Izuku groaned in annoyance and pain as he slowly woke up. Blearily opening his eyes, the green-haired man was greeted with the sight of a generic hospital room full of flowers and get-well-soon cards. He was dressed in nothing but a hospital gown, and currently lay on a soft hospital bed as several nearby medical machines beeped softly in time with his heartbeat. A single window let in soft morning sunlight, and the air smelled slightly of disinfectant and cleaning supplies. Hearing a soft snore, Izuku turned to see Rumi sitting in a metal folding chair next to his hospital bed, her head lowered and her eyes closed as she slept. She was dressed in casual clothes, consisting of a pair of blue jeans, plain white t-shirt, and trendy black sports jacket.

Chuckling softly, Izuku spoke loudly enough for Rumi to hear him.

"Well would you look at that, Miruko sleeping on the job." He said teasingly.

Immediately, Rumi's eyes flew open with happy tears already forming in them. Launching herself at Izuku to embrace him in a tight hug, Rumi clung to him like he might disappear if she let go.

"Oh thank god!" The rabbit hero exclaimed loudly. "Izuku you woke up! I was so…" Rumi choked up as tears began to roll down her cheeks. "...so scared! You have no idea how worried I was! The doctors were talking about you never waking up and...and…" Rumi could not finish her sentence as her emotions overwhelmed her and she sobbed happily. "I love y-you so m-much!"

A gentle smile on his face, Izuku hugged his emotional girlfriend back and kissed the top of her head. "I would never leave you behind Rumi. Through hell or high water, I will always come back to you."

"You don't understand Izuku…" Rumi said softly as she clung to him. "It's been almost two weeks since you took down Fujikawa. The doctor's were talking about you being in a...in a permanent coma and that you were never going to wake up."

His eyebrows raising in surprise, Izuku shrugged and stroked Rumi's long silver hair. "Well I am back either way. Like I said, I will always come back to you."

The two lovers simply held each other, no words needing to be spoken as the two silently expressed their adoration for each other.

Eventually, Rumi stopped crying and she stopped pressing her head against her soulmate's chest long enough to look up at him with her brilliant red eyes.

"Izuku, you make me the happiest girl in the world, you know that?" She said softly.

Izuku chuckled and lightly stroked Rumi's cheek with his hand. "And you make me the happiest man on the planet."

Looking around, Izuku was surprised at the sheer amount of cards and flowers in the room. One whole wall was taken up by a long table absolutely overflowing with fruit baskets, flowers of all kinds, cards both store bought and handwritten, and delicious snacks and food as well.

"Umm...what's that all about?" Izuku asked with slight confusion as he gestured to the pile of cards and gifts.

Grinning cheekily, Rumi shrugged as she buried her face once more into Izuku's chest. "Oh y'know, being a national hero means you have a lot of fans now."

Spluttering in shock, Izuku could not help but stare at the stuffed table incredulously. "What?! What d-do you m-mean national h-hero?!"

Rumi giggled at her boyfriend's reaction. "Well considering your awesome showdown with Fujikawa was recorded in high-definition from multiple angles. I would say it is not exactly that strange for everyone to want to send the hero of the day their well-wishes."

Trying to remember what exactly had happened on the rooftop, Izuku nodded slightly as he put things together. "Well...now that you mention it I do remember there being a bunch of news helicopters around. Wait a second...doesn't that also mean..."

Suddenly, Izuku realized what that scenario meant in terms of his long kept secret. Feeling a panic attack coming along, Izuku began to hyperventilate as his brain conjured nightmare scenarios of how everyone would ridicule him for being quirkless.

Immediately understanding what Izuku was thinking about, Rumi stood up and gently forced him to look into her eyes. "Izuku, calm down. I know it is scary for you to think about, but I promise it is not as bad as you think it is."

Feeling like his chest was constricting to the point of breaking, Izuku shook his head vehemently. "You d-d-dont know t-that! Oh g-god my life i-is r-r-ruined!"

