AN: Ok my lovelies so a lot has happened since my last update. I had a birthday in March, recently took on a job opportunity that was offered to me, and well now all this scary news about this virus going on. I hope everyone of you is safe and well. It certainly has been crazy here in my town. Anyway with this scary situation I figured I could hopefully cheer a few people up with some updates. So moving on, here is the next chapter!
"Turtwig use tackle!" a boy that had short neat purple hair and dark blue almost black eyes yelled a grin on his tan face. A younger girl with blue hair and onyx eyes beamed
"Chimchar doge and use ember!" the girl yelled giggling.
"Ryuu, Kairi what are you doing?" A tall man with shoulder length purple hair and dark onyx eyes asked.
"We're having a Pokemon battle! Just like you dad!" Ryuu said, smiling up at the man. The man looked down at the stuffed Turtwig and Chimchar that sat in the grass. A smirk formed on the man's face as he squatted to be at eye length with the boy and girl.
"How would you like to use real Pokemon?" he asked them with his smirk still in place. Ryuu's eyes lit up and he nodded.
"Kairi! Kairi! Dad's gonna let us use real Pokemon!" Ryuu yelled lifting Kairi up and swinging her around causing her to erupt in a fit of giggles. A woman with long blue hair walked up to the three with a small toddler with short blue hair in tiny pigtails attached to her side.
"Paul.." She said in warning her pale doll-like face contorted in worry as her blue eyes met his onyx eyes.
"Dawn I'll be with them the whole time don't worry" Paul said gazing at the young woman. Dawn sighed and let a reluctant smile form on her lips before nodding her head.
"Alright, but you three don't stay out here battling too long dinner is almost ready." She said. Just as she was ready to leave the toddler in her arms squirmed reaching out for Paul.
"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" Dawn let out a sigh before handing the small child to Paul.
"You've managed to take all three from me" Dawn said with a pout. Paul had a proud smirk on his face.
"You deserve the break go finish dinner I've got them" Paul said cradling the toddler in his arms and walking over to his two older children. Dawn smiled softly as she watched Paul with their three children a moment longer before heading inside to finish up their dinner. Paul glanced at Ryuu and Kairi. Eagerness was sparkling in their eyes causing Paul to smirk. Paul released his Pokemon. His Pokemon looked at him alert and ready to take orders but when they glanced at the eager Kairi and Ryuu their demeanor changed to happiness. Paul knew that his Pokemon adored his children just as much as Dawn and himself loved them.
"Torterra! I choose you buddy" Ryuu ran to the continent Pokemon with glee hugging the large turtle Pokemon. Kairi smiled and ran hugging each Pokemon happily then stopped at Paul's Froslass.
"Froslass can you be my partner?" Kairi asked, smiling as the ice Pokemon twirled around her in glee.
"Remember to follow whatever they order you to." Paul spoke to the two Pokemon who nodded their understanding and followed Kairi and Ryuu to the field.
'Man why can't everything be as simple as it was before Ryuu went on his journey'
"Kairi!" Jennifer yelled snapping me out of my thoughts.
"What?" I snapped irritated from her yelling.
"Have you really been that lost in thought? We are here" She snapped rolling her eyes. I looked around and sure enough we were in a city I assumed was Hearthome
"Paulie!" a shrill voice yelled.
"Oh no.." Mom and I grumbled and in came Cecilia. Jennifer and Daniel looked amused while Mira, mom, dad and I all had scowls on our faces.
"I see you're still with the band of losers" Cecilia said with a huff and flipped her platinum blond hair over her exposed shoulder. She was wearing a red frilly off the shoulder crop top that showed her toned stomach and white shorts with a tan belt around her hips with black open toed wedges.
"Good to see you too Cecilia" mom said with a sneer. Cecilia turned to her and smirked eyeing mom up from head to toe.
"Paulie honestly what do you see in her she's not even that pretty" Cecilia said smirking
"Listen here you little.." Mom started but dad placed his hand on her shoulder and shook his head. He then glanced at Cecilia with a glare.
"Look, I told you I wasn't interested and I really don't care how you're insulting my friends. Dawn is a far more beautiful person than you could ever hope to be. now get lost before you make me even more angry" dad snapped. Cecilia was red to the face and screeched in anger as she stomped away
"Bye now" Jennifer said, waving sadistically at Cecilia causing the girl to screech even more in anger while stomping like an angry Nidoqueen.
