Subaru woke up he was looking at the ceiling as light broke through the curtains of the windows and onto his bed. That's probably what woke him up this time around, he grabbed the blanket and slowly pulled it off himself only to see the now dried jacket from earth. He sat up on his bed and placed his jacket on the small table next to the bed. As he stood up and started undressing his heart skipped a beat when he realized that Rem definitely knows that he reeks of the witch now. He fell back down on his bed, fucking hell, seriously? After that heart warming moment he had to restart?
He got his butler uniform on and it felt great on him. Rem said something about cutting corners for Subaru because she only takes her time on Roswaal. But, this thing fit amazingly does that mean she didn't cut corners? Man Rem is truly a great person, Subaru doesn't deserve her. He walked over to the door and when he opened it he finds that Rem was about to knock on his door to wake him up. He took a step back, because he was a bit scared since Rem knows about the smell.
"Good morning Subaru! Rem hope's you slept well!"
Said Rem with enthusiasm as she looked at Subaru take a step back. He was just surprised right? He's not back to hating her right? Meanwhile Subaru looked surprised at the fact that Rem would even come to tell him good morning, let alone come to greet him. She spoke happily and didn't look at him with those dead cold eyes, in fact she looked more welcoming and warmer than before. Subaru eased more and let down his guard. He took a step forward again and smiled.
"Good morning to you too Rem, and thanks hope you slept well too."
"Rem did finally sleep well after two days because of what you did yesterday night."
Rem grabbed the end of her maid's dress and tugged on it as she looked away from Subaru. Subaru doing the same as he put a hand to the back of his head and looking up to the right. Both of their faces had a red hue in them.
"Oh yeah, uh, no problem about that. Again I'm sorry for making you feel do bad, I should've never said such horrible things to you."
"It is okay, Subaru very clearly made up for it yesterday."
"Yuuuuup, so uhm, we should go prepare breakfast for Lord Roswaal and Emilia. Huh, I just realized when I said that out loud in this entire mansion there's only five people that live here, not including Puck or Beako."
"The mansion is specious Rem agrees on that, it is a lot of work but the lack of people makes it easier."
"No need to worry anymore Rem, I work here now so I'll help you and your big sister out ad much as I can."
"Thank you Subaru."
Said Rem with a smile as Subaru continued down the road, eventually the two made it to the kitchen. As the two entered Ram looked at Barusu with burning hatred, Subaru just smiled at her and walked over to the potatoes and grabbed a knife. Rem walked over next to him and also grabbed a knife. This is odd, more of the unpredictable.
"Alright Subaru do you know how to peel potatoes?"
"Honestly, not very well no. I used to peel potatoes and other things with my mom as a kid. But we used special tools specifically for peeling potatoes called "potato peelers" I know obvious name but it worked really good. anyways I don't know how to peel a potato with a knife unfortunately."
The first part of that was a lie, in the three loops before this one he learnt how to use a knife on potatoes. But he felt like he should humor Rem, it's the nice thing to do.
"Rem can teach you! You see you hold the knife and rotate the potato. It's the easiest and cleanest way to peel a potato. Rem swears by it!"
"You don't have to swear by it Rem, I'd believe you even if you just said it was the best way."
Subaru smiled as he peeled the potato just as Rem had instructed him. Rem watched to make sure he was doing everything correctly and would point everything wrong out, and would then help him out with it.
Meanwhile Ram was watching them from the other side of the kitchen. Her glares and stares of absolute hatred might melt through the back of Barusu's head. Just yesterday that filthy rat was insulting Rem with words Ram wouldn't say to her worst enemies. Two days ago Rem was so distraught she stayed up the whole night crying because of him. And now he's all buddy buddy with her?! And Rem is just happily giving into his manipulative ways?! Manipulative... Yes that's it he must be manipulating Rem. Ram will have to confront Rem about Barusu later today.
"Welp I'm done with peeling potatoes! Anyways since I suck at cooking, and I mean seriously suck, I tried to cook eggs once and I somehow undercooked the white and over cooked the yolk. Yeah sounds impossible but with enough stupidity anything's possible heh. Anyways back to what I was saying, I'm gonna do my other tasks. Also what's your next task by the way?"
"My next task would be cleaning the clothes and hanging them to fry. Also Rem will be more than willingly to help you with cooking! Rem is sure she can help you become a masterful cook!"
"You don't need to Rem, I appreciate the thought but cooking isn't really my thing. Anyway see ya Rem and Ram, I'll see you both at breakfast!"