"Izuku relax!" Rumi said forcefully as she hugged his head against her chest. "Izuku, if everyone hated you, do you think you would have that many cards and gifts? I know it is hard to believe, but almost everyone thinks you are amazing for doing everything without a quirk! I mean c'mon, you took down that monster bastard with your bare hands! That guy would have even given me trouble! I know you have a lot of bad memories associated with being quirkless, but this time it just shows how badass you are!"

Forcing himself to take deep breaths, Izuku hugged Rumi tightly like a child holding onto their favorite stuffed animal. "R-really?"

Stroking Izuku's hair like his mom used to, Rumi smiled and nodded. "Really. Hell, All-Might did a whole press announcement about how proud he was of you and shaming anyone who ever made fun of you. If that doesn't convince you I don't know what else will."

Feeling himself begin to relax slightly, Izuku closed his eyes and focused on the comforting feeling of Rumi's hands running through his hair.

"Well...t-that doesn't sound that b-bad. He said softly.

"That's what I am saying Izuku." Rumi said with a slight giggle. "God I wish I had a camera with me for when those UA kids found out. Their faces were absolutely hilarious!"

Still feeling a little uneasy, Izuku could not help but look at the table full of gifts curiously. "They weren't mad at me?"

Rumi huffed slightly. "Izuku I swear on my life that those kids probably see you as even more of a badass now that they know you are quirkless. I mean that red-haired kid looked like he was about to pass out from shock, then he started pestering me about your workout routines and how you got so manly or whatever."

Scratching his short beard awkwardly, Izuku could not stop a small grin from forming on his face. "Yeah, that does sound like Kirishima."

Izuku saw his girlfriend smile proudly as she nodded vigorously. "And you sure as hell can bet that I went on every talk show I could talking about how awesome you were. Man it was so fucking hard not to brag to everyone that I was your girlfriend."

Slowly getting out of the hospital bed, Izuku slowly got to his feet with Rumi helpfully supporting him.

"Ugh, I need a shower...and a haircut...and a shave…" Izuku mumbled to himself.

Sticking close to Izuku, Rumi gestured to the door of the hospital room. "There are some showers down the hall, and I am sure there are some scissors and razors around here somewhere."

Nodding, Izuku slowly hobbled towards the door. "So now what?"

A brilliant smile on her face, Rumi shrugged. "Well you are probably gonna be busy for at least a week once everyone finds out you woke up. Sasaki has already set up a whole press tour and everything. Time for your time in the spotlight, babe."

Izuku paused with his hand on the doorknob and gave his grinning girlfriend a curious look.

"Babe?" Izuku asked shyly, obviously thrown off by the sudden term of affection.

Rumi leaned up and gave Izuku a kiss on the cheek as she giggled softly. "Or do you prefer honey? What about darling?"

Izuku felt a blush creep across his face as he smiled shyly and shrugged. "Honestly? All of them. But that means you are gonna get the same treatment as well...sweetheart."

Now it was Rumi's turn to blush as a lustful look came across her face. "Oh I think I can deal with it. Now get into that shower before I lock the door and jump your bones."

Laughing softly, Izuku nodded and slowly made his way to the showers.

Rumi hummed happily to herself as she watched a freshly showered and shaved Izuku take off his hospital gown and put on some sweatpants and a t-shirt.

"Goddamn that view never gets old." Rumi thought to herself as she got a good long look at Izuku's naked body before it was covered up by clothing once again.

Helping Izuku back into the hospital bed, Rumi was about to suggest some cuddle time when her cell phone began to ring loudly. Grumbling under her breath, Rumi looked at the caller ID then answered the call.

"What's up Sasaki?" Rumi said bluntly.

Miss Sasaki's stern voice emanated from the phone speakers. "Word spreads fast Rumi. Social media is already reporting that Midoriya woke up. Luckily the hospital is good at keeping the press out, but I already have had a dozen calls from people wanting to meet your boyfriend. What does he want to do?"

Rumi turned to look at Izuku who was idly reading the day's newspaper. "Izuku, lotsa people wanna meet with you. It's your show, what do you want to do?"

