Imperial Supercommandos
A week later and things have been uneventful. During this time Errol asked his parents to go find a gem for the wedding ring he wants to give Hera and they still haven't found the perfect one yet.
Anyway, orbiting Atollon is a CR90 Corvette. In it was a prison cell that had Errol, a 19 year old Sabine and Fenn Rau in it. Sabine and Rau are in the middle of playing Cubikahd, which was projected from Chopper right outside the cell, which was guarded by two Rebel guards. Errol simply wanted to keep his eyes on Rau, still remembering what he did to Hera.
"*scoffs* Blade to cube face four? That's a showy move. You play with too much bravado." Rau commented.
"Strategy is an art, Rau. Maybe I'm lulling you into a false sense of security." Sabine retorted. Errol looked at the game and realised that she made a big mistake.
"*chuckles* There's nothing false about it. Blade to cube face two." Rau said and when the move was made, it ended the game.
"I win." He declared himself victorious.
"I'll bet your game has slipped since you left Mandalore. Why do you keep coming back here? You and your Rebels have imprisoned me. My Protectors have orders to give you safe passage through our space. What more do you want?" Rau asked.
"Chopper, reset the board." Sabine requested as she swapped places with Errol.
"Blade to cube face three." Errol made the first move.
"I want the same thing we've always wanted. For you and your Protectors to join us, to fight the Empire." Sabine replied to what Rau asked her.
"Blade to cube face one. I made a deal with the Empire to survive. I made a deal with your Rebellion to survive. But joining you? My only true loyalty is to Mandalore." Rau stood firm with his loyalties. Errol frowned as even though he is loyal to Mandalore, he'll have to pick a side in this war.
"Well, I'll keep trying." Sabine said.
"I admire your persistence, Sabine Wren. You could have been a Protector, if not for your traitorous past." Rau pointed out.
"You'd better watch that tongue of yours, Rau. You're treading on thin ice." Errol warned him with a calm voice that made him sound intimidating.
"We could still work together now, if I were free. Not for the Rebels, not for the Empire. For Mandalore." Rau tried to convince them to side with him and to fight for Mandalore, though it wouldn't work.
"Did you forget how well things were when you tried your schemes on us. Oh, and… how's your nose?" Errol asked, looking at his nose, which had a scar on it from when Errol punched it.
"Sorry to interrupt playtime, but Hera wants you in the war room for a briefing. All three of you." Zeb appeared to inform them before leaving with Chopper following after him.
The three entered the war room, Rau in binders of course, and everyone stood around the holotable showing Concord Dawn.
"We've lost communications with the Mandalorian base on Concord Dawn." Hera explained.
"Rebel leaders are concerned your Protectors are setting a trap for us." Sato told Rau.
"Impossible. My men are loyal to my word. Your safe passage through our system is secure. If you've lost communication, something's happened." Rau argued against that claim.
"I'll go check it out." Sabine volunteered.
"I should go with you. They're my men. I can talk to them." Rau reasoned.
"Wait. Isn't he our prisoner?" Zeb questioned.
"More like a cranky guest." Kanan remarked.
"He can go, but he stays in binders. Take Errol and Chopper. Do a recon sweep of their base, then come right back. You are not to land or engage. And try not to wreck the Phantom II. We just got that thing." Hera ordered.
"Understood/No problem." Errol and Sabine nodded.
Errol, Sabine, Chopper and Rau entered the Phantom II and used Hyperspace to reach Concord Dawn. Errol sat across from Rau, keeping an eye on him and he looked out to see the blown apart section of the planet.
"That planet is all kinds of wrecked up." He muttered.
"Us Mandalorians have endured nothing but war since the Galactic Republic was formed. Just as we endure the Empire and your Rebellon." Rau answered. Errol then walked up to Sabine.
"Too bad our people can't stop fighting each other. In fact, Errol, aren't you ever going to tell me about your heritage?" Sabine said. Errol was about to answer when Rau, who snuck up on him, knocked him out.
Errol started to gain consciousness when he felt his nose being pinched by metal digits and then he felt a slap from a metal hand on his cheek, snapping him awake.
"Ow!" He groaned, seeing Chopper in front of him, giggling.
