Always Two There Are
It's been a week since the Ghost crew picked up Rex and Alaara and since there hasn't been much activity, they decided to take this chance to relax and just hang out. Alaara became a military advisor for the Rebellion.
Currently, Rex and Zeb were playing Dejarik in the common room. Sabine was also in there, just tweaking some spray paint on her helmet. And both Errol and his grandma were playing catch with a ball.
"Let's end today's lesson by levitating Chopper." Kanan told Ezra as they entered the common room.
"If I do, can I drop him?" Ezra asked, getting the attention of said astromech.
"Sure." Kanan shrugged. But before Ezra did anything, Rex chuckled as he was able to beat Zeb in Dejarik.
"Chalk another one up for the clone." He proclaimed. Zeb groaned at first but then he chuckled.
"Takes more than brawn to win this game, big guy." Rex told the Lasat.
"*chuckles* Maybe I let you win, old guy." Zeb remarked.
"Hey, he just gave you an important tip. It'll be wise to listen to him." Errol told him.
"Lock it down." Sabine whispered to Chopper and he did as told, which didn't get unnoticed by Errol, Alaara and Rex.
"Come on, Ezra. Focus." Kanan told his Padawan as he closed his eyes and reached his hand out.
"Focus. Use the Force. Look through the Force. Lift Chopper up. Picture it in your mind." Kanan further told Ezra and because he was locked down, Chopper wasn't being lifted even though Ezra was trying.
"I can't! I can't do it." Ezra said.
"Yeah, well, you need to look with your eyes just as you look through the Force. You would've noticed that the droid's got his feet locked down." Alaara told him and he glared as Sabine, Chopper and even Errol laughed.
"*sighs* It's not fair." Ezra complained.
"Real battles usually aren't." Kanan told him.
"Both Generals Skywalker and Flynn combined the Force with their wits, and it made them great warriors." Rex brought up.
"Ezra's got plenty of wits. What he needs is more discipline." Kanan told the clone, with Ezra sighing from hearing this.
"Well, then you better let a soldier handle that." Rex said as Hera entered the common room.
"Excuse me?" The Jedi asked, sounding offended.
"Sabine, I have a mission for you, Errol, Chop and Slick. Thanks to Captain Rex, I found an old base where we might be able to salvage some much needed medical supplies. Zeb, you should go too." Hera stated. Zeb acknowledged.
"Better find the med supplies quick. Captain Wits is about to need them." Kanan mocked Rex, which earned him a punch in the arm from Errol, who gave him a glare and Rex to chuckle dryly.
"So there's where the boy's lack of discipline comes from, hmm?" Rex replied.
"You're saying I lack discipline?" Kanan asked, feeling a bit insulted.
"Well, considering you're still technically a Padawan, yes." Errol said as he was heading to the Phantom with Sabine, the droids and Zeb. Kanan was taken aback hearing this but kept his attention on Rex.
"Funny. But a soldier's discipline can't compare to a Jedi's. It takes far more discipline not to fight." Kanan argued against Rex. Ezra just watched, and Alaara saw this.
"Oh, so you're just gonna ask the Empire to lay down their weapons and give up." Rex pointed out the flaw with that logic.
"No, that isn't what I meant. What I meant is Ezra's got to learn to stay in the moment, be present. You got it, Ezra?" Kanan then said, not knowing that his Padawan climbed up the ladder to join the others.
"Hey, get out. You're not assigned to this mission." Errol said as he saw Ezra join them.
"I assigned myself. I'd rather deal with the dangers out there, than stay in the crossfire here." Ezra retorted.
"Word it however you like, you're running away from your problems." Errol retorted back.
Sabine then detached from the Ghost and piloted the shuttle and they eventually reached an old structure floating in space.
"What is this place?" Ezra asked.
"It's an old Republic medical station abandoned after the Clone Wars." Sabine explained. She then found a docking bay and entered Rex's codes which made the blast doors open.
"What do you know? Rex's codes worked. Sabine stated.
"Well, he is a veteran of the Clone Wars." Errol reminded her.
"True."
She then landed inside with the blast doors closing behind her.
Everyone exited, with Errol and Sabine with their helmets on. Both droids were beeping about the place being creepy.
