Daryl/Beth. 30 year old single dad Daryl of 5 year old Tanner meets 25 year old single mom Beth of 5 year old Tyler there first day at kindergarten and find the perfect family. Mature content. Don't own anything. No zombies. Just fluff.
Daryl cursed as he hung up the phone and yelled into the shop where his brother was.
"Hey, got to go. Tanner's school just called." He said and Merle chuckled as he slid out from under the car he was working on and pulled his cigarette out of his mouth.
"He ok?" Merle ask and Daryl shrugged.
"Got into a fight or something and there calling in the parents involved?" Daryl said and Merle busted out laughing.
"It's the first day and he's fighting already. He's a Dixon for sure little brother. I got this." He said and Daryl nodded and went out to his truck.
He knew something like this was bound to happen giving his son was raised by him and Merle. Daryl didn't even know he had a son until one day some one night stand he didn't really remember having knocked on his door with a week old crying baby and papers where she signed her rights away cause she didn't sign up to be no momma and left. He'd never heard from her again. Found out last year though the grape vine around town she died of a drug overdose but Daryl didn't care, he didn't need her anyways. Once he did a DNA test and Tanner was his he never thought twice about raising his son and giving him a better life then he and Merle ever had. Merle had surprised him too. He stepped up, got clean and helped him raise his son and Daryl was grateful. They had a good life now and people in town actually respected them instead of feared them or hated them. The Dixon name was a good thing now. He just hoped his son didn't get kicked out of school in kindergarten. That would be the talk of the town for sure.
When he got there he was giving the run down. Tanner his son and another boy saw an older kid pushing down a little girl that apparently was related to the other boy, his cousin or something and they came to her defense and tag teamed the older bully. He was waiting on the mom of the other boy right now but she was late.
"I'm so sorry. I got here as soon as I could." He heard and looked up to see the most beautiful women in his life. She was a small petite thing with long curly blonde hair and dressed in pink scrubs.
"Its fine Miss. Greene please have a seat." The teacher said and the women sat next to him as they brought in there crying sons. After telling the women he now knew as Beth what had happened she frowned and palmed her face.
"I'm so sorry. Tyler's a little protective of his cousin. I'm sure this man's son had nothing to do with it." Beth said and Daryl snorted then.
"I can promise ya anit no one forced my boy to do nothing. He knows men shouldn't hurt women and did what he thought was right by helping." Daryl told her and Beth looked at him with a small smile on his face.
"Well, since I saw the whole thing happen and I know the other boy is known for bullying and I'll be talking with his parents about maybe changing him to another school or getting him some help for his anger, were not going to punish your boys. But please enforce that fighting is not the answer. Next time they need to get a teacher before resulting to pushing and shoving and some colorful language." The teacher said and Daryl knew that was from his son. He heard enough cussing from him and Merle to know more words than this prudy teacher ever heard.
They both nodded.
"Now, Miss Greene. I know you're a single mom but maybe his father could talk with him about this." The teacher said and Daryl saw the women blush before standing, mad.
"He doesn't have a father Miss but I'll make sure to talk to my son. If that's all." Beth said and the teacher nodded and Beth motioned for her son to come and Daryl and Tanner followed, both boys talking rapidly to each other.
"Are you mad Momma?" the boy ask and Beth sighed before stopping in front of the school and bending down.
"No sweetie I'm not mad at you for sticking up for Julie. You both did the right thing by helping a girl that was being hurt by another boy. Just next time don't fight first. Don't need you being kicked out of Kindergarten." She said chuckling and Daryl snort too.
"Ok. I will. I'm sorry. I didn't want Julie to get hurt like Daddy hurt you." He said and Daryl saw Beth blush deep red and he knew the kid's father must have hurt his mom good for the boy to remember something like that and Daryl hated men that did that shit.
"Don't worry about that baby. His gone now." She told him before standing and Facing Daryl and his son.
"I'm sorry your son got in trouble because of all this." She said sweetly and Daryl swallowed the lump in his throat. She was so fucking pretty.
"Don't be. He's a Dixon. He'll get in trouble a lot in school if he's anything like me and my brother. Plus if I had found out he'd stood by and let some little girl get hurt and not helped I'd have been pissed." Daryl told her and she nodded.
"Well I'm sure your wife is waiting for you so we'll let you get back." She said and Daryl snorted and walked beside her to towards their cars.
"Anit got no women. Tanner's mom didn't want him and she abandoned him. Died a few years later of an overdose. It's just us." He said as he watched the boys walk together in front of them talking and laughing.
"I'm sorry to hear that." She said.
