Brothers of the Broken Horn
A few months have passed since the encounter with the two Inquisitors and the Phoenix Squadron have started to hide on the planet of Garel, in particular Garel City.
In one of the docking bays where the Ghost was, Ezra was being taught by Rex on how to use a blaster properly. A now 16 year old Errol was watching the whole thing as Ezra was trying to hit the Stormtrooper helmet that Chopper has on one of his mechanical limbs.
"Aim, then fire." Rex advised as Ezra kept missing, much to Errol's amusement.
"Rex, I bet sometimes even you miss." Ezra retorted.
"Ezra, you make Stormtroopers actually look good." Errol teased, which made him glare at him and Rex, Slick and Chopper laugh.
"Speaking of, you're missing Jedi training. Which is now. Remember?" Kanan said, walking up to them.
"*sighs* You know, I can't be in two places at once." Ezra groaned.
"As a soldier, you're gonna have to learn to prioritize." Rex gave his piece of wisdom.
"Well, he's not a soldier. He's a Jedi." Kanan fired back.
"Yeah. *sighs* What if I don't want to be either?" Ezra questioned. This made Chopper drop the helmet, and shocked everyone there.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kanan asked.
"Hey, practice squad, Hera called a meeting. Attendance is mandatory." Sabine told them from the ramp. Ezra handed Rex the blaster before running off into the ship, followed by Errol and then eventually Kanan and Rex.
They all entered the common room where Hera, Sabine and Zeb were, with a hologram of Sato projected on the table.
"As we speak, the frozen planet of Rinn is facing an energy crisis. When their supply of fuel cells is gone, the settlements will not be able to power the heaters they need to survive." Sato explained the situation.
"They'll freeze down there." Sabine said, grimly.
"Well, Garel has a black market. Might as well check there." Errol considered.
"Bound to be generators or something we can get our hands on." Kanan thought the idea wasn't too bad.
"See what you can find, without delay." Sato said and then the hologram shut off.
"Gear up, everyone. Time to go make friends with the locals." Hera said, with Sabine, Rex and Zeb walking out. Ezra was about to walk out when Hera and Errol got in his way.
"Except you, Spectre-7. I asked you to clean the ion scoring off the Phantom's exhaust ports, twice." Hera reminded the teen. Kanan frowned, crossing his arms.
"But I had Jedi practice. And blaster practice." Ezra complained.
"Now you have scrubbing practice. Rex is right, you need to prioritise to be a good Rebel and Jedi." Errol told him.
Chopper was laughing at Ezra's misfortune.
"What are you laughing at? Uh uh. You're gonna help him." Hera scolded her droid, walking out.
"Slick, you stay here and watch them." Errol added, following her out.
"You do know he'll just run off, avoiding his problem, right?" Errol asked her.
"And he'll be in big trouble because of it." She replied.
Shortly after, the whole crew, excluding Ezra, Chopper and Slick, walked out of the docking bay into the city towards the black market to see if they could find generators.
Everyone had decided to split up so that they could cover more ground.
Errol, fully in his armour, walked around, paying close attention to everything and everyone just in case for both the generators and anything related to the Empire.
After a while, he was about to give up and find Hera when he heard something involving generators. He looked to see that it was a vendor, so he got as close as he could and listened to the conversation.
"-don't have any here, but there is someone that just might know how to get some." The vendor said to a Rodian.
"Who?" He asked the vendor.
"Someone named Tord Virreli. He manages that kind of stuff."
"Where can I find him?" The Rodian asked.
"All I know is that he's in the closest cantina from here. You'll have to ask around since I don't know what race he is." He answered. This was all he needed to hear as he moved his way through the market to meet up with the others.
"Anything?" Hera asked everyone and they all shook their heads except for Errol.
"I may have a lead." He told them, instantly grabbing their attention.
"Go on." His girlfriend told him.
"I overheard a vendor saying to a Rodian about someone named Tord Virelli, who just might know where to get some generators." He told everyone.
"Did you hear where he's supposed to be?" Rex asked.
"The vendor said he's in the closest cantina from here. Don't know much else." He stated and everyone nodded before they walked to the cantina, which Sabine actually walked past when they split up.
Everyone entered and the place wasn't even close to being pleasant as it was filled with unsavory folk of all shapes and sizes.