"Anyway.." Dad coughed awkwardly, not meeting mom's gaze which was probably for the better, she was as red as a tomato berry.
"Let's go" I spoke up. We all walked in silence as we made our way to The Pokemon Center. Once there dad checked us in and handed Daniel a room key that he would share with Jennifer while mom, dad, Mira and I would have our room.
"Well Daniel and I are gonna head to our room to unpack and freshen up" Jennifer said with a wave not giving anyone time to answer her as she dragged him away.
"We should do the same" Mom spoke up. Dad nodded and we all headed to our room.
Ryuu's POV
"YOU GUYS GET OUT OF HERE BROCK AND I WILL HANDLE THIS" Ash yelled as Brock stood at his side glaring at Team Galactic. We had been walking for the majority of the day until we got a surprise attack from Team Galactic. We were extremely outnumbered compared to before But Ash, Brock and Ace stood together ready to battle while the rest of us took off while we could. I grabbed a hold of Sayuri's hand and pulled her along. In the chaos we all had split up in different directions in pairs. Sayuri and I were running till an Absol dropped in front of us growling and a cloaked figure stood in front of us. We turned to run the other way but were trapped by a Luxray who was also growling at us. I reached for a pokeball ready to grasp it but Luxray tackled Sayuri baring its fangs at her.
"Now, Now, I wouldn't do that if I were you" A feminine voice sneered. I glared at the cloaked figure putting it together that the figure was a woman.
"What do you want from us?" I snapped. The woman laughed
"If you willingly come with us, I'll let your little friends go" The woman said I glanced at Sayuri and sighed.
"Fine."
"Ryuu No!" Sayuri yelled but shut up once Luxray started growling at her again.
"I'll go with you but you have to promise that nothing will happen to them" I said without meeting Sayuri's eyes. The woman nodded and tied my hands behind my back.
"Luxray, Absol, Come." The woman snapped and started pushing me away. I finally met Sayuri's eyes and watched as she stood tears running down her cheeks too scared to try anything. Once we got to their ship I was shoved into a cage with Ash and Brock.
"Where's Sayuri" Ash asked I looked up at him
"I sacrificed myself so that she and the others could get away" I muttered and sat in the corner of the cage not wanting to talk any more.
Sayuri's POV
I wiped the tears from my face and took a shaky breath before beginning my search for the others. We all eventually found each other and no one said a word for a long time.
"We need to keep moving, we aren't safe out here and we need to figure a way to save Ash, Brock, and Ryuu." Ren said Everyone just silently nodded and followed Ren's lead. I lingered behind trying to keep the tears at bay.
"Hey…" Cassia said, placing a hand on my shoulder I sniffled and offered a small smile. She shook her head and hugged me
"Don't force yourself to smile Sayu. I know you're really hurting right now. Not only did they capture Ryuu they took your dad and Brock."
"It's my fault he was trying to protect me," I said sadly. I felt Cassia rub my back.
"No, it's not your fault. He did what he felt was needed to protect us all, remember we have a mission" Cassia said I nodded and she smiled and began to lead me to catch up to the group.
Dawn's POV
We were all settled in our rooms and I noticed that Kairi seemed off as she stared out the window
"Kairi?" I called out to her and placed my hand on her shoulder. She jumped and looked at me alarmed.
"Sorry you scared me." She mumbled and looked back out the window worriedly
"Kairi are you ok?" I asked her softly. She shook her head.
"I can't explain it but.. I just feel like something is wrong like really wrong and we need to be prepared for something coming." She said softly and moved to sit on her bed. Before I could say anything more, Paul and Mira came into the room.
Something about Mira gave off the same vibe that Kairi had.
"I think you both are still a bit shaken up from the first time Team Galactic attacked us." I said Paul looked up at me with curious eyes
"Are you girls alright?" He asked with concern. I looked at him surprised at the emotions he openly showed at the moment but shook off the surprise and looked at Kairi and Mira
"Yeah, maybe mom's right. We're probably just shaken up and on edge waiting for them to strike again" Kairi said softly. Mira was looking much more relaxed but, Kairi still seemed a bit off. I decided it was best not to pry. If she wanted to talk she would come to me on her own.
"Well, Let's all go get dinner now that we are all here." I said and stood up. Kairi slowly stood up and walked ahead of us.
"Mira why don't you go after her. We'll meet you there." Paul said. Mira nodded and ran out of the room to catch up to Kairi.
