Well, here we are. The finale. After over a year since I started this, I'm finally at the end. I have a good amount of things to say, but I'll save it for later. Sorry this took so long. It was a combination of trying to find the motivation, work, family and trying not to burn myself out. In the end, I pushed through and got it done. And for your patience (and that it's the last chapter), I have a treat for you guys. For the first time, I'm including the official Total Drama Legends theme song.
Hope ya enjoy!
Kirbystar: Yup, the final race was a reference to the Mojave Desert. If you go back actually, you'll see that those three interact a lot.
Deadakus, Gman and Goatedreads: Thank you. Much appreciated.
404: Interesting idea. I wasn't really aiming for likeability, I was more aiming for entertainment, but I get what you mean.
Infinity Wizard: Originally, I was going to keep them all separate, but I realized how annoying and boring that would get for both me and the readers. I'm glad you like Duncan and Sammy's friendship.
Thank you to everyone else who left reviews.
A military helicopter was shown landing on Kihci Island. Chris began the usual opening narration. "Last time on Total Drama Legends. An ex-convict, an ex-cheerleader and an ex...terminator. This was our final three, and boy did they go the ex-tra mile in our 'race to the finish' challenge. Duncan and Sammy formed an alliance to make sure Jo wouldn't go to the finale. Jo, on the other hand, went on an all out search party for myself and Chef, and found absolutely nothing. Where were we?" He chuckled. "I'll never tell. Man, did these guys take some punishment though. Waterfalls, bears, raccoons, rabid chipmunks, hawks and goodness knows what else. They all wanted the five million, but only two could move on. And unfortunately for the D-Man, his impressive run had come to an end."
The camera flashed to a shot of Chris, walking up to the helicopter. "Now only two remain. Who's gonna walk away with the win? Will it be the Jockette with the unbreakable spirit? Or the ever unpredictable and resilient Sammy? Stick around to find out." He gave a few taps on the chopper. "And just where are we taking our final two for their ultimate final challenge? You'll just have to wait and see. You've already stuck around this long, so what's a few more minutes? Get ready because you're watching the epic conclusion of...Total...Drama...Legends!"
(Music Starts)
A stage light rises onto the screen, behind it is a western movie set that looks poorly made. A second stage light swings from above the screen, in front of the woods. A camera then pops out a sewer cover. A bird is nesting on top of a clock tower. A camera pops out from underneath it, surprising the creature. Two hands appear from the side of the screen, with a slate in hand. It claps it. There is a quick flash of white.
Dear Mom and Dad, I'm doing fine
We follow a camera as it moves towards a plane in the air, being piloted by Chef and Chris. Chef is wearing a pilot's suit, while Chris has his feet up on the dash. The camera crashes through the window of the plane. Chef shields his face from the glass, while Chris falls backwards. The camera continues through the plane. First through first class, then through a curtain into loser class. It goes down a ladder, leading to the exit hatch.
You guys are on my mind
Tyler is in front of the exit hatch as it opens. He looks back at the camera and gives a thumbs up, before jumping out, with a parachute on his back. The camera passes him and goes into a cloud and then into the water.
You asked me what I wanted to be…
We see Owen, underwater. Some fish disperse as he swims by. Noah swims by in a panic, being chased by a shark. Owen sees the two and gives chase.
...and now I think the answer's plain to see
The camera moves up and out of the water, revealing a beach where Leshawna is tanning. The camera zooms out to reveal Scott, holding a bucket that he promptly dumps onto her. The bucket contains multiple crabs that pinch her. Leshawna winces in pain, as Scott laughs.
I wanna be...famous
The camera looks up at a figure falling through the sky. The camera moves back down. Dawn is meditating on top of a tree stump. She is surrounded by birds and chipmunks. Tyler suddenly appears out of nowhere. His parachute has deployed and he is hanging in a nearby tree. His sudden appearance startles Dawn and the animals. The chipmunks and birds immediately attack, pecking and biting Tyler's face. The Jock waves his arms around in a panic, while Dawn looks concerned. The camera zooms into the woods.
I wanna live close to the sun...
Amy and Sammy are both at a catering table at the abandoned film lot. Sammy is facing the camera, with a sandwich in hand, while her sister has her back to it. Sammy notices that the camera is on her and she smiles and waves nervously. Amy turns back, realizes Samey looking at the camera and shoves her forward. As she's falling, Samey's hand hits the camera, causing it to turn
Or pack your bags cause I've already won
The camera lands on Heather and Alejandro on a movie set with a city background of Paris. They are both about to kiss each other, until Heather notices the camera is on her, then looks back at Alejandro. She shoves him to the ground and turns away from him. The camera zooms out to show the Latino on the ground, rubbing his back.
Everything to prove, nothing in my way…
Cody runs past the two in a panic. Alejandro and Heather watch him, confused, until Sierra crashes through the backdrop, riding an ATV. She is laughing like a maniac. Heather and Alejandro are thrown backwards. A piece of the set smacks onto the camera lens.
...I'll get there one day…
A hand takes the piece of cardboard off. It's Lightning. He starts flexing his muscles for it. He's in the first class section of the McPlane. Jo appears and rams her elbow into his back, and she flexes in his place. Lightning runs back on screen and headbutts Jo in her back. Jo's hand smacks the camera. It spins again.
...Cause I wanna be...famous…
The camera lands on Jasmine, banging her fist on the door to the lavatory. She desperately needs to go. The camera zooms to the door. In the World Tour confessional, Mike and Zoey are both making out, unaware of the loud knocks and bumps coming from the door. The camera goes static.
Na na na na na na na...
The plane is flying over several destinations. The first is a large body of water. Next is the abandoned movie set, then Kihci Island, then Scotland (Forest) and finally Italy (Canals). It starts heading towards the camera, but right before it hits, the screen goes static again.
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous
The camera zooms out from the static to reveal an editing studio. Macarthur and Sanders are watching the screen. Macarthur turns to her partner. She is wearing a director's cap and shades. She holds a hand under the screen, silently asking for Sanders' opinion. Sanders looks at her burly partner and just shrugs.
I wanna be, I wanna be, I wanna be famous
Macarthur, in a fit of rage and confusion, takes her hat off, throws it in Sanders' face and storms off. Sanders is surprised. The camera zooms back into the static screen. It fades away, revealing a night sky. The camera pans down to a campfire. When it reaches the end, Duncan and Gwen are in front of a moonlight backdrop. Both are awkwardly trying to look away from each other, but still end up sharing glances.
Whistling competitors
Courtney walks in and sits right between the ex-con and the goth. She stares daggers at Duncan. Both he and Gwen look at the camera, still awkwardly, as it zooms out. It reveals the other 19 competitors, as well as Chef and Chris, all sitting around a burning campfire whistling the final notes to the theme song. Fade to black.
The episode opened right where it left off. With Sammy and Jo, face to face, staring defiantly at each other. Chris suddenly appeared by their sides and shoved them back.
"Great work, guys." He said. "We'll definitely work that into the promos." He rubbed his hands together and looked between the two finalists "Now, let's get to the nitty gritty. First off, I won't tell you what the challenge is just yet. You'll find that out tomorrow."