Said Subaru with a smile as he patted Rem's shoulder and walked out o the kitchen. Rem saying good bye to Subaru and Ram just silently watching with hate as Subaru left. Subaru turned the corner and walked for a good while before finding the room where they keep all the dirty laundry and grabbed it along with a bucket of warm soapy water and that metal thing you use to clean the clothes ( I dont know what its called) and walked outside. He sat the bucket down and placed the metal thingy in it before grabbing the dirty laundry and soaking it in the warm soapy water and cleaning it.
About thirty minutes had past and Subaru was done with half of the clothes. It was a hot day, it was also the third day which meant Rem would be going to the village. Subaru cant let her go alone because of the risk of the shaman cursing her. Subaru noticed noticed the outline of a person's shadow cover him. Someone was behind him and before he could say anything.
"What are you doing Subaru? Rem is supposed to be cleaning the dirty clothes."
"Oh, well I thought I should do some of Rem's tasks so she'd have some more free time."
"Ah, well that is commendable but do mske sure not to over exert yourself, know your limits."
"I thought you would be hating me right now, not giving me advice."
"Well Rem id in a much happier mood than usual so I assumed that you had said sorry to Rem."
"Yup, she's actually really nice. I like her, I don't know what happened with me on the first two days. I was a horrible person to her, it breaks my heart seeing her trying to impress me and still win me over when she's already won me over."
"Sound's like your hearts fallen for someone. Im almost jealous of her."
"Hah, yeah right. I haven't got much time to talk to you today Emilia. But I at least got to see your pretty face so I'm happy with that. Actually, I'll make some time so we both can hang out tomorrow. I know a cool ppace where we can go to. So how about it Emilia? Wanna go on a date with me tomorrow?"
"D-Don't word it like that you dunderhead! But, sure I can make time for it."
"Sounds great, can't wait for it I promise you I'll be there.
"I'm sorry we can't go to today but please do try to wait."
"What? Oooh, wait no it's just a saying from my homeland. It means I'm so excited that I dont want want to wait."
"Ah okay. Say, Subaru where is your homeland? They have sayings unfamiliar to every nation in the world."
"Ah, well if I'm correct it's somewhere east from here."
"East? Lugunica is located in the most east part of the continent. If you're more east than Lugunica then that would mean you're farther than the great waterfall."
"The great waterfall? Guess I'm from beyond the waterfall heh."
What Subaru had just said and brushed aside with a chuckle shocked Emilia. Subaru just continued washing the clothes not knowing he had just shattered Emilia's entire reality.
"Subaru..."
"Yeah?"
"Are you from another world?
What? How did she know? Or well, how did what Subaru said lead to her thinking that he's from another world? He looked at Emilia who was looking at him with a semi worried/concerned look. Should he tell her? Is he even allowed to tell her? What if the universe messes with him again? What would he gain from telling her? What could he loose from telling her? He dropped the piece of maid's clothing he was washing in the water and stood up before turning to Emilia and grabbing her shoulder with a serious look.
"What I'm going to tell you I want you not to tell anyone. Seriously, I don't know what would happen to me nor what people would do to me if they found out about this. Please promise you're going to keep this between just the two of us."
"I-I promise S-Subaru."
"Good. It sounds unbelievable, but I'm not from anywhere near here. Infact I'm from a completely different world, where magic is so scarce that sentient creatures weren't able to use it and instead relied on science. There are only humans, no elves, no demi humans. There are no mabeasts nothing like that. We can't cast spells, instead we use advanced weaponry, weapons called guns that can kill people from thousands of meters away with a single shot. I know that you probably won't believe me but there is an abundance of evidence is there not?"
Emilia looked at the ground with a conflicted look as her eyes moved around at the ground. She was looking for evidence that would reveal it was just a joke but no. This boy, Natsuki Subaru is from a different world. He knows nothing of this world, he doesn't have good control over his gate, he says things unfamiliar to every nation on the continent and he has things that are created in mysterious ways. Those chips he called are made from potatoes, but how are they so thin? There is no evidence against it, other than knowing about demi humans and elves. How would he know about these races if they didn't exist in his world?
"Subaru, how do you know about elves and demi humans if they don't exist in your world?"
"Well Humans got bored with the world and decided to write stories of different worlds. So basically demi humans, dragons and elves like you are fiction to entertain humans. We write stories of these fantasy fairy tale worlds. Please don't think I'm crazy Emilia, I'm tell you this because I trust you with the truth."
"I believe you Subaru, although it is crazy that I am speaking to a person from beyond the waterfall. How did you get here?"
