Hey guys new chapter and blah, dont have much to talk about this time around.
Subaru woke up once again, he was staring up at the ceiling. It was the dawn of a new day! A time for hope and justice! Not only will he get both maids on his side he will also destroy the shit outta that shaman who cursed him! He threw the blanket off him and jumped out of bed walking over to the wadrobe and getting dressed in his new uniform. It was just as amazing as it was the first time. Surprisingly great actually, he was gonna work his ass off today! If he gets so tired he begins throwing up he'll work some damn more! His fingers fall off from over exertion? WORK. SOME. MORE!
Subaru was in the kitchen, vigorously peeling potatoes with demonic inspiration! Ram looked at Barusu with surprise and just a smidge of admiration. But then she remmebered just who exactly was doing it, and readied up an insult. She opened her mouth and took a quick breath and right before she could spit out her toxic words Subaru cut her off dropping the last potato in the basket and turning to Ram with a confident smirk.
"Nope! Ram I know ya don't like me or frankly I think you despise me! But please try your best to keep insults to personal time. Don't want me loosing my respect for ya do you know pinky?"
Ram looked at Barusu with a shocked and bewildered expression, watching as he grabbed the basket of potatoes and threw them in a boiling pot of water and put the lid on. Subaru turned around to see the pouty and angry maid directly infront of him.
"Ram you're in my way I need to go sw-"
"Barusu, never call me pinky again, it is belittling."
"Haha yeah right pinky"
Said Subaru as he patted her head and walked around her and out of the kitchen before finding and grabbing a broom. He spent hours sweeping the hallways, making sure the carpets were spotless. But he wasn't sweeping the halls just because he had to for the job he was looking for the forbidden library while doing so. And about an hour into sweeping he found a suspicious door. He propped the broom against the wall next to the door and swung the doors wide open.
"What is it that you need from Betty."
"Hey there Beako! I've got some more questions about curses. Alright first and foremost, are curses able to be removed? and are curses able to be detected?"
"Curses are able to be removed by magic, infact. And Betty can detect curses with her magic, wherever the shaman touched you is where the curse is located, I suppose."
"Thanks Beako, couldn't do it without you! I'll be back later for your help Beako!"
"Your pet names anger me, I suppose. It is time for you to leave, in fact!"
"Yeah I was gonna do tha-"
Subaru was cut off as he was flung out of the forbidden library by Beatrice, slamming into the window. Oh wait, the window was open? Crap, he flew out of the window and landed in some dirty bushes. He got up from the bushes and dusted himself off. "Damn magic loli" he mumbled to himself as he did.
"Thanks nature, without you I'd be dead!"
"Subaru? What are you doing here?"
"Oh! Emilia! Good morning to you! Beatrice just got tired of me and flung me out of the library, if not for those bushes I'd be dead!"
"Subaru, Rem spread manure over those bushes a day ago."
"Great, now I smell like shi- Hey Emilia! How do you exactly use magic?"
"Well I made a contract with"
"Me!" Said Puck as he appeared out of no where with a giggle.
"And so he lends you his magic I assume?"
"Hey you're actually correct Subaru, so you aren't completely clueless."
"No I definitely am, it's just something obvious. Anyways an I able to use magic too?"
"Yeah! Wait hang on let me check what affinity you have."
"Affinity?"
"O-Oh! I'll explain while Puck looks for the answer. There are four affinities, Fire, water, earth and wind."
"Oh that's coo-"
"Got it! Subaru your affinity is yin!"
"Yin? Emilia you didn't say anything about a hidden fifth one."
"W-well that's because yin is a rare affinity and I wasn't expecting you to have it. You should consider yourself lucky Subaru."
"Well I guess I am, what spells can I cast?"
"You can make someone stronger, slower, blind them, deafen them stuff like that."
"Oh so debuffs, so I'm a support character. Aw man, guess I'll have to learn sword arts instead of magic. But first I wanna try a spell out so I can get the experience."
"Well let's start with something easy, shamak, it separates your mind from this realm. Here I'll show you, shamak!"
Darkness.
Everlasting, neverending.
"wha- What? Where am I?!"
Said Subaru in fear as he looked around, just darkness and even darker fog. No sound, nothing to see, just empty darkness. This is something easy?!
"Subaru? Subaru are you okay?"
Laying on the ground Subaru looked up at the blue sky eyes and mouth open in shock as he saw Emilia look at her in worry as Subaru got up from the ground.
"Subaru is everything alright?"
"Yeah, yeah just new to magic I guess. Anyways how do I cast a spell?"
"Well, first you need to close your eyes and imagine the spell. And once you do that you imagine your gate and sending mana out of it. After that you shout the name of the spell, in this case shamak!"
"My gate?"