"Keeping us in the dark, so we stay on our toes?" Jo grinned. "Gotta hand it to ya, McLean. I like that."
"Thank you, Jo. I can tell you that the challenge will not be on Kihci Island, the film lot, or any faraway destinations."
"So it's a place we've never been to?" Sammy asked
"You could say that." Chris chuckled. "You'll just have to wait and see. What I will tell you is this: both of you will be allowed two helpers in the challenge. And unlike the last two finales, and the fact that I'm a benevolent host, I'll allow you to choose who they are." He turned to Jo. "Since you won the last challenge, you'll pick first. Anyone who competed this season is up for grabs."
Jo pondered for a moment.
Confessional (Jo, chopper): "So here's the thing. I don't think a lot of people would want to team with me. Heck, I don't even like most of them." She cupped her chin. "I could pick Blondie's sister. She's probably still mad at her for getting her eliminated. But I don't know if I could trust her." She paused, then broke out into a grin. "I got it."
Static.
"I pick...the Cadets!" She announced.
Chris and Sammy blinked. "You pick Macarthur and...Sanders?" Chris asked. Jo nodded. "I...why? Doesn't Sanders hate you because of all the times you made fun of her and Duncan?"
The Jockette scoffed. "Oh, please. We shook hands right before she left, we're cool. Besides, everyone else on my team pretty much hates me already and I want two people that work well together."
Chris could do nothing but shrug.
The Host turned to the other finalist. "Now it's your turn. Who-"
"Jasmine!" Sammy blurted out. "I pick Jasmine."
Chris nearly jumped at the sudden reply. "Should've seen that coming. Who's your second pick?"
Sammy opened her mouth, but she hesitated to say anything.
Confessional (Sammy, chopper): "I knew if I had the chance, Jasmine would be my first choice. But now that I have a second option, I'm not sure who to pick." She thought for a moment. "I guess I still want to give Dawn a proper goodbye. Same with Gwen." She considered her options once more. "Duncan could also be a lot of help, considering he's won a season. But Jo has Mikayla, so that might not be a good idea." Then she cringed at her next option. "What if I picked Amy? Should I give her the chance to prove she wants to be my sister again? Or is it...too soon?" She paused. Everything around her was awkwardly quiet. Finally, she took a deep breath and exhaled. "I've made up my mind…"
Static.
"I pick...Leshawna. I owe her one after getting her eliminated."
"I didn't ask for your reasoning." Chris said dryly. "But good choices." He turned and walked away. "Your luggage is on the chopper. I'll see you in the morning."
"Wait!" Jo called out. "Where are we supposed to sleep? You blew up the beach house!"
"Sleep on the heli or in the woods. Those are your choices." He continued walking, before suddenly stopping. He spun on his heel to face the competitors. "One more thing." He pointed to a nearby outhouse (that no one had noticed). "I want both of you to each do a confessional about tomorrow's challenge. Talk about how you got here, why you think you should win, what you'll do with the money or just trash talk your opponent. Whatever works." He turned one more time. "Ciao."
Sammy watched him leave, before hearing a door open and shut. She turned and saw that Jo wasn't there anymore. The Twin looked at the outhouse. Then she glanced at the ground, wondering what she would say.
Confessional (Jo): The Jockette took her seat and stared at the floor, with a serious expression. She stayed quiet for a few seconds. "Everyone likes to make assumptions about me. I've been called psychotic, over obsessive, a try hard and many, many other things. That's fine. I can live with that." She paused and balled her fist. "But...you do not get to call me selfish. Do you wanna know why I want to win? It's not so I can brag about it, or spend it on stupid stuff." She reached into her sweatshirt pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper. She stared at it, before turning it over and showing it to the camera. "It's because of this…" The paper was a photo of Ambie, Jo's girlfriend. She was smiling warmly, with her head slightly tilted. "I wanna win to keep this girl happy. If her channel gets deleted or she loses her sponsors, I want to be there for her..." She pulled the photo back. "...so she doesn't have to worry about anything ever again." Her eyes were starting to water, so she wiped them with her sleeve. "That's...why I want to win. I want to be a provider to someone who's given me something I never knew I wanted. I don't care what that blonde doofus has been through. She will not stop me."
Static
Sammy sat on a nearby stump, still thinking of what to say. She heard a door slam and looked up. Jo stepped out, staring at the ground with her hands in her sweatshirt pockets. She glanced up and the two finalists locked eyes. It was a long couple of seconds before Jo scoffed, turned and walked towards the chopper.
Sammy watched her leave, before turning her attention towards the outhouse. Taking a deep breath, she headed into it and shut the door.
Confessional (Sammy): Like Jo, Sammy sat down and didn't say anything for a while. "I...don't know what to say. I honestly didn't think I would make it this far." She paused, putting on a more focused look. "But...I should probably stop thinking like that, otherwise I'm gonna lose before the final challenge even starts. Jo's not going to make things easy for me." She stopped again, balling her fists. "But you know what? Jo hasn't lived my life. If I've made it this far, I'm probably made of a lot stronger stuff than she is. So maybe it's me who should be worried for her. Because I'm not letting Jo walk over me. I've worked too hard to just lose it all. If she underestimates me...she's gonna regret it." She took a few breaths, but still held onto her uncharacteristically determined expression.
Static
Next morning, the helicopter was seen flying above the water. A quick flash and Sammy was shown sitting on one of the benches, in her swimsuit. It was a red and white tankini. She didn't seem comfortable wearing it.
Confessional (Sammy): "I probably should've bought a new swimsuit back in Thailand. Wearing red and white again reminds me of my cheerleading outfit. And wearing that reminds me of…" She trailed off, her throat suddenly becoming dry. She quickly shook her head. "I can't think about her right now. I'm in the finale. I've got to focus."
Static
Just across from the twin, Jo was practicing her squats with an insanely focused look. She was in her dark gray one piece.
"Are you sure that's safe?" Sammy asked. "Doing squats on a plane just doesn't seem like a good idea."
The Jockette just scoffed. "That's what makes you and me so different, Blondie. I'm ready for anything, while you just-" At that moment, the plane jolted slightly. Sammy was safe in her seat, but the Jockette was thrown off balance and toppled to the side. Her face slammed into the metal floor.
Sammy winced. "Are you-"
"Shut it!" Jo groaned, rubbing her cheek.
"Yes, what a fine performance, Jo." Chris walked in, carrying a laptop. "It's no wonder you made it this far." The Jockette grumbled, but picked herself up and sat down at the bench. Chris continued and turned his attention to the finalists. "Now then, allow me to inform you all what the challenge is and where it will take place. As you can probably tell, it will be a water based challenge." He put the laptop on a nearby box, opened it and pressed a button. "Here's how it's gonna go down." The screen showed a stick figure, jumping off a platform and into the water. Nine silver circles were then shown. "Both teams will have their own platforms. They'll jump off and into the water. After that, the goal is to find nine silver rings that are each attached to ropes at the bottom of the ocean. You may only take one at a time. Your opponent is allowed to steal, but not once they've brought them back to their platform." The screen cut to a stick figure standing next to several silver rings. It went underwater and revealed a golden circle attached to a rope. "As soon as nine rings are on your platform, a gold ring will be released. Grab it, bring it to the surface and the five million dollars is yours."
