The Hase Jäger Chapter 1

Labyrinth City Orario: Dungeon: Fifth Floor

Mid Day

Third Person: Omni

"Why!?" Ahead of snow-white hair is blown swiftly by the air rushing past the running teen. A panicked expression is plastered onto this face as he runs through the cavernous halls. His rabbit-like movements are guided by the frantic gaze of his red eyes. Even with all the training he had, he was far from outrunning the thing chasing him with his usually silent footsteps.

"Keep your steps silent to keep prey from hearing your approach, and pursuers from following you. And the gods' sake, keep your breathing controlled, otherwise it is all for waste." The memory of advice from his teacher flashes through his head as he ran for his life. Though it was kind of going to waste as his adrenalin pumps through his veins.

'Roar' The deep bellowing roar signaled the even faster closing of the gap that the young man tried to keep between them. Turning around another corner with the greenish jacket on his frame fluttering behind him revealed that the path he took lead to a dead-end of rock. He slid down it after reaching it, looking at the pursuer breaking through a wall in its way as it stalks closer.

"Pant Pant" He stares up from the ground at the monster infront of him, peaking from behind the sleeved arms raised infront of his face. A terrified expression on his face as he stares at the being far taller than any man with the head of a bull glaring at the young teenager with its blazing red eyes as it runs towards it. In its primitive mind, the feeling of what can only be called annoyance from running after its prey reflected in the eyes. Its laborious breathing came out white, showcasing the exact reason why it was stuck to that emotion.

"Hide yourself with the background, though with things that rely on smell, there ain't much you can do to stalk them. And cover your hair with something, it's like a walking sign pointing out that you are there to prey and predator alike." Not like it had any use to him now that he was cowering in fear in plain sight.

Crack, Crack, Shing. When finally coming into range, instead of doing what would be considered any sense of hunting, it decided to just punch the wall just to make the kid fear it more. Though it only took two hits to it before a something interrupted it, a slash from a sword.

'Whine, Growl' Shiiiing, Shing Blood splashed from its relatively shallow cut to the back. Deciding the annoyance was far less important when compared to the sharp pain to its back, it turns to punch whatever took a slash to its back. A flash of blond hair and silver had a sword cut into the swinging arm twice, once along the ulna and the other at the bicep.

'Whine' Shing "Ah!"When it decided to retaliate with its good arm with a punch, the savior was quick to slash into the torso of the minotaur's right. The attack stunned the monster, though it caused its weight to shift backward, right onto the young lad that it marked as its prey just a few moments earlier.

It was only another moment before a spurt of blood came from the downed figure, a few inches from the boy's face, as she stabbed into it. Not wasting any movement, she jumped up, almost bisecting the bull-headed monster and spraying a large amount of blood around, specifically, covering the youth behind it.

Shick, Crash, Fwapooof The young woman landed with a high amount of grace, her long blond hair moving about as she flicked the blood off her blade. Not even a moment too soon, the two halves of the dungeon monster fell to the ground on her cue before it burst into black motes and embers. It all dissipated as a blue crystal drops from where its heart was and hits the ground.

"Hey. Are you alright?" Her voice was emotionless, and the gold eyes were lukewarm as she addressed the blood-covered beginner. A white and black cloth was peeking behind the armor that revealed and protected her at the same time. Her blue thigh length boots clack on the ground as she took a few steps towards him. But he didn't answer her, he was already entranced by her beauty and the actions prior. Without an answer, she tilted her head in confusion, though it was quite cute to any observers.

"Sorry, I have to go." He suddenly stands up with a blush on his face before running past her, though it reminded her of a startled rabbit as she gazed at the running back of his figure. Taking out a cloth to clean his face and hair with comfortable ease.

"Clean off blood quickly, animals have sharp senses and blood is incredibly pungent. Its scent can stick to you stubbornly, along with being stubborn itself when it congeals on you. Prey flee and carnivores will attack, thinking that you are easy prey." The only piece of advice that he could put into actual practice was what came to mind as he ran back to the surface.

"Look for well-worn areas, those are paths back to civilization… though your own footprints are best-kept track of to return to where you were." Another nugget of advice placed itself on his mind as he follows the hoof prints of the minotaur to the well-traveled footpaths to the surface subconsciously.

_(DanMachi)_

A Few Minutes Later

"Oi, do you think something is wrong with him?"