"It's basically your soul, and it's where all your mana is stored."
"Oh, okay I'll try it out now."
Subaru closed his eyes and imagined a gate you'd see at a school to keep the children in. behind it blue fog and waves moved and floated. he imagined the spell making someone fall down or hit a wall. He imagined the gate opening and the blue fog being released shooting out like a tidal wave.
"Shamak!"
Subaru watched as Emilia gasped a bit, oh no he must've cast the spell on Emilia. Wait who was he even gonna cast it on? Puck? Himself? Beatrice who was watching him from afar inside the window? Oh well, but it's weird he can't see anything too. but it's not like when puck casted shamak on him, it was more like he was in a room with no light in it. And in a couple minutes it turns out he was surrounded by black fog, how did he find out? Well it just started disappearing.
"What happened? Was that shamak?"
"No Subaru you flopped the spell, seems like you have horrible control over your gate and just blew out all of your mana. You should stop using magic before your gate collapses."
Said puck from behind a bush along with Emilia. Puck was angry with his arms crossed and Emilia was just giggling because Subaru is dumb haha.
"Aw man, I knew I wouldn't be able to do magic very well because I'm from earth but I didn't expect for me to get hurt by using it."
Subaru mumbled to himself, but he realized that Emilia and puck were right infront of him and he just said some suspicious things about himself.
"Earth?"
"It's not important... I'd rather like not to talk about it.."
Truth be told Subaru just wasn't ready to talk about his origins. He didn't wanna talk about the family he left behind, or the world he left behind where he was a useless shut in who ruined their life one day. Subaru looked down at the green grass with a gloomy look. Emilia quickly took notice of Subaru's hesitance and understood.
"It's fine Subaru, I understand."
The two just looked at the ground in awkward silence before Subaru decided to talk again.
"Well anyways since the happy mood was ruined by that how about we do something? I've got just the idea! Let's go to the village together! There's a group of kids there that are jerks but they're actually pretty nice, they'll love you so come on let's go!"
"But Subar-'
" "bUt SuBaRu YoU kNoW iM a HaLf ElF tHeY'lL bE tErRiFiEd Of Me" Don't worry about it! They're kids they have childish curiosity. You don't deserve to be hated by everyone purely because of your race, that's a horrible thing! Look, I know my opinion doesn't really matter to you since I'm just some loser who called for help and became a butler for your Sponser but, I think you deserve better way better! You deserve to have friends! So let's get you some friends!"
Before Emilia could prove Subaru wrong about the second half of what he said Subaru grabbed her by the wrist and started going to the village.
"Subaru wait!"
"Emilia please, come on it'll be fun my promise."
"I'm coming with you Subaru, but first let me get my cloak."
"A cloak? To hide your appearance? Please Emilia you don't need to hide yourself it'll be fine."
"Subaru please, just that one thing that's all."
"It's alright, but next time you're not coming with the cloak alright? I'll wait right here for ya."
Said Subaru a bit disappointed in himself because he couldn't convince Emilia to just come with him, without needing to hide her appearance. Subaru just stood there spinning around because he didn't want to just stand still and do nothing. He saw Emilia walking towards him in the cloak. The cloak did look pretty good on her though. Smiling as he walked over to her Subaru stopped Infront of her.
"That cloak looks surprisingly good on you. Come on let's go Emilia."
Emilia smiled and nodded, before following Subaru to the village. They walked next to each other on the road to the village, Subaru had his hands in the pockets of his butler pants. Emilia swung her hands as they walked, it looked nice today. It would be a shame if he had to die again, that would mean Emilia wouldn't have experienced this with him. He was determined to survive this loop, he wouldn't die in this one!
They arrived at the Village, it was the second day so he hasn't been to the village yet. He needs to find the kids so he can get people to touch him. (I couldve worded that better) He grabbed Emilia by the wrist and looked around for the kids.
"S-Subaru where are we going?"
"I'm looking around for the kids, they'll pop around eventually seeing some nasty eyed butler dragging a woman with a worried look behind him."
"What do you mean nasty eyed"
"Well my ey-"
"Hey mister!"
"Why are you dragging that girl around with you like that?"
"Are you a bad guy?"
"Speak of the devil! Hey there kids! I'm Natsuki Subaru! And my companion here is Mila, no last name."
"Mila?"
"Go along with it"
Whispered Subaru to Emilia as he turned back to the kids once again and began doing what he's great at doing, winning people over! And after about fifteen minutes the entire town including Emilia and Subaru were doing radio calisthenics together.
"Victory!"
"V-Victory!"
"VICTORY!"