"We don't even have to bring it to our platform?" Sammy asked.
Chris shook his head. "But don't be fooled, it won't be easy to get your hands on it." He turned and walked away. "I'll explain the roles of the helpers once we land. In the meantime, strap in. We'll be arriving soon."
Sammy watched him leave. Now with her attention back on the finale, she couldn't help but feel nervous. She looked at Jo, who was staring forward, her earlier look of focus having returned. The Twin decided that it wasn't time to get nervous, so took a deep breath and did the same thing as the Jockette.
The chopper flew down and stopped just above the water. Chris opened one of the doors and the two finalists looked out. They could see two large wooden platforms, on the opposite sides of each other. They looked to have people already standing on them. To the side of them stood a large helipad.
Chris walked up behind both finalists. "Welcome to our destination. Our finale destination. It might not look like much but, under the water, lies the sunken island of Wawanakwa." He paused, allowing the two finalists to gasp. "Once we touch down, I'll explain the rest of the challenge and we'll begin things shortly after that."
"Good," Jo grunted. "I can't wait to crush this." She looked down at the helipad. "Why hasn't Chef landed yet?"
Sammy was about to answer, but came to a sudden realization. Jo had the same feeling and both shared knowing glances. Chris suddenly jumped forward and shoved both competitors out of the chopper. "Good luck." He gleefully called.
"You're so dead, Mclean…." Jo shook her fist at the Host, as she plummeted towards the water.
Both landed with a loud splash, but resurfaced a few seconds later. Sammy coughed and glared at the helicopter that was in the process of landing. However, her mood soon changed, when she saw the people on one of the platforms. Something must've awakened inside of her because she took off like a rocket towards the wooden structure. She reached it and was in the process of climbing on, before a hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her out.
"Sammy!" Jasmine squealed, giving her friend a tight hug. "I'm so proud of you! You made it to the finale!"
The Twin, despite her feet dangling off the ground and her lungs feeling like they would pop, couldn't help but smile. "Thanks, Jasmine. It's great to see you too."
The Aussie put Sammy down and the two shared a smile. It was soon interrupted when Sammy felt another pair of arms wrap around her stomach and pull her back.
"Girl, you have no idea how happy I am for you." Leshawna said.
"I think I have a good idea." Sammy wheezed.
Confessional (Sammy): "So, like, it's great to see Jasmine and Leshawna again, but…" She clutched her midsection. "My poor ribs..."
Static
After Leshawna put her down, Sammy turned to face her two allies. "Thanks for being here...well, I mean I chose you to be here and I...I guess you didn't have much of a choice and if you don't want to help, I-"
Jasmine put her hand on her friend's shoulder. "Sammy. Even if you didn't get to choose, we wouldn't hesitate to help you win."
Leshawna nodded. "It's not the way I imagined making the finale, but it means taking down that loud-mouthed, all talk, no action, trashy haired, overly moody ego-maniac…" She chuckled. "...then I'm in."
Sammy couldn't help but give a wide smile, then a thought struck her. "Oh yeah, by the way, if I win, I don't mind sharing some of my money with you guys. Five million is a lot and I'm not really sure what I'd do with it."
Jasmine and Lesahwna's mouths fell agape. But the Sistah eventually broke out into a smile. "Sammy, you just made a friend for life." She chuckled and the two high-fived.
The Aussie wasn't as sure. "Sammy, you don't have to-"
But, the Twin cut her off. "Jasmine, I'm learning to be more assertive. So please just accept it, or I'll give it to someone else."
Jasmine stared, absolutely stunned. But after seeing Sammy's determined smile, she had no choice but to accept. She grinned confidently. "Sammy...let's do this." The two shared in a second, and much lighter, hug.
Confessional (Jasmine): "I can't believe how much money I can make by not winning. First Shawn, and now Sammy's offering to split the reward. I guess it helps to know someone who makes it to the end."
Static
Jo pulled herself out of the water and onto her platform. When she stood up, she was met with her two helpers. She smirked. "I got myself an unstoppable team."
Sanders just looked at her, looking slightly confused. Macarthur, on the other hand, was ecstatic. "Yeah you do. You made the right choice picking us." She walked up and put her arm around the Jockette's shoulder. "I'll admit, it's not my forte to be playing the villain, but I'll do my best."
Jo's smile fell. "Playing the vill-?" She was about to ask further, but Sanders stepped in.
"I actually have a question, Jo. Why did you pick myself and Macarthur? More specifically, why me?"
"Well, I mean...if I was going to pick one of you, it wouldn't make sense to pick some rando. Besides, we're cool, aren't we?"
Sanders raised an eyebrow. She turned to look at her partner, who just shrugged. She faced the Jockette. "Jo, I don't know where you got that idea, but...I wouldn't exactly call us cool."
Jo just scoffed. "Oh, come on. I called you by your real name before you left. That's gotta mean something."
"Yes. You called me by my first name. That was the absolute bare minimum. It doesn't really excuse all the times you made fun of me and my boyfriend."
Macarthur quickly interjected. "I'm cool with you, by the way." She said to Jo. "But Danders is still my OTP."
Now Jo was starting to realize that she may have made a mistake. "So...are you not gonna help me win?!" She sounded panicked.
Sanders pondered. "How 'bout this? I'll help you...if you do one of two things for me. You can either split the money with me and Macarthur…"
"Absolutely not." The Jockette cut off.
"...or you can say one nice thing about me and Duncan being a couple."
The Jockette froze from hearing this. She cringed and glanced down at the ground. She didn't say anything for a few seconds.
Confessional (Sanders): "Was it really that hard of a decision?"
Static
The Cadets waited for an answer. Eventually, Jo sighed, but didn't look up at them. "You two...come from completely different worlds. You're a cop and he's been to jail." She stopped. To Sanders, it seemed like Jo was hurting herself by saying this. "...and that just shows how much two actually love each other. Considering I'm dating an internet celebrity, I get it. The love you have for each other is...genuine because you're able to not only tolerate, but actually enjoy, being around someone so different from yourself."
Sanders just stood in place, for a surprisingly long time. Her mouth was hanging open. However, her trance was broken by the sound of Macarthur crying. They both turned to her.
"That was...beautiful." She sobbed.
Sanders couldn't help chuckle. "Alright," she said to Jo. "You held your end of the bargain, now it's only fair that I do my part."
Jo let out a sigh of relief. Then her head suddenly shot in the direction of Sammy's platform. "You're going down." She said, under her breath, with a menacing expression.
"Told ya we'd be playing the villains." Macarthur whispered to her partner.
Once the competitors were done catching up, they turned their attention to Chris, who was on a large flatscreen monitor that was hanging from the chopper. "Now that we've all gotten acquainted, it's time to get things going. Jo and Sammy, I already explained the rules, so I'll make things simple. Find nine rings under the sea. Bring them all up and you can find the golden one. Bring it to the surface and you win." He paused for dramatic effect. "Your helpers have two roles: attackers and protectors. No matter what, the protectors are not allowed to go underwater and find rings for their team. They are, however, permitted to steal rings from the opposing team. They can carry no more than two each." Jo smirked and gave a suggestive look to the Cadets. Sanders rolled her eyes, while Macarthur nodded excitedly. "On your platforms..." Chris continued. "...is a diver's helmet and two air tanks. The tanks need to be filled with air, otherwise you risk serious injury."