"Let's just find him, talk and get out." Hera said and they all nodded in agreement as they all headed to the counter where a human bartender was cleaning up a glass.
"Hey, do you know of a Tord Virelli?" Errol asked and that made the bartender stop and look at him with a hardened look. He then points over to a table in the corner heavily covered in shadows. There was a Bothan and a Duros playing some Sabacc. As they approached, it seemed that the Bothan lost, which made him so angry that he pulled his blaster out and shot the Duros dead.
Now slightly hesitant and careful they kept approaching him as he gathered the credits.
"Yes?" The Bothan asked, knowing they're here for him.
"Are you Tord Virelli?" Errol asked. The Bothan then looked at him and signalled all of them to sit with him.
"I just may be. Why?" The Bothan asked.
"We heard that you can hook people up with some generators. We happen to need some." Hera told him as she sat next to Errol and Kanan sat next to her.
"Now, you are correct. I happen to have some stored in a warehouse three blocks from here. However, I already made a deal with the Black Sun Syndicate. So you're a little too late." Tord explained.
"Perhaps we can work something out with them." Kanan suggested.
Just as Tord was about to say something, a whole bunch of Stormtroopers marched in as a part of their patrol. The crew moved into the shadows to avoid getting caught. Now Tord considered this odd as they didn't stand out that much among the low lifes and gangsters in the cantina. But then he caught sight of Errol's lightsaber hilt. He now realised that he was a Jedi.
"There's another option. I can just hand a Jedi in to the Empire and get a reward out of it." Tord darkly smirked.
Errol freaked out and had to think of something when he noticed a Houk walking past them. Knowing that they have rather short tempers, he uses the Force to trip the Houk as it walks past Tord. It got up and glared at them at them all.
"Don't look at us, it was him." Errol pointed at Tord and before he can say a word, the Houk lifts him out of his seat and throws him at a table full of gangsters who get up and they beat up not only Tord but also the Houk that threw him and this all started a huge bar brawl, which is distracting the Stormtroopers enough that the Ghost crew snuck out into a back alley and ran for a while until they've made enough distance and stopped in a dark alley.
"That was close." Sabine pointed out, catching her breath.
"Yeah. This is why we need to be careful with gangsters." Hera said.
"Why don't we just barge in the warehouse and grab the generators?" Zeb questioned, pumping his fists.
"We can't just barge into the unknown. We have to scout ahead and plan it out." Rex reminded, from his experience from the Clone Wars.
"Yeah. This is the Black Sun we're talking about." Errol backed up.
With that, they all headed to the only warehouse which was indeed three blocks away from the cantina. They all noticed that it had a hangar attached for ships.
They found a hole in a wall that was big enough for them all to crawl through and they all hid behind some crates to see that some members of the Syndicate are already starting to load some cargo in crates into a ship.
"Great. We don't have much time. What's the plan?" Kanan asked as everyone grouped in a circle.
"Well, considering that they're busy loading the cargo, we should just sneak up on them all and take them out all at once and then fly the ship off elsewhere and grab the generators for ourselves." Sabine suggested.
"That sounds like a solid plan. But we have to expect a firefight if it goes wrong." Errol stated and the thought was now in everyone's mind.
They all then sneaked through the shadows to surround the Syndicate members but as they were all about to sneak up and knock them out, Zeb accidentally knocked against a trashed bottle, making enough noise that the Syndicate looked around and barely saw them.
"Get them!" One of them shouted and fired their blasters at everyone, who all ran into cover behind some other crates and they all started firing back.
Errol and Rex managed to take down a few of the members and the whole firefight lasted for a while until everyone heard an odd sound. It sounded like metal clanging on the wall.
Then suddenly, the wall exploded inward of the warehouse, making everyone duck into cover as they heard chatter and barking from Stormtroopers.
"Do you think Tord gave them a tip?" Errol asked Hera as they fired at the troopers.
"More than likely." She replied as they all fired back and also saw that the troopers were also firing at the Syndicate members.
The firefight was now at a standstill for a good while until another sound made everyone stop firing their blasters. It was loud and as though it was large and mechanical. They all turned towards where the Syndicate were loading the cargo and they were scared to see a couple of binary load lifter droids coming up towards them.
