Fighter Flight
A week after the whole mission with Threepio and R2 has passed and things have gone back to the swing of things. Especially since Errol and Kanan have started training Ezra in the ways of the Jedi. Kanan is the main teacher with Errol being there for assistance and for teaching particular things Kanan didn't know.
In fact, at this moment, Ezra was in the kitchen with Chopper, seeing if he can use the Force on a bowl.
"Okay, you can do this." Ezra told himself. He focused on the bowl and it shifted slightly, causing Chopper to beep in reaction.
Ezra focused some more and then the bowl seemingly floated in the air. He opened his eyes and grinned at his apparent success.
"Yes!" He cheered, but it turned out that Chopper just lifted it off of the table with one of his mechanical limbs.
"Very funny. But I don't need your help." Ezra said in annoyance and this made the droid get angry and throw the bowl at him, spilling food that was in it.
"Chopper!" Ezra snapped which made the droid make his way out of the kitchen for his life.
Ezra then got up and started to chase after him.
"Come back here, you rolling junk pile!" He shouted after him, running past Errol who was sitting down, reading something on a datapad in regular clothing. He shook his head at the dynamic between those two.
Sabine was in her own room and was spray painting something, ignoring Chopper being chased by Ezra. But then Ezra got back and peeked into her room.
"Oh, uh. Hey, Sabine. I see you're painting stuff." He said, trying to seem casual.
"Well, nothing gets past you, kid." She replied.
"You know, if you ever need a little inspiration…." He openly suggested, trying to make her think of him.
"Yeah. Then I'll be sure to look elsewhere." She told him, knowing what he's really trying to tell her. Chopper came up behind Ezra and beeped something about his room.
"Chopper! Stay out of my room!" He yelled at him but then Chopper got into the room. Sabine started to spray paint again.
"Gotta go!" Ezra told her and she rolled her eyes at the pair's behaviour.
Ezra entered his room, which also is Zeb's and right now, the Lasat was sleeping in the bottom bunker.
"Kid, you wake me, you die." Zeb warned him but before the teen could reply, Chopper decided to shock him.
He then tried to shoot an electroshock at him but Ezra dodged it and it hit Zeb, shocking him out of the bed. Both Chopper and Ezra laughed, finding it funny but then they stopped when Zeb started growling.
"It's his fault!" Ezra shifted the blame.
"I don't care. I'm crushing you both." Zeb snarled as smoke was coming off of him. Chopper acting like a coward, left the room, leaving poor Ezra behind.
"That's Lasat gratitude for you. All I did was save your life from an Imperial Agent. Or did that slip your mind?" Ezra brought, trying to prevent him from being hit. And it worked as Zeb sighed and deflated his fist.
"How could it? You remind me every 23 seconds." He groaned and walked back to his bunk.
"You know, Zeb, in some places, when a man owes you his life, he's your servant forever." Ezra then said, trying to have the Lasat do things for him.
"Well, this isn't someplance. It's my place. So get out." He barked, getting in his bunk, wanting to go back to sleep.
"Sorry, roomie. No deal." Ezra said, getting into his bunk, but it for some reason it fell on top of Zeb, knocking the breath out of him, but also making him extremely angry, wanting to hurt the kid.
Ezra now decided to run out of there.
"It's not my fault!" He tried to argue, with Sabine watching the whole thing play out.
"Tell it to my fist!" Zeb yelled and chased after him. Sabine watched in amusement, while Chopper was beeping and showed some bolts.
"The bolts from Ezra's bunk?" She asked. He beeped back and she entered their room. She already had an idea in place.
"Hmm. Needs a little something." She contemplated.
The two were running throughout the ship and ran past Errol who this time groaned and followed them.
"I swear, those two are conspiring against me." He muttered to himself.
Kanan was in the cargo bay and was sorting some boxes when Ezra came in. He looked at him, wondering what's going on until he heard Zeb's roar and the Lasat leaped onto the kid, smashing right into the crates and started fighting.
