|STAR WARS|

It is a period of civil war. The REBEL ALLIANCE is

composed of many cells of Rebels working together

to stop the Empire, although some share little else.

One such Rebel cell is responsible for the Mirialan

Sector. That cell, formerly lead by YOMA RESE,

before her death on a mission to the Imperial Base

on one of Mirial's moons, is now led by the

former Jedi Padawan, and Temple Bomber BARRISS OFFEE.

The Intelligence Department of the Mirialan Resistance,

lead by EZOHA RAH, has produced a report for their leader,

of the best places to attack in the Mirialan Sector...

Mirial, Mirialan Resistance Base, 1 BBY

"Here is the list of the the best targets in the sector to attack, ma'am. Intel just analyzed the data." says Ezoha Rah, Chief of Intelligence for the Mirialan Resistance. He is a Mirialan like the rest of the cell is on this rocky, cold and dry world known as Mirial. He hands Barriss a data chip. She takes it and puts it on her gray desk.

"Thank you, Ezoha. I will consult with the Cabinet* about this tonight. May the Force be with you." says Barriss Offee. Barriss is wearing a version of the outfit she often wore in the Clone Wars, complete with hood.

"And with you too, ma'am."

Barriss smiles, then replies, "Thank you, Ezoha." That's my signal to leave, Ezoha thinks. Ezoha walks out of the small room that has been designated as the office for the Commander-in Chief of the Mirialan Resistance.

Barriss puts the data chip in her datapad and opens the file. She flips to the most important targets, at the end of the file.

CLASSIFIED-TOP SECRET

Report on Imperial Targets

By: Mirialan Resistance Intelligence

Targets are ranked from least to most importance to destroy as a long-term solution to get the Empire out of the Mirial Sector...

Attack Squadron for Mirial System:The Squadron consists of two Heavy Attack Lines and one Recon Line.

Recon Line for Mirial System: Getting rid of this will give us a short (3 days max) window to attack other stuff in system without any Imperial recon cruisers in system. It will also make it easier to communicate by comlinks without being traced.

Heavy Attack Lines for Mirial System: Getting rid of this will give us a short (3 days max) window to attack other stuff in system without as many TIEs or any Star Destroyers in system.

Imperial Sector Command Base: Destroying this will set the Empire back quite a ways, as well as stabilize us. As standard Imperial protocol is to have all ships return to the base to welcome the new Moff, this also gives up a vital window to attack other places later, as the ships and troops will have all been recalled. It will also give us a good chance to capture supplies, which, as we all know are vital to sustaining the Resistance.

We need to target the Attack Squadron, then the Sector Command Base. But to do that, we will need supplies. If the Cabinet agrees with me on the necessity of targeting these targets, which should also have low civilian casualties, we will need to contact the rest of the Rebellion to ask for supplies, Barriss thinks.

She starts typing her notes for when she presents the report

Target Attack Squadron, then Sector Base. We will have to ask rest of the Rebellion for supplies.

Benefits:

- No Star Destroyers or recon cruisers in system, if we time it right

- Good chance to get supplies

- Low chance of harming civilians

- Set Empire back in sector for months

- Opens vital window later for attacks

- Make it easier to recruit more people

Problems:

- Risky

- Need more supplies

- Have to talk to people who'd likely try to kill me or hate me to get those supplies

- Only a short window to do the base, after we deal with the squadron

She saves her notes, and puts her datapad away.

Several Hours Later- Evening

Barriss walks into the meeting area a few minutes early, and sees Ajuqo waiting there.

"Miss Offee, can you help me with mental shielding?" asks Ajuqo. Ajuqo is only in her 20s, and is the head of her department because of her skill, not her age. There are very few Healers on this base, so every one is valuable. She was barely rejected by the Jedi for having a average midi-chlorian count only slightly too low. Now Barriss has been teaching her to protect herself.

"Yes, Ajuqo. Imagine like a gate or durasteel door locking shut in front of your mind." Ajuqo tries that. Her face is a mask of concentration. Barriss gently probes, and feels the shields staying strong. Good.

"Good job." Barriss says looking proud of her student.

Then the group of people who were invited walk in and find seats. Uluhlii sits next to her twin, Miquo, and Ezoha sits next to the twins, while Jefu sits on Barriss's other side, as Ajuqo sits next to Barriss.

"Welcome, everyone. I've analyzed the report from Intelligence. I'd like to suggest that we attack the Mirial System's Attack Squadron, then the sector Command Base. We'd need additional supplies, so we would have to ask the rest of the Rebellion, though." says Barriss confidently. She then projects her notes on her datapad on the holoprojector, then continues explaining, "It would be a high risk, high yield operation similar to the one I got promoted to this job because of." The one where Yoma Rese died. She was the one who taught me the Mirialan Beliefs. Like that it's never too late... The rest of the Cabinet looks at her notes, then thinks about how that would affect their department.

"Uluhii, do you think we can get the supplies given my past?" she asks, uncertain.

"Yes, I think we can. If we can't get them from the Alliance, we can steal or buy them, although negotiation with the Alliance will be the easiest way to get them." says the woman in charge of Supply and Logistics.

"Would you like me to contact the Alliance? I will be in disguise to prevent Mon from denying us the supplies due to my past." She looks around the room. Everyone nods, but she wants to do a voice vote to ensure that no one is being forced into into doing this.

"Voice vote, please, given how major this is. It will likely have many lives lost, but could make the sector be free long-term. If we get the help from the Alliance, that is." Barriss wants to do this, but she wants to see if the Cabinet considers it doable. If the Cabinet didn't sign off on the mission, she wouldn't do it.

"Yes." says Ajuqo confidently. She knows that the Medical Department would be able to handle it and would want to do it.

"Yes." says Uluhlii confidently. She knows that if Barriss can get the supplies, the logistics will be manageable.

"Yes." says Miquo confidently. She knows that planning the attacks on the attack squadron and base will be hard, but she has faith in the gods and her department being able to handle it.

"Yes." Says Ezoha confidently. He knows that his spies are still in place, and that he will be able to help make his department do its part in this plan.

Everyone's eyes are on Jefu.

"Yes." Says Jefu confidently. He knows that the raid on the base is what his people do best. Yes, we are ready…

"And with everyone voting in the affirmative, Operation: Mirialan Freedom is approved." says Barriss's always calm voice.

Author's Notes: I got the details for the Attack Squadron from the Imperial Commander's Guide from Legends, released by the Mouse. I'm not going to release the next chapter until I get at least one more chapter done. Please review, as I will probably write back!

* The Cabinet consists of the Chiefs of all the departments of the Mirialan Resistance. If a Chief is unavailable or unable to attend, the next highest-level person in the department goes in their place.