"Oh, come on, you two. It's not so creepy. Just dark. Nothing we can't handle." Ezra told them, not knowing that Errol decided to scare him.
"BOO!" He bellowed out, smacking his hands on Ezra's arms, making him jump in the air, screaming like a little girl and then he turned to see Zeb, Errol and Sabine laugh so hard that they're struggling to stand on their feet.
"That's not funny, Errol!" Ezra shouted, annoyed that he would do such a thing.
"You're right! It's hilarious!" He replied as he caught his breath with everyone else.
"Nice one, Tank Boy." Zeb said and the two high fived as they walked towards a door with both Errol Sabine turning on their own flashlights. Sabine then pressed a button on the panel yet nothing happened.
"Yep. I was afraid of this. No power." She said.
"I'm on it." Zeb assured as he forced the door open with his strength. As he did they all looked down a rather dark and creepy hallway. Everyone walked in, seeing that the place was truly old and wrecked up. Errol couldn't help but feel as though there's something here with them.
Sabine decided to tag the wall with a starbird.
"Sabine, hurry up." Ezra called out to her as they walked past her. She didn't notice that some Probe Droid was watching her until it chirped and flew away, making her turn around to see nothing.
"Hey." Errol said, placing a hand on her shoulder, making her scream and turn to see him and Ezra.
"*sighs* Guys!" She snapped at them, walking up to catch up with the others. The two followed her but Errol felt as though something was watching them, and it was not because the place was creepy.
After a short while of roaming through the corridors, they reached the command centre.
"Well, this is the command centre. Or what's left of it." Sabine told everyone as they all looked around.
"This might make a good base for us." Ezra suggested.
"No. It's too open in space. I'd rather have a base where it's very much hidden on some random planet." Errol shot the idea down.
"Exactly. Also this place looks like it's about to fall apart." Sabine agreed with Errol, taking her helmet off.
"Chopper! Power it up." Sabine ordered the astromech and not only did he power up the command centre, but also the whole medical station, which inadvertently attracted unwanted attention.
"I didn't mean the whole station. I meant this control panel." Sabine corrected him and he just shook his head.
"Okay, Chopper, shut everything else off except for this one terminal." She then ordered him and he complied. Sabine then checked the systems and the results weren't great.
"Hmm. Got the inventory files, but most are corrupted, unreadable. I can't tell where the med supplies are or if they even exist." She then told everyone.
"So, change of plans then. Chopper and Slick stays here, repair the files, while we search for the supplies." Ezra stated, igniting his saber for light.
"Well, it's worth a try, I guess." Sabine replied, putting her helmet back on and turned her flashlight on and joined with the others as they walked further into the station.
"Why don't you two put those Jedi powers to use finding the medical supplies so we can get out of here?" Zeb asked Errol and Ezra.
"Technically, that's not how the Force works." Errol told the Lasat.
"And besides, I don't need my Jedi powers to find them before you do." Ezra bragged in a smug manner that made Errol roll his eyes. A cocky and smug Ezra is the worst kind of Ezra.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Zeb asked.
"Well, generally it means I'm more perceptive, I can think on my feet, and I'm faster." Ezra bragged some more, pointing a finger at Zeb as he turned his saber off.
"Hmm. Really?" Zeb glared as Errol and Sabine got up to them and separated the two.
"Guys, now ain't the time to figure out who's better. Let's just get the supplies and get out of here; this place just feels wrong." Errol told them.
"I'll find them first." Ezra said, so sure of himself as he ran ahead.
"*scoffs* Cocky kid. Gonna run right past him." Zeb snarled, running after Ezra. Errol then noticed a whole bunch of crates and realised that they are the medical supplies. Then he heard a slight commotion to see Zeb, knocking Sabine over and he let out a quick 'sorry', chasing after Ezra.
"Hey, Sabine." Errol called out and then pointed in the room where the supplies are. She got up and saw.
"Should we tell them?" She asked.
"No way. They both deserve to tire themselves, considering their egos." He replied.
A while later, both Sabine and Errol loaded almost all the supplies and they were in the middle of loading the last of it. They went around a corner when both Ezra and Zeb crashed into them, making everyone fall to the ground. Ezra was the first to look and see the supplies.
