"SPARTA TO BATTLE!"

Ruby's eyes opened to see the dark and musky concrete of the D6 compound. Next to her stood Artyom clad full in makeshift protective armor. A shoddily reinforced Russian k6 helmet sat on his head with the thick metal face plate covering his face with the only view of the person under it being the viewing window in front of his eyes. His arms and chest were reinforced with thick steel while another piece of steel and kevlar covered his neck. He was in all intents and purposes a juggernaut. Around her stood various members of the Spartan rangers each clad head to toe in combat gear.

She had, only a few minutes before she and Artyom were thrust in front of a hastily reinforced blast door. Suddenly a tram train burst through causing dust to be shot up into the air. A few moments passed before the train car exploded, forcing everyone to the ground with the blastwave. Then the screaming could be heard echoing off the tunnel walls as scores upon scores of Reds charged through the new opening. Ruby forced her grogginess to the side and grabbed her rifle. She only had the pipe like rifle made out of the remnants of her beloved though anyone else in the metro would have just called it a Preved. Hoisting the long rifle up she scoped in and gave a quick scan of the kill grounds. Her primary targets were the heavily armed and armored Reds as well as those with rockets and flamethrowers. Seeing none, she chose a target and fired before racking the bolt in a fraction of a second after pulling the trigger. She was running on autopilot, she found a human-like silhouette, pulled the trigger, racked the bolt, and repeated. She gave a side glance to see Artyom with his AK precisely shoot each one of the filthy Reds. This continued for a short while before she got a glimpse of a smoking red projectile passing her by.

Suddenly the wall behind her exploded, forcing her again to the ground. She was even more disorientated, her ears rung, her vision was shaky and she felt like she would fall over even though she was already on the ground. Her Aura managed to mitigate the nausea effects as well as all the other damage and was one of the first ones able to see the carnage the first wave had brought. Bodies both intact and dismembered lay around her. Quickly spotting Artyom she grabbed him seeing he was still conscious she went behind him and looped her arms under his and then attempted to drag him. He wasn't a heavy normally but with all his armor he gained a few kilos but nothing her strength and Aura couldnt handle. Dragging him to the next set of fortifications, she saw the empty eyes of the fallen Ranger, some from chest wounds while others had chunks of their head missing. Ignoring the carnage to the best of her abilities she dragged him and herself over the concrete barriers and into cover. Artyom gave her a nod before they both returned to the fight. It went on much the same till the Reds began to retreat once again. She could faintly hear others shouting, her ears still rung from the constant gunfire and explosions in the tunnels. Then the sudden flash of a tank shell piercing through the fortifications on her right shook her from her state.

"TANK" were the last words she heard before everything went black

Ruby sat up in her bed sweating and panting. She was drenched in sweat and her bed was ruffled and a mess. She took some time to collect herself before scanning her team bunks and then the clock.

All of her teammates appeared to be asleep with all of them snuggled up cozy in their beds oblivious to their disheveled teammate. The clock on the bookshelves between their bunks read 6:43 and she could see the hints of a rising sun. Ruby sat there in thought contemplating what to do next. Quietly she descended from her and made her way to her backpack before heading to their shared bathroom unaware of the pair of eyes secretly watching her from another bunk. Upon entering the bathroom she leaned on the sink and stared up at her reflection. It was normal at first but with every blink the scene behind her reflection changed until she could see the tunnels of D6 with thew flashing warning light as well as the bodys of those she saw her and Artyom's relatively short time with the Rangers she hasn't made a lot of friends but yet there was a sense of brotherhood between them all. The dead in the reflections began to reach out for her, asking questions that each sounded similar to "Why did you abandon us" in a haunting tone. She quickly shook her head to clear these thoughts and when she looked back the mirror was back to normal. Calming her breathing she hopped in the shower and kept it on cold for a few seconds before exiting the stared at the mirror before she heard the rustling of her teammates. Thinking quickly she changed her shirt from the tank top to a t-shirt with the same blue and white line. Leaving the bathroom with a new she was met with her waking teammates.

