The Hase Jäger Chapter 6
Ganesha's Estate
Evening
Third Person: Omni
Despite still being within Orario, Ganesha's estate was quite extensive within the city walls. It was huge, with a campus far larger than even the guild's premises. Though it was the perks that came from being a large guild that had a huge fighting force.
"Everyone, thank you for coming! I am Ganesha!" The boisterous voice of the host filled the room that the party was taking place. They were currently within the most prestigious building… which was made in the shape of him with his arms crossed and sitting in a lotus position.
"I am so happy that so many of you could attend tonight's party!" The man of the hour was standing infront of a fountain of an elephant as he spoke on the first floor of the hall. Despite not being able to see his eyes from under his half elephant mask, one could see the sparkling teeth from his grin.
When compared to the formal suits and dresses of the other gods, Ganesha was quite unique in how he dressed, sticking out amongst the crowd of party-goers, laughing all the while.
"How many centuries has it been?"
"About four days."
"Oh, look at that poor fellow over there."
"That must be Takemikizuchi."
"Hermes as well huh."
"So he got back from his journey for this."
The various conversations between the gods lived the party up. Making it mirror human parties long before this one. It was through the influence of their mortal familias, and the atmosphere that Ganesha fostered as the main entertainment familia in Orario.
From conversations on high-grade couches with wine and good food to the interactions at the food tables, the gods had quite a bit of entertainment. Such as a set of gods commenting on the interactions of a pair of gods at the food table.
A man of eastern decent piled his plate high with food, and even more, provisions were in his hands. A vivacious young man with golden brown hair laughed while pointing directly at him. With wine in their hands, the commenting group quickly switched their attention to a far better treat for their eyes.
A goddess taking the form of a young woman walked down the stairway and onto the main floor of the procession. Her silver hair gently swayed to her unconscious movement, framing her gorgeous face set in a Mona Lisa style. Her white cocktail dress was cut daringly, showing off a huge amount of cleavage.
"She's here. The goddess of beauty…"
"Freya~!"
All of the group sighed out as they looked upon the woman who adorned white flowers in her hair and purple ornaments on her neck. As she walked down with her attendants, many of the gods were captivated by the front-line goddess.
"Oho…" She opened her eyes to look across the crowd of gods and goddesses. Her violet eyes glint with a hidden intention as she instantly spots a lone goddess at the food table.
She immediately heads for the food tables, not even paying a glance to the love-struck individuals. Each step filled with the grace of waltzing with death for many years.
Hestia tried to hide from sight while putting food into a box that she brought with her. Despite how embarrassing it is to do so, she did it anyway, caring far more for Bell than what little reputation she had. There was a reason why many gods had not even bothered coming close to her.
"Good evening Hestia." With a smile that was not quite genuine and eyes that glinted in the warm lights, Freya greeted the poverty-stricken goddess. Her gaze held far more thoughts behind a frosted and warm facade than ever as she looked directly at the hearth keeper.
"Freya…" Hestia paused in her actions as she glanced at the primer frontline goddess. She was placing a lid atop another container to take back when Freya had greeted her. The goddess that was kneeling below the table quickly straightened herself and finished the bun that was held by her teeth.
"I just don't like having anything to do with you," Hestia said with a sigh as the violet eyes of the taller woman glinted in the light. The smile on her face was still pure as Hestia looked at her with suspicion. A light laugh at the statement made by Hestia had Freya closing her eyes as she leaned he head back.
It was some kind of instinct to Hestia, whenever the lady of war took a look at her, it always tensed the goddess of the hearth up. She always felt something deep in her eyes, though the feeling slightly changed when Bell had become her familia.
"And that is what I like about you." Freya looked down at the more demure statured goddess, who was still chewing on the bun from earlier. Freya's eye's sparkled slightly as she spoke.
"Well, I like you more than others..." Hestia could not help letting out a sigh as she spoke. Freya chuckled a little at the statement as Hestia looked to the stairs. Freya tilted her head slightly to see another lady in a dress running down the stairs.
"HEY, FREYA." The loud greeting from the stairs was only heard due to her rather loud yelling, though none of the gods paid any mind to it as it was such a regular event.
"And shrimp." She was already by their sides and greeting Hestia when she finished her greeting to the goddess of beauty. A gust of wind arrived after all of the words came out of her mouth, causing the long hair of the goddesses to sway slightly.
"Oho, Loki." Freya just greeted the orange-haired goddess as the light gale faded away. Standing infront of them was a lanky lass in a black champagne dress. Her hair was styled into a large bun, kept in place with a priceless golden circlet.
"What are you doing here?" Hestia already knew the answer to the question without even needing to ask, but asked the taller goddess anyway. Sometimes she really hated benign so short when compared to the others, but in those times, being reminded that she is shorter than Bell had quite the upside to being short.
"What, am I not allowed to come here without a reason?" Loki's perpetually closed eyes did not diminish any of the smugness of her expression, in fact, the lack of eyes filled with emotion and calculation enhanced the feeling.
"Ahem… Anyway, this is perfect timing." Hestia could only cough into her hand, the regular verbal matches were par for course, yet the feeling of defeat in speaking to Loki never faded.
"Hah? You wanted to ask me something, chibi?" Loki bowed down slightly so that Hestia would be able to see her face properly, much to the annoyance of the shorter goddess in question.
"Yeah, about the Sword Princess, Whallenwhastit… is she seeing anyone right now?" Hestia asked after getting her expression under control, it is something that interested her far more than anything else.