"And I'm sure you love that idea, right?" Leshawna interjected.
Chris coughed awkwardly. "I am...legally required to not express any enjoyment in your potential deaths." An awkward silence followed. "Anyways, the helmets have walkie-talkies in them so you can talk with your teammates. Nothing left to say other than good luck and...don't die." He gave a blank look to the camera, before it suddenly cut to black.
The two competitors prepared for the challenge, with their respective teams. One was a little more worried than the other.
Sammy took a deep breath and tried to relax, but was finding it easier said than done. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I was so ready to take on Jo last night and now…" she sighed.
Jasmine quickly put her hand on her friend's shoulder. "Sammy, I know you're nervous, but you need to put those feelings aside if you want to win."
Leshawna nodded. "You could probably do this entire thing without our help. If you've lasted this long, you could take that five million dollars with your eyes shut."
The Twin looked at her two friends and gave a focused smile. "Alright. Let's kick butt."
Meanwhile, on the opposite platform, Jo was receiving a similar (but somehow less effective) peptalk.
"So whatever you do, don't let nerves get to you," Macarthur said, her arm hung across Jo's shoulders. "Sammy's an underdog, which means she's gonna have to fight harder. You better keep an eye on her, otherwise your chances of winning are gonna go down the toilet."
"Shut up!" Jo pushed the Cadet's arm off. Sanders chuckled quietly. "Blondie isn't going to get the best of me. My chances of winning are already at an all time high and I'm not about to let anyone take that away from me." She turned around and glared at Sammy's platform. But despite her defiance and confident declaration, the Jockette couldn't stop herself from letting out a beat of sweat.
Her concentration was broken by the sound of Chris' intercom. "Get ready, competitors. Your final challenge is about to begin. Take this time to put your helmets on, because in exactly ten seconds, your underwater challenge will start. 10...9...8…"
Jo quickly put on her helmet and ran to the edge of the platform.
"7...6...5…4…"
Sammy took one more breath and put her helmet on.
"Good luck." came a voice.
The Twin turned around and smiled, when she saw Leshawna and Jasmine, who were now wearing the headsets, both giving a thumbs up. She soon forgot to be nervous and faced the water.
"3...2...1...GO!"
Both finalists jumped in and went under.
"You see any rings, hun?" Leshawna said into her headset.
"No. Not yet." Sammy responded. "I think I'll find them closer to the bottom." She started swimming towards the seabed, taking in her surroundings as she did. "Y'know, even if I don't win, I might want to try this again. I've never gone scuba diving before. It's kinda cool."
"Just so long as you don't go into any caves." Jasmine's voice cut in. "Especially if the space between the walls is too thin. If your mic dies, you won't be able to contact anyone. Your air supply would probably run out before anyone came to your rescue. And let's not even mention the creatures that might try to eat you. So just keep all that in mind."
Sammy's confidence, for some "unexplained reason," took a massive dive. Leshawna gave the Aussie an unsettling, annoyed look. Jasmine still had no clue what she had just done.
The Sistah sighed. "Ignore that. You'll do fine. Just focus on finding the rings and beating Jo."
Sammy shook away her nervousness and did just as her friend had said.
Within the first few minutes of the challenge, both Jo and Sammy were able to find silver rings. They were attached to a rope that was connected to a rock. The Jockette was the first to reach her ring. She pulled on a knot and it released the ring. She took it and swam to the surface. From a distance, Sammy was doing the same thing.
Once Jo reached her platform, she tossed it at the Cadet's feet. "Already on the board!" She bragged, looking at the flatscreen. Seconds later, the score on Sammy's side went from 0 to 1. Jo's smile fell. She could Sammy drop off her ring and head back underwater. She turned to her teammates. "Go get her ring."
"What?" Sanders asked, confused. "Why? The competition just started."
"I wanna prove that I'm the best competitor in this show. I can't risk that little termite one-upping me. The only satisfying win for me is a complete shut out."
"But-"
"Relax, partner." Macarthur interjected. "I've got this." Without another word, the Burly Cadet jumped into the water and started swimming towards the other platform.
Sanders watched on, dumbfounded. Jo smirked. "See? She knows what she's doing." Then she went back under to look for more rings.
Macarthur was still heading towards Sammy's platform, when she noticed something. Leshawna and Jasmine caught sight of her. The Aussie whispered something into Leshawna's ear. Macarthur grinned confidently.
Confessional (Macarthur): "I know how these competitors think. Whether they notice me or not, they won't be able to handle the raw chaos that I bring." She leaned back and put her hands behind her head. "Jo will get her clean sweep. Mark. My. Words."
Static
A few minutes later, Jo had resurfaced with a silver ring. She put it on the platform. "So that should make-" She turned to the screen, only for her confidence to completely shatter. "One?! I should have more than one. Where-" She stopped when she looked back at her platform.
Sanders was there, completely soaked. The Jockette was now confused. "What-"
"Jasmine threw me into the water and stole the ring." Sanders said plainly.
"The Australian?! How did she-"
"Ummm…" Came a sheepish voice. Jo turned to see Macarthur, still in the water and looking embarrassed. "That was my fault. Before I got to their side, she got around me and onto our platform."
"Where, again," Sanders interrupted. "I was tossed into the water like a sack of potatoes."
"Anyways," Macarthur continued. "I tried to get their ring, but Leshawna kept blocking me from getting on and...I couldn't do anything, so I had to come back."
The Jockette stared, her mouth agape. She quickly shook it off though. "Whatever, I don't have time for this. I'll get more rings, just make sure we don't lose anything else." With that, she went back underwater.
Sanders looked down at the one ring. "Pretty tough to do that right now…"
Later, Sammy was hoping to extend her lead even further. She currently had five rings, while Jo only had three.
Confessional (Sammy): "I know it's early, but I have a pretty good feeling about this. Jo hasn't been able to get ahead of me and Jasmine and Leshawna are great teammates." She smiled confidently. "So long as nothing goes wrong, I might just win this."
Static.
The camera cut back to show Sammy, screaming in terror and holding onto the back of a shark. Obviously she had spoken too soon.
The shark violently thrashed around, nearly throwing off the incredibly terrified twin. It swam low towards a small batch of rings. Its fin caught on the string that was holding each of them and released them. Sammy would've gotten them, but the shark carried her away. Jo, on the other hand, saw what had happened and smirked.
Now Sammy was getting annoyed. I'm not going out like this. With as much strength as she could muster, she reached out and grabbed the shark's top fin. She then pulled herself, looked down at the creature and slammed her fist onto its eye several times. The shark winced and was thrown off course. It started going down and was heading towards a cave. Sammy let go and watched the shark crash into the rocks. It was engulfed by sand and out of sight. With a sudden boost of adrenaline from what she just did, Sammy quickly swam away
"Hey, Sammy?" Jasmine asked over the headset. "You alright? We heard screaming earlier."
The Twin was still catching her breath. "I...just...punched a...shark."
From the surface, Leshawna and Jasmine blinked and gave each other similar looks of shock. "Did you...win?" Jasmine asked.
