"Now who can tell me what the forbidden tunnels are...ahh Ms. Schnee" Oobleck said in his normal speedy demeanor
"The Forbidden Tunnels are a series of abandoned mine tunnels within the Atlas mountain system," Weiss responded with her normal confidence.
"Indeed. The Forbidden Tunnels are abandoned Atlesean Tunnels which were once owned by the SDC. The mines carry an immense amount of dust yet the majority of the dust is unmineable due to its terrible effects on humans and Faunus" he said zipping around the classroom "The tunnels emit a form of radiation and cause great health defects to those who enter the tunnels for any period of time. Many theories have arisen about what causes this but none have been tested for obvious reasons. Now, this links into our lesson…" Ruby at that point had begun to drown him out with her own thoughts
It was funny that her own home had no knowledge of nuclear weapons. And a part of her wanted to keep it like that, to keep her home away from discovering the power of the atom but another part of her knew it was only a matter of time before some debil discovers it and completely fucks it up. She hoped her people were smarter than the ones from earth but then again the other part of her knew that was optimistic thinking. Seeing that his lecture was going on for ages she decided to write in her journal.
I have been home for only a single day and it's the same and different at the same time. Everyone is aloof, unaware, or uncaring of what's around them. I never noticed then but I noticed now how apathetic everyone is. It's odd. I will admit it's funny seeing my people so puzzled about the Forbidden Tunnels. Though I must say I can't blame them, my world has no concept of ionizing radiation or the weapons that harness it. Though a part of me wonders, if I tell them about it and the weapons are created, would they use them solely for the elimination of the Grimm? A big part of m-
"Ruby the bells has rung it's time to go," Yang said while jostling her
"Yeah izvinyayus' (sorry) I guess I was lost in my thoughts"
"What are you writing" Blake inquired
"Some notes, some thoughts, whatever my mind can come up with"
"Why are you still writing in that chicken scratch?"
"Zacroy svoy peesavati rot, sooka(Shut your fucking mouth bitch)" Ruby snapped in a harsh tone
"Excuse me?"
"Nothing nothing, just sentimental about it," Ruby said " Just go ahead to the next class I'll catch up with you, bezopasnoye puteshestviye, moi druz'ya (Safe travels my friends-)" Ruby said
"You are going to teach us that one day," Yang said as they left.
Ruby began to gather her things but stopped and stared at Blake for a second before writing in her journal
-Me wants to trust them, but I'm going to have to wait and see, but for now, I must follow up on an assumption I have.
Before packing up her things and speeding her way to their next classes. The classes were a blur to Ruby. She just sat pretending to pay attention and either writing or drawing in her journal. The only event that was really of note was professor Peach's class and even then it was just giving her a look of concern.
But finally, the gods decided to throw her a bone and it was the last class of the day, Combat Class. It was a breath of fresh air, she may have changed but her love of weapons persisted. Though she admired the people of Moscow's ingenuity, their weapons were drab and boring looking. She missed the interesting and unique weapons of her home, the only weapon from earth she loves above all was her trusted Preved affectionately known as Crescent Rose Mk.2, and she's itching to be in a fight.
"Listen up, well start off with randomized pairs, you all know the rules so pls don't kill or maim any students," Good Witch said while looking towards Nora. She pressed a button on her scroll
"Ruby Rose and Cardin Winchester please get ready."
Ruby got up and could see the death glare Cardin but she didn't care, she just wanted the day to end. She got to her locker and removed her uniform and donned her gear. She left the jacket in the locker but wore everything else she brought back. She grabbed her Preved and checked the added mechanisms. Grabbing her revolver and a combat knife she closed her locker and made her way to the arena.
She could see Cardin confidently waiting for her. Ruby just steeled herself and got to her position.
"Combatants ready. Three... Two-" Glynda called out but was tuned out by Ruby. She closed her eyes and calmed her breathing. Time seemed to slow as she opened her eyes to see Cardin charging at her. She simply sidestepped and knocked him in the head with the butt of her rifle. He staggered for a bit before she flipped a switch and a flat rusty blade flipped out from under the rifle's barrel. She swiftly used the momentum from her first hit, she quickly spun the new war scythe's blade wrapped around his throat and threw him across the arena. He managed to use his momentum to flip himself onto his feet and fire a few shots back at Ruby. All the bullets found their mark as Ruby attempted to tank the rounds. They pushed her back and distracted her enough for Cardin to come up and attack.