"Idiot, Aiz is my favorite. If anybody were after her, I would tear them apart." The atmosphere around the two became tense at the question of the hearth goddess, Loki's eyes opened, revealing the yellow pair beneath the perpetually closed eyes. Her possessiveness of Aiz reached its maximum.
"My, you two are such good friends," Freya said with a delighted tone, the argument had dissolved into the two of them pushing their foreheads into one another as they tried to push one another off their feet. Hand on the cheek and a smiling expression with closed eyes left only an indescribable aura around her.
"We are not!" Both of them said as one, the other patrons of the party slowly gathered around the spectacle of two goddesses physically against one another, already knowing what the end result would be due to just how many times the pair had come to this stage.
"Anyway, though it might be a bit late, you look different than usual today Loki. I haven't seen you in that number for ages." Freya skillfully disabled the current conflict by pointing out a piece of pride for the trickster goddess. Quickly, Loki straightened up so that she would be able to speak face to face with the silver-haired goddess, in the process, causing Hestia to fall to the ground.
"I guess so. I heard about a certain chibi coming to the banquet, so I decided to come laugh at the poor god whos can't even buy a dress." Loki looked at the grounded Hestia with a smug smile once more on her face.
Hestia did not care about what the other gods thought about her current impoverished state, nor about the embarrassment that she was among the newer gods. None of that mattered to her anymore now that she had Bell in her familia, and she would suffer through worse if she had to.
"That's hilarious… You came to laugh at me, when everyone is laughing at you?" That did not mean she would take the provocation lying down however, in fact, it meant that she would have to fight with the big dogs once more.
"What's with your utterly sad…" Hestia paused her statement for dramatic effect, but everyone around them already knew what she was going to say. Though the next word still had a huge impact on the red-haired goddess.
"Breasts!" In the mind of Loki, the statement rang out, silencing all other noises around her at once as Hestia laughed, causing her own bountiful fields to bounce up and down.
Tower Of Babel: Floor 1
Bell paused his steps to look around the floor filled with multitudes of adventures. Despite not being the peak hours of when adventurers decided to descend the tower, today had a strangely large amount of them.
"They all have good equipment," Bell muttered to himself as the adventurers pass. Barely any of the equipment he saw was shining new, most of them had many imperfections from fighting monsters and saving the wielder's life.
"But none of them are like master's huh…" Bell was not overwhelmed by the high-quality equipment that the combat families held, in fact, everyone that held his sight was nothing when compared to his master's equipment.
Forest Town: Tharem
Several Years Prior: Night
"Master, what are those?" A child Bell asked while looking at his teacher. It was currently night in the town, causing the place to be lit by several magic stones glowing a soft red. While there was a constant supply from the Labyrinth City, it was still extremely expensive in either Vals or time. Especially since the city is growing ever larger by the day as new adventurers and their cohorts settle down beside the dungeon.
The child gestured to a mannequin garbed in a cloak that obscured the items underneath. Unstrung on the wall was a beautiful bow with a silver thread tied to one of the ends. A set of knives on a belt hung below the main weapon, a spear with a metallic shaft leaned on the wall. The weapons were mysterious as the lights flickered and revealed runes upon the tools of his trade.
The leather of the belt had many engraving upon it, some that Bell could barely understand, and others that were extremely outside of the scope of his knowledge. It was the same with the bow, it has inlays of a white metal that made up the runes. The spear was a bit special as the runes were paved in gold upon the silver background of the metallic head and shaft.
"Eh, that's hunting gear." The master in question reclined on his couch, tomorrow there would be no lessons besides the regular training, so he could stand to let Bell do this. His short black hair was messy from being under the hood for so long. His warm brown eyes were highlighted by the stones colored like a flickering flame.
He wore simple clothes, a forest green dress shirt with the top few buttons opened up, and a set of black pants made from a strange fabric. There was a leather-bound tome in his hand, written with strange words within that went over the small-town boy's head. A pair of slim glasses were perched on his nose.
"But why do you never use it to hunt?" He had never seen the man use any of the articles when teaching him the many tools of the trade. It was always a simple leather set of gears along with the most basic of bows.
"They are to hunt true monsters..." Bell only ever saw the glint in his master's eyes once. It was when he was talking about the monster that took Idaea's (his maid) parents away. It was that predatory glint that Bell had seen in the mirror of a lake when he was on a particularly difficult hunt.
"But, I may as well teach you how to distinguish high and low-quality weapons later." The teacher added another thing to the list that Bell had to learn, it would do him good later if had ever decided to become an adventurer. It would also help keep swindlers and unknowing merchants at bay.
Dungeon City Oririo: Dungeon 1st Floor
Bell took another glance at the blade his master sent. It would be another day before the other would arrive in his hands. Even without it being unsheathed, one could tell it was of incredible make. It was definitely not something made by the town's blacksmith.
He could easily imagine it in his mind, despite forgetting it in his journey, it was a tool that he was intimately familiar with. From the beautiful sheen of a blueish metal to the ornately wrapped leather grip. It was practically a work of art. Yet, it felt incredibly old from the way that his master spoke of it.
He still remembered the first time he looked upon it and noticed the strange makers mark upon the spine of the blade. A simple forging hammer atop an anvil shrouded by flames. It was definitely not the symbol of the resident blacksmith.
"Don't worry, we will get to work." After all those thoughts, Bell mumbled to himself while patting the blades. His master always said to treat your equipment like a lover, and it, in turn, will save you when you need it most. He almost talked as if all of the weapons were alive.
Bell shook his head to sure up his determination, once more walking down the steps to the first floor, already thinking about catching up to the princess in his heart. Along with the wave of other adventures moving out, it made him just part of the crowd of people risking their lives.