Izuku sighed loudly. "Keep the press out, I don't have the patience to deal with those vultures right now. But since I am up I might as well get the most pressing stuff out of the way. Official business first, then people we trust can visit."

Nodding in agreement, Rumi relayed Izuku's directions to her agent and then ended the call.

"Well now I guess my cuddle time has to wait." Rumi pouted cutely.

Less than fifteen minutes later, there was a polite knock on the door. Opening the door, Rumi was surprised to see the Prime Minister, and his security detail standing outside.

"Hello Miruko." The Prime Minister said politely. "I have come to speak to Agent Midoriya."

Nodding respectfully, Rumi watched as the Prime Minister motioned for his security to wait outside then entered the room. Walking over to stand at the end of Izuku's hospital bed, the Prime Minister smiled and gave Izuku a small bow.

"You are certainly quite an interesting man to read up on Agent Midoriya." The older man said cryptically. "First off, I would like to congratulate you on your heroic actions in regard to bringing the man known as Director Fujikawa to justice. There is an official award ceremony planned a few weeks from now after you have fully recovered."

Rumi smiled happily, ecstatic that Izuku was finally getting the recognition he deserved. However, the serious look on Izuku's face made her smile fade.

"But that is not the real reason why you are here, sir. Isn't it?" Izuku said flatly.

Confused, Rumi looked to see the Prime Minister cough awkwardly and nod.

"You are correct, agent." The older man stated before turning to Rumi. "Miruko, would please excuse us for a minute?"

"She will stay right here." Izuku said authoritatively. "She already knows everything about me sir, there is no point in hiding the truth from her."

Arching an eyebrow in surprise, the Prime Minister shrugged before continuing.

"Very well. I will be blunt Agent Midoriya, considering your involvement with Director Fujikawa and his illegal and immoral activities, it has been decided that you will publicly announce your retirement immediately."

Rumi's mood changed from happy to angry in a second, and it took all of her willpower not to punch the Prime Minister in the nose.

"What the hell?!" Rumi exclaimed loudly. "After everything Izuku has done, you are just going to dump him like yesterday's dirty laundry?!"

Surprisingly, Izuku held up a hand to stop Rumi from continuing her tirade.

"Rumi, it's okay." The green-haired man said placatingly. "I expected this to happen, and the Prime Minister is well within his rights to ask this of me."

Nodding thankfully for the explanation, the Prime Minister turned to Rumi with a stern look on his face.

"Miruko, this decision was not made lightly." The older man said calmly. "Agent Midoriya is no doubt one of the most well-trained and successful agents in the entire Ministry of Defense, however that does not excuse his actions under the direction of Fujikawa. If the public found out that their national hero was actually a black-ops specialist who had a hand in the brutal crackdown on pro-heroes, the blowback would be catastrophic. By no means are we throwing Agent Midoriya out on the street. He will still have access to all the benefits given to government employees, as well as a rather generous pension plan. This is the best route of action we can take."

While it all made sense logically, it still pissed Rumi off that her boyfriend was being forced into retirement simply because of some bad things he did in the past.

"I understand sir, thank you for your generosity." Izuku said diplomatically. "To be honest, I was getting a little burned out anyways. I think a career change is just the thing I need right now."

Smiling understandingly, the Prime Minister nodded in agreement. "I agree. Either way, the programs and directives enacted by Fujikawa have all been suspended until further investigation. That includes the hero-liaison program, so this will probably be the last time you two see each other in a professional setting."

Rumi smirked, if only the Prime Minister knew.

"Understood sir, thank you for visiting." Izuku said respectfully. "As soon as I am able to, I will announce my intent to retire."

Nodding, the Prime Minister winked at Izuku and Rumi.

"Well just think of it this way. At least this means you two can finally make your romantic relationship public."

Rumi frowned, apparently the Prime Minister did know after all.

Chuckling, Izuku nodded in understanding as the Prime Minister left the room with a friendly wave.

