The Holocrons of Fate

Even though it's been a week since retrieving the Y-Wings and Ezra stopped using the Sith Holocron, it's clear the effects from using it are still present within him. Errol and Kanan were the biggest victims. Errol because he essentially took the promotion from Ezra and how he took the Holocron from him. And Kanan because he hid it and wouldn't say anything about what he did with it, not even to Errol.

Currently the Jedi trio were aboard a CR90 Corvette that was travelling through Hyperspace. They entered the cockpit in the middle of a conversation.

"You're not gonna tell me what you did with the Sith Holocron, are you?" Ezra asked Kanan.

"You shouldn't have used it in the first place. Especially on your own." Errol responded. This made Ezra growl at him and clearly wanted to argue back but Kanan placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Ezra, calm down. And I've already told you, it's safe." Kanan told him.

"But what if there are secrets we can learn from it that'll help us destroy the Sith?" Ezra asked.

"That would be a terrible idea. Firstly, its secrets nearly destroyed you. And secondly, it made you act like a complete ass." Errol answered instead of Kanan, making Ezra angry but he was barely able to restrain himself from punching him and moved on.

"But if not to get the Sith Holocron, why did Master Yoda send us to Malachor?" Ezra questioned.

"We asked for a chance to defeat the Sith, and we failed." Kanan answered.

"And I would've lost my parents in the process as well." Errol added.

"Wow, how unthinkable. You have your parents." Ezra said with dark sarcasm, making Errol glare at him with venom. Of course, this relates to how Ezra lost his parents, and while it is sad, it doesn't give Ezra the right to mock him for having his.

"Coming up on the rendezvous point, Commander, but the transport's not responding." One of the pilots informed them right before they exited Hyperspace to see a Hammerhead floating in space, damaged severely.

"It looks like it was attacked." Ezra said, Kanan and Errol were too shocked to say anything.

They connected the airlock to the damaged ship and got onboard to see crates scattered on the floor and the lights were flickering and even the walls were damaged.

"There must have been one heck of a fight." Ezra commented.

"I can smell the carbon scoring." Kanan said as he walked with his hand out. He and Errol hear chirping from a droid.

"Over here." Kanan said. Both Ezra and Errol opened the door the chirping is coming from and they see both an astromech but also a Rebel, their top half blocked by a crate.

Errol walked up to them as the Rebel groaned.

"Hey, don't worry. We're here to help." He told the Rebel, kneeling down and resting him up against the wall.

"What happened?" Ezra asked, standing behind Errol.

"Red… red blade. After you… made me tell…. The Ghost is in danger." The Rebel told all three of the Jedi, which made them concerned, especially with the mention of a red blade.

"Another Inquisitor?" Ezra questioned.

"No way. We haven't encountered one in six months." Errol shook his head.

"We gotta warn Hera." Kanan added.

They brought the Rebel onto the Corvette to heal and the three then entered the cockpit to contact Hera.

"Got the Ghost for you now, sir." One of the pilots informed them and a hologram showing Hera popped up.

"Hera. Are you alright?" Errol asked her, hoping that she and the others are okay.

"Errol…." She said as though she was trying to say something.

"There's another Inquisitor after us. He knows where the Ghost is." Kanan told her.

"Guys, it's not an Inquisitor." Hera corrected her before being violently shoved off and they caught a glimpse of a certain red and black arm. Errol instantly clenched his fists, growing angry.

"Oh, no." Ezra muttered.

"What? Who is it?" Kanan asked.

"Just an old friend, Master Jedi." Maul introduced himself with a confident smirk.

"Hello there." Errol darkly greeted the former Sith.

"Maul? You betrayed me!" Ezra instantly spat at him.

"No, I betrayed your friends. But I would have remained loyal to you." Maul said, twisting the whole thing to make it seem like he was a victim.

"Cut the theatrics. What the hell do you want?" Errol asked.

"The Sith Holocron that our Apprentice and I acquired on Malachor." He answered his question.

"We don't have it." Kanan told him, crossing his arms.

"How unfortunate, because if that's true, then your friends have no future." Maul warned, the hologram now showing him standing over their friends on their knees and cuffed, watched by tour guide droids. Maul even ignites his lightsaber and holds it next to Hera's neck.

"LISTEN MAUL! IF YOU SO MUCH AS HURT THEM, I'LL RETURN THE FAVOUR TENFOLD!" Errol roared at him, genuinely terrified of Hera being harmed if not killed by Maul.

"Okay, we have it. Just not with us." Ezra ultimately promised, getting on Errol's nerves.