"Hey! We found the supplies!" He remarked to Zeb. Errol punched him in the arm and slapped Zeb on the head.
"Actually, me and Sabine found them. We've been busy loading them while you two were chasing around." Errol spat at them, grabbing the crate.
"And we found it where you two ran off from. We didn't tell you because you would've slowed us down with your competition." Sabine added, making the two groan and moan.
But then they heard Slick say something over Errol's comm on his gauntlet.
"Slick? You and Chop need help?" He asked, confused.
"What's going on?" Sabine asked.
"Don't know. It seems the two need help." He told her.
"Well, better get back up to the command centre." She then said, about to walk back but Ezra gripped her shoulder to stop her.
"How about a shortcut?" He suggested, looking up at an open vent and so he jumped up to it and climbed in.
"Can't we go back the way we came?" Zeb asked, not wanting to go into what would be tight vents for him.
"Uh, that'll take too long. Chopper and Slick are in trouble." Ezra pointed out and so Zeb lifted Sabine and Errol into the vent and then he tried but he got stuck.
"Hey, wait! Wait! Okay, that's uncomfortable." Zeb said. Errol couldn't help but find it all amusing.
"Why don't you just get out and load that last crate into the Phantom?" Errol asked.
"Yeah, will do." The Lasat replied and then got out.
The three teens then crawled through the vents until they reached another hallway.
"Chopper! Slick!" Ezra called out, helping Sabine while Errol got himself out.
"Chopper, Slick, where are you guys?" Ezra called out again as they ran through the hallways. Errol sensed something down this one hallway they're facing. And it feels familiar, so familiar that he places his hand on his saber hilt. The three then see what looks like floating red light, and a figure just barely hiding in the dark.
"Guys?" Sabine questioned the light. It then floated up and revealed that it was a Probe Droid, but it wasn't a normal one as the figure behind it walked up.
"What is that?" Ezra asked.
"I-it looks like a Probe Droid." Sabine answered, on edge.
It then floated to the figure.
"My pet told me you were here. I've been searching for you for some time." The figure told the trio, clearly a woman. She was clad in black and had an Imperial symbol on her.
"A bounty hunter?" Ezra said.
"Guess again." The figure said before she ignited a red lightsaber. Both Errol and Ezra ignited theirs as well.
"An Inquisitor." Errol spat in disgust.
"Oh, good. I won't have to explain it to you. So, you know what comes next." The Inquisitor told them as two more Probe Droids showed up from behind her.
"Run!" Sabine shouted as she fired at the droids and then they started running. Errol swung at the Inquisitor but she deflected him back as she ignited the other end of her saber and started to spin it.
He then striked again as Ezra and Sabine dealt with the droids.
"You're a tough one, aren't you?" She questioned, impressed with his skill.
"Just like how you're all bark and no bite so far." He mocked and he sensed anger in her as she pushed him back and tried to swipe at his feet but he jumped and swiped two times to her face but she blocked them and then kicked him back, making him stumble on his feet.
"We need to find Zeb, Chopper and Slick." Sabine reminded them.
"Yeah, that way." Ezra said and then the three ran down the hallway until a figure stood in their way.
It was a male Inquisitor and he smirked evilly as he ignited his saber.
"RUN!" Errol shouted and they ran for their lives as the two Inquisitors followed them.
Their path was blocked by a locked door, which Sabine opened quickly.
"Go, go, go, go!" She yelled and they ran until The female Inquisitor used the Force to pull Errol back to her, and her droids helped by grabbing his legs.
"NO!" Ezra and Sabine shouted in fear.
"JUST GO!" Errol ordered them as he used his saber to stab the control panel and close the door.
"Such a noble act. Just like a Jedi." She noted, holding Errol up against the door with her droids holding him down as well.
"I learn from the best." Errol strained as she grabbed his saber.
"Not quite." She retorted. The male Inquisitor then charged at him but stopped when her saber blocked his.
"I'm surprised to see you here." She greeted him.
"The kill is mine." The male snarled.
"You are short sighted. We will use the boy as bait to draw in the others. Now find the girl and the boy." She ordered and the male walked off to hunt them down. She turned to Errol who just glared hard at her under his helmet as two of the droids flew off to join the other Inquisitor.