The next few visitors were various bureaucratic officials wanting to suck up to Izuku, and by the end of the visits Rumi had a headache and the urge to kick something.

"Are finally done talking to all the government slimeballs?" Rumi said loudly after the last bureaucrat had left.

Izuku nodded. "That was the last one. Now we can finally let some friends stop by."

The first visitor was Miyu, and when the tall woman walked into the room the normally stoic agent looked like she wanted to shrivel up and disappear from embarrassment.

"Heya Miyu!" Rumi said happily as she hugged her friend. "What's wrong? Why the long face?"

It took a minute for Miyu to finally get the courage to speak. Eventually she turned to Izuku and bowed so deeply her head nearly touched the floor.

"I am so sorry sir!" Miyu said loudly. "I never knew that...you had such a hard time keeping your secret from everyone! I deeply apologize for anything I ever said that might have offended you!"

Izuku chuckled. "First off, raise your head Tanaka. Secondly, drop the sir. I am retiring, so there is no need for you to act like you are my subordinate."

Her head snapping up in shock, Miyu mouth opened and closed several times before she managed to collect herself. "You are leaving!?" The shark-toothed woman said in dismay. "But...but...who will lead the team?!"

Izuku smiled warmly and pointed at Miyu. "I figured you would. You will make a great team leader."

Miyu blushed bright red and shook her head vehemently. "Me in charge?! No way! I appreciate the gesture, but I am not leadership material at all! You know me Midoriya, I am better at following orders than giving them!"

"Stop selling yourself short Miyu." Rumi said encouragingly. "Back at the headquarters you were so badass leading those guys through the battlefield! You definitely have what it takes!"

Miyu was quiet for a moment before peeking through her black hair at Rumi. "Really?" she said quietly. "You mean it?"

Rumi nodded vigorously. "Hell yeah! Someone needs to fill Izuku's shoes, and I can't think of anyone better than the person who has been working with him the longest. You will do great!"

Miyu was quiet for a moment before speaking. "Thanks si-...I mean Midoriya. I will try to live up to your expectations." Apparently remembering something, Miyu perked up a little bit as she spoke. "By the way, Cassandra sends her congratulations. She is wrapping up her tour in the United States, and as soon as she is able to, she said she will come back to visit."

Rumi smiled happily at the news. "That is great! Maybe we can do a video call or something later."

Nodding in agreement, Miyu gave Izuku one more deep bow. "Thanks for everything Midoriya. You may not think so, but a lot of people in the department really look up to you. You know that if you ever need anything I am just a call away."

Izuku blushed a little and smiled. "Thanks Tanaka. I appreciate it. Tell everyone in the department I said hi."

After Miyu left, there were a couple more visitors. Ranging from Izuku's old department leader to several pro-heroes wanting to congratulate Izuku on a job well done.

A few hours later, Rumi's enhanced hearing picked up the sounds of excited chatter and many footsteps.

"Look sharp Izuku." Rumi said teasingly. "Looks like your fan club is here."

Izuku gave Rumi a confused look, but before he could say anything the door opened to reveal Uraraka, Ashido, Iida, Kirishima, Yaoyorozu, Eraserhead, Midnight, and All-Might.

There was a second of awkward silence before Uraraka stepped forward with her head bowed respectfully.

"H-hello Agent Midoriya." The brown haired girl said softly. "When we heard you had woken up we wanted to visit you as soon as possible to apologize for anything we might have done or said to offend you."

Cracking a smile, Izuku waved away Uraraka's apology. "Don't sweat it, Uraraka. You guys didn't know. You have nothing to apologize for."

Immediately, the rest of the class rushed forward all trying to speak over each other.

"Dude you are so freakin manly!" Kirishima exclaimed. "Using just your bare hands and no quirk against that Fujikawa guy was so cool!"

As the classmates rapidly spoke over each other, a strange sound could be heard.

As Izuku's warm laughter bounced around the room, everyone looked at the green-haired man like he had just grown a second head.

"You guys always know how to brighten up my day." Izuku said as he chuckled. "Promise me you will keep that energy when you all grow up."