"Well I was walking out of a store and there was a sudden white flash, and then I was standing Infront of a water fountain... Honestly I'd rather of had stayed home..."
Subaru whispered the last part to himself, although it was great to have this awesome adventure he had died five times up to now and he got tortured in his first and last death. On earth he was thinking of going back to school, infact he dug up his school uniform that he hadn't worn for a month to wash it.
"Anything you'd like to ask about my world Emilia?"
"How do you get around without ground dragons?"
"well for a couple hundred or thousand years we used horses which are like ground dragons but not as strong, still strong, just not as strong. But for a hundred years or so we have been using new forms of transportation, like cars which use wheels to push themselves at incredible speeds. We have trains which are faster but they can only travel on train tracks which are made for them. We have planes that have given us humans the way to fly, and we have even broken through the cosmos and used rocket ships to fly above the sky and land on the moon that was orbiting our world."
"Wow, the humans on your world are truly determined and resilient. Science is truly an amazing thing in your world."
"Yup, it is. Anyways Emilia I need to finsih these dirty clothes and help Rem out with groceries. You should go study politics for the elections Emilia. I'll tell you about my worlds politics after I'm back."
"O-Ok Subaru! Wont wait!"
"It's can't wait you dummy."
"O-Oh! Can't wait!"
Said Emilia with a giggle and a smile before walking back to her room to do as Subaru suggested. Subaru quickly finished washing the rest of the clothes, he did it too instensly and his hands got red and hurt. He was done cleaning the clothes, he hung them up to let them dry. He turned around to go tell Rem that he helped her out with the laundry but ehen he did turn around he saw Rem, who was directly infront of him. She was smiling, and also holding a wooden basket.
"Rem saw you doing my tasks. Rem is grateful for your kindness. Rem is going to go to the village to buy ingredients."
"Its no problem Rem, I want to make your days less troublesome for you because of how I made you feel for the past couple days. Im still sorry for what I did and I want to make up for it."
"Rem has already forgiven Subaru, and Subaru has already made up for his past mistakes."
"Oh, yeah hah ha that. But I still want to help you and be nice to you."
"Rem is grateful to you Subaru."
"You don't have to be, I'm the grateful one."
Subaru looked at Rem who was smiling as she followed him. The two chatted while the walked to the village. This would be the fouth time he's gonna have to do radio calisthenics with the entire village. Ss he arrived there he walked with Rem ss they bought weird products and ingredients for cooking. By the end of it Subaru was being dragged around by Rem as she showed him the products and told them what they were called. It looked silly seeing this small cute girl pull around the nasty eyed butler.
"Rem hang in my hand hurts you've been pulling me around too much."
"Oh, Rem is sorry for putting strain on your hands. Please forgive Rem."
"Why are you so apologetic Rem? It's really only towards me, but don't worry about it I'll be fine."
Rem let go of Subaru's hand and then proceeded to grab it again. She looked around it and inspected it, completely unnecessary but oh well. While this was happening a group of kids came up to the two. They had been watching the odd pair for a while. Infact the entire village had been staring at the two. Rem was too busy telling Subaru about things and Subaru was too busy being pulled around by the little blue haired maid.
"Hey mister! What's that girl dragging you around for?"
"Hey there kids! It's nice to meet you all, the name's Natsuki Subaru and my work partner here is Rem. We both work for the mansion over there but we're here to get supplies and such. What's all of your names?"
And so Subaru turned on his super power and in fifteen once again the entire village was doing radio calisthenics. Including Rem and Subaru, Rem was having fun unlike last time where she looked like she felt like she needed to do the radio calisthenics with Subaru. The usual ordeal happened once again, Subaru got touched by everyone in whatever ways including getting slapped on the bum once again. He got bit by the little puppy and Rem also pet it because Subaru insisted, it was a fun time there.
"Oh god my hand is bleeding that dog hates me what the hell."
"Rem can heal your wound, here."
Rem grabbed Subaru by the wrist and held her hand by his bitten hand and casted a water spell on it, the wound healed after like three seconds because it's not even as bad a paper cut. Subaru smiled and patted Rem's head before continuing on the path to the mansion. Rem following a couple steps behind and just looking around at the scenery. Subaru saw Emilia and Ram by the front of the mansion, Roswaal wasn't wearing his damn jester's outfit and before he could ask him anything the damned clown fucking flew into the sky and propelled himself away to somewhere.
Subaru looked at this with a mouth wide, because y'know even magic flying is something fucking out of this damn world to Subaru. He ran over to Ram and Emilia who were looking at Roswaal take off into the clouds above, Rem was following in tow.