Shouted the villagers in unison after Subaru and "Mila" said it. The entire town was smiling and cheering. Truly Subaru was amazing. Thought Emilia to herself as she watched Subaru give high fives, fist bumps, shoulder pats, one even slapped him on the butt. Subaru looked very flustered at it, everyone would be. Subaru chatted for a bit with the villagers before walking back over to "Mila"
"You did great Mila! Did you see how everyone had an amazing time? I hope you did too!"
"It w-was really fun Subaru."
"Glad to hear it Mila! Now c'mon gotta get back to the mansion and finish my last task."
"Okay Subaru."
"Mister Subaru!"
"Huh?"
Subaru looked as a blue haired girl ran over holding a small puppy in her hands. It was Meili again, and that cute but feisty little dog again. This time he was gonna pet it for sure!
"Look at this puppy I found! Don't tell the adults! I found it outside the magic barrier."
"Don't worry, it looks harmless. My mouth is zipped! Now, it's time to pet you."
Said Subaru as he made a grabbing motion with his fingers before gently petting the puppy on top of the head, and then proceeding to get bit on the tops of his fingers. Recoiling his hand Subaru whimpered as he stared at the puppy.
"Man, that dog is persistent on biting me huh. Anyways see ya kids! I have to leave with Mila!"
"Bye mister Subaru! Bye misses Mila!"
"Misses?"
"Eh I wouldn't worry about it, just kids and their assumptions."
The two smiled at each other before leaving the village. Waving goodbye to the children as they did. Subaru looked at Emilia's hand ad they walked. Although however creepy it sounds he really just wanted to hold her hand, I mean, how bad could it possibly be? It's just hand holding right? It's nothing else just hand holding, yeah that's it. And as he reached to grab her hand,
"Subaru."
"Huh? Oh, Rem."
"Where were you Subaru? You are late for the rest of your tasks."
"I uh, I was at the village with Emilia."
"Did you buy vegetables?"
"Was I supposed to? And sorry, no I just want with Emilia to enjoy my time. Even though I had work to do... Maaaaaan I'm so stupid. Oh well, anyways c'mon Remy, oh yeah no that's not gonna work I'm just gonna think of that rat. Anyways bye Emilia, it was fun going to the village with you. I hope I was fun to be around too. Until tomorrow"
"U-Until tomorrow Subaru! And I had lots of fun!"
Subaru and Emilia waved goodbye with smiles as Rem watched with a small smile, before going back to frowning when Subaru turned to face her. The two just walked to the kitchen quietly.
"I'm sorry about being late Rem, it was just, I hate that Emilia is hated by practically the entire world just because of her race. I really hope I didn't cause you and your sister any trouble because of it. I'll make sure to work extra hard tomorrow to make up for it!"
"It's alright Subaru. Rem likes your efforts to cheer up Emilia."
"Wait really?! So you're not just going to insult me or something? Or tell me that I belong in the trash or that I ruined your day by just being in the vicinity of your sight? Or that the thought of me being useful can bring your sister to throwing up?"
"Rem and Nee-sama would never say such horrible things! Where did you hear such things from? Rem and Nee-sama would never be so disrespectful to someone!"
"Wait.. Really?"
"if only you knew"
Thought Subaru to himself as he followed the maid. He was actually making progress with the maid! This is great! Subaru smiled cheerfully as the two made it to the kitchen. Subaru began peeling more potatoes and strange vegetables native to this world. Knowing that his efforts to help out the maids actually worked really made his day. Rem quickly took notice of Subaru's cheerful demeanor.
"Subaru, Rem sees you are are more happy than usual, was the village trip truly so cheerful? Rem might join you next time."
"No, I'm happy that you like me is all Rem. Gosh, you guys really hated me a lot on my first couple days. It makes me really happy that you don't hate me anymore Rem."
Said Subaru with a cheerful smile as he looked at Rem, Rem was blushing again how cute. Subaru continued to peel vegetables occasionally helping Rem with seasoning or cutting food as well. By the end of the cooking both Rem and Subaru were smiling, Subaru had a wide and happy smile, Rem just had a gentle smile befitting a maid.
It was night, and Subaru was staring at the ceiling with a happy and fulfilled look.
shit! He forgot to talk to Beatrice to cure him of his curse! He got up and walked around the mansion, but he saw Emilia walking too. He walked over to her and smiled.
"Hey Emilia, what're ya doing?"
"The food today was really good, so I got another plate. I just left the plate at the kitchen. What are you doing?
"O-Oh! Well I uh, I'm cursed and I was gonna get Beako to cure me."
"You got cursed? How?! By who?"
Fuck, he would have to explain it to Emilia. Well he would have to tell her eventually, why not today right? Time to come clean.
"I don't know how to tell you this but I know someone has cursed me because, well, I have a power called return by de-"
Darkness.

