Chandler sat in the study working on a new advertising campaign for work when he noticed the door cracked open. He put his pen down and waited for whichever child opened the door to walk in. It took a few seconds before Erica poked her head in nervously. "Hi Erica," Chandler smiled watching his little five-year-old walk to his desk with her hands behind her back.
"Hi Daddy," she said sweetly. Erica looked up at him with puppy eyes before she said anything else which Chandler knew meant she wanted something. "My birthday is soon," she pointed out.
Chandler gasped softly leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms as he looked up in thought. "That can't be right. I remember your birthday was last year."
Erica giggled moving to his side of the desk. "Daddy my birthday is every year" she smiled.
He smiled, picking her up and putting her on his lap. "Well, what are we going to do about your birthday this year sweetheart?"
"I wanna have a party!" she smiled. "I wanna have it at a trampoline park like my friend from school Elliot did. And I want presents and cake" she giggled.
He nodded, writing her words down on a notepad. "Got it. We can have a party for you and your brother okay? Is that all you wanted to ask me?" he asked, confused. She didn't need to ask for a party; they were already planning one for the twins. Chandler watched as his daughter became nervous again looking down at her lap.
"For my birthday...I was wondering if I could get the princess Cinderella dream house" she asked softly with a small pout she knew her Dad couldn't say no to.
Chandler sighed watching his daughter look at him with her puppy eyes. She's asked for this dollhouse before and Monica told her it was too expensive, but he had a hard time saying no to her. "How about this. If on your birthday you open a present and it's the dream house...you don't tell your mother it's from me. Deal?"
Erica nodded happily "deal!" She wrapped her arms around his neck and he hugged her back kissing her temple. "I love you Daddy!" she giggled, moving down off his lap and running to the office door.
"I love you too sweetheart" he replied before she left the room to play with her brother.
The twins sat at the end of the long table together after cake. Their friends from school begged them to open gifts. Jack started and got a Batman action figure from Ross which he loved. Erica got a Hulk action figure from Joey and she immediately used it to beat up Jack's Batman. They argued amongst each other about which hero was better before Monica stepped in and got them back into opening the rest of their gifts. Erica opened the biggest gift she could find that had her name on it, ripping the paper and seeing her new Cinderella dream house just like her Dad promised.
Monica instantly shot Chandler a glare for going behind her back on an expensive gift. She pinched his arm making him flinch.
"What was that for?" he pouted, playing innocent.
"For getting our daughter a 200 dollar dollhouse after I told her no" she forced a smile.
"How do you know I got it for her?" he questioned. "Maybe it was someone else."
Erica quickly ran up to her father crashing into his legs as she hugged him. "Thank you thank you thank you daddy!" she smiled in pure excitement. "This is the bestest birthday ever!"
Monica chuckled seeing Chandler's guilt-ridden face. Shaking her head at the horribly kept secret.
Chandler picked her up and held her on his hip. "Did you hear that momma? Bestest birthday ever" Chandler smiled at his wife hoping she wasn't too mad.
Monica rolled her eyes at him "I'm glad you got your birthday wish sweetheart" she smiled at Erica.
"Cause Daddy is the bestest daddy ever" Erica wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder holding onto him.