"No time for that," Leshawna interrupted. "Sammy. Jo just got three rings and now she has the lead." She stared at the other platform, watching the Jockette toss her last ring to her teammates and then head back under. She turned her attention back to her teammate."Do you see any rings near you?"
"No…and, after what just happened, I don't know if I have the energy to find more."
Leshawna frowned, then looked again at Jo's platform. She could see Sanders and Macarthur were talking to each other, neither focused on the challenge. This gave Leshawna an idea. "Don't worry yourself, hun. Take a breather for now. I'll get you more rings." With that, the Sistah took off her headset, handed it to Jasmine and jumped into the water.
"I still don't get it," Sanders said. "Why is that episode your favorite?"
"Because," The Burly Cadet explained. "They had to face their fears. They showed how tough they were, only seven episodes in."
"Tyler couldn't even face his fear of chickens…"
"Well, technically, he did. The challenge was for him to be trapped with the chicken. He never went over the fence. It's honestly just one of the many conspiracies surrounding the show…" Much to Sanders' annoyance, Macarthur had started rambling.
Neither of them noticed the bubbles coming from near the platform. Leshawna's head slowly rose out. She didn't bring it too high and carefully observed the two cadets. Once she was sure they weren't aware of her, she slowly pulled herself up.
"...they honestly don't appreciate a good underdog story. Cody, Tyler, DJ, Bridgette, Harold, you name it. All of them should've made it to the finale, but they didn't. And you know why? Because the show didn't like them."
"What about Beth or Cameron? You don't consider them underdogs?"
"Those are the exceptions. You see-" Macarthur was suddenly cut off, by having an elbow slammed into her back. She was shot forward and splashed into the water.
Sanders turned to see Leshawna, with a devilish grin. The Skinny Cadet soon realized what was going to happen. "Oh, come on. I just got TOSS-" Leshawna suddenly picked up Sanders by her pits and yeeted her into the water. The Sistah quickly grabbed two rings and ran.
At that moment, Jo had just returned to the surface. "What was with all the noise-" She suddenly felt something kick her in the back of the head. She then saw Leshawna jump over her, into the water and back towards her home platform. It didn't take long for the Jockette to realize what had happened.
She turned to see an empty platform. "Where the hell are you guys?" she said into the mic.
"Sorry about that." Sanders responded, once she resurfaced. "Leshawna snuck up on us." She sighed. "And for the second time today, I was treated like a lawn dart. I guess I really am too skinny."
"Told ya," Macarthur said, climbing onto the platform. "You gotta work on them glutes."
Jo ignored both of them. She watched Sammy's score climb up to seven. With the ring she just brought up, her score was now at five (counting the ring she already had in her hand). The Jockette gritted her teeth, tossed the ring onto her platform and quickly went back down.
"You think she's mad at us?" Macarthur whispered.
"I'm pretty sure she can still hear you through the headset." Sanders noted. "But, probably."
Sammy had eventually calmed down from what had happened and continued looking for more rings. She eventually found one. However, it was wedged between two rocks. She tried pulling it out, but it wouldn't budge.
Eventually, the Twin gave up. Maybe Jo will find it and that'll give me time to look for others. She was about to head out, when she saw a figure moving towards her. Sammy squinted, but quickly realized what it was. "Oh crap." She ducked under the rock. Not even a second later, the same shark from earlier swam by, nearly catching the Twin in its teeth.
Sammy still had nerves from the last run-in, so wasn't looking forward to this one. She could see the shark turning back for another attack. The Twin was still petrified, but remembered where she was and how far along she had gotten. I punched this shark once before. I...I can take it again. She took a deep breath and readied herself. The hungry shark was barreling towards her. Sammy didn't budge, At the last possible second, Sammy jumped up, her foot narrowly avoiding the shark's teeth. The large fish, on the other hand, wasn't as lucky. Instead of a nice, meaty meal, it gnashed its teeth onto the flavorless rock, smashing some of its teeth and knocking it unconscious. Sammy winced, but quickly forgot to feel guilty. Not only had the shark been stopped, but the impact had separated the rock from the ring. The Twin went over to pick it up. However, without noticing, the sudden movement had released another object. It started floating upwards almost immediately.
From the top, Jo had just made it to her platform. Needless to say, she was not doing so well. "I need to find more rings!" She yelled, taking off her helmet. "This stupid thing needs to be charged, so get me the other one!" Without saying anything, Sanders took the old helmet and handed Jo the new one. Once she had it on, Jo faced her teammates. "If I have a shot at winning, I need both of you to steal their rings."
Sanders and Macarthur shared an uncertain look. "I don't think that's a good idea." Sanders said. "The rings we already have-"
"I don't care." Jo interrupted. "I'm already down by too many points. If you don't do anything, we'll still lose. So get your butts moving and go get those rings!" With that, the Jockette went back under.
Sanders let out a groan. She turned to Macarthur. "I'll stay here, if you wanna go get more rings." Thankfully, she was smart enough to turn her headset off, so Jo wouldn't hear. "She's not gonna be happy unless, at least, one of us tries. And, even then, she's probably not gonna be happy, just...slightly less angry."
Macarthur was about to answer, when something caught her eye. She stepped forward and looked at the other team's platform. Then she gasped.
Sanders was concerned. "What's wrong?"
The Burly Cadet turned to face her partner, giving an incredibly serious face. "No." She said coldly. "You and I are going together."
Before Sanders could reply, Macarthur grabbed her by the shirt and jumped into the water, pulling both of them in.
Sammy soon arrived with her ring. Leshawna quickly took it from her.
"That makes eight," She announced. "Just one more and we'll be able to get the final ring."
Sammy smiled and gave a thumbs up, before going back under the water.
Leshawna then looked at the other platform and noticed something. "Where did those Cadets go?"
Jasmine wasn't paying attention though. She had her attention on something in the water. "What is that?"
Leshawna turned her head to where Jasmine was referring to and raised an eyebrow. A small brown object was floating near their platform. The Sistah thought it was something else, at first, but quickly realized what it was.
She picked it up and examined it. "Where did this come from?" She paused. "And why does it look so familiar?"
Jasmine looked curiously at it too. "Isn't that-"
"Give it back."
Leshawna and Jasmine's head shot to the side. Macarthur and Sanders were now on their platform. They were soaking wet, but the Burly Cadet had an extremely focused look. Sanders was preparing for the worst.
"I said," Macarthur repeated. "Give. It. Back."
Leshawna looked down at the rings. "You think we're just gonna give you the rings back. This is a competition, girl. It ain't that easy."
"She wasn't talking about the rings…" Sanders said ominously.
"What?"
Macarthur suddenly let out a deep battle cry and charged forwards. Leshawna and Jasmine didn't have time to react.
Back under the water, Sammy was still searching for her last silver ring. Suddenly, loud noises rang out from her headset. She winced. "Ow. Guys, whatever's going on, can you please-" She stopped, realizing something. The noises sounded like someone was struggling. Sammy could also hear someone shouting. "Are you guys okay?" No response. Sammy looked up towards the surface.
Confessional (Sammy): "I probably should've gone up to help them, but…" She gave a sheepish look. "...if Leshawna was struggling against whatever it was, what help could I have been?"