PAIN, SO MUCH PAIN, MY HEART
Subaru fell onto his knees trembling as he held his chest, Emilia said something and crouched down but he was in too much pain to care. Did he get a heart attack? A stroke? What was that? No he can't be distracted he needs to get rid of the curse or else he's gonna die and this loop will of had been for nothing. He got back up and looked at Emilia.
"Don't worry, just a bit tired today is all. I dunno why but I got cursed today and I know it because Beatrice explained it. You go back now, it's late. You don't want bags under those pretty eyes of yours."
"O-Ok Subaru, t-thank you! Good night."
Said Emilia flustered as she left to her room, seems like the compliment from Subaru distracted her a bit from the weird plot holes in his explanation. Subaru walked the halls of the mansion, absolutely REEKING of the stench of the witch.
Rem was in the kitchen, washing the dishes from the food and the extra plate from Emilia. When her heart dropped as she smelt the putrid smell of the witch Subaru reeked of this smell, but it was particularly pungent today it couldn't possibly be Subaru. The very stench of the thing that reminds her what happened to her sister. She dropped the plate in the water and walked out of the kitchen. She followed the stench, the rattling of chains behind her as she followed it. And then she found him, it was Subaru
She was a bit surprised for a second but she was too focused on getting answers to care. She swung her morningstar at them and hit them directly.
Subaru was walking through the halls of the mansion looking for Beatrice's library. When suddenly he heard the rattling of chains and was hit by something, he felt intense pain in his left arm as he rolled across the floors of the mansion breaking through a window and falling out of the mansion and on the ground. He broke his right leg as he fell out of the window and was covered in shards of class. He clutched at his arm in extreme pain, before noticing, that he didn't feel anything but a moist fleshy textured. And that's when he realized he was touching the point where your shoulder turns to your arm. His arm, was removed.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH"
Subaru screamed as he saw someone jump out of the building from the window, he was quickly bleeding out as he noticed it. Under the dimly lit moon he saw the glint of blue hair.

Subaru watched as Rem, slowly walked over to him and crouched down by his broken leg and cast a healing spell.
"You are no use to Rem dead, witch cultist."
"Witch...cultist? What are...you...you talking ab...out?"
Subaru asked weakly as he stared at the maid, holding a weapon in her hand as she stood up, Subaru's leg being healed.
"Are you a member of a faction that opposes Emilia-sama's bid for the throne?"
"You..You heard me at the dinner with Roswaal, I didn't even know anything about the elections...Why are you doing this?"
Said Subaru, breathing in pain as he stared at the maid, he had dead eyes and an emotionless voice. he did so much and was still not trusted by the maid. He watched as she held up her chains and slammed it onto his stomach. Subaru once again gasping in pain as she continued.
"Who hired you, and under what conditions?"
"Are you enjoying this? Asking me questions that you... You already know the answers to? No one... I came here two days ago... to Lugunica.."
Subaru watched Rem as she held up the chains of her morningstar once again, although she looked hesitant she hit him again, Subaru screaming again in pain as he gasped for air tightly grasping for life.
"Are you affiliated with the witch cu-"
"No! No no no! I'm not evil! I don't want to hurt you! I don't want information! I just want to help Emilia! I just want a place to stay! I just wanted to help god damn it..I don't know what this fucking witch cult is you cunt! Do you get enjoyment from torturing innocent peo-"
Subaru watched as Rem took a step back, holding her shaking hand up to her face before remembering why she was doing this, and who's disgusting smell Subaru was covered in. She held up her morningstar and slammed it onto Subaru's legs, ripping off his left leg as Subaru screamed.
"WHY?! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?! WHAT HAVE I EVER DONE TO YOU?!...Why...just...let me..die..."
Rem looked at Subaru, who barely had enough will to talk as he slowly bled out Infront of Rem. He was whispering something.
"monster...monster...monster.."
He repeated the word, looking Rem dead in her eyes and finally Rem held up her morningstar and slammed it down onto his head crushing the side of it, his other eye left intact, staring into Rem's eyes.
"Rem rem, it appears our gue-"
"NO, STAY AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY GET OUT! GET OUT! MONSTER! MONSTER! MONSTER! GO, DONT HURT ME PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY PLEASE GOD PLEASE MONSTER!"
Subaru was sobbing as he backed to the edge of his bed his face full of tears as he pointed to Rem in intense fear and terror as he continued screaming monster at her. The two twins stared at their terrified guest with wide eyes. Rem? A monster? How could that be possible. But the two decided to leave, Rem's face was one of sadness as she followed her sister.
Subaru was crying and holding his face as he laid in bed crying. He continued screaming monster but it was muffled due to him holding his face as he cried. He heard the door open. Subaru's heart dropped, what if it was that disgusting monster?! he started struggling to breathe as he looked at the who entered through the door. It was Emilia with a concerned look as she walked over to the end of the bed and sat down looking at Subaru.