He threw wild strikes at her. The first one connected as Ruby attempted to react to the blows. She raised her rifle and cross, blocked his strike, and quickly struck his side. With that strike, they separated for a bit before and devolved into a flurry of attacks and blocks. Both used their weapons' momentum to continue their attacks. Each movement led semi-fluidly to the next with wide arcs and quick strikes. Unfortunately for Ruby she slipped up and got her rifle stuck between Cardin's mace and his body before he threw her rifle across the floor. He looked at her with a smug grin for a split second before he felt 6 great pains in his chest that staggered him to the floor. Ruby had reacted quickly and upholstered her pistol and fanned the hammer releasing all six shots in the span of a few seconds,
After he stumbled back, Ruby's view began to change. The circular arena began to change to the decaying tunnels of the metro again except it was somewhat cleaner than the normal tunnels, with red banners and speakers blaring out propaganda. Cardin no longer looked like him but morphed into the face and fatigues of a traitor's face. She lost control and began to beat the man ruthlessly. From her perspective, she was beating him for hours but was brought back to reality by a firm yank in the opposite direction. For a moment she still saw the man but one blink later she saw a bloodied and beaten Cardin on the ground.
"Ruby Rose,-" Glynda tried to command but was stopped by Ozpin appearing behind her.
Ruby's stone face facade broke as she looked at the bleeding boy. Her faces a mix of distress, empathy, and sadness. She sat there staring at him while the sounds around her became muffled. She felt herself being lifted up by her teammates before she broke from her trance.
"Ozpin what are you doing" Glynda swathed out
"Saving your voice. She needs time to adjust and return to normalcy" he responded calmly
In their dorm Ruby remained sitting on her bed, her gaze hasn't broken from the bottom of Weiss's bed for the past thirty minutes.
"You okay Rubes" Yang asked as she nudged her sister's arm
"I'm fine I just need some time to myself"
"That's a lie if I've ever heard one," Blake said
"Kakogo khrena ty znayesh(what the fuck do you know)'" Ruby grumbled "you don't know what is going through my mind"
"You're right I don't, so tell us" Blake responded the two stared each other down for a few seconds before Ruby sighed.
"Listen, Blake, I'm tired, not just physically but...I...I just need time" RUby said trying her best to not disclose more than she wanted "Can you just drop it for now and later I'll tell you Ladno(ok)?" She said
"I'll hold you to that" Blake said
"A Spartan always keeps their word" Ruby responded "but now I must study, I'm behind on everything and prefer not to die of boredom."
The night passed like any other, both here and in the Metro. It's surprisingly similar to nights on the Aurora, minus the parties, vodka and tea but that's besides the point. That and the suspicious eyes of Blake, it's become a game of cat and mouse now, we're both hiding something I have to find out before she does. Tomorrow, thats a frightening thought the more I think about it. How has my home changed, how will I view it,and how will it turn out? Too many suspicions and thoughts in my head for it to go away. Though I hope it's like I remember it, the stores, people and the weapons, oh how I have missed those. It's frightening and exciting to think about.
HOWDY YOU SEXY MOTHERFUCKERS
I hath returned with a new chapter for you all to consume a month after last updating. I've been very busy with school, activities, and work that I haven't had time to write but I'm starting to find the time. Thank you all for reading. I hope you enjoyed it… but now it is time for the news. Firstly I'm planning on starting a series of silly random bullshit one-shots of stories that are funny enough shit posts to write but not enough for a full-blown story. It's all just going to be one story that is going to be updated randomly. Two, Beacon Fall is going to either be rewritten or shelved for now cause I've lost the will to write it yall lost the will to read it and it's just not fun to write right now so it's on hold… again. Three I'm thinking about doing more Warhammer crossovers, with either expanding the chaos within the story with stories about how the other kingdoms have fallen or doing some random shit with space marines, don't know right now. So look out for those in the future. Anyways hope yall enjoyed it and I'll see you next time.