"Shut up you bucket of bolts. We should have brought Slick instead of you." Errol spat at him, annoying the astromech to the point that he shocked the Mandalorian-Togruta hybrid, causing him to hiss in pain but also notice that he was handcuffed to Sabine, who was unconscious.
"Hey, wake up." He said, gently shaking her awake.
"*groans* I'll live. Where's Rau?" She asked as Chopper took the handcuffs off of the pair.
"No clue, but it seems that he has our weapons." Errol noted as he felt for his missing blasters and lightsaber, heck, even his jetpack was gone. Then he realised something else.
"Did we land?" He asked Chopper.
The three exit the shuttle, Sabine and Errol putting their helmets on and they spot Ray up on the edge of a cliff.
As they approached up behind him, Errol Force Pulled his blasters into his hands.
"Turn around, slowly." He ordered him coolly. Rau didn't do as ordered as Sabine grabbed her blasters as well.
"Rau?" She asked, wondering what he's seeing so they walked up to him and then they saw the camp the Protectors were based at, destroyed and on fire, Errol looked closely to see that this wasn't by the Empire and instead was from other Mandalorians.
"Your men weren't laying a trap. They were ambushed. The Empire?" Sabine said.
"Mandalorians." Errol corrected her with a serious tone in his voice. Rau nodded in confirmation.
They all reached down towards the camp and looked around. Rau sees a helmet on the ground and picks it up.
"Precision detonations, laser strikes from above. Definitely a surprise attack by another clan." He connected some dots.
"Despite being a Mandalorian, I don't understand this whole conflict." Errol said.
"It's complicated. Look, Rau-"
"This is all your fault! If I'd been here instead of locked away by you and your Rebels, I could have prevented this." Rau angrily chastised Sabine, making Errol shove him back.
"Back off, Rau! We didn't mean for this to happen, especially Sabine, so lay off. And reality check, no matter how good you are, you would've been killed with your Protectors if we left you here." Errol argued back right up to his face. Chopper then picks up something and informs them.
"Chopper's picking up a signal from over there." Sabine said and they looked in the direction to see an Imperial Probe Droid pop up.
"Karabast!" Errol cursed. It fired at Sabine but Errol froze it and the laser bolt with the Force.
"Shoot it!" He told his fellow Mandalorian, who fired at it repeatedly until it exploded.
"There's a chance it told some Imperial buddies." He noted.
"We'll know if a few Star Destroyers are on their way. Which we don't want to wait and see happen." Sabine retorted.
"Yeah. We need to leave." Errol nodded. Chopper warbled before he activated his thrusters and hovered through the air.
"We have to go." Sabine told Rau, who walked past her and Errol.
"I have no intention of leaving, and certainly not with you." Rau spat back.
"The Empire could be on their way right now." Sabine pointed out.
"I've dealt with them before, and I'll deal with them again. But now, of course, I have the location of your Rebel base as a bargaining chip. It's no less than you deserve after causing all this." Rau warned but he didn't go far because he was slammed into a wall by Errol with one of his blasters rammed into the side of his head.
"You so much as tell the Empire, I will hunt you down and cut all your limbs off. I'm not letting you hurt Hera again." Errol snarled with pure venom. Chopper then came through the comlink
"The Empire is here already?" Sabine questioned. Errol backed off and looked over to Sabine, who used her antennae and saw in the distance some figures flying in formation on jetpacks.
"Are those Mandalorians?" Errol asked.
"Yes. Traitors. They serve the Empire." Rau answered. This made Errol furious to hear this, his Mandalorian side coming out.
"Run." Sabine told everyone and they did just that, hiding from the Mandalorians.
Errol heard one of them ordering the rest to spread out and sneaked his way through the camp to make sure he wasn't spotted.
He peeked around a corner to see the only red and white Mandalorian about to spot Sabine and Rau and so to prevent that, he pulled out his blasters and fired at his feet and armour, getting his attention.
"Get him." He ordered his fellow Mandalorians and chased after Errol, who fired back, managing to take down two of them, surprisingly easy.
"Seems Imperial armour is weaker than Mandalorian armour." He mutters to himself but then he finds himself surrounded by a bunch of them in a more open area. He saw no choice but to surrender.