Static
Still feeling guilty, Sammy turned back around and continued searching for more rings.
Jo returned to the surface with another ring, taking her score to six. She was surprised that Macarthur and Sanders weren't there. She tossed the ring into the pile and frowned.
"Seriously, again!?" She said into the microphone. "Who's protecting the-"
At that moment, Sanders and Macarthur jumped onto the platform. Both looked tired, wet and slightly bruised. But something else caught Jo's eye. "You got more rings?"
Macarthur and Sanders each tossed a ring into the pile, putting Jo at eight. The Jockette was ecstatic, but also confused. "Wait a minute," She said to the Cadets. "You each could've taken two rings. Why didn't you get one more? We could've been at nine points."
Sanders sighed. "Honestly, Jo, you're lucky I was able to get one after the chaos I witnessed."
Jo raised an eyebrow. "What are you talking about?" She turned to Macarthur. "And why didn't you get more rings?"
The Burly Cadet had the biggest grin plastered on her face. She held out her other hand and presented it to Jo.
The Jockette gave a confused look. "Is that a coconut?"
"Not just a coconut, the coconut. Mr. Coconut." She turned the fruit around, revealing three holes and a red curved line under it. It also had a patch of green on its top, making it seem like it had hair. Macarthur smiled gleefully as she held the Coconut.
Jo was still processing what exactly was going on, but when she saw what her score was, compared to Sammy's, she immediately perked up. "I only need to find one more ring and I can grab the golden one." She said excitedly. Then she looked at the air percentage in her helmet. "Only 20%? Already? Better change it now." She took off her air tank and put it in the charging port. She then grabbed the second tank and put it on. "Watch the rings for me." She said to the Cadets. With that, she jumped back into the water and went looking for another ring.
Sanders turned to her partner. "Are you really keeping that Coconut?"
"This is, like, the ultimate piece of memorabilia." Macarthur defended, holding up her prize. Next to a jar of Owen's farts, this is probably the best thing I could've gotten."
"Ok, gross." Sanders gagged, walking away.
Macarthur was still giddy over finding Mr. Coconut and couldn't help dancing. She stepped around the platform, like she was in a waltz with the fruit. However, in her excitement, she knocked her foot into the air charging port that had Jo's second tank. She hit it just enough to knock it loose.
Sammy soon reemerged, with another ring. She excitedly got onto her platform and went to put it away. "Alright, that should take us up to eight. We just need one more and then…" Her smile fell when she saw what was waiting for her. Leshawna and Jasmine were laying on the platform, in a heap, groaning in pain. "OMG. What happened?" The Twin tossed her ring aside and helped her two friends up.
"The Cadets happened." Leshawna grunted, holding her head. "All because of a stupid coconut."
"And now we lost the lead." Jasmine added. "Sorry, Sam."
Sammy glanced over at the opposing team's platform. Macarthur and Sanders were still there, but Jo wasn't. She's probably looking for her last silver ring. The Twin thought. She looked back at Jasmine. "Don't worry about it. You did your best. But I'm gonna get our points back." Without another word, Sammy jumped back into the water, leaving behind a worried Jasmine and Leshawna.
The Twin checked around for any sign of a ring. Jo only needs one more ring. If I don't find one now, my chances of winning will be cut in half. After about a minute of searching, she saw one. Swimming towards it, she reached out and grabbed it. As soon as she did, another hand latched on and pulled it upwards. Sammy was caught off guard and her grip loosened. She followed the figure up to the surface. Once she reemerged, she was met with an unpleasant sight.
Jo mockingly waved the silver ring in front of her. "Nice try, Blondie. But I'm about to put your 'Cinderella' story to bed." She turned around and headed towards her platform. "Do yourself a favor and quit trying. Better you accept your defeat now rather than later." She cackled.
Sammy scowled as she watched the Jockette swim away. Maybe it was adrenaline, or maybe it was frustration, but something snapped inside the Twin.
Confessional (Sammy): She looked pissed. "I have been through too much to be laughed at like that. Jo is not dealing with a pushover...she's dealing with someone who wants to win."
Static.
Sammy suddenly let out a loud battle cry and swam towards Jo. The Jockette heard it, and looked back. "What the-" She suddenly felt something jump onto her back.
"Give me back that ring!" The Twin cried, grabbing the ring aggressively. The Jockette held on, but was still surprised by Sammy's sudden attack. Leshawna, Jasmine and even the Cadets were all watching what was going on.
Confessional (Sanders): "Who knew Sammy had some unbridled rage inside her?"
Confessional (Macarthur): "Did not think Jo would be the one to make Sammy snap, but she was definitely up there."
Confessional (Jasmine): The Aussie looked proudly at the camera. "Yeah, baby! That's my girl!"
Confessional (Leshawna): The Sistah wiped a tear from her eye. "That...was beautiful."
Static
Sammy finally pulled the ring out of Jo's hand. She kicked herself off the Jockette's back and quickly swam back to her platform. Jo was too surprised to chase after her. Once she regained her composure, she shot a death glare at Sammy.
Confessional (Jo): "That little twerp…" She said through gritted teeth. "Even if she wins that five million, she's gonna spend it all on hospital bills, courtesy of yours truly."
Static
Now it was a race for both finalists to each find their last ring. A series of quick shots showing Jo and Sammy looking under rocks, through caves and behind seaweed. Eventually, Jo found hers, just outside another cave. She quickly grabbed it and swam to the top. She didn't see Sammy finding one of her own.
"Got it!" The Jockette shouted, once she broke the surface. "Now we just need to get the gold ring." She swam to her platform and handed the ring to Sanders. She was about to go back under when she realized something. "What the- My air tank is almost empty." Sure enough, her air percentage only read 13%.
"How is that possible? Didn't you just put that one on?" Sanders asked.
Jo went wide eyed, and gnashed her teeth. "It was that stupid Blondie. When she attacked me, she must've messed this thing up." The Jockette took her helmet off and placed it onto the platform. "Get me the other one."
Sanders obliged and ran over to the charging port. She picked it up, then froze.
Jo noticed this. "What are you doing? You're gonna make me lose!" She turned around and noticed Sammy had just come up with her last ring. Now the Jockette was panicking. "Give me the helmet! I don't have time for this!"
Sanders snapped from her trance, just to notice Macarthur grab the helmet instead. She turned around, just in time to see Jo put it on and head under. The Burly Cadet looked at her partner. "What was that all about?" She asked. "Were you really trying to sabotage her?"
Sanders shook her head. "No. I…" She glanced over at the charging port, then back to Macarthur. "When I went to pick up the helmet, it wasn't plugged in. Did you unplug it at some point?"
Macarthur shrugged. "Don't think I did. All I remember is getting the rings…" She reached behind her back and pulled out Mr. Coconut. "...and rescuing this little guy." She loudly kissed the fruit, earning a weird look from Sanders. However, her gaze fell on the water where Jo had gone under.
Confessional (Sanders): "Jo's probably gonna be really mad at us, when she comes up again." She paused and cringed slightly. "If she comes back up."
Static
From the surface, Chris looked at each finalist's platform, pulled out a device and pressed the red button on it. He then put on a headset and spoke into it. "Attention, finalists. Both of you now have nine silver rings. That means the golden ring is now in play. I just released it. Now it's your job to find it and bring it to the surface. Once that happens, you win. Good luck."
