A/N: I'm back on my bullshit! If you remember the paternity redux challenge I made along with other great writers here you may remember the fic I made that caused me to receive pitchforks and yelling. yeah. I made a sequel of that and here it is.

staring out an open window
catching my death
Dear Olivia,
It's been awhile since I last wrote a letter for you. I've been busy dealing with everything. I hope you forgive me for that.
Life has been great by the way, Eli is now 14. How time flies isn't? He's been hooked up to football or whatever they call it here in Rome. Yes, we live here in Rome now. Crazy isn't?
I left SVU right after your funeral. I couldn't deal without you by my side. Cragen was so devastated when I put my papers in, but I know it's for the better.
Until Dana Lewis knocked on my door. Yes, Dana Lewis. The one who cried on my shoulder after she found out you died and then offered me a job; an international sting operation here in Rome. They want my expertise as a SVU Detective to take down international sex trafficking here and they're giving me my own people. Can you believe that?
Kathy was hesitant at first but at the end, she agreed to come with me. But then as I leave New York, I think about you.
I think about that one drunken night at the rooftop of your building. You ask me if there's a place I want to visit and why. When I told you that I want to go back to Prague you punched me in my arm, pouting for not bringing you with me. I just laugh at you because you were so cute that time. And when I ask what country you want to visit you didn't hesitate to answer me; Italy and Paris.
If you were alive, you would've it here.
Liv, I miss you. I know it's been 15 years and I should move on but I can't. I always visit the Saint Olivia statue in Cattedrale di Palermo and couldn't help myself think about you. How things would be different If you were still alive.
I still love you though, and Kathy knows it. We tried Liv. We really tried until we couldn't take it anymore and we surrendered. She packed her things and went back to New York. The older kids weren't surprised. They have been expecting it ever since.
Until the unthinkable happened.
Kathy was about to go to dinner with her new boyfriend when her car exploded. My heart was pounding when I received a phone call from Kathleen—She died.
I looked at my son who was playing football with his classmates outside and I closed my eyes as I felt my tears starting to fall.
That's when I felt your presence. Like you were telling me that everything will be fine, that Kathy is safe with you. And I believe you, Liv. I really do.
It's been a while now. Although the kids moved on from their mother's death, I decided to come back to New York—to come back to the NYPD. I know it sounds crazy but I think it's for the better.
Being back to the force has become a nice distraction for me. They offered me to lead the Organized Crime task force after they found out about my FBI stint.
I know you're proud of me. I'm proud of myself too.
Fin is now the Captain of SVU. We met at a bar and we reminisced the memories we had of you. Fin told me that if you were alive, you'd be here drinking beer with us.
Liv, I miss you so much. I miss your smile. I miss your laugh. I miss the way we spend night together in the bullpen trying to finish paperwork at twelve midnight. The way you sneak out only comes back with donuts and coffee in tow. How you roll your eyes everytime Munch tells a new conspiracy theory.
I love you, Olivia. Always.
"...And I will always love you for the rest of my life. Sincerely, Elliot." Eli said as he read the last piece of his father's letter to Olivia. He looked at his father who was peacefully sleeping in his bed. "I'll be right back, Dad."
"Hey," Eli's wife greeted him. "How did it go?"
"It went well." He said kissing his wife's temple.
"How many letters did your father write to Olivia?" His wife asked. Eli looked at the letters "Too many."
"And you're okay with that reading it? Knowing it wasn't for your mom?" His wife questioned. He nodded, then looked at his father's room. "I think Olivia loves dad too."
"How?"
"She didn't hesitate to sacrifice herself to save me. You know, sometimes I think about them."
His wife sitting at the kitchen counter suddenly becomes interested in the story of the woman that his father-in-law loves or rather, as her husband calls it: his dad's soulmate.
"You tell me."
Eli smiled at the image in his head. "They were at the beach…"
Elliot was chasing Olivia both smiling "Gotcha!" Elliot said as he caught the woman. Olivia was laughing so hard "Ok, ok. Truce!"
"Exactly." He said as he wrapped his arms around her waist "I want to stay here forever." Olivia smiled, placing her hands on his cheek, looking into his ocean eyes that she loves so much. "Then stay."
Elliot had never felt this peaceful before along with the person that he loved the most, he smiled. "I love you. So much," He said as he leaned in to kiss her.
Olivia sighed, "I love you too."
"You do?" Elliot jokes. The woman rolled her eyes, "Isn't that obvious?"
"Convince me."
"I love you, Elliot Stabler. Is that good?"
"Eh, I'll–" He didn't have a chance to finish his sentence when Olivia kissed him again. "I love you, and nothing would change it."
"I know you do." He said. "Let's go home, Olivia."
"Yeah, let's go home." She said as they walked hand in hand…
Together.
and i was catching my breath
floors of a cabin creaking under my steps.
and i couldn't be sure, i had a feeling so peculiar
this pain
wouldn't be for…evermore.
