Shortly after hurting his hand, Milton went to the Healer's office but only found a classmate there who offered to help him.
"So, how did you get hurt?" asked a girl with black hair and blue eyes as she cleaned the open cuts on Milton's knuckles.
"I punched a tree, and I don't feel like talking about why, Gem," said Milton while looking down at the ground. All of the anger had left him and now all he could feel was sadness for hurting Elenor.
"Well I'm going to ask anyway because I have a feeling that I know the reason," said Gem, who was the daughter of Headmistress White. By this point she was done cleaning the cuts and was wrapping his hand in a bandage.
"I doubt that," said Milton.
"Elenor told you that she's not signing the Storybook of Legends, didn't she?" asked Gem as she finished.
"You knew that she was planning this?" asked a surprised Milton as he finally looked at the dark haired girl.
"She's my BFFA, who trusted me enough with the fact that you two have been dating, so of course she told me about this," said Gem while standing to put the leftover medical equipment back in the cabinets.
"She also gave me this for you earlier when I ran into her, but you should know that it's spelled to only open after making your decision tomorrow," she said while handing him an envelope which had been in her purse sitting on a nearby counter.
"Oh, and one last thing, if you hurt her then don't come running to me," said Gem before walking out of the Healer's office. After Gem was gone, Giles entered the room as he had been waiting out in the hall.
"You know you're an idiot, right?" asked Giles.
"I don't need you on my back too," said Milton before preparing to leave.
"She's the best thing to ever happen to you, Milton, don't lose her over a stupid thing like that book," said Giles as his brother walked passed him.
"It's easy for the biggest disappointment in the family to say that!" said Milton before walking out and slamming the door behind.
"If only father had died years ago, then he wouldn't be like this," said Giles with a sigh before he left the room as well.
