So I wrote this whole chapter on my phone and it may show. It will probably be a little bit before the next update because I should plan the chapter out properly. But there is now a poll up on my profile so go check it out to see which servant Gil will summon!

After the whole Alderp fiasco. Things died down surprisingly quick for how 'big' it was or how 'big' it was supposed to be. All that's really happening as of late is Sena keeping me under surveillance for most of the next few days. It wasn't really something that bothered me a whole lot if I was being honest. She mostly keeps to herself unless I directly confront her or she interjects in a conversation. So all in all, it's been a weird past few days but not horrible.

Currently I was walking the snow covered streets of Axel wearing my usual black jacket outfit. I was walking with Darkness at the moment while Sena trailed a bit behind.

"I still feel as if I could've done something…" Darkness hung her head a bit.

"And what would you have done?" I responded "flaunt your 'status'?" I said the last part a little more quiet.

"I could have. Maybe lessened the punishment and offered myself?"

I shook my head "Even if you said your true name and used your status to help in some way. I would've still had to pay the damages in some shape or form".

"I suppose…"

"Even if you did do that, Alderp would've taken advantage of you somehow".

"H-how do you think he would" her face started to heat up.

"Hmm… torture you, force you to be a maid, marry a cousin or who knows what"

"Then maybe I should've done it…" she squirmed.

"Maybe another time you can offer yourself to a noble" I chuckled. Looking over my shoulder towards Sena, I called out "You're only supposed to be surveying me for another few days right?"

I received a nod from the prosecutor "I'm ordered to watch you for another few days. But I am to accompany you part way towards the cult infested dungeon in order to ensure you embark on the quest".

"Fair enough. I'll probably prepare to leave tonight or early tomorrow. I'd rather not wait any longer".

"Understood".

Darkness looked towards me "How about I and the rest come along? A cult infested dungeon sounds like the perfect quest!"

I raised an eyebrow "So they can use you in a nefarious plan at the cost of your pain and/or sanity?"

"Yes! Exactly!"

I shrugged "Doesn't bother me".

"We must go tell the others!" She exclaimed with glee.

"Do you even know where they are?"

"I think they were going to be heading to the guild any minute now to find a quest. The debt towards the city's walls still needs to be paid".

"I see" I then addressed Sena again "Any objections to their party joining?"

Sena shook her head "As long as you are present during the quest, there should be no issue".

"Good" I nodded "then let's start getting ready".

.

.

.

We entered the guild not too long after. We almost immediately found Kazuma and Aqua arguing at the quest board.

"Look. If we take the Toad quest since SOMEONE" Kazuma looked to Megumin "disturbed their ecosystem with her daily explosions, we can make easy money!"

"But every time we do that quest I get eaten!" Aqua yelled back.

"Then get better at running!"

"How about you get stronger!"

'Of course they're arguing' I thought to myself before approaching "How about you join me and Darkness on a quest?"

Aqua was first to respond "Perfect timing!" She skipped over to me "I knew someone would come rescue me from being eaten by toads!"

"I'm not rescuing anyone" I pushed her away with a finger as she pouted. "I need to clear that dungeon the destroyer blew up at. Darkness said she wanted herself and you all to come along"

"Is there even a payout?" Kazuma tilted his head.

All eyes went to Sena who clarified "There is a small monetary reward since it would eventually be given out as an official quest". She then looked at me "But since you made a deal with the judge to clear it, there isn't as much of a reward since it's not an official quest yet".

"Hmm… makes sense" Kazuma shrugged.

"Do we get to keep what we find?" Megumin asked the prosecutor.

"To my knowledge" Sena adjusted he glasses "It is considered a dungeon and the basic looting rules apply. As long as it's not an ancient devil artefact that will bring ruin to the kingdom or a religious item that shouldn't be disturbed… everything is 'fair game' as they say".

"That works for me. I'm in!" Kazuma exclaimed.

"As long as there are no giant toads, I'm in!" Aqua have a thumbs up.

"I second and third that!" Megumin spoke out.

"And of course I will be there to defend us against the evil cultists! Even if I have to offer my body!" Guess who said that.

"Then it's decided" I nodded at them "I plan to either leave today or in the morning tomorrow. Which would you all prefer?"

"Hmm… I say tomorrow" Kazuma replied "gives us time to get ready and rest up. It's already afternoon and by the time all of us are ready and packed, it'll be pretty late".

"That's fine with me" didn't really matter to me "I have plenty of supplies and such stored so as long as you all can pack what you need, I can supply most of our equipment"

"Sounds good to me" Kazuma did a small salute "wanna spend the night at our place? So we can leave bright and early".