"You and I are gonna have a talk. And if you're good, maybe some of your friends will survive." She said, stroking his cheek.
"I know better than to trust a low life such as you." He spat, which made her slap him hard enough that his helmet flew off.
The Inquisitor took him to the command centre and cuffed his hands, leaving to sit on the floor. She looks down on him as she's on top of the holoprojector, crouched like an animal with his lightsaber in her hand.
She then got on her feet and faced him.
"You handle a lightsaber well, apprentice." She said, getting to eye level with him.
"I'm a Knight, thank you very much. And I can give you a lesson if you want." Errol retorted. Her mask then peeled back to reveal a Mirialan with yellow pupils in her eyes and marks on her face. Errol cringed at her appearance.
"You have great potential, but perhaps it is I that might teach you, and show the power of the Dark Side." She suggested, sitting on a chair opposite him.
"No. If Darth Vader has taught me anything, it's that it's full of empty promises." Errol said. He was told by Dash the big reason for why Anakin turned to the Dark Side and it was because he wanted to save his wife's life, which resulted in her death.
"And besides, the Dark Side didn't help the Inquisitor that faced Kanan." He then added.
"Yes, the death of the Grand Inquisitor was a surprise to all. Yet, it does present the rest of us with new opportunities. There are many hunting you now, all intent on killing you and your Jedi friends" She then said, pointing his saber at him and then getting up close to him.
"All you have to do is tell me where your friends are, even your parents, and I just might keep them alive." She tempted him.
"Do you really think I'll believe an ugly phoney like you?" Errol mocked, which resulted in one of her droids shocking him, which made him hiss in pain.
Seeing that he's putting up a fight, she reaches out into his mind to try and find out about his parents and the Rebel fleet. Sensing this, he does his best to resist, which was a struggle because it was very painful.
"Why resist, young one? Why resist knowing you'll feel pain?" She teased. Every time she was close to getting answers, Errol's mind walled it up. She decided to go for another route. This way, she saw a familiar Twi'lek.
"Oh, what's this?" She asked, Errol knew this was bad and so he pushed back, which was starting to work as she struggled.
"Is she someone special?" She questioned, seeing the reaction he's giving.
"Is she your lover?" She then asked and that was it for him as he glared hard at her and let out Force energy that shot her a wall so hard that there was a significant dent in it.
"You'll never come close to touching her, you pile of Bantha crap!" He spat and all the Inquisitor did was chuckle darkly, already getting an answer she was satisfied with.
"You really think you're gonna make me reveal where my parents are? You're more dumb than I've thought." Errol mocked her and she instantly slapped him across the face.
"I may need you alive, but I can make you be cut into multiple pieces." She stated, placing her saber in front of him.
They then heard footsteps and saw the male Inquisitor entered with both Ezra and a helmetless Sabine. He then forced them on the ground, next to Errol.
"What has the boy revealed?" He asked his fellow Inquisitor.
"Nothing I wish to share." She snapped at him.
"Contact your rebel friends and bring them here. That's all I ask." She then ordered Errol.
"No. Just, no." Errol spat.
"Contact your friends." She then said, more firm and her saber pointed at him.
"Are you deaf?! I said no." He spat again.
"Guys, where's Zeb?" He then asked his friends.
"We tried to fight, but Zeb never had a chance." Sabine said.
"He's dead." Ezra added. Errol was initially shocked to hear this but he used the Force to sense if he was indeed dead, yet he felt his presence, alive and well.
"Hello, Spectre-6, come in." Zeb's voice said over the comms.
"Uh, do you read? This is Commander Meiloorun." He then continued, confirming that it is indeed Zeb.
"Answer him." The male Inquisitor ordered.
"Uh, Commander Meiloorun. Yes. Yes, I can hear you." Sabine replied.
"You missed your check in. Am I correct in assuming mechanical difficulties have your craft stranded again, and you're in need of help with repairs?" Zeb then asked, pretending still.
"Answer him." The female Inquisitor told her.
"Commander, we, uh, we can handle anything. No need for you or the others." Sabine replied, which made the male Inquisitor grab her by the head and place his ignited saber by her neck. Errol glared hard at him.
"No, Commander. We changed our minds. We could use help." Errol said.
