Summary: Now that Alya knows who Ladybug is, she knows that a certain liar is, in fact, a liar.
*Mild season 4 spoilers*
Marinette is Ladybug. Ladybug, the heroine of Pairs, is her best friend, Marinette. Yeah, that's a bit of an adjustment.
Alya's known for two days and she still can't wrap her head around it.
Marinette being Ladybug means so many things. It means that she's the reason Paris is safe from Hawkmoth. It means that the reason Marinette's always late or missing is because she's off fighting supervillains. It means that Marinette is the reason that she and Nino got together.
(Alya still doesn't know whether or not to thank Marinette for throwing her into that cage.)
Another thing─if Marinette's Ladybug, that means that she's been rejecting Chat Noir, a literal superhero, for a model. And not just any model─a basically blind model. Like, how many times does he have to call her his 'good friend' for Marinette to wake up and realise that Chat Noir is right there.
But, unfortunately, Alya promised not to pry. Ugh, the reporter in her wants nothing more than to press Mari for details, but the best friend in her won't let her. She wonders if this is how Chloé felt when she tried (and failed) to be a good person.
And yet, Alya finds herself walking into her classroom where everything is the same. Lila's in the back telling their friends about how she helped Ladybug set up a date for her and Chat Noir, Rose and Juleka are cuddling at their desks, Nino and Adrien are talking at their desks (and Adrien must have said something that was either cringey or hilarious because Nino's currently trying to fuse with the table), Kim and Ivan are having an arm wrestling contest and Chloé's bossing Sabrina around.
She finds it hilarious that Ladybug was among them the whole time any nobody… had… any… idea…
Oh shit.
Lila.
Lila, who's supposedly Ladybug's best friend. Lila, who Marinette's been calling a liar since day one. Lila, who Alya believed over and over again, instead of Marinette.
Well…
Alya better get ready to do some grovelling.
(And just maybe get a little bit of revenge.)
Marinette was bewildered. The second she stepped into the classroom, she was instantly engulfed by her best friend. Before Marinette could ask what this was about, Alya let go of her and steered her into the hallway and past a confused Mlle. Bustier. Eventually, she was forced into a storage closet. Marinette has no choice in this matter, it seems.
Ah, she knows what this is about.
"Look, Alya, if you want to ask more about Ladybug, we can do it during lunch at my house. But we should really get back. I've already missed enough classes─"
"It's not that," Alya shook her head fervently. Marinette was mildly disturbed at how far back her head could move. "Girl, I am so, so sorry. I didn't think─how could you forgive me? I'm a terrible person!"
"Um…" ah, that's it. "Alya, it was just a cookie. Tikki's already forgiven you!"
"No, no. Not─actually, wait." Alya dug into her bag, bringing out a large chocolate chip cookie wrapped in clingfilm. "I'm also sorry about that. Here Tikki." Tikki floated out of Marinette's purse, accepting the offering with little complaint. She floated up to sit beside the Windex.
Marinette's kind of scared now. "Alya, what is this about?"
"Lila, Marinette! Lila! I'm horrible! How could I not have seen what a liar she is! You told us and I never believed you!"
Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh.
Lila.
Yeah, that sounds about right.
"No, Alya, I'm not mad at you for Lila." She paused. "I mean, I was, but you're my best friend. I could never hate you for this."
"But I hurt you, Mari! I just thought you were jealous of her relationship with Adrien but you would never do something like that."
Marinette chuckled nervously, scratching the back of her head. "You'd be surprised."
"Huh?"
"Nothing!" Marinette waved her hands frantically. She sighed, taking a step back. "Anyways, um, do you want to know everything that happened?"
Alya nodded. "Everything."
There are three people on her to-be-murdered list at the moment.
Adrien Agreste, for his overbearing innocence.
Gabriel Agreste, for being a terrible father and causing Adrien's stupidity.
And Lila.
It's a very good thing that Alya happens to own a very famous blog.

Alya had multiple articles ready and posted before the day was up. She didn't want a single person unaware of the truth. Lila's going down for messing with Marinette.
When Alya repents, she never does it in halves.