"Alright Dawn I've traveled with you long enough to know something is wrong. So what is bothering you" Paul asked stepping closer I wouldn't meet his piercing gaze but I knew he was watching me.
"I'm worried about Kairi, ever since we got here she's been acting off." I said softly
"I noticed it with Mira too" He said sighing
"Do you think it's really cause they are paranoid about Team Galactic?" I asked, finally meeting his eyes.
"Could be, could also be stress from wanting to save the future so badly." He said. I nodded and let out a sigh.
"Dawn, it'll be fine we are here for them no matter what happens. Now let's go catch up to them before something else happens." Paul said I laughed and nodded both of us walking together to the cafeteria area. We immediately found Kairi and Mira with their plates loaded with food. Paul lightly pushed me forward.
"I'll fix our plates. Go sit with the girls" He said. I stared at him questioningly
"Are you sure? I can get my own plate, it's fine" I said. He shook his head and walked off before I could argue further. I let out an agitated sigh and went to sit with Kairi and Mira. I glanced down at their meal and noticed they had a salad with spaghetti, and garlic bread on the side.
"Where's your food mommy? And where's daddy?" Mira asked nibbling on her garlic bread. Before I could answer a plate was placed in front of me and Paul sat beside me with his own place
"Hey! How come daddy isn't eating a salad" Mira said with a pout
"I didn't want one" Paul said in his usual monotone voice
"I didn't want one either but Kairi says I need to eat my veggies" Mira said with a pout.
"You do need to eat your veggies" Paul said twirling his fork to get some spaghetti. Mira huffed and crossed her arms.
"Paul go get a salad. You need to eat your veggies too" I said smiling playfully at him. He rolled his eyes but got up regardless and moments later came back with a salad. I smiled smugly at him noticing he was choosing to ignore me all together while silently eating. Mira smiled satisfied that everyone was now eating their veggies and continued her meal happily.
Cassia's POV
We ended up stopping for the night to set up camp. The girls and I were in charge of dinner while the boys were in charge of setting up the sleeping bags. I glanced over at Sayuri who was helping Rose with chopping veggies. Sayu still looked pretty upset and it worried me to no end.
"She'll be alright" Aurora said, placing the chopped meat into the pot with the noodles. Sarina nodded in agreement and began putting spices and different herbs in the pot.
"Sayu will definitely be fine, everyone just needs to stop babying her and she needs to grow up." Sarina said, rolling her eyes. I glared at Sarina.
"How could you even say that. You wouldn't be saying the same if Rai or your dad was taken! Oh wait...they already took your dad" I sneered.
"That's it!" Sarina yelled. My face whipped to the side from her hand connecting to my cheek. I glared at her. Her hand was still raised and her chest was rising and falling with her harsh breaths. I gave no time for her to react before tackling her to the ground and slapping her repeatedly both of us rolled around on the ground screaming and doing everything to land a hit on each other. I was suddenly ripped off of Sarina and thrashed around angrily.
"Calm down Cass. what in Arceus's name happened that you decided to start a fight when we all need to be on guard?" Ren snapped.
"She started it!" I sneered still thrashing about trying to get out of Ren's arms.
"Sarina what did you do?" Rai snapped at the equally thrashing girl in his arms.
"I just said the truth. Everyone is hovering over Sayuri and walking around eggshells to not upset her. She's a big girl she needs to toughen up otherwise she's useless." Sarina said. angrily. Sayuri stopped what she was doing and walked closer to Sarina
"How dare you. I have tried to be nice to you, I have tried to work with you without our personal issues getting in the way but you're just such a conceited brat. I had to lose my dad Twice! And not only that I was helpless as Ryuu sacrificed himself for us! I couldn't do anything! Do you have any idea how that makes me feel!" Sayuri snapped tears building up in her eyes as she yelled at Sarina.
"Alright that's enough we're all just tired and hungry so let's all finish dinner, eat, clean up, then get some sleep." Ben said stepping in and wrapping an arm around Sayuri.
"You think so horribly of me for having guys wanting me but what's your excuse!" Sarina yelled. I watched Sayuri pause and glance over her shoulder.
"The difference is I don't lead people on" She sneered and walked off with Ben. I felt Ren sigh as he slowly let me go.