"Subaru, I assure you, Rem is not a monster. I dont know why you think of her as one but she would never hurt you. Please go apologize, you broke her heart."
"No. I dont want to talk to that monster."
Said Subaru as he got up from the bed and grabbed his clothes from the wardrobe closet thing.
"Im going to undress. Please leave the room, I don't want you to see me naked."
"Fine Subaru, but you're going to say sorry to Rem."
Subaru didn't answer Emilia as he began undressing, Emilia was out of the room and Subaru put on his jacket before leaving the room. He walked straight to the dinning hall, opening the door and once again it was Beatrice.
"I don't feel like talking. You can discern whether I'm a threat or not later."
Subaru said not caring enough to wait for her reaction and response as he closed the door and opened it again, walking inside the dinning room and sitting down in the seat that was facing Emilia's. Subaru stared at the blue haired maid in terror once again. Before standing up and sitting at the chair farthest from her position. Subaru didn't talk, nor did he look up from his plate as he ate the food. This was cooked by Rem, he didn't want to eat this food.
"So Suuubaru, I heard you were startled by Reeeeeeem this morning."
"I don't want to talk about it, I don't want to talk about that monster."
"As you seeeeeee it fit, Subaru. But I grant you one wiiiiish, whatever you'd like, because you heeeeeeelped out Emilia."
"Let me stay here as a resident. And I want someone to teach me to write and read. Not her, I want anyone but her."
Said Subaru as he stared at his food. He didn't want to continue eating this slop. It was made by her (It was actually really good). Ram looked at Subaru and grumbled saying something to herself.
"Your wish iiiiiiis my command Subaru. Ram will teach you toooooo write and read, and you can stay here as a resident for as long as you want."
Subaru stood up from his seat and quietly walked to the door leading back to his room. Not wanting to eat more of that slop she made.
"thank you for the dinner, but I lost my appetite."
He said as he left, slowly walking back to his room. Opening the door he walked inside and got under the blanket. He didn't have the energy to do anything, he didn't want to talk, He didn't want to go anywhere, he didn't want to see anyone. He just wanted to rest, nothing else. Hopefully that monster doesn't visit him. Why would she even want to visit him? To belittle him? Hurt him? Torture him again? Disgusting, just the thought of her blue hair disgusted him. He slowly fell asleep. In his dream he was walking through an infinitely long hallway, there were no doors no windows. Just brick walls and a ceiling leading endlessly straight Infront of him. If he stopped walking he would hear chains, eventually even when he was walking the sound of chains was there. it got louder, and louder, and louder, until...
Heavy breathing, Subaru was sitting up on the bed again. He was sweating, and began sobbing into his hands again. He couldn't get that out of his mind. He couldn't forgive that monster. He liked her so much, he was so nice to her. She was so nice to him, what happened? It doesn't matter, because in the end he was tortured and murdered by her. Why did she hate him so much? What did he ever do to make her hate him so much? The witch cult? What the fuck even was the witch cult and why did she think he was in it?!
He wanted to get this out of his mind. It was hot, and he was thirsty. He got out of bed and left the room. He walked slowly because he was tired, still breathing heavily from the nightmare. As he walked through the halls to the bathing room to relax, he couldn't help but notice the blue hair of the monster in maid's clothing. He stopped walking and just stared her in the eyes. She continued walking towards him, or well, towards him to get to wherever she was going.
"Piss off, monster."
Subaru said as he stared her down, where the fuck is that gigantic flail that she used to crush his head in? Did she hide it in that small maid's dress or something? Rem looked up at Subaru. She stopped walking, there was about four meters between them.
"Rem is sorry f-"
"Shut your fucking mouth. Do not talk to me, I don't want to hear your cursed words you monster. I don't want to see your face, knowing someone like you is able to live? It makes me want to puke."
Rem stopped looking at Subaru, she was looking down her face was obscured now. But Subaru couldn't care less, if anything he's happy he couldn't see her vile face. Subaru watched as she approached him. Subaru instantly began walking back, taking three steps back. And when he realized she continued to walk directly towards him he began running. Maybe he was too honest? Shit! He can't die on the first day, how pathetic could he possibly be as to die on the first day?! He noticed a suspicious door while he was running, but he ran about two doors past it. Subaru turned around he didn't care enough to look if Rem was there. He just ran and swung the door open and dived inside.
"You are a pathetic maggot, Infact."
Subaru backed up to the wall and hid his face in his legs as he sobbed.
"Don't, don't let her in. P-Please Beako.."
Said Subaru in-between sniffles and sobs. He just wanted to relax, he wanted to get those tortured memories out of his head. Dying was a horrible feeling, it was indescribable.
