it is time to stop? You need professional help. Why don't you take a vacation to sort yourself out?"

Oscar was silent for a moment as he stared blankly at Izuku with his dead eyes. Suddenly the caucasian man's shoulders began to shake. Tilting his head back, Oscar let laughter bubble out from his throat like he had just heard a hilarious joke.

Rumi didn't know what was so funny, but she had gone up against plenty of insane villains who had laughed in the exact same way. Usually when someone tried to get them to see the error of their ways.

His cackling laughter bouncing off the hotel walls, Oscar's amusement slowly petered out as he wiped a tear of laughter from his eye.

"Fucking christ Mido, I didnt know you were a comedian." The deranged man said as the last few chuckles left his system.

Composing himself, Oscar waved away Izuku's concern. "Don't you think I tried that Mido? I tried praying to god for deliverance every time my dad beat me bloody with jumper cables. I tried to reason with the old bastard every time he locked me in the moldy basement. I tried talking to adults that were supposed to protect me. But nothing. ever. worked."

Spreading his arms out wide like he was revealing some world-shattering truth, Oscar spoke with such certainty that it was clear he was broken beyond repair.

"That's when I realized that if God doesn't exist, then everything is permissible. The universe doesn't care what happens to me, or to you, or to the billions of people on this planet. It won't hear us cry out. It won't shed a tear when we are gone. Humanity doesn't even register on the cosmic scales. You have to understand Mido, that what I do isn't abuse. It isn't murder. It isn't torture. It just...is."

Rumi felt a cold shiver run down her spine as she tried to figure out how such a man could be so twisted, and why his words felt so familiar.

Finally, it clicked.

She had heard a speech like this before.

From Tomura Shigaraki, the leader of the Paranormal Liberation Front, the dark successor to All-For-One.

Oscar may do things in the name of the greater good, but he was doing it for all the wrong reasons.

As Cassandra sobbed silently and sagged against her manager, Oscar let out a satisfied huff and nodded to himself.

"Well I think my job is done here." He said casually. "I got to reconnect with my little sister and save her from a shapeshifting assassin. Yup, just another day in the life of a hero."

Rumi wanted to spit in disgust and tell Oscar exactly why he was the complete opposite of a hero, but Izuku's calming hand gently gripped her wrist as he silently shook his head.

Better to let Oscar keep living in his fantasy than try to force him to see the truth.

With a friendly wave goodbye, Oscar walked away to the elevators and disappeared from sight.

Immediately, Izuku went over to the distraught Cassandra and gently helped her to her feet as Rumi awkwardly stood by silently.

"I am so sorry Cassandra." Izuku said quietly. "I can't even imagine what you must be going through. The important thing is you are safe. Just take it easy the next few days. You have my number, so if Oscar ever shows up again I am one phone call away."

Wiping the tears from her puffy eyes, Cassandra nodded weakly and let herself be guided to her room by her manager.

The hotel room door closed, leaving Rumi and Izuku alone in the silent hallway.

Awkwardly fiddling with her metallic arm, Rumi spoke up as Izuku wearily ran a hand through his hair.

"Well that was really fucked up." She said bluntly.

"No shit." Izuku said in agreement.

The two were silent for a few more moments before Izuku let out a soft sigh and straightened out his suit jacket. "Alright I guess the job is done. It didn't go exactly the way I thought it would, but I guess we can call this one a win...sort of."

Nodding glumly, Rumi followed Izuku back to the elevators and waited as the green-haired agent pressed the button to summon one of the metal boxes.

"You hungry?" The handsome agent suddenly asked.

Caught off guard, Rumi nodded slightly. "Kinda, I didn't really have a big breakfast."

As the elevator doors opened, Izuku spoke in a slightly warmer tone.

"I know a good place to get lunch if you wanna go? My treat."

Feeling a small smile tug at the edges of her lips, Rumi followed Izuku into the elevator and subtly moved closer to him so she could gently hold onto the cuff of his jacket.

"I would like that." She said quietly. "Thanks Izuku."

Glancing over, Rumi was happy to see a slight blush on her partner's face as he replied.

"No problem...Rumi."