"Morning Rubes, how'd ya sleep" Yang asked as she began to stretch

"Good, woke up a bit early..Staryye privychki umirayut s trudom" She said

"If you're going to keep speaking that language at least tell us what you're saying" Weiss said as she got up from her bead

"Old habits die hard," Ruby said as she sat down and began writing in her old journal." You must remind me to teach you one of these days it's a beautiful language."

"Your not going to use my new journal" Weiss asked

"Vo vremya, I wanna keep all my..notes in order, besides I'm already storing pictures in it I'll show you later go get ready u nas malo vremeni(we have little time)" Ruby said casually

"Cant Yang got to it first" Weiss said, pointing to the bathroom. Ruby chuckled before seeing Blake 'read' her book in her school kept focus on her in her peripheral vision seeing something peculiar before and saying something under her breath.

"What was that" Blake said

"Mhmm.. what…. Oh you mean what i just mumbled its, Bezhit v sem'ye direct translation is runs to family, I'm assuming you can figure that out" Ruby said casually

"Why do you say that" Blake asked cautiously. Weiss gave her a worried look as she said that.

Ruby paused for a moment before chuckling a bit "With my faction in the Metro, I was one of the few girls and one of the fewer girls to have hair long enough to reach my shoulders so they eventually began to call me a water hog for obvious reasons"

"Where were the rest of the women" Blake asked

"Fertile women are a rare thing in the Metro no less a beautiful one. Life is hard as it is and more or less those who were blessed enough to not have their insides ravished by the radiasiya chose to raise families rather than fight, but there were several who did choose to fight.

"I see, well i guess you are following in the footsteps of your sister after all" Yang said as she gestured to Weiss to use the bathroom.

"What's radiatsya?" Blake asked

"It almost like an omnipresent disease that breaks you down on a subatomic level and cause infertility and a whole host of other terrible diseases" Ruby responded without looking up from her journal

"You didn't catch it did you?" Yang asked in a concerned voice.

"Its-" Ruby tried to respond but was cut off by a ding from her scroll "Prostri Sestrukha, Ozpin wants me to do my physical and therapy with Peach right now" Ruby said as she got up grabbing her journal and rifle before leaving. Blake stared suspiciously at the door for a sec before returning to her book and Yang to stare concerningly.

"Good Morning Ruby, My have you grown" she greeted. Ruby was welcomed by a woman wearing a lab coat, long gloves, and a small skirt. She was decently tall around the same height as ruby with her hair in a bun

"Privet doktor, if you don't mind I'd like to get back to my team as quickly as possible. They worry too much" Ruby responded

"Alrighty I'll have you out and about in no time, now we'll begin with a standard physical followed by blood drawing, a few tissue samples, and finally a psychological evaluation which will serve as your first therapy session. Sounds good" she said while writing things down on a clipboard. Ruby nodded and prepared for the physical.

It was, as she stated, a standard physical, blood pressure testing, breathing and other test to check her overall well being along with questions about family history and other concerns she has. Naturally Ruby was vague and untrusting of the doctor but still allowed the test to be performed. Next Peach drew some blood in vials, as well as a few other samples of her tissues. Finally they came to the psych evaluation.

The evaluation was just various questions ranging from "Have you recently lost a loved one" to "Have you ever had thoughts about self harm" It continued for a few minutes before Peach ended it. And they bid their goodbyes. But as Ruby left Peach could only stare with concern. She was broken from her stare when her scroll rang.

"Ahh I presume the screening went well enough"

"No, No I wouldn't say that. The only word I would use to describe her is concerning. I dont have the results from all the tests but it doesn't look good at all. Ozpin she a dead woman walking I don't even know how shes still walking and not bed ridden"

"Give me what you currently have" Ozpin responded in a serious tone

"Her blood pressure is below average, her blood is viscous and clumpy, her mental state is on the verge of shattering, x rays show her lungs are damaged her Aura is being overworked, and if these medical records from atlas are accurate then she's vomiting blood and her white blood cell counts are dangerously low. It's like she has been stuck in the Forbidden Tunnels for years while in a warzone "

Ozpin took a second to process everything she had just said before responding. "Thank you for your work and concern. Well keep an eye on her physical and mental state. But for now we must wait for the rest of the results to come in. Thank you again" He said before hanging up

Peach just stood there in thought trying to imagine what environment could possibly do this