Jo and Sammy realized the situation they were in and picked up the pace.
Both searched frantically for any sign of a ring. From the surface, the four helpers waitied in anticipation.
Eventually, Jo was the first to find the golden ring. It was attached to a rope, like the others, but it was clearly made of a different material. The Jockette grinned. "Open the champagne, Mama's bringing home the cash."
"Did you seriously call yourself mama?" Sanders asked
Jo turned off her microphone and went for the ring. She grabbed it and started to swim up. However, she felt a snag. The rope was made of a tougher material than the previous ones. Jo grunted and pulled again. Still nothing.
She looked at the base of the rope, in hopes to make it easier to just take up. However the rope was bolted to a massive rock formation, so there was no way to move it. The Jockette cursed under her breath, but decided to keep trying.
From a short distance, Sammy was watching. She was thankful Jo was having trouble getting the ring, but now had no way to get it herself, unless the Jockette left. She didn't notice a figure approaching her from behind. At the last moment, she did and moved out of the way . The same shark she had knocked out earlier was back and looking for round two. Sammy saw it turn and attack again, which she barely managed to avoid. Sammy knew she couldn't let the shark take her attention away from the ring. Then, she got an idea.
Jo was still trying to pull the ring off the rope, with no success. Then she heard a loud beeping sound. The panel on her helmet was blinking red. She was confused, until she noticed something.
"What the-" She spluttered. "Two percent?! I just got this thing charged. How-" But she didn't have time to think about it. If I can't break this rope, neither can that Bluebell. I can't risk drowning on national TV. With that, she swam towards the surface.
Meanwhile, Sammy was about to put her plan into action. She angled herself in front of the rope and waited for the shark. It, once again, swam towards her, mouth wide open. Right before it could chomp, the Twin turned and grabbed the shark's dorsal fin. She quickly pulled herself onto the creature's back. Before the shark could turn, Sammy gave it another swift punch in the nose. It was stunned and heading towards the rope. It crashed into it and the rock.
Jo heard this and turned. As the sand settled, the ring could be seen on its side, with only a piece of the rope attached. The Jockette's eyes widened.
Sammy wasted little time and grabbed it. "I've got it!" She then started swimming towards the surface.
"I don't think so!"
Jo suddenly appeared and grabbed the ring. "I'm not letting you win this!" She tried pulling the ring out of the Twin's hand, but she had a firm grip.
"And I'm not letting you take this from me." Sammy said defiantly. She kicked Jo in the stomach for good measure. The Jockette grunted and briefly loosened her grip. Sammy continued her journey upward. Jo gnashed her teeth, ignoring her dwindling air supply. She swam back up towards Sammy and grabbed onto the ring. She, again, tried pulling it away, but Sammy just pulled right back. Neither were letting go, but only one of them could hold it in the end.
At the top, the four helpers were waiting with anticipation. Jasmine and Leshawna were nervously trying to catch any sign of Sammy. Macarthur was clenching her fists so hard they were turning white, and even Sanders was watching intently (though that could've been from the thought of Jo running out of oxygen).
Jo and Sammy were still desperately trying to hold onto the ring. One second, Jo had it, the next, Sammy had taken it right back. However, Jo suddenly found herself being short of breath. But that just made her more frantic to win. Both looked up. They could see the surface.
Chris and Chef watched from their platform, the former holding a briefcase. "And the winner of Total Drama Legends is…"
A single hand suddenly shot out of the water, with the gold ring in hand.

"...Sammy!"
The Twin was holding the ring, straight up in the air. She was breathing heavily and staring blankly at the golden object. She might've kept staring at it, had she not been interrupted by the sounds of loud cheering.
Leshawna and Jasmine were dancing and pumping their fists excitedly.
"Yes! Way to go, Sammy!" Jasmine shouted
"Never doubted you for a second!" Leshawna added.
Sammy put her arm down, looked at her two friends and chuckled. Then she glanced at the ring. Her eyes suddenly went wide, as she finally processed what just happened. "I...won?" She said quietly. Then she broke out into a huge grin and thrust the ring in the air. "I won! I did it. I actually did it! I can't believe I-"
She was interrupted by a splashing sound. The Twin turned to see Jo, who just resurfaced. The Jockette hastily took the helmet off and let out a violent barrage of coughs. Sammy stared, forgetting she had just won. Eventually, Jo quieted down. Despite the fact that the Jockette's back was turned, Sammy could tell she wasn't taking the loss well.
Confessional (Sammy): "I'm still super happy that I won, but...I still feel kinda bad for Jo. She worked hard to get here and...it must really hurt her to be that close to winning and...come up short." She mulled over her words. "I'd offer to give her a portion, but I'm pretty sure she'd just be insulted by that." She sighed. "I guess anything's better than nothing."
Static
"Hey, Jo?" Sammy said. The Jockette did not respond. "I just wanted to say...thank you." This seemed to catch Jo's attention. She turned her head slightly, but didn't look directly at the Twin, who continued. "I know coming in second isn't what you wanted, but...if it makes you feel any better, I consider it a great achievement to have beaten you." She suddenly realized what she just said. "A-and I mean that in a good way. Like, you were so tough, I mean. Which made you hard to beat." She paused. Jo still hadn't said anything. "And...I'm sure that no matter what, Ambie will be proud of you."
Jo didn't respond immediately. She still seemed to be lost in thought. Sammy nervously waited for what she would say. Eventually, the Jockette sighed and glanced back at the winning Twin. "You only won because my helmet was low on air." She snarled. However, her expression soon softened. "But...congrats and...thank you." She gave a nod and swam towards her platform.
Sammy sighed in relief. She took one last look at her ring and smiled. She had done it.
Sammy soon arrived back at her platform. She had a lot of emotions running through her head and she was still processing what just happened. She didn't know if she should scream for joy or break down crying.
"Congratulations, Sammy." Jasmine beamed, giving her friend a pat on the back.
"Yeah, you definitely earned it." Leshawna added, lightly hugging the Twin.
Sammy couldn't stop herself from smiling. "Thanks, guys. I couldn't have done it without either of you. And I promise, I'll give you a portion of my winnings...And no arguing about it. I already made up my mind."
"Well, if we can't do anything about it…" Jasmine said, pretending to act defeated.
The three friends laughed, before Chris walked up to them, holding a briefcase. "Sammy," He started. "Congratulations on winning Total Drama Legends. But even more importantly, congrats on winning…" He held up and opened the briefcase, revealing several stacks of cash inside. "...Five. Million. Dollars."
The Twin was in absolute shock and didn't know how to respond. She felt something nudge her on the shoulder. "You don't need to hold anything back anymore, hun. Nobody would blame you if you started crying." Leshawna whispered.
Sammy thought about that. Then she took a deep breath and smiled. "I'm good. Thanks."
Confessional (Sammy): Sammy is now bawling while clutching her briefcase. "I'm...so ha-appy…" She hugged the case tightly. "I won...I actually won. I...I get to buy so much stuff. I mean, first I have to give some of the money to Leshawna and Jasmine. And probably Dawn...and Gwen...and my Mom...I should probably call her when I get home. Who else? Maybe I should give it to Mikayla. Or would she not take it because Duncan didn't want it? Maybe-"
Static.