"Bloody hell." Errol cursed as everyone excluding the Syndicate members started firing at the droids. The droids themselves were swatting the troopers as though they were nothing but the Ghost crew were smart and kept moving to avoid getting hit.
Errol dodged a swing from one of the droids and then he saw that the Syndicate members were trying to get away in their ship. Knowing that the guys can handle themselves, he flipped and dodged the droids to go after the Syndicate in the ship.
Once he got aboard, he became a blur, knocking them all out with a form of martial arts and then he found a couple of rocket launchers which made him grin maniacally as he grabbed them and fired them at once at the droids, taking them down.
"Thanks." Rex said.
"No problem." Errol said, dropping the launchers as everyone ran up to him.
"We need to get out of here before reinforcements show up." Sabine said.
"Well, let's pilot this ship to another hangar and get the generators." Hera said and they all ran into the ship, tied and cuffed all the Syndicate members and both Errol and Hera piloted the ship out of the hangar and after a short while of flying over the city, they all reached another hangar and landed.
Everyone then went to check the crates for the generators only to feel utterly defeated because there wasn't even one generator or fuel cell. It was just full of weapons.
"Really? All that gunfire and action for more weapons?!" Zeb groaned. Errol sighed in defeat and rested his helmeted head on Hera's shoulder, who patted him in assurance.
"Well, let's just destroy them and get back to the Ghost." Kanan said. Sabine and Errol planted some thermal detonators on the crates and they all ran out. As they got out, the crates exploded and made the ship catch fire.
They all then walked through the city back to their ship. Then Slick was beeping over the comms on Errol's gauntlet.
"Wait, what? What do you mean the Phantom's just got back? Where's Ezra and Chopper?" Errol questioned his droid. Slick beeped back.
"Oh, they left to help Vizago, huh? And someone you don't know piloted it?" Errol then asked and Slick beeped, acknowledging what Errol said.
"Alright, we're nearly there." He said and they all hurried through the streets back to the ship and there, they saw a Weequay standing on the ramp with a bunch of generators behind him and a bunch of credits in his arm.
"Who are you?" Hera asked the stranger as they approached him.
"I am Hondo Ohnaka, madam." The stranger introduced himself and instantly, Errol was fuming and pointed one of his blasters right at his face.
"Don't trust a single word this guy tells you." He hissed in anger. Hondo gulped in fear while everyone stared at Errol in surprise.
"And why is that?" Kanan asked.
"Because this pathetic, lying sack of meat more than likely sold Ezra and Chopper to some unnamed businessman just like he was planning to do to my mom during the Clone Wars." Errol revealed, which made the crew glare hard at Hondo.
"And just who might your parents be, young one?" Hondo asked.
"Oh, you know them. Ahsoka Tano and Dash Flynn." Errol spat.
"Now what are you doing here and what happened to Ezra and Chopper? And don't lie!" He then requested from the pirate.
They all then got in the cargo bay, listening to Hondo's story, which Errol immediately knew was twisted with what really happened and he knew because he saw both Ezra and Chopper, thankfully okay but Ezra had a frown on his face, looking at Hondo.
"My friend! I was just talking about you? How you and I rescued the generators from the evil Vizago." Hondo said, wrapping an arm around Ezra's shoulders. Errol snorted, skeptic.
"Yeah, that's not true. You stole the generators and my ship." Ezra accused. Hera, Errol and Kanan looked at Ezra and back to Hondo, who gasped.
"What an accusation! You wound me!" Hondo then proclaimed.
"Hondo, I warned you not to lie, and you did, so you have ten seconds to get out of here before I beat you up and then call my parents up to beat your ass as well." Errol warned and Hondo gulped before bolting out of there.
"Was that necessary?" Hera glared at her boyfriend.
"He's completely untrustworthy and he'd sell us out the second he helps us. He makes Lando seem like a nice guy." Errol argued and she knew he had to be right since his parents told him about Hondo from experience.
"Contact Commander Sato. Tell him Ezra Bridger found his generators." Hera ordered Rex, who nodded and walked to do as ordered. Everyone then walked off to do their own thing, resting for the day.
Sorry if this wasn't as good as the other chapters. I was busy doing some work for college and I just wanted to get this over and done with, especially because the next chapter will be rather significant, rating sized significant.
