Chapter One: Failed Kite

"I can't believe we got a snow day. I love snow." Alexis says as she is with the other kids.

"I do too." Linus says as the group waits outside Charlie's house.

"Come on Charlie Brown!" The group shouts.

"I've got my kite! Today's the day. I can feel it." Charlie says as he comes outside with a kite.

"A kite? Today?" Patty asks.

"In the middle of winter?" Violet asks.

"Come on guys!" Charlie shouts as he runs off.

"Only Charlie Brown." Franklin says.

"Well I'm going to watch." Alexis says.

"You know he isn't gonna succeed?" Violet asks.

"Your point is?" Alexis asks.

"That it's not worth it?" Violet asks as Alexis walks over and goes over to Charlie.

"New kite?" Alexis asks as she looks at the kite Charlie is holding.

"Yep. A perfect breeze. It all just feels right. Now that the kite eating tree is sleeping for the winter we have nothing to fear. Lift off!" Charlie shouts as he starts running with the kite only to get tangled into the string and go tumbling with Alexis following.

"Hey Charlie Brown, Alexis. Still no luck huh?" Linus asks as Charlie slides over to him and as Alexis comes over.

"Hi Linus." Alexis says.

"Ow!" Charlie says as his kite hits him.

"Remember it's the courage to continue that counts!" Linus says.

"Oh boy." Alexis says as the kite catches wind and begins dragging Charlie around until he gets caught in a tree.

"Stupid kite eating tree." Charlie says as Alexis comes over.

"You blockhead! I should have known. What kind of a person tries to fly a kite in the middle of winter? Don't you ever know when to give up? You will never get that kite to fly. Why? Because you're Charlie Brown." Lucy says as Linus comes over and helps Alexis get Charlie down.

"Thanks guys." Charlie says.

"Don't listen to her. She just doesn't have any hope for anything." Alexis says.

"Alexis is right. Ignoring what my sister Lucy says has enabled me to make it this far in life." Linus says.

"What I do without a couple of good friends like you." Charlie says as Sally begins to come over.

"My sweet babboo!" Sally shouts.

"Ah! Gotta go!" Linus says as he quickly leaves.

"I'll see you later Charlie. It was a valiant effort as always." Alexis says as she smiles at Charlie and leaves.