The Twin smiled proudly, as she took the briefcase. Chris turned and walked away.
"Thanks for telling us about the sharks, by the way." Leshawna said sarcastically.
The Host just laughed. "Not my fault. If you guys didn't think sharks would be involved in a water based challenge, then you clearly haven't been paying attention." He stepped onto the chopper, leaving behind the three annoyed competitors.
They soon forgot to be mad and continued celebrating Sammy's win.
Jo soon made it back to her platform. She was about to pull herself up, but stopped. She turned her head to watch Sammy, and her two friends, celebrate. She saw a pair of feet in front of her. She looked up to see Sanders, extending a hand, wearing a sad smile.
"Could've gone either way." She shrugged.
Jo grunted, but reluctantly took the Cadet's hand. "Maybe I would've won, had you actually helped." She then glared at the second air helmet. "Or had someone not tried to sabotage me."
"Jo, neither of us sabotaged you. And, even if that were the case, you have no one to blame but yourself. You picked us. We didn't choose to be on your team." Jo was about to retort, but Sanders cut her off. "And if it makes you feel any better, you outlasted twenty other competitors, ten of whom were past finalists. That includes me and Macarthur. You gotta be a little happy about that, right?"
Jo frowned, but didn't say anything. Eventually, though, she sighed. "I...guess you're right. And...I probably shouldn't mope about making it this far." She managed a small smirk. "Besides, I've still got an awesome girlfriend to go home to. Not that you'll ever know that feeling." She cackled.
Instead of being annoyed, Sanders rolled her eyes and chuckled. "Fine. I'll let you have that one." She turned her head. "Ok, this might cheer you up, someone else is upset that you didn't win."
Jo stopped laughing and looked where Sanders was staring. Macarthur slunked towards the two, solemnly staring at the ground.
"Geez, I get it's a travesty that I lost," Jo said, "But you don't need to cry about it."
"That's not why I'm crying." Macarthur sobbed. She looked back at the water. "I...I had to let Mr. Coconut go."
Jo and Sanders shared a confused glance, before turning back to the burly Cadet. "You...you what?" The Jockette asked
Macarthur suddenly dropped to her knees and started bawling. "He told me 'it's where he belongs!' I tried convincing him to stay, but he kept telling me he needed to go back home. So I put him back in the ocean...where he belongs." She wrapped her arms around her knees and continued sobbing.
Jo was still trying to understand what was going on. "But it's just a coconu-"
A hand rested on her shoulder. "Don't." Sanders shook her head. "I've learned a long time ago that the less you know about what Macarthur's doing, the better."
The Jockette had several questions, but figured Sanders was right, so said nothing at all.
After a while, everyone was back on the chopper. Jo was sitting by herself, looking at a photo, Leshawna was talking with Jasmine, and Sanders smiled as she walked towards one of her friends.
"Congratulations, Sammy." She hugged the Twin. "To be honest, I was rooting for you to win."
"Thanks, Mikayla." Sammy smiled, releasing the hug. "Hey, by the way, I'm already splitting some of my money with Leshawna and Jasmine. So, if you and Macarthur-"
Sanders put up her hand. "Thanks, but no thanks. We still have some money leftover from when we won the race. Also, Macarthur having that much money is a disaster waiting to happen."
The two couldn't help but chuckle.
Meanwhile, Leshawna had finished her chat with Jasmine and was now stuck with an over enthusiastic Cadet.
"Y'know, Leshawna?" Macarthur started. "If it wasn't Sammy or Jo in the finale, I would've hoped it was you."
The Sistah was surprised. "Oh...thanks...Macarthur, was it?"
"Valentina, actually. It's not something I tell most people."
Leshawna blinked, but decided not to question it. "Ok, well...Valentina. That means a lot. You're pretty cool yourself. Honestly, I thought you were too far into your own head, but you're actually-"
"And I really wanted it too, after your abysmal performance in World Tour. I mean I was already hoping you would win in season one and then the whole voted off by a parrot' thing happened. Then you were outcast by your own teammates in Action, and let's not even go into how you were manipulated in season three." She paused. "Actually, never mind, I'll talk about it…"
As the burly Cadet rambled, she failed to see Leshawna's content expression fall.
Confessional (Leshawna): She sighed. "I know she probably meant well, but…that cadet is a lot to deal with."
Static.
Sammy took a seat near a window. She was hugging her briefcase tightly. Despite her excitement about winning, she wasn't entirely happy. In fact, she was a little scared. She thought about what she would do next. Five million was a lot of money. Even if she split it with her friends, she still had a lot leftover. Where would she put it? The Bank? What if it got stolen? What if the paparazzi would show up at her apartment? What if she started getting calls from estranged family members who just wanted to 'reconnect?'
Her thoughts of family reminded Sammy of her sister. What would she think of this? What if she wanted to start fixing their relationship, just for the possibility of getting a portion of the money? Sammy groaned. Why does she always have to ruin these things for me?
However, The Twin took a deep breath. Then she thought about her Mom. She laughed at the thought of her jumping for joy, after seeing what happened. Then she thought about all her friends. Jasmine. Dawn. Leshawna. Even Duncan and Mikayla. They were happy for her and she knew it. She would make sure to see them in future. She probably had enough for a ticket to Australia.
"Hey Sammy." The Twin turned. Her old friend, Jasmine, was standing in front of her. "How ya feeling?"
The Twin didn't answer for a minute. She didn't want to lie, but needed to think of the right answer. Eventually, she had one. "To be honest, I'm feeling a lot of things." She paused, before eventually smiling. "But I think I'm ok with that. After all I've been through, I'm ready to face anything that life has to offer."
Jasmine gave a big smile to her friend. Sammy got up from her seat and the two shared in a soft hug.
The chopper flew away from the sunken island. Chris stood at an open doorway, as the double rotor helicopter flew next to the camera.
The host smiled. "Well, it looks like it's time to say goodbye, yet again. Will we be back for another season?" He shrugged. "Who knows? What we do know is that this season definitely lived up to its name. This is Chris McLean, your host, signing off. We thank you for sticking with us for this epic season. One last time, this has been...Total...Drama...LegeAAAAAAAAA…"
Just as he was about to finish his final line, Chris was shoved out the door by Sammy, Jasmine and Leshawna, and sent plummeting towards the sea. They watched him disappear in the water, and laughed.
"Been waiting to do that for five seasons." Leshawna laughed, high-fiving her two friends.
The chopper then picked up speed and flew towards the setting sun. Chris re-emerged from the water, a few seconds later, shaking his fist at the helicopter.
I want to say thank you to a few people, but I don't want to do it here. For one, I don't want to save it for right at the end. So, there will be one more chapter, but it'll only be the alternate ending because it's Total Drama and it's tradition. But, I'll say it right now, Sammy is the official winner.
So, I'll ask some general questions for now.
What was your favorite moment in the series
Favorite chapter?
Who was your favorite character? Least?
Anything I could've improved on?
Feedback is much appreciated. I'll save my thank you's for next time. Hopefully it won't take that long to get out because I have a few important things I need to say. So, don't miss it!
I'll see you guys next time.