"Yo! What the fuck where'd he go?! You never told me he could fly!"
"Lord Roswaal is leaving on an important business meeting."
"Oh, when will he be back?"
"Lord Roswaal will be back before the next morning."
"Oh, well alright then just means less work for us three. Anyways I have important business with Beako, I hope you three all have nice nights and have good dreams. Until the morning! Bye!"
"Goodnight Barusu."
"Goodnight Subaru."
"Goodnight Subaru!"
Subaru waved goodbye to the three girls before moving on to the mansion, he opened the door and walked inside before going to the halls and entering his room. He took his shirt off and his undershirt off. He hung them in the closet and grabbed his jacket from the small table next to his bed. He took off his butler pants and folded them neatly along with his socks which he placed in the pockets of his butler pants before putting them in the wardrobe and taking out his normal pants. He put on his clothes and left his room, he then walked around the halls of the mansion looking at the doors. And after two minutes of walking he finds a suspicious door, he walks over to it and swings the door open.
"You are resilient in finding my library, I suppose."
"Yo Beako, I need you to cure me of a curse. But first before that could you tell me where exactly it's located? I need to find out who the shaman is so I can take him down and bet his into the ground!"
"Betty can do as you wish, I suppose."
Subaru walked over to her and stretched his arms out to his sides in a T-pose and just waited for Beatrice to do something. Beatrice looked at him, from left to right before talking once again.
"The curse is on your right hand, I suppose."
"My hand? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit, that fucking puppy is a damned mabeast! That explains why i hates me so much god damn hellhound. Wait I need to get Rem! Hang on real quick!"
Subaru ran out of the forbidden Library and turned the corner before remembering he doesn't know where Rem's room is for obvious reasons because for what reason would he need to go to her room? Especially in the middle of the evening? He walked around frantically before noticing Ram walk out of the kitchen he walked over to her and asked her
"Hey Ram, mind telling me where Rem's room is?"
"Why do you need to know where Rem's room is?"
"Uh, well it's be-"
Subaru was cut off by Ram grabbing him by the shoulders and lifting herself up to her tip toes and getting in his face with a serious look.
"What o you intend to do with my little sister at this hour?"
"Woah you're a bit too close to me for comfort. Anyways I know it sounds bad but no, I'm not fucking your sister if that's what you and your perverted mind is thinking. Plus wouldn't she rather go to my room if we were? Anyways no, she's been cursed and so am I, I need Beako to cure us both so just tell me where she is."
Subaru placed his hands on the fuming Ram's shoulders in the midle of that sentence and pushed her off him. Ram was so angry that he even shggested that Rem would have the idea to fuck this filth. But the idea of Rem possibly dying distracted her.
"I will take you to Rem's room. But now I will take extra care in watching you to ensure you do not do anything to my sister."
"Hey you're the pervert for thinking I'd do that."
The two bickered and insulted eachother as much as they could as they arrived there. Subaru was distracted by Ram being mean so when they made it to the door and Rem opened the door before she could even say anything Subaru grabbed her by the hand and bolted. It was around here when he died last time so he's not risking death this time around. He looked for suspicious doors while running to the suspicious door lsst time just Incase Beatrice changed the doors.
"S-Subaru what sre you doing? Where are we going?"
"Im looking for the forbidden library, were both cursed and I REALLY don't want you to die that would suck a fuck ton!"
Before Rem could Respond Subaru stopped and ran into a door before grabbed Rem with his other hand snd placing her infront of Beako.
"C'mon Beako fast, I don't want Rem to die quick!"
"BARUSU IM GOING TO KILL YO-"
"Ram! The shaman that cursed us was a puppy in the village, it definitely cursed all of those kids, tell Emilia and uh, uh, grab Beako with you to cure the kids when we get them. Rem I am utterly useless at fighting and I don't even know how to use a weapon, so I'll need your help. You two do protect this mansion right?"
"Betty is done with Rem, I suppose."
"Oh, okay."
Subsru walked infront of Beatrice and Rem walked out of the way, after a minute Beatrice was done.
"Alright were done, do you know how to fight or not Rem?"
"Rem is proficient in combat. And Rem will be happy to assist you, and so will nee-sama, correct?"
"I will only assist due to Rem's involvement, hmph!"
"Sounds great! Let's go save some kids!"
Sorry for the cliff hanger, but I am certain you will all enjoy the next chapter as it had some nice action and it'll also mark the end of the mansion arc.Anyways I've made a schedule for myself, so expect a new chapter every weekend. Happy weekend all!
