I read the text from Tori for what seemed like the hundredth time.

Jade, I'm sorry but we're not working out. I want to break up with you. Whatever we were, it was a mistake. Please don't ever contact me again.

What the fuck? Vega had been missing for over twenty four hours, had her phone turned off all the way, and I get this all of a sudden?

We were a mistake? Did she deliberately go missing after asking me out because she had been thinking of dumping me all this while?

But it doesn't make any sense. She wrote me songs basically declaring her love for me, then sends me this?

Why would she do this unless she's toying with me?

Would she do this to me?

I gripped hard onto the steering wheel, slamming my head against it, as red hot lava coursed through my veins.

No. Tori won't do this to me. These past few months couldn't have been fake. Our relationship and feelings for each other are real. The way her face lights up whenever she sees me. The songs she wrote for me. Yerba. All those time we spent together after that. All these can't be just pretend, especially since Vega is such a lousy actress.

This can only mean that someone is doing this to hurt her, to hurt us. And that person has Tori right now. Who would do that?

Before I could think of anyone, my phone rang. I picked it up from the floor of my car to see Tori's dad name flashing on the screen. "Mr Vega?"

"Jade, did you find receive any messages from Tori? I just got one, and both Trina and Holly just confirmed with me they got the same text."

"Why would she send that she wants to break up with me to all of you?" My brows furrowed, suddenly unsure of what was going on.

"What? She sent you that?"

"Yes. What did Tori send to you all?"

"She… messaged us that she is sorry for everything, and goodbye to all of us."

My heart thumped painfully in my chest. "What?"

"I'll get my colleagues to look out for her at bridges, cliffs and lakes. You should go home and rest, Jade. You've been out for at least twenty four hours."

"I'm ok, Mr Vega. You take care too."

Did Tori send all these messages because she wants to off herself? But André said she was really happy recently, and I can't think of anything I've done to upset her. Neither did she say anything unusual to me on Friday when we were at her house, her laying her head on my lap as we watched CSI on the couch together. I know she's upset about her parents, but she seemed really hopeful about the Pear store job and even "persuaded" me to go to therapy together with her. Why would she do that if she intends to kill herself?

No. Some fucker must have kidnapped her. And this fucker has taken Tori's phone, or is forcing her to use it to send messages to me that she's breaking up with me and to her family that she is leaving all of us. We need to find her as fast as possible before this bastard do anything to her.

With renewed determination, I drove out of the parking lot to the nearest Jet Brew for their largest cup of coffee.