Errol was on the railing above and rolled his eyes and Hera stood next to him, clearing her throat to get their attention. Zeb, Ezra and even Kanan looked up at her and she scowled down at the two on the floor.
"You two are in deep trouble." Errol said in a sing song manner.
"It's his fault!" The two said at the same time but were worried that they are indeed in deep trouble.
By the time this happened they landed on Lothal.
"My fault? This is your fault." Zeb spat at the teen as they both got up on their feet. And at the same time, Errol climbed down the ladder.
"Don't go blaming this on me." Ezra spat back, pointing right into Zeb's face.
"Enough!" Hera scolded them as she too climbed down the ladder.
"This is my ship you're wrecking, and I want you off it." She told them off and opened the ramp with a hand on her hip. The two walked up to her and shoved each other at the same time.
"Hera, be reasonable." Zeb whined.
"Come on. You know what he's like." Ezra tried to argue, shoving the Lasat back. She looked at Errol and nodded. He got up to them and handed Ezra a pad that had a list on it.
"Uh, what's this?" Ezra asked the pair.
"A market list." Errol answered.
"The town of Kothal's two clicks to the south, and I'm sending you both on a supply run." Hera informed the two, shocking them.
"With him?" They both said at the same time.
"With each other." She firmly stated.
"Oh. Don't even think about coming back without at least one meiloorun fruit. Clear?" Hera then told the two.
"In fact, to make things more interesting, you don't at least get a meiloorun, I'll use the both of you as dummies when I do some training. Clear?" Errol added, making the two cringe and Hera actually liked the idea since it'll make the two work together.
"Clear." They repeated and as they walked out, they shoved each other again, getting on Ezra's nerves.
"I swear, they'll push those buttons again if they keep this up." Errol told Hera and Kanan.
"Let's hope that doesn't happen then." She teased with a huge grin. Errol couldn't help but blush and smile.
"How do you expect them to find meiloorun on Lothal?" Kanan asked the Twi'lek, feeling jealous again with how her and Errol teased each other.
Hera just simply smirked, knowing full well.
After that, they piled and managed the crates together and they went off to hang out and relax.
Both Hera and Errol were in their quarters just hanging out, eating some food.
"So, you never did say how you met Chopper." Errol pointed out with his mouth full of food.
"Don't speak with your mouth full." Hera playfully scolded him and his eyes widened, realising he did something rather rude and so he chewed his food and swallowed it.
"Sorry. Anyway, how'd you meet the droid?" He asked her, leaning forward as he was sitting on the floor, with Hera on the bottom bunk.
"Well, it was during the Clone Wars. I was a little girl when the Battle of Ryloth happened. Suddenly, a BTL Y-Wing crashed in front of my own home. It's pilot died either from impact or earlier but I noticed something moving so I got closer to see and it was an astromech. It was C1-10P. I took him in and called him Chopper. We've been partners ever since." Hera explained her story with a reflective look on her face.
"He's that old, huh?" Errol asked. She chuckled at the idea of Chopper being old.
"I guess so. I know you haven't said anything about your parents. Is there anything you can tell me?" She asked. Errol took his eyes off her and looked away.
"I don't know." He said, not wanting to compromise his parents safety.
"Come on, you can trust me. I won't tell anyone, I promise." She reasoned, leaning forward, mear centimetres from each other.
After thinking about it, he sighed.
"Okay. All I can say is that they were part of the Jedi Order and served in the Clone Wars. And my dad is Mandalorian, my mom is a Togruta." He revealed and she was a bit surprised with the last piece of information, though not by much due to the mark on his forehead.
"That explains the mark then. And why you wear Mandalorian armour." Hera considered.
"Yep. In fact, my armour was a birthday present from my grandmother on my dad's side." Errol said.
"Hera, promise me you won't tell anyone about this. It's for my parent's safety." He requested from her.
"Of course." She replied.
After the conversation, they chatted about other things and parted ways with Errol outside the ship, taking in the view of the Lothal plains and Hera walking down the hallway but then heard spray paint coming from Zeb and Ezra's quarters. Confused, she tried to enter but was blocked by Sabine who stood in the door frame.