"I have no problems with that"

"Oh!" Megumin piped up "Can you make those French toast things again? With that syrup stuff?"

"Sure. I'll make some in the morning" a small chuckle escaped me.

"Yes!" She fist pumped in response.

Our attention was then brought to Sena again who cleared her throat "I guess I will be off to prepare".

"You're coming with us?" Megumin tilted her head.

"Only to a point" Sena responded "I still need to accompany Gilgamesh to make sure he actually takes on the quest as per the agreement".

"But he just said he would. Isn't that enough?" Aqua asked.

"It's the rules I have to follow" Sena sighed "Good day to you all". She then walked towards the entrance without a word. But upon opening the door, she almost walked in to someone who let out an "Eeep!" In surprise. "Ah I apologize miss".

"N-no i-it was my fault. I-I wasn't looking" the voice of a young girl replied as she walked past the prosecutor.

The girl looked almost similar to Megumin in a way. She had longer hair, tied into twin tails by a ribbon and was taller with bigger… assets. She had the same crimson eyes as Megumin but wore different clothes as well. She wore a black robe with a black blouse underneath and short pink miniskirt.

She looked around the guildhall until her eyes locked with another crimson eyed individual. And it wasn't me.

"Megumin my rival!" She exclaimed while approaching us and pointing at Megumin. "It has been a long time! Today is the day we settle our score once and for all!"

"Who are you again?" Megumin asked with a deadpan expression.

The girl looked shell shocked as she gasped "M-Megumin!"

I couldn't help but lean to towards Megumin a bit with my arms crossed "and who is that?"

Megumin shrugged "I don't know. Probably one of those 'scammer' things I've heard about".

After taking another glance at the girl I could tell that wasn't the case "I assume you're a friend of hers?"

"Of course I am! Come on it's me Yunyun!" she looked like she was about to cry.

"Oh yea this is Yunyun" Megumin replied evenly "daughter of our villages leader. Apparently she's my rival too".

"So you do remember!"

"Well. She seems like a lovely person" Darkness approached her "I am Darkness. A friend and companion of Megumin".

"N-nice to meet you" Yunyun stuttered out. "I'm surprised no one laughed at my name…"

"Not like it's weird or anything" Kazuma shrugged before stepping up "I mean with names like Megumin" the aforementioned girl let out a 'Hey!' at that. "You get used to weird names. My names Kazuma".

Aqua took it as her turn to go next "And I am the glorious goddess Aqua".

"More like glorious doofus" Kazuma added.

"Are you trying to pick a fight with us!" Both Aqua and Megumin shouted before ganging up on Kazuma, Darkness being the one to try and break it up.

"They all seem like such good friends…" Yunyun stated longingly at the four.

"They're certainly too loud sometimes for my taste" I dryly remarked.

"A-and what's your name?"

"Hm? Gilgamesh"

"I-it's nice to meet you" she bowed slightly.

"Likewise" I replied evenly as the two of us just stared at the… interaction if you could call it that. After some hair pulls, cheek pinches and a few slaps. The spat was over. "Will you go get ready for the quest now?" I asked a little irritated. They all nodded and were starting to head for the exit.

"Wait! What about our duel!?" Yunyun called out to Megumin.

"Hm? Can't you see I'm a little busy? I have to prepare for a quest".

"Aaaand we don't want to destroy any more of the city than we already have" Kazuma responded as well. "And this guy" he pointed at me "can be scary sometimes so I ain't pissing him off any more than I have to".

Yunyun started to look like she was about to cry. 'Why I associate with the weird people? I have no idea'. It would probably be for the better if this girl didn't break down and start crying.

With a heavy sigh I looked to her "Can you handle yourself in a fight?"

"W-wha-"

"Can you. Or can you not. Handle yourself in a fight?"

"Y-yes I can!" She exclaimed with determination.

"Alright then. Prepare yourself for a dungeon raid. We leave tomorrow morning".

"You're letting her come with us?" Megumin interjected.

I nodded "You can have your 'battle' be a contest that will determine a winner along the way, or at the dungeon itself".

"Thank you mister!" Yunyun wrapped he arms around me but slowly realized what she did and jumped off "S-s-sorry!" her face went beat red.

"No problem" was my even reply.

Darkness then raised a question "Do you have a place to stay the night?"

Yunyun pressed her fingers together in embarrassment "Not yet no… I was going to get a room at an inn".