"Let's finish dinner and eat the sooner we get to sleep the better." Ren said and walked off. I watched Rai not even bother letting go of Sarina as he threw her over his shoulder and walked off. Sarina was screaming the whole time about how she demanded that he put her down. I rolled my eyes and turned my gaze to Rose and Aurora who helped finish dinner and also helped serve it. We all ate in a tense silence. Sayuri didn't eat near us; she had moved further away from the table. Ben opted to stay with her just to be on the safe side. Once everyone was done Aurora and Rose offered to clean up while the rest of us went our separate ways to get ready for bed. Now everyone sat around on their sleeping bags silently the tension in the air was thick enough to stick a knife through.
"So. I'm gonna take first watch" Rai said
"No, I will" Ace said Rai shook his head.
"No you were battling Team Galactic with Ash and Brock you should rest. You too Ren" Rai said, already walking away before they could argue further. I crawled into my sleeping bag and attempted to sleep. Some time in the middle of the night I felt someone shake my shoulder and slowly opened my eyes to see Sayuri looking down at me.
"Sayu? What's wrong?" I asked quietly and slowly sat up.
"I..I can't sleep…" She whispered, looking down tears were in her usually warm brown eyes. But as I gazed into her eyes they looked lifeless and confused. I pulled her into my sleeping bag with me and hugged her close
"I got you now, Just try and sleep ok?" I whispered, rubbing her back. Sayu nodded and cuddled me like she had always done since we were children.
"Cass?" she mumbled sleepily. I could tell the back rub was lulling her to sleep.
"Hm?" I looked down at her, still rubbing her back.
"I'm glad you're my best friend" She mumbled.
"Me too Sayu. Me too now go to sleep" I said softly and noticed she was already out like a light. I rolled my eyes and smiled before slowly closing my eyes once more and letting sleep take me.
Paul's POV
We ate our dinner and retreated back to our rooms. Everyone had gotten ready for bed and crashed pretty quickly. I sat up and looked at the clock frowning. I could hear the hushed whispers of Mira and Kairi speaking.
"Hm? Mira what's wrong?" Kairi asked sleepily but concern was laced in her voice.
"I just had a bad dream," Mira mumbled.I glanced over to see what Kairi would respond with incase she fell asleep on her distressed sister. I relaxed when I noticed she nodded and pulled Mira closer to her letting her rest on her chest and lightly ran her fingers through her hair. She reminded me of Dawn whenever she was acting motherly toward Kairi and Mira.
"Go back to sleep. I'll chase away your nightmares" she said playfully. I watched silently as Mira instantly fell asleep and that was when Kairi fell asleep too. I climbed out of bed quietly and checked on Dawn who was asleep on the bottom bunk. Her face scrunched up as if she was having a bad dream. I hesitantly reached out and brushed her hair out of her face watching with amusement as her face changed to a small smile. And with a soft sigh she rolled over.
"Paul..Love...Too" She mumbled. I froze and gazed at her with wide eyes and quickly left the room. Torterra and I had been out training for a while by ourselves until I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Paul? Are you alright?" Dawn asked I wouldn't meet her gaze as I remember what I had heard her mumble in her sleep.
"I'm fine, Troublesome woman" I snapped and winced.
"I was only asking if you were ok you don't have to be snippy with me" She snapped
"And I said I was fine, Leave me alone" I snapped back instead of her leaving she wrapped her arms around me
"Paul, please talk to me" She whispered I let out a sigh
"It's really nothing, I just couldn't sleep and decided to train some alright," I said looking down at her. She wasn't fully convinced with my answer but she let it go and gently grasped my hand in hers.
"Come back to bed" She whispered looking up at me with her bright blue eyes. I slowly nodded and returned Torterra. She beamed a beautiful smile and continued to hold my hand as she led me back inside. We made it back to the room and I was about to climb back up to my bed but Dawn stopped me and kissed me on my cheek. I glanced at her trying to hold down a blush and cleared my throat.
"Goodnight Troublesome" I mumbled and quickly climbed up to my bed. I felt Dawn climb into her own bed.
"Goodnight Paul" she whispered. 'This is gonna be a long night..'
AN: I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did writing it! I have a lot in store! Lots more sappy moments. and like lemme just say I'm already fed up with Sarina and I literally made her the way she is. that's kinda bad isn't it to hate your own OC? oh well next update should be soon. hopefully i'll have it posted Monday or Tuesday of this week. on another note how would yall feel about an Avatar the last Air bender fic. though honestly I hardcore ship Zuco X Katara. and AangX Toph. but yea if enough request it I'll think of something :D love you all! stay safe and I'll see you next chapter!