"The maid stopped approaching you when you began running in tears, I suppose."
"She's a monster."
Said Subaru as he continued sobbing, and when he stopped sobbing he just stayed in the library for an hour. He stood up and looked at Beatrice.
"thank you for letting me stay here."
"Betty never let you stay here I suppose, you barged in and forced me to let you stay here, infact."
"Don't word it like that. It makes me sound like a horrible person."
"You are a horrible person, I suppose."
"What do you mean im a horrible person? What'd I do to you?"
"You scream at, belittle, hate, insult and disrespect Rem. Rem hasn't met you before, she hasn't known of your existence. And you call her a monster the second you see her, I suppose. You are the monster, infact."
"You, you don't know what she's like. She, she would murder and torture innocent people because she thinks they're a part of some cult."
"I do not know what it is that you're talking about, I suppose. But you stink of the witch, which would connect you to the witches cult."
"I stink of the witch? What do you mean?"
"The witches miasma, you reek of it. Betty is surprised you do not know you stink of the witch."
"I, I dont care, she would still just kill me because I smell of her. I have no connection to this witch or the witches cult. But she would still kill me, torture me. Rip off my limbs and whip me with chains."
"Your examples are very specific Subaru."
"I'm not able to talk about it, so please Beako don't mention it."
Subaru's thoughts were faltering, maybe it was because of his smell? Was Rem really just protecting the mansion? She was even hesitating when hurting him. She looked sad almost... Maybe Subaru was actually the monster? Well shit, Subaru just had an overwhelming amount of guilt shower over him. It's probably, no definitely too late to apologize, at least it would be too late to apologize and actually get Rem's forgiveness. Subaru left the forbidden library, he was still a bit angry at Rem, I mean she did torture and murder him, he's also deathly afraid of her still. But even though he would never have Rem's forgiveness, he wanted to apologize. He just wasn't ready yet, he was still deathly afraid of her.
Why did he leave his room again? Oh right, to relax at the baths. He began walking, looking outside the through the windows. Man he was really a jerk. He got to the door and opened it, walking inside he found Roswaal, who was already in the bath. Great.
"Ah, how are you doing Suuuuubaru?"
"I don't want to talk to someone who's butt naked while I'm also butt naked."
"Is there truuuuuly nothing you wish to discuss with me Subaru?"
"Can I work here? Starting tomorrow, I want to work here as a butler. I don't like just being someone useless."
"What a suuuuuurprise Subaru, after using your wish to stay her you decide toooooo work for me? Isn't that an interesting choice? But IIIIIIII have have to decline, your overwhelming haaaate for Rem will not work out if you work here."
"I, I'm sorry about that. I want to say sorry to Rem too. I don't hate her, I just... It's not easy to explain, I don't think I can explain."
"Interesting... Weeeeel Subaru, you will have to begin your work in two days, as we don't have anything that suits your demeanor."
"Hey what's that supposed to mean?!"
"Well, fiiiirstly"
"That wasn't an actual question, my appearance has been insulted too much. I've had enough relaxation."
"Whaaaaat? It's only been thirty minutes Suubaru."
"What?! That was thirty minutes?! How the hell? Does time work differently here too?"
"Time flies when you're having fun"
What? What's that supposed to mean? And what happened to his accent? Whatever. Subaru stood up, his back facing Subaru as he slowly got himself out of the bathing room and into the smaller changing room which was attached to it. He dried himself off and got his clothes back on. As he left the room he noticed Ram, who stared at him with disgust and hate.
"Ram? What're you doing here?"
"Subaru Sir, I am here to tell Lord Roswaal that dinner is ready." She said disgusted calling Barusu Sir.
"Don't call me sir, you won't need to... I'm sorry."
He said as he walked past her and to the dinning room. Looking inside she noticed that Rem was placing the plates of food onto the tables. He smiled, he was gonna invent a time machine and back hand himself for calling her nectar of the gods that was her cooking slop. Rem noticed Subaru when she got to the other side of the table and had a little gasp as she watched him watching her. She quickly placed down the food and went through a door quickly. He was confused to say the least, he looked at the spot where he sat yesterday... It didn't have any food...
He sat down at the seat, guess he doesn't deserve to eat huh? It's fine, he definitely doesn't deserve to eat. After the insults and disrespect he gave Rem he didn't deserve to eat for a months. He just sat there and looked at his feet with a sad look, but he deserved it so who cares right? He just patiently waited, he heard the door open. It was probably Roswaal or Emilia. Although he didn't hear anyone he looked up only to see Rem next to his seat placing down a plate of food Infront of him. He almost fell off his seat as he grabbed the edges of the table to prevent himself from falling down. Rem had a little gasp and bowed to Subaru, oh god this made him feel horrible.