"Bring Kanan, and you better bring both Dash and Ahsoka too." Ezra then said, which made the Inquisitor let go of Sabine.
"Very well. Meet you in Bay Six. And don't worry. We'll fix everything. Just keep your chin up and it'll all be fine." Zeb told them. The three looked at each other confused but Errol may know why he said that.
The Inquisitors escorted the three to Bay Six in cuffs.
"Once we have the others, we'll dispose of them. Very slowly." The female said, so sure they'd won as she opened the door to the Bay. They all entered and the blast doors opened, waiting.
Errol looked up, keeping his 'chin up' and smirked to see the Phantom attached to the ceiling and Zeb in the pilot seat. He then nudged both Ezra and Sabine and nodded up for them to see and Zeb gave a thumbs up.
The Inquisitor's droid noticed and beeped for her to look up. Zeb then detached.
"Go!" Sabine shouted and the three ran as Zeb fired at the Inquisitors who deflected the blasts with their sabers. Then both Errol and Ezra used the Force to grab their sabers and ignited them, with Errol using the Force to boost his strength and jump, destroying his cuffs and jumping to the female Inquisitor, slashing at her in the right eye as she was distracted by Zeb. She screamed in pain and the male Inquisitor saw this and fought with Errol.
Meanwhile Zeb hovered over to Sabine and Ezra to get them to enter the Phantom.
"You're quite skilled for a Jedi. You'll be a challenge." He hissed at Errol.
"Definitely." He agreed before kicking him back and then swiped at his legs, cutting them off from the knees. He too screamed in pain and Errol ran to the Phantom.
"GO!" Errol shouted at Zeb and as he was about to fly out through the blast doors, both Inquisitors used the Force to pull them back. Errol knew a way to get out of this.
"Zeb, activate the Hyperdrive." He told the Lasat, which made everyone look at him as though he's crazy.
"WHAT?!" They all asked.
"Just do it!" He barked and so with reluctance, he activated the Hyperdrive which caused the Inquisitors to be thrown back in the air, not being able to hold them back.
Errol got the cuffs off Ezra and the three got up to Zeb.
"Nice plan, big guy." Errol praised Zeb as he patted his shoulder.
"Let's not get all emotional. It wasn't a big deal. But I did save the three of you by myself." Zeb said. Both Slick and Chopper beeped angrily at how he's ignoring them.
"Yeah, you two helped a little." Zeb admitted and they both cheered.
They all eventually reached the fleet and attached to the Ghost. Errol, Ezra and Sabine slid down the ladder into the common room where Hera, Rex, Kanan and Alaara were.
"Ezra, we need to talk." Kanan said to his Padawan.
"Yeah, we do, about the two Inquisitors we just ran into." He revealed to them all and they were all stunned to hear this. Especially Alaara and Hera for Errol.
"Inquisitors?" Kanan questioned.
"Yeah. It turns out the one you fought was called the Grand Inquisitor. Zeb was able to get us out of there." Errol stated, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend and grandma for comfort as Zeb climbed down with the supplies.
"Well done, soldier." Rex congratulated the Lasat.
"It was a group effort. Those Inquisitors are nasty business. Kanan, why didn't you tell us there were more of 'em?" Zeb asked his friend, who didn't really know what to say as he too didn't really know.
"Commander Sato is going to need a full report on this." Hera stated.
"Well, we did get the medical supplies." Ezra told her.
"Well, that's good news. I'll meet you four on the command deck." She then said to the four and they nodded.
"Kanan, they know of my parents." Errol then told the older Jedi. Alaara decided to try and comfort Kanan as Errol left to go find his parents.
On the Liberator, Errol explained to Ahsoka and Dash about the Inquisitors.
"This is not good. We now have to be more careful from now on." Ahsoka said.
"There's something you should know." Errol said.
"And what's that, sport?" Dash asked his son.
"I slashed one in the eye and cut the legs off the other. And they may know of my love for Hera." He revealed.
"They'll be more determined to find us now." Dash pointed out.
"Son, you need to be more careful from this point on." Ahsoka cautioned Errol, who sighed in agreement.
"I know, mom." He said and then he hugged her for some comfort. She smiled lovingly and hugged back, with Dash joining in as well, having a moment together as a family.
