Gimli's POV

Legolas was ANGRY! I could tell by the way he was yelling and throwing stuff around.

"She has no right to come back into my life! She's going to ruin EVERYTHING!" He screamed.

I frowned and sat down on the bench, watching Legolas grab the closest thing at hand, Sam's cooking pot.

"Uh, Leggy…" I started. Legolas spun around with the pot raised above his head. I jumped back with my hands up. "Sorry! Sorry! I meant to say Legolas." he lowered the pot slightly. "Umm, I was gonna say, maybe instead of denting Sam's pot, we should go into the woods and practice knife throwing. There's lots of trees around."

Legolas tossed the pot aside. When he looked back at me, he didn't look as angry anymore. "Friend Gimli," he said in a voice that sounded like he was talking to a child. "I can't practice knife throwing at the trees."

"Why not?" I asked, "It will make you forget all about the witch… er, jerk, I mean."

"Can't do it. The trees have feelings, my friend." Legolas turned and started walking away.

I ran to catch up. Legolas sat down under a tree, and I followed.

"Friend Gimli, let me show you how to treat a tree," Legolas said. 'Hello, tree." He turned to the tree. "My name is Legolas. I'm from Mirkwood. I think maybe you have heard of that place before?"

"Oh yes. I have heard that it is a very wonderful place. Though not altogether safe." Said a voice.

I leaped to my feet in surprise, axe raised.

"Sit down, Gimli. And for goodness sakes, lower your axe. You're going to frighten the tree!"

I sat back down.

"Do you want to talk to the tree?" Legolas asked.

"What should I say?" I asked, feeling very awkward.

"Anything you want!" Legolas laughed.

"Oh, well then." I cleared my throat. "What's your name?" I said, feeling ridiculous and not expecting the tree to answer me.

"If you want to know, you had better climb up and get a better look at who you're talking to." The tree sounded like it was laughing at me.

I glanced at Legolas. He jumped up and leaped into the tree, and leaning down, he pulled me up with him. Turning to climb higher, I froze. My jaw dropped and I tapped Legolas on the arm. When I had his attention, I pointed up into the branches above our heads. There sat Tauriel, laughing so hard she nearly fell out of the tree. Legolas turned bright red.

"How dare you make fun of us!" He yelled. "I was trying to teach my friend what trees are like!" Legolas started climbing up to catch her, but she jumped down from the tree and ran away, laughing fit to kill.