"We'll give it to you, as long as our friends remain safe." Kanan added, just as annoyed at Ezra but didn't show it.

"Agreed. Good." Maul smirked, deactivating his helmet.

"Oh, and one more thing, your Jedi Holodron, give that to me as well." Maul added.

"Kanan, no." Hera tried to tell him not to do it. Kanan however couldn't bear her getting hurt, still caring for her to this day.

"Fine." He groaned.

"I shall be in touch with coordinates for our rendezvous. Don't disappoint me." Maul finished off before the hologram shut off. When it did, Errol instantly shoved Ezra back so hard that he landed on his back.

"I knew you shouldn't have told Maul about Kanan's Holocron! Your blind trust put us in this situation!" Errol reprimanded Ezra, who got back up on his feet and shoved Errol back, though not hard enough that he fell onto his back.

"Maul was on our side at the time! And by the way, that outburst, why is it that you're allowed to be upset when you complained about me doing the same?!" Ezra argued back. Kanan had to break the two up and split them away from each other.

"Hey, stop it! Both of you! If we're going to save the others, you two have to stop being at each other's throats." Kanan reminded them of their new predicament. The two glared at each other until Errol took a deep breath and looked at Kanan.

"You're right." He agreed with him while Ezra turned away, crossing his arms with a huff.

"Is your Holocron still on the Ghost?" Errol asked the older Jedi Knight.

"Yes." Kanan nodded, sitting on the captain's seat.

"Then we can assume that Maul would find it in no time." Errol noted.

"Well, what about the Sith Holocron?" Ezra asked, turning to them.

"Like I said before, it is safe. Retrieving it however would be a problem." Kanan replied.

"How so?" He asked him.

"You'll see." Kanan vaguely answered.

With no hesitation, they headed back to Atollon at night and the trio got on speeder bikes and drove out of the base (Errol's parents were busy on a scouting mission) and headed their way through the planet's landscape with directions by Kanan to a particular location, which they just arrived at.

"So you hid the Holocron down there?" Ezra asked his Master about the pit in front of them, who held onto him.

"More like I left it with someone." Kanan corrected him.

"Who?" Errol asked, wondering who he meant as they headed down into the pit and stopped, getting off the speeder bikes, Ezra planting a sensor stick with them to ward off the spiders.

"Bendu? Bendu, are you here?" Kanan called out, walking with him out in front of him again.

"'Bendu'? Who's Bendu? There's nothing here." Ezra said, confused but Errol sensed a presence in the Force but didn't know what it was. He turned back around to see that the sensor stick was gone.

"He was here." Kanan said, so sure of himself.

"Maybe you're just hearing things that aren't there." Ezra shrugged. Errol still hasn't mentioned the missing sensor stick.

"Bendu! I need the Holocron! Bendu!" Kanan now shouted, his words echoing.

"Mmm, Kanan, I don't see your friend." Ezra said.

"Yeah, well, I think I can sense him." Errol muttered, looking around. Then suddenly, the spiders showed up.

"*gasps* Oh! Oh, but I do see crawlers! Lots of 'em!" Ezra said, growing a bit scared, Errol was a bit concerned of course, though seeing that Kanan wasn't phased by this.

"Hey, where's our thumper?" Ezra asked, finally noticing the missing sensor stick.

"If you stay calm, they won't attack." Kanan advised the two, knowingly. Trusting Kanan, Errol did as told and calmed down, Ezra however, didn't do this.

"Right." Ezra scoffed as he ignited his saber.

"Stay behind me!" He told Errol and Kanan.

"Ezra, I think you're making things worse." Errol said, not wanting things to get any worse.

"Indeed. It's possible to get along with them." Kanan said, glad to see that Errol was willing to listen.

"Mmm, I tried that, remember? They almost ripped my face off." Ezra said, still not forgetting that moment. But as the spiders came closer, they suddenly backed off. That was when Errol and Kanan felt him.

"He's here." Kanan said.

"What?" Ezra asked before the sensor stick landed next to him, split apart. Ezra deactivated his saber and looked around as the three heard a low groan in front of them and then the mass in front of them shifted and pulled apart, revealing that it was a large creature that looked down at them. Ezra couldn't believe what he was seeing and Errol wasn't that shocked as he remembered stories that his mom told him of creatures like this.

"The Jedi returns, and with his student and a friend. Perhaps for a talk? *laughing*" Bendu greeted them.

"Wow…" Errol muttered in slight awe.

"I don't believe it." Ezra said in disbelief.

"Unfortunately, we don't have time to chat, Bendu. We've come for the Holocron." Kanan told the large being.