"I'd say something is wrong with his head."

Conversations pass as he runs through the streets towards his destination. His quick foot being quite the advantage as he moves while ignoring the pointed words concerning him from both pedestrians and stall workers alike.

"Miss Erina!" His young voice calls out after seeing the large building that is his target. Happening to come out of the building at the same time while holding a stack of paper, a young woman clad in a uniform consisting of black pants and a vest with a white undershirt. A grey bow tie on her collar leads to her glasses covered face just under her brown hair cut into a bob style. Pointed ears keep the glasses up.

"Bell! Eeek!" She looks up with her bright green eyes to greet her charge, before being startled at the sight of a blood-covered young man running through the streets towards her workplace. She throws her arms up, and along with them the manila folders containing documents, due to the sight.

"Can you please tell me what you can about Ais Wallstein!" He hollers at the top of his lungs as he waves his hand in the air. Flicking the specks of blood onto the ground as he does so.

Guild Building: Meeting Box

"We both know that you know not to just rush down the fifth floor." Sitting across one another is the sharply dressed half-elf and the freshly cleaned human on a pair of green couches. A disappointed look on her face when her eyes were closed, but opening when actually speaking to him. And along with the last nails in the coffin, her tone of voice, and the crossed arms. Though to be fair, he is pointing his face at the floor while leaning forward, keeping his eyes closed.

"It is dangerous enough to go into the dungeon without a party, you shouldn't compound the risk by rushing past where your abilities allow." His equipment sits on the rest of the couch to his right, a breastplate (Guild issued), the jacket, a sheathed knife (Also guild issued), a backpack, and an assortment of pouches.

"An adventurer should not be too adventurous after all." "Don't bite off more than you can chew, and definitely don't bite into what you don't know." As if to compound the disappointment that is laid onto him, after she finished with her sentence his master's advice chimed in.

"Sorry." With the weight of the statement from his guild advisor, he slumps forward even deeper. His arms not even resting on his thighs. White hair and the white towel that he rests on his neck move slightly due to the motion. Though after the reprimand, she smiles lightly.

"Bell, you are amazingly lucky. Surviving a minotaur attack is quite unusual for a level 1 beginner adventurer who has only two weeks of being in the dungeon." She remarks as her posture straightens out due to sitting upright once again. The smile becoming warmer compared to before, though he could only hear it and not see due to his closed eyes.

"In all, I am just relieved and glad to see you safe… just be more careful next time." She flicks his nose to get him to look at her before saying anything. Though she had to lean in once again, this time closer, to be able to do so.

"And try not to run through the streets covered in blood, okay?." Her voice is now far more good-natured when compared to the lecture that she was giving him. Her smile quite visible as she was directly in his face.

"Yeah." He replies with a smile on his face, nodding while doing so. A smile once again on his face. Then the thought about the question that was on his mind from the dungeon to the run over hit his mind. A blush floods across his face before his looks down… though not quite to the fidgeting stage one would expect.

"So… about that information about Miss Aiz…" His eyes and upper part of the face were covered by his snow-white locks. Though his quickened up mouth and the blood rushed skin on his neck were dead giveaways.

"Hmmm… Don't tell me that you have fallen in love with Miss Wallstein?" Her voice now teasing, and the facial expression going along with it. Her eyes half-lidded would have been another indicator to the young man… but he could not see what her coworkers saw from the counter due to facing the ground.

"Well, um…." His lackluster reply was all that he could get out before her next question.

"You have, haven't you?" Her originally crossed arms shifted so only the left arm was being over the chest, while the right had the index finger pointed up, resting on her cheek. With her eyes being closed once again.

"Yeah!" All he could do was reply with that, and with all the emotion that was plaguing his mind at that moment coming forth in that single word. Though that was enough entertainment for now to the employees and specifically for the brown-haired partial elf. Her expression turns serious as she faced towards the left, recalling the common information about the beginner's savior.

"Hmmm, Aiz Wallenstein, If I remember correctly, she is currently a Level 5 adventurer of the Loki Familia. Nicknamed Sword Princess by the gods due to being one of the best swords users." She remarks with information well known to anyone how has spent more than a few days at the dungeon city.

"What are some of her hobbies?" He remarks though it was probably a bit of a reckless question to ask. Anything known by the general populace about things they like is either false or not that dear to them.