"I surrender." He told them all, holding his hands up and dropping his blasters.
"Search the area. I doubt he's alone." The red and white Mando ordered his men and they searched.
"Who are you?" Errol asked him and he removed his helmet to reveal an older man with short light hair and stubble.
"I am Gar Saxon, Imperial Viceroy of Mandalore. And you, Rebel, are my prisoner." The Mandalorian introduced himself and Errol felt a surge and anger flow through him. He's facing his grandfather's killer.
Later on, a Mandalorian had found Chopper and piloted the Phantom II at the camp and escorted Chopper to a hut where Errol (his helmet being taken off) was in binders and on his knees with Saxon and two others standing in front of him.
"Where did you get that armour and how many are with you?" Saxon asked him.
"Hey, I'm just a scavenger, I work alone. And I found this armour when I last came here." Errol answered, sounding as honest as possible. Chopper was just escorted in and stopped next to him.
"What about the droid?" Saxon asked.
"Oh, he's not mine so he doesn't count. Especially since I have a better one back home." Errol replied, much to the annoyance of Chopper, always being compared to Slick.
"We checked the base. No sign of anyone else." The Mando that escorted Chopper informed Saxon. Errol shrugged his shoulders as a way to say 'see'.
"You'll excuse me if I don't take the word of a Rebel spy." He told the teen.
"Oh come on. I said I'm a scavenger. Just because I came here doesn't mean anything." Errol retorted.
"Oh, I don't think so. The Empire is fully aware Rebels have been using the system as a thruway to avoid patrols in this sector. And besides, you're dealing with the Mandalorians now, child, not some Imperial Officer fresh out of the Academy." Saxon reminded Errol. Errol's demeanor changed into a more serious one.
"I didn't really know that Mandalore's a part of the Empire. So tell me Saxon, how does it feel to betray your own people?" Errol coldly asked him, Saxon picking up on how serious he's become.
"Search his ship. Maybe we'll find the truth there. Until then, perhaps target practice with the droid will encourage you to talk." Saxon said, ignoring the question.
"Oh, please. A little scuffed paint ain't gonna make him look any worse than he already is." Errol shrugged off, causing the astromech to curse at him and wave his arms around.
Saxon then took a few shots, whizzing past Chopper, freaking him out.
"Alright, just stop! I'm Lando Calrissian. A smuggler. I heard there was some value here and I thought I'd check, it's how I got the armour and why I came back." Errol said, trying to defend Chopper. Saxon stepped to Errol's left.
"Every lie you tell holds a shred of truth. You're giving me what I want to know, whether you realise it or not." Saxon said.
"You really don't believe me?" Errol asked.
"I believe you've run out of lies. Blast the droid! Perhaps its memory circuits holds the secrets I want." Saxon then said.
"FINE! I'm Errol Flynn and I was sent here with Fenn Rau!" Errol finally confessed. Saxon stopped a Mandalorian from firing at Chopper and smirked at Errol.
"I thought I recognised you. I knew a man named Flynn long ago." Saxon said.
"Yeah. And I know you killed my grandfather." Errol fired back, frowning at the Mandalorian in front of him.
"*chuckles* He was pathetic, he should've handed your father to us, to Death Watch. That way you wouldn't be tainted with xeno blood." Saxon mocked, pointing at the facial marks Errol has. He growled, really wanting this git to be killed. Saxon then grabbed Errol by the throat and lifted him up.
"Now listen, you half-breed, where is Rau so I could destroy the Protectors properly?!" Saxon spat right into his face, revealing his xenophobia.
"I don't know!" Errol spat back, making Saxon throw Errol at a wall and he fell on the ground before getting kicked in the stomach.
"You kriffing sack of meat." Errol hissed in pain.
Saxon then in frustration pointed his blaster rifle at Chopper and Errol used the Force to deflect the blaster bolts away from Chopper, shocking Saxon and then he looked over at Errol, realising that he is a Jedi.
"How interesting. You've now become a more valuable captive, Jedi scum." He snarled, aiming his rifle at the near adult.
That was when a smoke grenade got thrown in the hut and covered the whole hut. Errol then used all his strength to bust out of his binders, reach for his helmet and blasters and then he saw Sabine run to him.