"Ah, yes, the keeper of the shadow lore. Why do you want it?" Bendu asked.

"Tell him, Ezra."

"Uh… okay. We need it to save our friends. A Sith, Darth Maul, has them. He wants it." Ezra explained the reason they need the Holocron.

"I do not know this Darksider, but I know his kind. Why does he want it?" Bendu replied.

"I don't know. But he also wants my Jedi Holocron." Kanan brought up. This made Bendu realise something.

"Oh. He would bring them together? Such a vergence carries grave danger." Bendu informed them.

"Why? I thought Holocrons were just libraries of information." Ezra said, not understanding what he means.

"There's more to Holocrons than just information, Ezra." Errol retorted, having used Holocrons when he was younger.

"Indeed. If two such powerful sources of knowledge are united, they will grant a clarity of vision beyond your kind." Bendu agreed with Errol.

"What do you mean?" Kanan asked for clarification.

"When joined, any secret, wisdom or destiny can be seen through the Force. One could bring much chaos with such hidden truths. I have seen it before." Bendu explained what he meant.

"Well, we can't control what Maul will do." Ezra shrugged off.

"That's his point, Ezra." Kanan pointed out.

"Well, we still need it to save our friends, Kanan. So, are you gonna give it back, or not?" Ezra asked, slightly rude.

"Hmm. The object you seek is a source of imbalance between you and your fellow Jedi. If you want it, you must seek it out with your teacher." Bendu advised.

"Where is it?" Ezra asked. Bendu looked towards a cave.

"Somewhere safe." He said.

"Alright, I'll go, but I'm going alone." Ezra declared, heading to the cave.

"The cave runs deep, with many twists and turns. How can you be sure where it is now? Huh?" Bendu asked in a light tone. Kanan was able to hear something that Errol and Ezra couldn't.

"I hear something."

"If you listen, you can hear it." Bendu told the blind Jedi. Ezra, of course, didn't understand and then Kanan Force Pulled Ezra's saber into his hand.

"Errol, hold onto this." He handed Errol the saber.

"Kanan! Those spiders-"

"Will attack as soon as you turn it on. I'm coming with you, seeing that we have to work together." Kanan argued with his Padawan.

"But what about Errol?" Ezra questioned.

"I request he stays with me." Bendu said, confusing all three Jedi before both Kanan and Ezra went into the cave, but not before Kanan handed his saber to Errol as well.

"I have sensed something different about you compared to the others." Bendu told Errol.

"What do you mean?" He asked, wanting to know what is so different about him.

"I have sensed something that is destined that you are connected to." The Force being revealed.

"How?" Errol asked, taken aback at the fact that he's a part of some destined path.

"Young one, your legacy will be the key to ultimate change. The Ashla and Bogan converge on your future. As a result, they will change, forever." He said, confusing and leaving the young Jedi shocked. He didn't exactly know what he meant.

"What do you mean by change?" He asked the large being.

"Death." He bluntly replied.

"So you're saying someone would die?" Errol questioned, not liking the sound of that.

"Will they? So be it, then." Bendu shrugged off. He was about to question him further but then he noticed both Kanan and Ezra exiting the cave, with the Holocron in their possession.

"Your conflict has ended. Perhaps balance is restored." Bendu addressed. This made Errol smile, seeing that things have been sorted out between them.

"Thanks, Bendu." Kanan replied as Errol handed them their lightsaber hilts.

"Errol… I'm sorry. I know I've acted badly towards you for a while. I'd like to make up and move on." Ezra apologized. Surprising him, Errol smirked and then shook hands with him.

"No problem." He assured him.

"Your true struggle has only begun. Be warned. The Darksider will not be able to open your Jedi Holocron. That task will fall to one of you." Bendu warned them, mainly Kanan and Ezra.

"So that means we'll have the power of both Holocrons, too." Ezra noted.

"Do what you must, but such power comes with a price. Once a secret is known, it cannot be unknown." Bendu warned once more.

Now with the Holocron, the trio flew a couple of A-Wings through Hyperspace, heading to where Maul told them to meet up with him. Errol (wearing his helmet now)listened to Kanan and Ezra talk and one thing Kanan said was something that Errol needed to hear: That Maul is using their fear of him hurting their friends and if they control that fear, they'll have a chance. This hits Errol more as Hera is in harm's way and he can't bear her being harmed.

They eventually reached the rendezvous point, which was in the middle of an asteroid field. They flew to what was once a Mandalorian outpost and dock in the hangar, next to the Ghost, where they saw Maul walk out from. They then exit the ships.