"Well if you're coming with us" Kazuma gave a thumbs up "might as well spend the night at our place!"

"What so you can do pervy stuff to her?" Aqua asked smugly.

"What?! No of course not! At least not yet"

"Hmph! Perv" Aqua crossed her arms.

.

.

We arrived back at Kazuma's shortly after leaving the guild and nothing super interesting happened along the way. Some adventures tried to lure Kazuma into an ally for something but a quick glare sent them away. Something to do about a cafe they wanted to visit again. Yunyun herself was somewhat quiet during the walk to Kazuma's place. She was enthusiastic for sure but almost seemed as if she was a little scared to open up too much. It's not like she was a nervous wreck the entire way, but she had a few moments, if you'd want to call it that.

Upon arriving, all of the group split off towards their rooms to start packing. Yunyun didn't have much on her and only picked up a few things she had brought to the city. And with me having the Gate of Babylon, I didn't have to pack anything.

So while everyone else got ready, I went to the recreation room that they usually used and took a seat on the couch in front of the fireplace. Yunyun entered the room with me as well and sat on one of the wooden chairs by the wooden table the group would often eat from.

'Still don't see why they don't use the dining room as often'. Not like it bothered me or anything.

With nothing special to do. I cast a small fire spell at the fireplace to warm up the place. It was snowy and cold outside and even though it didn't bother me much at all, a nice wood burning fire while drinking a fine glass of wine was nice.

I casually held my hand out and my adventurer card fell into it from my gate. I could practically feel Yunyun's gaze from across the room but chose not to say anything.

'It truly has been some time since I've actually unlocked more items for my gate'. Other than Enkidu's chains and a few small things like a few Arrow Protection Amulets and various enchanted jewellery, I hadn't really unlocked anything cool. So after going through my card for a while, I grabbed a few things that would serve me well.

The most notable unlock able was the Dingir of all things! It was basically a clay tablet that held a plethora of spells and gave me access to various wands, staves and other magical items. At least that was what the brief description told me on my card.

'The caster version of Gilgamesh used this as his main weapon other than an axe if I'm remembering right. And I think I heard about it having the potential to punish gods in the right circumstances'. It's not like I could just whip out every magical staff and mystic code the real Gilgamesh owned. But I could only grin at the possibilities.

It's not like I could use the thing right now. I didn't want to risk burning down the house with a massive ring of fire. So now it was currently in my hands via my Gate. Touching the book gave me a similar feeling to when I touched Enkidu's chains. It didn't give me as much of a headache or change my mood like it did before. But it was still interesting to receive another reaction like that again.

But once I did start reading it, it was odd reading from a stone tablet of all things. I could understand what I was reading but it was more of a baseline understanding of what I could do with it. As I was reading the tablet, I could tell that Yunyun was behind me, staring at the tablet with curiosity.

"Do you wish to see it?"

She jumped a little bit calmed down fairly quick "What is it?"

"It's a tablet filled with spells. Among other things".

She came around the couch and sat down next to me. I handed her the tablet and she stared at it perplexed. "I've read plenty of magic books before… but I don't even understand the writing".

"It's not a language that you'd be familiar with".

"So you can read it?"

"To an extent. I just recently got my hands on it and I have yet to study it further".

"Wow! That's amazing!"

"Haha! Of course it is! Anything I own within my Gate is of the highest quality. Whether it be weapons, food or even furniture!"

Her crimson eyes stared at me in awe before she asked a question. "What do you mean Gate? Is that the thing you got the glass with before? I've heard how you fought a demon general and stuff but that's about it".

"Indeed it is" I replied to her question "My Gate of Babylon has an incredible amount of use. I can store weapons, food, magical items and an infinite amount of other things. I can even repair and purify objects".

"Woooow! I really wish I had something like that" she pushed her fingers together.

"I'm sure most people would" that did beg the question though "I've recruited you to our party and I can gather that you're a magic caster. But I do not know the full extent of your abilities". Thanks to my eyes I gain a lot of info when observing her, but the ability hasn't been perfected yet.

"Oh! Umm I'd like to think I'm pretty good at magic. Back in my village, they teach almost everyone to use magic and other things. But I know a few spells like Light of Saber, Fireball, lighting and even Teleport!"

A short whistle escaped my lips "That's certainly impressive for someone of your age".

"T-thank you" she bowed her head with a blush.

"Makes me wonder why Megumin focuses on explosions as much as she does"

"It's what she likes I guess. But she's super powerful! And is my rival!"

"If you say so" I shrugged before taking back the tablet and dismissing it just in time for everyone else to enter the room.