"Rem apologies deeply for startling you Subaru sir."
"You d-"
Before Subaru could tell Rem that she didn't need to apologize or that she didn't need to call him sir she left over to her position again looking at Subaru intently with a small smile on her face. Why didn't she just bring his food with the rest of the food? He looked at the food, did she poison it? He poked it with a fork, it looked different from the rest of the food. It smelt amazing! He took a bite, and his eyes widened. This tasted amazing! Now I'm not about to do a generic description of how the " umami of the sauce blends so well with the flavours that it makes it taste like heaven! Whoops there goes my clothes!" I'm just gonna say, imagine having a diet of only nutrient juice for three months and then being able to eat your favorite dish prepared for specifically you by Gordon Ramsay himself. That's what Subaru is experiencing.
Subaru couldn't help but start scarfing down the food, he really just didn't care about his image to Roswaal on the others. Plus they're not even here ye- Subaru hears the door open as he finished gulping down a mouth full of the best thing he's ever experienced in his life before. His plate was half finished as he turned, wiping his mouth with a napkin. He looked over to see Emilia, Roswaal and the pink haired maid. The three looked at Subaru, his plate half cleaned and Rem watching happily. What was even going on.
"Hey Emilia! I was just eating food."
"Hi Subaru."
Well that wasn't the greeting he was expecting, but it was the one he deserved. He never apologized to Rem for being an asshole for something she hadn't done. At least, something she hadn't done yet. Subaru just shut up and continued eating the nectar of the gods. He had to restrain himself from picking up the plate and just scarfing it down. He would answer whatever small talk Roswaal had while Rem continued watching him eat her cooking intently.
And after twelve minutes of restraining himself he finished the food and wiped his mouth and stood up from his seat. He grabbed the plate and said.
"I will take my plate to the kitchen. The dinner was...delicious."
He whispered the last part as he realized that the food he had just eaten was the tastiest thing he had ever eaten. It was thousands times better than what she cooked all the other times. Rem put immense effort into cooking his food, but why? Why did he deserve this? He didn't. He didn't deserve her. Still, if he continued to hate himself for this he would surely lose himself in self loathing.
He continued walking until he made it to the kitchen, he placed the plate on the counter. But before he left, he decided he'd grab the plate and clean it. He then left and entered his room. He sat down and waited for Ram, to come help him with writing. And after about forty five minutes of waiting he heard a knock at his door and opened it, it was Ram.
"Hello Ram, you are here to help me write am I correct?"
"Yes Subaru sir."
"I told you to stop calling mr Sir. Just call me whatever you're comfortable with me. It's job to listen to people ad a maid correct? Then I ask you to call me whatever you want to."
"As you wish, Barusu."
"Alright, so then. How do we begin? Are we going to read children's books first? Or actually we should start with how letters look."
"We will begin with the pronunciations of letters Barusu."
"Alrighty."
Three hours had past and Subaru hsd learned how to write "hello how are you, what do you need?" in the language of this world. Subaru looked at Ram who had fallen asleep in his bed. He walked over to her and gently nudged her awake.
"c'mon Ram, you could've just told me you were tired. You can go sleep now, I've learnt enough for today. I hope you sleep well."
"Good night to you too Barusu."
Subaru waved goodbye to the tired Ram as he got in his own bed and fell asleep in a matter of minutes, truth be told he was also extremely tired too.
It was morning, the dawn of a new day. A day of standing around and doing nothing for a while. He got out of bed and did some stretches, which lead to him doing some radio calisthenics. He left his room and went to the dinning hall for breakfast. As he entered the room he once again noticed that he had different food than everyone else.
He sat down by in his seat which was still farthest from Rem. Subaru greeted Emilia and Roswaal, and gave a small smile to Rem who was watching him just as intently as yesterday and with a slightly bigger smile than the other day. He began eating the food, which again was the best thing he had ever experienced in his life. He made occasional chatter with Roswaal. Emilia was distant in this loop, that's bad. He'll have to talk to her after he apologizes to rem. He was done with the breakfast in ten minutes. He grabbed the plate and stood up.
"Thank you for the dinner, I will take the plate to the kitchen."
Subaru walked to the exit and walked to the kitchen once again. He cleaned the plate and left the kitchen, he walked to his room and fell on his bed. He grabbed his phone and opened it, he hadn't used this thing in weeks (for him, in real time it's been like a day) He read the small texts he made with his parents with a smile for the next hour. He closed the phone snd held it to his chest, tears falling from his eyes as he smiled.