"Oh, sorry, Hera. No entry." She told her. This just adds to Hera's confusion.
"You do realise this isn't your room?" She told the young Mandalorian.
"I was inspired. It was Ezra's idea." Sabine said, before closing the door, making sure no one got in.
"Eh, could be worse. Could've been mine and Errol's room." Hera muttered to herself and carried on down the hallway into the common room where Chopper and Kanan were playing a game of Dejarik. Chopper managed to beat the Jedi and beeped in victory but then Kanan managed to make a sneaky move, claiming final victory, making Chopper fume and leave the room. Hera smiled watching the whole thing and then sat next to Kanan.
"Have to admit, it's a lot more peaceful aboard with the kids gone." He told her.
"Yeah, I'm feeling a bit guilty about sending them-"
"On a wild meiloorun chase?" He asked.
"By the way, what's going on between you and Errol?" He then suddenly asked, a bit more serious than before.
"What do you mean?" The Twi'lek asked back, taken aback by the question.
"Hera, the whole crew have noticed how you two interact. Do you have feelings for him?" He persisted. Things have now become a bit awkward for Hera since this is relating to their former relationship.
"Perhaps I do, do you have a problem with that?" Hera asked him. He put his arms up, trying to be innocent. The two didn't know however that Errol has just entered the ship and is heading right to their location.
"No, I just want to make sure you don't get hurt. I still do care for you, you know." He stated. And just as he finished saying that, Errol entered the common room and saw the two sitting there, looking a bit friendly to him, in fact too much to Errol's liking. He does know that there's something there between them, but is misinterpreting it as expected since he has feelings for Hera.
"Hello." He said, hiding his jealousy rather well.
"Spectre-4 to Ghost." Zeb's voice suddenly said through the comlink before anyone else could say anything.
"Alright. Go ahead, Spectre-4." Hera said through the comms.
"Right. Well, we've had a bit of a problem." Zeb said, making the trio grin as they expected this since meilooruns aren't local fruit on Lothal.
"I thought you might. Look, don't worry about the meilooruns." Hera told him and Ezra since he is with Zeb.
"Yeah, meilooruns. We found some. But we lost them. Then we found them again, but we smashed them." Ezra this time explained, and this made each of the three react differently. Hera was a bit worried, Errol's eyes widened at the escalation and Kanan felt, well, he didn't know.
"Just cut to the chase, kid." Zeb groaned, while a distinct sound can be heard, one that made the three pay attention.
"Wait. What am I hearing? It sounds like…." Kanan trailed off.
"Ezra, Zeb…. Explanation?" Errol frowned.
"Yeah, about that. See, well…. We stole a TIE Fighter." Ezra blurted out. And that caused both Errol and Kanan to fume.
"YOU WHAT?!/SERIOUSLY?!" Both Jedi yelled in fury, making Ezra and Zeb to cringe and wince.
"They're taking it better than I thought. Well, Kanan is." Zeb muttered to Ezra.
"You two are seriously pushing it now! Get rid of it!" Errol snapped at them, causing the two to have their eyes widen, not wanting to get rid of it.
"Do we have to?" They both asked in unison.
Errol couldn't help but sigh in annoyance that they acted like little kids just now. So did Kanan.
"Yes!" Hera shouted.
"At least tell us you dismantled the locator beacon." Kanan said.
"Of course. We're not fools." Zeb chuckled, hiding the fact that they didn't do that.
"Under there. The red wire. No, wait. The blue." He then instructed Ezra.
"Well, which one?" Ezra asked for clarification.
"The red and the blue!" Errol barked. The two were a bit shocked as the comms were still on.
"Right. Got it. I mean, got it a long time ago. You know, back when we first boarded. Right away. Immediately." Ezra told him, trying to act as though they did it already.
"Stealing a TIE attracts unwanted attention." Kanan said sternly.
"Rendezvous at Shadow Site 2. Fly straight there." Hera then instructed.