"Yo" Kazuma waved "we miss anything fun?"

"Can't say we've done anything 'fun'" I leaned back into the couch.

"Meh. Guess we can work on that later" Kazuma shrugged. "What do you guys want to eat tonight?"

The party of four contemplated for a while until Darkness had a suggestion "Why not a potluck? There's a good amount of us here. It'll be fun".

"That'd be awesome! Haven't had one of those in a while". Kazuma spoke with excitement in his voice.

And with the help of everyone, we grabbed a good amount of food from the kitchen. I supplied a few things myself and we ended up finding a few small grills and pots we could use to cook at the table. With everyone gathered around at the rec room table, we commenced the potluck. I supplied a few drinks and within no time at all, everyone minus Megumin and Yunyun were drunk or teetering on the edge. I myself wasn't wasted or anything but I did have a buzz. Darkness was very adamant that the two children didn't drink anything so that was that. Of course Megumin was upset but Yunyun was more or less okay with that. She just seemed happy to be here.

I did have to stop Aqua from drinking too much and the rest agreed. No one wanted to deal with her being hungover on the job. The mood was relaxed and everyone was in more casual clothes. I was still wearing my usual outfit. But the others wore different clothing. Kazuma removed his cape and was wearing a gray shirt, Aqua was wearing a blue nightgown with her hair down, and Darkness had her hair down and was wearing a pink nightgown. While Megumin and Yunyun just took of their capes/cloaks. We had just finished eating our fill of food while I was finishing up a story.

"Then I attached a chain to the Wyvern and was able to ground it and finish it off!" I had told the tale of the large Wyvern I took down a while ago.

"Jesus dude you're crazy" Kazuma said to me with some slight amazement.

"I can only imagine how it would've felt to be rag-dolled by such a large ferocious creature…" Darkness was in her own world.

"You have to take us to the resort!" Aqua whined "I need a vacation!"

"For once I can agree" Kazuma actually agreed with the blue haired goddess.

"I've always wanted to go to Tanaka Island!" Megumin exclaimed. "My family could never really afford it. Or any vacation for that matter".

"I think I remember going once when I was little" Yunyun added.

"I believe I've been there a few times myself. My father usually took me" Darkness added.

"Then it's decided!" I exclaimed "after our quest. We will depart for Tanaka Island!" There was a resounding cheer. I looked to Yunyun "You're invited as well".

"R-really!?" Her eyes lit up "are you sure you want me there?".

"I don't see a reason not to"

"Will there be enough room?" She still seemed hesitant.

"While I didn't specify how big to make the house. I'm sure it will be fine" I waved off her worries.

"If it's not a bother" she muttered "I'll come along".

"The more the merrier as they say" Darkness smiled at the girl.

Kazuma then let out a big yawn "Well I think it's about time I hit the old dusty trail". He then stood from his seat, stretched and patted his belly "that was some gooooood stuff".

"It really was" Aqua sighed in contempt "Your wine is always so good" she directed the last part at me.

I chuckled then responded "I will not be giving you more tonight".

"Pleeeease? Just one moreeeee"

"Not from me" my response made her pout. I then snapped my fingers and caused all the dishes to either return to my gate or be deposited into my gate through portals. "I'll bring them to the kitchen but I won't be putting them away".

Kazuma just shrugged "Fair enough. We'll deal with it in the morning".

"Wait hold on a second" Megumin got our attention "Which room is she going in?" She pointed to Yunyun.

"Any room I guess" Kazuma scratched the back of his head.

"Well none are prepared except ours" Darkness replied.

"Just have her room with you" I pointed at Megumin.

"Why me?"

"She's your friend is she not?"

"W-well uhhhh…" she looked at Yunyun who gave her the human equivalent to puppy dog eyes. "Fine…" she sighed out.

Yunyun then gained a big smile "It'll be just like when we were kids!"

"Uhhhh yeah sure" Megumin stood up "I'll show you where my room is". The two then left the room followed by Kazuma and Aqua who more or less stumbled her way out.

"Well then" I stood up "I'll use the same room as before".

"We haven't really maintained it" Darkness scratched her cheek awkwardly as she stood.

"No problem. Nothing a few minutes of using my Gate and cleaning can't fix".

"I guess your right" she followed me out the door.

.

.

.

After a quick stop at the kitchen to drop all the dishes off, I went to my room. It wasn't absurdly dirty or messy and didn't take much time at all to tidy. Once I was finished tidying up, I removed my jacket and placed on a grey pair of pants with a white long sleeve shirt to sleep in.