Yeah, Marinette didn't expect that. Shit, this is a lot. Alya's always been dramatic but she hadn't thought that Alya would go after Gabriel Agreste. Marinette hadn't even really talked about him─just mentioned how Adrien's reaction was definitely something to do with how Gabriel raised him. (Or didn't, if you will.)
But it's sort of terrifying to have to sneak into school because there's a crowd of reporters outside and looking for Alya, Lila, Adrien and even Marinette. God, she can't wait to just get to English and pretend that all of this never happened.
But, of course, Marinette's life is far from easy.
When she gets to the classroom, a verbal war is taking place. Lila's on one side of the room, Alya's commandeering the other and Adrien and the others are standing between them, watching the exchange like it's a tennis match.
"I can't believe that you'd lie about me like that just because Marinette asked you to! But not only me, you also had to drag Adrien and his dad into your web of lies too!"
"'Web of lies'? Oh, that's hilarious." Alya scoffs. "And they were already involved, Lila. They've been involved since Adrien found out you were a liar and Gabriel Agreste hired you to spy on his son."
"What?" Adrien frowned. "He did wha─"
"How did you know that?" Lila abruptly asked. Her eyes widened. "I-I mean, how did you come up with such a ridiculous theory?"
"Wait a minute," Kim raised his arms. "If Adrien's known that Lila's a liar, why wouldn't he say anything?"
The model shrugged under their scrutiny. "I thought she deserved a second chance. I mean, Nathalie's always telling me to forgive my dad so I didn't think it should be any different with Lila."
There was a collective groan around the classroom and murmurings that equated to 'fuck Gabriel Agreste'.
"Uh-uh," Lila tried to look unimpressed. "You 'forgave' me. How about you also tell them about how you threatened me, Adrien?"
"Threa─" a look of understanding crossed Adrien's face.
Marinette scoffed. She's had enough of this.
"That is it, Lila!" Marinette grabs her wrist, standing up straight and holding her in a grip that only Ladybug could maintain. "I'm so done with your lies. You've been lying since you've gotten here and have been struggling to keep your cover ever since I─Ladybug called you out! Nobody believes you! Maybe they might've, but since you just told the dumbest lie ever, there's no way that anyone would buy your bullshit!"
"Ooooh," Alix and Kim said. It was vaguely disturbing.
"Why doesn't somebody go and get Mssr. Damocles?" Alya suggests. "I'd like to report her for bullying and framing Marinette."
"No need," Mlle. Bustier said, striding into the room. She looks furious. "Lila, get your stuff. You and I are taking a trip to the office."
Marinette watched Lila's expression shift. She went through the five stages in seconds─denial, anger, bargaining, depression and eventually acceptance. Or maybe that was the actor in her gearing up for the performance of a lifetime. It'd take a miracle for her to not get expelled after how Alya exposed her.
Marinette embraced Alya. She couldn't believe that it finally happened.
And all it took was for Lila to lie about Adrien threatening her. What bullshit.
Adrien had no idea how to tell people that he kind of did threaten Lila. Whoops. Maybe he'll just keep it a secret for now.
First, he needs Nino's help with reading Alya's latest articles.
In what way was his father abusive?
Somebody get this boy therapy, I'm begging you.
This oneshot was rushed, but the entire point of it was to get me back into writing. I've been swamped with school so I haven't had the chance to write anything in a few months, but I'll try to get back into a routine soon. No promises.
In other news, I've managed to finish, like, fifty shows despite my WB. I got through Hannibal, which is so fucking gay it's sad. I'm kinda glad they didn't kiss, though. It would've been too obvious from a storytelling POV. Ah, I loved it though. Also, I was right, FATWS was amazing.
I'm loving season 4 right now. You can tell that they're really trying to adapt for the older audiences. Can't wait for the next episode. What do you guys think of Zoe? I mean, we don't really know much about her yet (apart from her being Chloé's sister and the new Bee Miraculous holder). I really hope that people don't hate her just because she feels like a replacement to Chloé─and I also hope that that's not the screenwriter's intent with her existence.