"Exactly. Don't stop. And don't do anything." Errol finished, stressing with this last point.
"On our way. I swear Errol agrees with Hera regardless." Zeb said and whispered the last point to Ezra.
"I agree with her because she makes valid arguments and points. Do you want me to shave your fur off?" Errol practically hissed. Zeb's eyes widened to the point that his eyes looked like they were going to bulge out.
"Right, Spectre-4, out!" Zeb said, cutting comms off.
Errol sighed and walked into his room to try and relax. Hera followed him, wanting to make sure he was alright. She entered their quarters to see Errol sitting on the bottom bunk with his head hanging.
"You alright?" She asked.
"I know I'm a Jedi, but can you massage my shoulders? Nothing else makes me more relaxed when I'm tense." He said to her. She didn't mind.
"Sure." She replied and then Errol got up and then sat on the floor, with his back facing her so that she could do her magic.
For the next several minutes, she massaged his shoulders and Errol felt as though he was melting with bliss. He started to feel calm and relaxed.
"Thank you, Hera." He thanked.
"You're welcome." She said and they got up on their feet. Hera left, leaving him by himself and being in a dazed state, thinking of how more perfect, beautiful and kind Hera is.
"I'm in love." He said in awe. He managed to snap out of it and walked out of the room.
Dusk arrived and Hera, Kanan and Errol stood outside the ship waiting for Ezra and Zeb.
"They should've been here by now." Kanan said as he stood on the ramp.
Hera looked out into the horizon and then spotted the two walking towards them.
"Over there!" She proclaimed, pointing at them. The two Jedi saw them and noticed that Ezra was holding a helmet.
"One fresh meiloorun, as ordered." Zeb said, handing Hera said fruit.
"Thank you, kind sir." She thanked him.
"Team effort." He then said, elbowing Ezra, playfully. Errol raised an eyebrow, seeing that they did something without wanting to rip their hairs off each other.
"What about the TIE Fighter?" He asked them.
"I crashed it." Zeb answered, rather sadly as though he didn't want to.
"On purpose. We didn't want it to fall back into the Empire's hands." Ezra added, showing the TIE pilot helmet in his hands. Errol and Kanan looked at each other and shrugged their heads with smiles on their faces.
"That's what we like to hear." Kanan said, satisfied and then the three walked back into the Ghost.
Zeb let out a sigh of relief because he and Ezra lied about the TIE. They both then got into the ship, playfully shoving each other, feeling good that they can get along with ease now. They reached their quarters to see Sabine in there already, and this confuses them.
"Finished." She proclaimed, done with her spray paint.
"Uh, finished with what, Sabine?" Ezra asked.
"Thought it was a moment that needed to be immortalised." She replied, nodding to her work. They looked and were horrified to see that she did artwork of when Ezra landed on top of Zeb on the bunk, and it was done in a cartoonish way.
"And you did say you wanted to be my inspiration." She reminded Ezra.
"Yeah, but that makes me look like a fool." He cringed.
"Makes me look like a bigger fool." Zeb stated.
"I paint what I see." Sabine admitted. Chopper then entered and beeped, getting everyone's attention.
"Chopper!" Zeb snarled, getting his fists ready.
"This was all your fault!" Ezra spat at the droid.
"Come back, you metal menace!" He then told him as Chopper ran for his life.
"I'm tearing that rust bucket apart!" Zeb exclaimed as they ran after him. Sabine exited their quarters and smirked at their rather childish behaviour.
The two then crashed into some crates in the cargo bay, in front of Kanan, Errol and Hera. With Chopper watching the whole thing.
"It's his fault!" The two rounded on the astromech, who tried to act all innocent.
"At least they got rid of the TIE." Hera confessed.
"So much for staying relaxed." Errol murmured.
With the day over, they flew off, ready to do the next job, whatever that would be.
I need to give a grateful shout out to PsychicTitan, who I message back and forth with to help me make the romance between Errol and Hera work as well as possible, wanting the romance to be great.