After I plopped myself on the bed, I procured the Dingir again. I opened the tablet and stared at the markings etched into it. It was odd how I could and couldn't read it at the same time. Me as a regular human couldn't read this, but my Gil side could. The more I read the tablet, the more I understood its contents.

There were a few tests I wanted to try that hopefully wouldn't burn the place down. The first was to let the book go and watch as a bunch of glowing markings surrounded the book in a circle while it floated just above my lap.

'Test number one complete. Now let's try a spell' there were plenty of spells that could be cast from the tablet, so I decided on something easy. I traced my finger along the tablet and with a mental command, I cast a spell.

A small section of the tablet lit up and bright white lights sprung forth. The lights circled around the room at a decent pace before a mental command brought them back to the tablet. 'So just mentally thinking of the spell can trigger it. But I'm guessing I will have to practice with it more to get better. For now I may just have to trace the spell to help with the activation if I need to'.

After practicing with the tablet by casting minor spells that didn't cause damage, I closed it then dismissed it. Even though all of what I just did, didn't drain any magic, I did feel oddly tired.

So within no time at all, I fell asleep. Only to find myself in a new location. The smell of salt was in the air and I could feel a warm breeze.

'Is it happening again?' I thought while opening my eyes. Currently I was on a beach. I looked at my surroundings only to see a small watchtower to my left, a jungle to my right and a ridge line behind me.

Looking at myself I noticed I was in a completely new attire as well. I was wearing a loose pair of harem pants that had openings on the front and side. Blue wraps around my waste along with some kind of feathers and a small piece of armour holding it in place. A dark purple vest like garment was on my upper body which was open to expose my chest along with gauntlets from my usual armour on my hands. To top it all off, there was something akin to a turban on my head with long twin tails of white cloth draped down, a gem in the middle and blue horns wrapped around the headpiece.

'Only thing I'm missing is the purple tattoos' I joked to myself while I observed myself. The getup was familiar to Caster Gil from the series. But I didn't have purple tattoos so it was a little weird that I still had my red ones.

'Am I having one of those dreams again? Is it because of the Dingir?' I didn't receive an answer to the question I asked myself.

All I could really do was cross my arms and watch the ocean waves as my clothes rustled in the wind. But the silence didn't last long. A feeling of dread overtook me as the sky turned dark. Any other sounds seemed to be muted as the ocean stilled.

The ground started to rumble causing the ocean to produce large waves that slowly turned black.

"What is happening?" I mumbled before I felt the dread intensify from behind me. I quickly turned around only to see myself in a different place once again.

The sky was extremely dark now and I found myself standing atop the same temple when I came here from before. The only difference was that the city was nearly in ruins. Oddly enough there were no screams. It was… empty.

I nearly stumbled as a the ground shook once more. This time it was more violent. I swept my gaze across the horizon for a moment until I locked on to something that made my eyes widen slightly.

"Oddly beautiful don't you think?" A voice spoke from behind me.

Turning my head revealed Enkidu, or who I assumed to be Enkidu, walking to stand next to me.

"Don't suppose you know if I can die in my dreams?" I joked slightly.

"You afraid?"

"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't" I looked back in front of me. Except the thing that caught my attention stopped moving as it stared at me. "Even in dreams. Who knew a primordial god could feel so… threatening" it was the monstrous form of Tiamat. Snarling teeth and all.

A chuckle escaped Enkidu's lips "I do find it odd that we're here again".

"It's probably this" the Dingir appeared in my hand.

"That's probably it" Enkidu shrugged.

"I guess whenever I acquire an item tied heavily to the 'real' Gilgamesh, I have these dreams"

"Got any idea why that is?"

I shrugged "Maybe these items cause a reaction with this body. Forcing me to 'remember' past moments somewhat. But it's strange… these aren't memories, nor are they premonitions".

"You certainly are a weird one" Enkidu joked.

"I could say the same to you"

He grabbed his chest in mock pain "Your words run deep!" We shared a chuckle together as the area around us slowly started to fade away. "Guess we don't have much time this time around".

"A pity. Our last talk put a lot of things into perspective for me. It's odd…"

"What is?"

"I feel almost sad this is ending so soon"

"Is that you talking? Or Gilgamesh talking?"

"I… think it's both at this point. We've only truly spoke once, but I still feel a sort of connection with you. I can't really explain it"

Enkidu smiled "Well I look forward to our next meeting. Friend" he offered his hand which I took.

"Until next time" I smiled.