"Come on!" She said and led him out as he put his helmet on. Chopper then followed them out.
"What took you so long?" He asked her as they ran out and towards the Phantom II.
"I was using strategy. It takes longer." She replied, handing him his lightsaber and jetpack back.
"Well, you could have done it a little quicker." He joked, putting his jetpack back on.
"Rau should already be in the ship." Sabine said but then the shuttle flew off.
"Nice, your strategy is perfect so far." He sarcastically told Sabine.
"This wasn't what I planned for." She replied right before Chopper beeped in fear, making the pair turn around and see Saxon and his men come up to them. Errol ignited his lightsaber, ready to fight.
"Sabine Wren." Saxon, with his helmet on, greeted.
"I don't know you." She told him.
"Well, I know you and all about how you've joined the Phoenix Squadron. I also know that your mother is looking for you." Saxon replied.
"Don't believe him." Sabine stated to Errol.
"Why should I trust the man that killed my grandfather?" Errol asked her.
"Sabine never told you about her family? Well. She lies as well as you, half-breed. Her own mother stands with me and the Empire now." Saxon revealed.
"I doubt you gave her much choice, traitor." Sabine snarled at him.
"She came around herself after you abandoned the Imperial Academy. Your cowardice shamed your family's name and standing. Had you honoured your commitment, you could be wearing this armour now." Saxon continued on.
"*scoffs* What, and give up a work of art for a bland chunk of plastic?" Errol snarky remarks. Sabine gave a nod to him as a thank you.
"You think yourself a loyalist? The Empire will make Mandalore stronger than ever before." Saxon then declared his beliefs.
"The only one who's gotten stronger under the Empire is you." Sabine spat back, summing up the slimy being Saxon is.
"Out of respect for your family, I'll give you a choice. Give me Fenn Rau and swear allegiance, or you and the half-breed will die." Saxon then suggested, Errol snarling at how he's been constantly being called that. They all then stared down at each other until….
"I yield." She said.
"Are you kidding me?" Errol questioned in shock.
"We have no choice." She told him as she dropped her blasters and took off her helmet.
"On my mark, send feedback to frequency 337." Sabine whispered to Chopper, handing her helmet to him. Errol heard it and realised what she was doing and so he stepped aside, deactivating his saber as she kneeled down, Saxon walking up to her.
"Say it." He told her.
"I swear… that you're a fool! Chopper, now!" Sabine shouted and Chopper made the feedback, causing the Mandalorians to clutch their helmets in pain. Sabine grabbed her blasters and Chopper gave her helmet back.
"Let's go!" Errol shouted and both him and Sabine lifted off with their jetpacks and Chopper flew up to catch up with them.
Errol looked back to see Saxon and his Imperial Mandalorians chasing after them with their jetpacks.
"Now what?" He asked.
"They must have a ship nearby. Chopper, find it." Sabine ordered the astromech, who flew ahead to do as told.
"And in the meantime, we'll have to deal with our evil cousins. Who are flying faster than us." Errol pointed out. They then dived down into a narrow ravine. This was when the Imperial Mandalorians started to fire and Errol ignited his saber to deflect the blaster bolts and because he turned around to do so, he held Sabine's hand to avoid going right into a rock wall.
The chase kept going, Errol managing to take all but Saxon and one Mandalorian, Errol and Sabine using all of their weapons like thermal detonators, blasters, lightsaber etc….
"Are we close?" Errol asked.
"Chopper?" Sabine asked the astromech, who gave her an answer.
"It's just up ahead." She translated and they flew for a bit until they saw the wings of a Gauntlet Fighter up on a rock formation in the middle of the ravine.
But when they flew in closer, the remaining Imperial Mandalorian cut them off from the left and fired some shots, some grazing Sabine, making her bump into Errol and Chopper and they crashed some distance away from the ship.
Saxon and his last troop landed and aimed their blasters at them, kicking Sabine's blasters over the edge, though Errol still had his weapons.
"Let me have the pleasure of killing the filthy hybrid." Saxon told his Mandalorian.
"Gar Saxon!" Rau's voice suddenly yelled, sounding like it came from a speaker. That was when the Phantom II appeared from behind Saxon and his troop.
