Roszen and Lady met up not too far from Dante's shop, Devil May Cry. They walked for a bit in silence before Lady decided to break it. "Ok, there's no real good way to ask this... You're part demon, correct?"

"Uh... yeah," Roszen replied, not knowing where she was going with this. "How else would I've shrugged off being stabbed multiple times?"

"Right." Lady waved off the moment of awkwardness. "Could you tell me more about this job you're adamant about going on with Dante?"

"I won't tell you much unless Dante accepts." She satiated. "But what I will say is this, I want to rescue my mother from a fairly powerful demon and then kill the bastard, so he doesn't do this again."

"What would a demon want with a human?"

Roszen felt her muscles tighten as her blood rushed through her. She gripped a handle of a knife as she slowly breathed out. "I don't know... Mother never really talked about my own demon heritage unless it was absolutely necessary. My only guess is she owed him something." She saw the shop coming into view and quickened her pace. "She kept a lot of things from me."

"How long has it been since your mother's capture?" Lady asked while catching up.

Just before they reached the front door, Roszen stopped dead. "Two years..." Her shoulders sagged.

"How do you even know she's alive?!"

She pressed a hand against something under her shirt. "I just know." With that, she opened the door.

The inside of Devil May Cry was a sufficient, although a bit dirty, one room office. It had a coffee table with two couches on one side of the room and a pool table with a drum set near it on the other. There was an upstairs balcony, but in the middle of the room was a large desk and chair with a man sleeping with his feet on the desk and an adult magazine over his face.

"Welcome to Devil May Cry!" A young girl's voice came from the couch. She was a few years younger than Roszen, with long wavy blond hair and big blue eyes. She wore a cute little maid outfit that was covered in dust.

She grabbed a broom and whacked the sleeping man with it. "Wake up, Dante! Lady's back and she brought a friend!"

"Oi, Patty!" Dante shot straight up, batting away the broom. He had medium length silver hair and blue eyes. He wore a red leather coat, a red vest, a black long sleeve shirt, gloves, red pants, and leather boots. "Lady! Good to see you; still don't have any of the money I owe you, but I'm getting there." He stood to greet her and quickly saw Roszen. "Why did you bring a pipsqueak with you?"

"Who are you calling pipsqueak, you lazy oaf!?" Roszen was being held back by Lady as she somehow got a hold of the broom ready to whack the man with it. "Just because I'm short doesn't mean shit!" Patty jumped at her use of language and Lady shot Dante a glare.

"Hey now, no need to get angry about it." He put his hands up in a mock surrender. Roszen calmed down a bit but still glared daggers at him. "So why are you here with my friend Lady?"

Her mood switched on a dime. Giving the broom back to Patty, she stood with her hands behind her back. "I'm here to offer you a job, with an acceptance pay that's doubled upon completion."

"Must be a serious job," he said as he took a seat back at his desk. She responded by tossing him a check. It landed perfectly on the desk. "Well, that's the next three months rent." He looked up at the redhead. "So what's the job?"

"I need your help rescuing my mother from demons and killing the one responsible," Roszen said plainly. "Mother was taken nearly two years ago now, and she's not the first he's taken, nor the last."

"Ok, how do you even know she's still alive? Two years as a demon's slave or worse is not something many humans survive."

Roszen dug into her shirt and pulled out a purple rose necklace that glowed in her hand. Dante had a look of shock; he clearly recognized the necklace. He got up to get a closer look at Roszen before speaking. "You're her daughter?" She nodded. "It's been years since I've seen or heard from her."

"Mother knew a few tricks; she somehow tied some of her life force to this necklace. It's glowing so I know she's alive." She tucked the necklace back under her shirt. "However it is weakening; I don't know how much longer she can hold out."

"I hate to be rude, but who are you two talking about?" Patty spoke up.

"Briallan Goldsworth was a lady I knew not long after naming the shop. She was a psychologist that Lady recommended I visit after everything that had happened that day," Dante explained. "I gave her that necklace as a birthday and a thank you present; she disappeared not long after that." His face fell as he recalled the memories.

"I'm surprised I didn't see the resemblance sooner," Lady spoke as she stood in front of Roszen. "You definitely have her hair and looks but not her eyes; hers were green." Lady noted the girl's blue eyes.

"Mother always told me I had my father's eyes..."

"Where is your old man during all this? I never thought she'd settle down with anyone," Dante asked.

Roszen shrugged her shoulders. "I never knew my father. Mother never really talked about him other than he was part demon."

"So you're part demon as well; do you know how much?" She shook her head no.

"That reminds me, I take it your tail isn't a devil arm?" Lady asked. "It's pretty strong, being able to pierce through minor demons with ease."

Roszen undid the ring hiding her tail. It unraveled itself from her waist and swayed behind her. "It's my actual tail, grew it when I was around six or so. That was the day my mother told me I was part demon." She wrapped it around Patty's waist and lifted her up without effort. "And it is strong; it can hold my weight if needed." Patty was let down as soon as she was lifted. "So are you helping me or not?"

"Well..." Dante looked at the other two in the room; they clearly wanted him to help her. "Something tells me you're going after them with or without my help?" She nodded again. He sighed. "Welp, best not to let a kid do a grownup's job; I'm in."

She stuck out her hand for him to shake, which he did. "That's good to hear. Because-" the power to the building shut off. "-Morrison said you might have needed this job."

Suddenly Patty kicked Dante in the shin. "Dante, you forgot to pay the electric bill again!?"

"Ah! Patty!"