He looked outside and saw Emilia outside just sitting in the grass. He made a promise to himself that he wouldn't talk to her until he said sorry to Rem. But Subaru still had doubts about saying sorry to Rem, apologizing immediately after a day? She wouldn't believe him and would get suspicious. Until then he would scout out the mansion so it would be believable when he started working and already knew the layout of the place. an hour had passed, he had looked in all the cabinets, all the rooms, all the drawers, everything.
He found Ram on the way, she took his measurements. Taking someones measurements in 6 in the morning sure is annoying. After that he continued, and on the way he found a suspicious door snd remembered he needed to be mana sucked.
"What is a worm like you doing here?"
"Suck my mana, don't let anyone drag me out of the forbidden library however. Especially Rem, I don't want to burden her with taking care of me."
Said Subaru as he walked over snd grabbed Beatrice's hand.
"Please try to make it painless?"
"That is not possible, I suppose."
"Great."
Said Subaru sarcastically as he felt the pain of having his life force sucked out of his soul. He fell to his knees and smiled at Beatrice.
"You are nothing but a fly, I suppose."
"Heh...Tha...n..ks.."
Beatrice watched subaru sleep, he mumbled things and turned in his sleep. things like "Rem please no!" "It hurts" "Why do you hate me" "What did I do" did Rem actually do something to this boy?
Subaru woke up, his body hurt because he was asleep on the hard wooden floor of the forbidden library. He stood up and smiled at Beatrice.
"Thank you for not letting anyone in here Beako, I'll be leaving now. Say, what time is it?"
"It is well into the evening, I suppose."
"The evening?! Shit! Well, I'll be damned. Can't believe I slept for so damn long. But thanks Beako, you're the best!"
Said Subaru as he turned around and left. As he left he looked at the window, yup it was in the middle of evening. How much of a shut in does Subaru need to be to fall asleep for 5 hours and then another 13 hours?! Oh well, cant change the past... Well he can but he's not commiting suicide because he was asleep for an entire day. He entered his room and laid down in his bed again, he took out his phone and read the messages his parents had sent him for another hour and also looked at a picture of his mom and dad at a carnival he refused to go to with them because there was a limited time event in the new rpg game he had bought.
He once again had tears in his eyes, he really missed his parents. He was deathly guilty for leaving them for this world. They must be so sad... knock knock knock He heard a knock on his door. He got up and wiped the tears off his face and opened the door. It was Rem, she was holding a butler's outfit. He was shocked once again.
"Rem made you your suit, Rem hopes that the outfit Rem made will be comfortable for Subaru. Rem is sorry if I didn't make the outfit good enough for you.."
Subaru grabbed the outfit from her and looked at it, holding it on his body and smiling. This suit was actually perfect, it even looked really good too! But he noticed that Rem wasn't very happy, could she smell the witch on him?
"Rem don't worry this outfit is perfe-"
"Does Subaru still hate Rem? Is Rem still a monster?"
Said Rem as she looked down at her feet, Subaru noticed she had tears in her eyes as she asked the question. He could hear her make small sniffles, and she was also shaking a little. Subaru dropped the outfit and wrapped his arms around the crying maid. He really couldn't care less if she could smell the witches scent on him. He just wanted to comfort this poor girl that he made feel so worthless.
"It's okay, you're not hated by me. you're not a monster, I'm sorry for being so evil to insult you do much. it'll be alright, you don't disgust me, your existence doesn't make me want to puke, your existence makes me want to smile, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I made you you feel so horrible. I'm sorry I made you cry, you are perfect as you are. You don't need to push yourself to make a horrible disgusting person like me happy, I'm so happy you decided to show me how much of an amazing and kind person your are."
Subaru continued comforting Rem as she cried into his chest. He gently rubbed her back as he held her. Man how pathetic can one person possibly be. He belittles someone with the worst insults imaginable, and he makes up for it by telling her he's sorry? Man he is truly a pathetic man. And so the two stayed standing there for the next ten minutes, both of them deathly in need of comfort. Surprising that Subaru got comfort from the very person who killed him.
"You shouldn't cry Rem, it covers that pretty face of yours."
Said Subaru as he wiped the tears from her eyes while holding her face. They were both smiling, and both were crying, although Rem had been crying more, the center of his jacket was soaked in tears actually.
"Rem is, Rem is happy that you forgive me."
"I'm happy that you're forgiving me Rem, you don't need my forgiveness. Now then Rem, it's getting late. You should go back to sleep before ram gets worried. And tell Ram Don't want lesson's today, im a bit tired for today Rem."
"Of course Subaru."
Subaru hugged her really quick and waving goodbye, he watched he walk the halls until she turned a corner. He stepped backwards into his room and grabbed his suit from the ground before closing the door and laying down in his bed, he took off his shirt because it was soaked wet with Rem's tears. he followed it neatly and held it tightly on his chest before slowly falling asleep