"Those two are under my protection." Rau then told Saxon.
"Rau." Saxon spat and he and his troop fired at the shuttle but Rau used the frontal cannons to make them lose focus and he then flew between them. The back then opened up and Sabine, Errol and Chopper ran up to enter.
"Go. I'm right behind you." Sabine told Errol, who Force Jumped into the shuttle and Chopper got attached onto the shuttle, however, Saxon pinned Sabine to the ground before she could get onboard.
"Sabine!" Errol shouted with concern. Rau turned around, knowing he had to do something. Errol saw that Sabine was able to hold her own against Saxon. Rau then fired down the remaining Imperial Mandalorian and exploded the Gauntlet Fighter.
With Sabine, she had just managed to damage Saxon's jetpack and faced him. He threw a punch but she moved out of the way, blocked a kick and then she made a low kick, sweeping Saxon off his feet and onto his back. He got back up instantly as Sabine was about to use her jetpack and pinned her again, pulling out a vibroblade, placing it by her neck.
"If I can't kill that disgusting half-blood, I can at least kill the traitor." He snarled at her. He was about to stab her neck when he got ripped away from her by Errol using the Force and Errol then slashed off his arm that held the vibroblade before kicking him back, right at the edge.
"Let's go!" Errol said, pulling her up on her feet and they flew up to the Phantom II and entered. Rau then flew out of there.
Now was the chance for them to relax with Errol sitting down and taking his helmet off, wiping sweat off his forehead.
"I really thought you left us." Sabine said to Rau, taking off her helmet and sitting on the co-pilot seat.
"I considered it. Then I realised you were willing to die for your people, even though most of them are not Mandalorian. You haven't forgotten our ways. That has earned my respect." Rau explained himself, making Sabine smile, both with pride and accomplishment.
"Well, after what just happened, I'm starting to get convinced that us Mandalorians are crazy." Errol remarked, making Rau chuckle.
"Crazy enough to join you." Rau then said, surprising them both.
"Honestly?" Sabine asked him.
"If you'll have me." He told her.
"Well, since I can be forgiving, I wouldn't mind you fighting with us." Errol said, liking the idea of another Mandalorian joining.
"Welcome to the family." Sabine stated to Rau as he entered Hyperspace, heading to Atollon.
Since it would take a while to get back to the Rebellion, Sabine sat opposite Errol in the back.
"Thanks for saving my life back there." She thanked Errol.
"Hey, don't worry about it. You would've done the same." Errol shrugged off with a wave.
The two were then in a nervous pause, mainly because of Sabine wanting to ask Errol something that she wanted answered before all this happened.
"Errol, about your heritage...could you please share it with me? If it's not too much to ask." Sabine brought up.
"*sighs* I guess it was about time I told you, even though I wish dad was here." Errol relented. Hera already knew, it made sense for Sabine to know, since she's a Mandalorian herself.
"My dad was born from Bo-Katan and from Sam Flynn. Apparently, they met when they were younger and they fell in love, so much so that she became pregnant at age 18 and gave birth to my dad. My grandad took my dad away from Death Watch, not wanting him to be involved with that life. He was eventually chased down and killed by Gar Saxon." Errol first started his explanation. Even Rau was listening and knowing Bo-Katan, she would've been mad to learn what happened to her lover.
"Then when my parents were in the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars, they encountered some members of Death Watch, including Bo-Katan. When dad revealed his name, she was shocked and taken aback to learn that he was alive after being told he was gone. Eventually, they got along and bonded. She was of course overjoyed to know she'd be a grandmother." Errol then concluded his explanation with a smile.
"I never met Bo-Katan. What was she like?" Sabine then asked.
"Well…. As much as I could remember, she was a natural leader, a caring woman and family is everything to her. She even gave me this armour for my birthday." Errol said, tapping his chest plate.
"*chuckles* It sounds nice to have a family like that." Sabine noted.
"Hey, you're like a sister to me, Sabine. Just like how the crew are all one extended family." Errol said, making Sabine feel uplifted to hear this.
"Thanks, Errol. You're so much like a brother to me." She told him and then they were in a comfortable silence for the rest of the flight.