"Though she doesn't have any rumors about having a significant other." Immediately picking up on the unasked question that hey lay before her… and the one that she could understand fairly well. Her glasses then catch the light as she faces back towards him, hiding her eyes from view.

"But in all reality, it would be unlikely that she would return those feelings." And that put a damper on any thoughts of pursuing her interests at the moment… though if anything that he learned as a hunter, become better at what he is and he will reach that goal.

"It's hard for you, a Hestia Familia child to get to know the leader of the Loki Familia for multiple reasons besides the regular inter Familia issues." She remarks as they stand and walk, giving out the main reason why she thought that.

"No use in acting glum, go, and trade in your magic stones that you earned today." She states as they reach the exchange desk. The pair of footsteps they make being just another sound in the bustling town as it reaches the hours of the setting sun.

"That will be 1200 Vials." The man behind the counter takes the three dull and small magic cores that Bell dropped into the drawer and replaced it with the three coins of currency. Bell thanked the man behind the station before turning to the main entrance and exit.

"Bell, girls like strong men who can protect them… and you can get strong enough to do so if you work hard enough. She could like you back." She remarks to the young man passing by her to the door. Brightening up the expression on his face and solidifying something in his heart.

"Thanks for all the help! I love you Eina!" He yells out, his body movements now filled with energy. The loud voice got a chuckle out of the bystanders. Straightened up in surprise as the other adventures remarked about him.

"Maybe I was a bit too nice." She remarks to herself with a chuckle as he races out the door. The setting sun still in full view as the majority of adventures still haven't come in yet.

Streets of Orario

"Bell, adventurers need to pick up their girls from the dungeon. Saving a lass in trouble and getting to know her on the basis of her being grateful. That is the most beloved part of being an Adventurer." The advice and thought process from his grandfather comes to his mind as he runs down the street.

"It is like how my late grandfather told me… albeit switched around" 'Caw' A large bird flies over to him… and the cry that it makes upon seeing the young lad was extremely familiar, causing Bell to look up at the eagle with a pouch tied to it flying down to him. He already stopped at some steps as it flew towards his front, due to the buildings behind him.

"Khutulun, what are you doing here?" The golden eagle finally landed on his outstretched arm. Folding up her wings and showcasing the package strapped to her right claw but not after giving him an unamused look.

"Alright then, let's see what master sent with you. You forgot to grab the set when you rushed over to the labyrinth city. I sent Khutulun after you with one of the throwing knives and a mission to look after you. I am sending another person with the rest of the case. After receiving the knife and feeding Khutulun, send her off so that she can lead the courier." He looks over the eagle who is now stretching her left leg that was strapped with a sheath.

"Well, let's head home first and wait for morning till I send you off." He remarks while taking a piece of jerky from one of the pouches. Always keep some food on you, even a strip of jerky and water can help you survive till you hunt something else to eat.

Forest Town: Tharem

A Month Earlier Earlier

"And that should be the last things in the set." A young man with black hair and brown eyes looks over at the table of things. A set of six throwing knives, a recurve bow, and quiver of arrows, two hunting knives, a knife kit for eating, a brown hooded cloak, a green hooded cloak, a set of arrowheads, a box of jerky, and finally, a backpack to store all of it inside.

"Wonder when he will arrive." He remarks as he was packing away the kit efficiently. Up until the door was slammed open by a woman in standard maid uniform.

"Master, Bell has already left a few days ago." She remarks with a slight out of breath voice, addressing the rich hunter.

"The idiot already left huh… welp, better see if she is up for playing courier." He sighs at the reckless actions of youth.

A few minutes later

"Well, your in good enough shape to travel right?" He addresses the cloaked figure infront of him. They nod at the question. He just shakes his head at the non-verbal response. It has been months since they were woken up and recovering.

"Well, I got a task for you if you want to head to Orario. Watching over a person and bringing this kit to them." They shrug before giving a nod. He whistles, causing the golden eagle to fly onto his outstretched arm.

"Send her out after reaching a week from Orario." He remarks as he gives another set to her.

"That is for you… I know that you are going into the dungeon… Just make sure to join a Familia before diving in." They smile lightly as they remove their hod to nod at them. Long black hair reaching down to her shoulder blades was all that could be seen before fading to black.