"Over here, Master Jedi." Maul called out to both Kanan and Errol.

"Easy." Kanan advised Ezra while Errol kept calm.

"Welcome, my young Apprentice. I trust you found the Sith Holocron illuminating?" Maul asked.

"We don't see our friends." Errol pointed out, evenly.

"They will remain my guests until we conclude our business." Maul said as tour guide droids appeared.

"I will take you to them now." He then said.

"Escort my Apprentice to the command centre." He ordered the droids.

"Uh, if you attempt to escape, or if the droids are deactivated, your friends will die." Maul told Ezra as he was escorted by two of the droids, a third kept guard on Errol.

"You, Errol Flynn will stay here. Attempt anything, your beloved Captain Syndulla will die." Maul then threatened him, trying to get a reaction but all he got was nothing.

"This way, Master Jedi." He then told Kanan and led him somewhere in the base. Errol kept his eyes on the droid, thinking of ways to take it down when he saw another one enter the hangar and roll past him and enter the Ghost. He knew immediately Maul planned on killing them all anyway.

So with a speed that he never reached before in his life, Errol shot and destroyed the one droid guarding him in milliseconds and then charged into the Ghost's cargo bay with his lightsaber, beheading three other droids that were about to execute the crew.

"Further proof to never trust a Sith." Errol remarked as Kanan entered and they used the Force to get the cuffs off Sabine, Zeb and Hera.

"Thanks, darling." Hera said to Errol, lifting his helmet up slightly to give him a quick kiss.

"Where's Ezra?" She then asked.

"With Maul. We gotta go." Errol replied as Zeb woke up both Slick and Chopper. They all ran through the whole base and then Errol spotted a bright light coming from one of the rooms so they ran towards it to see Maul and Ezra on the ground and the Holocrons fused together in a bright light.

"Ezra!" Hera shouted but then the light consumed the whole room, blinding everyone, except Errol, who's body felt numb and the noise around him silenced as he started to see visions.

The first he saw was of twin suns beaming down on a desert planet and seeing Maul standing there on the desert flat.

KENOBI!

Maul screamed at the top of his lungs.

The next vision he saw was the same desert planet at night and there were two figures facing each other with lightsabers. One was cloaked and looked like an old Jedi since he had a blue lightsaber and the other was Maul and his red lightsaber. The Jedi must be Obi-Wan Kenobi.

And then the last one Errol saw was the same Jedi, most likely Obi-Wan looking out at a structure in the middle of the desert flat during sunrise. There was a female voice in the distance and Errol couldn't hear what it was saying though he saw a figure in the distance run to the structure after he heard the voice.

And then abruptly, an explosion threw him back, knocking him out. Same thing for Ezra.

Everyone else was thrown back though conscious and they saw that Maul was gone and both Holocrons separated.

"*groans* Where's Maul?" Sabine asked, looking around. Everyone else got up and saw both Ezra and Errol, knocked out.

"Ezra/Errol!" Both Kanan and Hera called out, concerned for them both. Kanan knelt next to Ezra, while Hera held Errol in her arms and removed his helmet.

"Come on. Find your way out, Ezra. Come back to us." Kanan begged his Padawan.

"Errol… wake up. Please." Hera whispered and Slick even lightly bumped his master, beeping lowly. The two teens then groaned, waking up. Hera was so happy that she kissed him passionately and he kissed back before they parted several seconds after.

"You two okay?" Zeb asked them as they sat up, Hera sitting next to her boyfriend.

"Yeah/I think so." They replied. Ezra then questioned Kanan about seeing him and how only saw him through the light of the Holocrons.

"Do you know what happened?" Kanan asked Ezra. Errol thought about what he saw and realised that the twin suns was something that Tatooine had and that 'Obi-Wan' seemed to be fighting Maul and watching over someone.

"I saw images, pieces of something, but I… I can't make sense of 'em. I don't know if it's what I wanted to see or what Maul was trying to see." Ezra explained.

"Errol, did you see anything?" Kanan then asked.

"Yeah. I think… I think I saw Obi-Wan." He revealed, shocking everyone, especially Kanan.

On the flight back to Atollon, Errol sat alone, thinking about how he felt when Hera was being held prisoner by Maul. He was so scared that he'd lose her. Heck, he reflected back to when he had that vision before first encountering those spiders, summing up his fears of losing her. This made him realise that he couldn't imagine living with her. Of course, this made him think one thing: He wants to marry Hera.

This was really a good chance to set up stuff. I'm sure you can guess what the set up is for. And now Errol is starting to consider marriage at this point into his relationship with Hera.