"Umm...what the heck?!" Ashido finally said loudly. "Did you hit your head or something Agent Midoriya? You sound like you actually meant that."

Izuku grinned at the flabbergasted Ashido. "And what if I did? Is it so hard to believe that I can be nice when I want to?"

Stepping forward, Yaoyorozu gave Izuku a curious look as she bowed respectfully. "Apologies, Agent Midoriya. It is just strange to see you...um… not grumpy."

Smiling, Izuku shrugged as he spoke. "Well I guess after everything that has happened I have a new perspective on life. Also you all can just call me Midoriya, I am retiring effective immediately."

Suddenly All-Might stepped forward with concern clearly written on his face. "Retiring?! Why?! You are the most outstanding agent I have ever met, you have the potential to help so many people in your line of work!"

Leaning back slightly, Izuku shook his head. "Sorry sir, but I am not the hero everyone is making me out to be. All my life I have been hurting people in the name of the greater good, and I am simply sick of it. I want my life to mean something more than just the amount of pain I have inflicted on my enemies."

"Well there goes my whole plan for lecturing him about hurting people." Midnight said light-heartedly. "Humble, good-looking, and cognizant of his shortcomings. Geez, this guy is prime husband material. You wouldn't happen to be single would you?"

Rumi spluttered at the sheer boldness of Midnight's words, but before she could retort Iida had interjected himself into the conversation.

"Unfortunately, Age-...I mean Midoriya already has a significant other." Iida said matter-of-factly. "We met her in the past, and it was clear the two were head-over-heels for each other."

"Wait a minute!" Ashido exclaimed as she looked around the room. "Where is your girlfriend? I thought she would have been worried sick and been here this entire time."

Rumi was about to make up an excuse, but Izuku seemed to already have an answer for that question.

"What do you mean?" Izuku said with a cheeky grin on his face. "She has been here this entire time."

As everyone looked around the room curiously like the mysterious girlfriend was invisible or something, Rumi could not help but blush bright red as she waited for the UA group to finally realize what Izuku meant.

Finally, Ashido put the pieces together.

"NO FUCKING WAY!" The pink girl squealed with glee as she saw Rumi's blushing face. "You and Miruko?!"

As everyone gasped in shock, Izuku smiled and reached out to hold Rumi's hand.

"Yup." The green-haired man confirmed. "We are no longer working together, so now is as good a time as any to tell you all."

"But wait a second!" Kirishima said loudly in confusion. "Who was that we met at the arcade?! She looks nothing like Miruko!"

Rumi laughed softly at the confusion on the red-haired teen's face.

"Cosmetics are a hell of a thing kid." Rumi said with a sly wink as she held Izuku's hand. "That getup is what I wear when I want to go out and unwind without drawing a crowd."

As Midnight cursed with jealousy under her breath, Eraserhead clapped his hands together to get his students' attention.

"Alright that is enough." The homeroom teacher said authoritatively. "I think we have bothered Midoriya and Miruko long enough. Time to go."

As the students let out a collective groan of dismay, Izuku nodded respectfully to Eraserhead and Midnight.

"I am glad to see you guys made it out of that mission intact." Izuku said honestly. "It's obvious you guys are a big part of these kids' lives. Take good care of them for me."

An unreadable look on his face, Eraserhead simply grunted and nodded his head before gathering his group together. With one final round of goodbyes, the students and teachers of UA left the room.

The quiet left behind was almost melancholic, and Rumi sighed softly as she held Izuku's hand.

"I wonder if that is what it will be like when we have kids." Rumi said absentmindedly.

Rumi blushed bright red as she realized what she just said, only for her heart to flutter happily as Izuku chuckled warmly.

"I know one thing for certain." Izuku said teasingly. "If our kids are anything like us, our hands will be full all the time."

Leaning over, Rumi gave Izuku a quick kiss as she happily squeezed his hand.

"I love you Izuku."

Breaking the kiss, Izuku looked up at Rumi with nothing but love and adoration in his eyes.

"I love you too Rumi."