"Don't be. She was a bitch. Don't know what kinda life he'd have had if she'd stayed around. But I do the best I can." He said and Beth nodded.
"Well, I understand that. You're a good man to take on a child on your own. A lot of men wouldn't have bothered. My ex sure didn't want a kid. Anyways, I need to head home get dinner going." She said and the boys turned at the sound of food.
"Can they come eat please momma. Tanner wants to try your cooking. I told him all about how good it was. Please." He said and then little Tanner that was just as handsome as his daddy gave her a pouty please that made both Daryl and Beth laugh.
"Well, I'm a sucker for the pouty lip. You're both welcome if you don't have plans." She said and Daryl shrugged.
"Nope. No plans and I'm sure your cooking is better than anything I'm able to do." He said and she nodded laughing. It seem he didn't have the ability to say no to this women.
"Just follow us then. My apartments not far." She said and he nodded and followed behind her little white car with this truck listening to Tanner go on and on about his first, best and only friend Tyler.
She lived just a few blocks down from the school in an apartment that he'd seen driving through town before. It was clean on the inside and she had it decorated nicely. The boys went straight to Tyler's room to play some video game his grandfather Hershel got him and Daryl sat on the counter and watched after she told him she didn't need any help.
"You guys like spaghetti?" she ask and he nodded.
"Not much we won't eat darling. We don't turn down good home cooked food." He said sipping the beer she handed him. Laughing she nodded as he looked around at the pictures on the wall.
"Old man Hershel's your dad?" he ask and she nodded.
"You know him?" she ask and Daryl nodded.
"Yeah. Fixed his car last week and sometimes he brings us his farm equipment to fix when he can't. He's a good man." Daryl said and Beth nodded.
"Yes he is. I work at the Vet office he owns with him. Tyler and I moved back home last year after everything happened with his dad and got this apartment. Tyler loves going to daddy's farm. We normally go on the weekends. You should bring Tanner, there's tons for them to do and my parents love having kids over." Beth said and Daryl nodded.
"Yeah. Think he'd like that. He loves animals." Daryl said and Beth nodded.
Their conversation moved quickly and easily through dinner and after until it was dark and the kids were falling asleep. Daryl had never talked to a woman this much and he can't even remember the last time he was with one. He could count on one hand the number of one night stand's he had and he'd never met a girl he'd want to date. Until today.
"Listen. I had a great time tonight. Anit ever been able to talk to a woman this long and be comfortable with it. Especially one as pretty as you." Daryl told her after he laid Tanner who was asleep in his truck and turn to talk to Beth who had followed him out with his left over's to take to Merle and her number so the boys could play together.
Beth blushed when he called her pretty and tucked her hair behind her ears and she smiled.
"Thank you. I had a great time to. You're a really nice guy and that's rare these days." She told him and he smirked a little.
"Would you mind going out with me? I'd like to spend more time with ya." He said and Beth could see the nervousness rolling off him and it made her smile. He was being very sincere and it was endearing that a man has handsome as Daryl would want to go out with her.
"I'd like that Daryl. There's a fair tomorrow in town I was thinking of taking Tyler. Maybe we can go together and take the kids. If you want?" Beth said biting her lip and Daryl had to grip the door to stop from kissing her. It was too soon but she was so fucking pretty.
"Sounds prefect. Can I pick yall up? Around noon?" he ask and she nodded as he leaned forward and kissed her cheek before sliding into his truck. She blushed and smiled as she waved him off and she couldn't keep the smile off her face the rest of the night. He was so sweet and she just knew he'd be nothing like Zach had been. He was a hard working honest gentleman like her daddy and she couldn't wait till tomorrow.
Daryl too was grinning all the way home and when he ran into Merle after laying Tanner down in the bed his brother knew something was up.
"Where the hell you been all evening? And why ya smiling like an idiot?" Merle ask and Daryl just rolled his eyes and handed him the container Beth made for him.
"Here eat this and shut up. Tanner and another boy named Tyler beat up some older boy for trying to hurt Tyler's little Cousin Julie. After we got the verbal bashing from the teacher me and Tanner went over to Tyler's mom's apartment and had dinner. Beth. I got another date with her tomorrow. We spent all evening talking while the kids played." Daryl said and Merle stared at him slack jawed where he was about to put a big bite of the best smelling food in his mouth.
"You spent the afternoon talking with a woman and actually ask her on a date?" Merle ask chuckling as Daryl flipped him the bird. Merle was glad for his brother. He knew this women must be something to catch Daryl's attention.
"Well, I'm happy for ya. Beth. That sounds familiar." Merle said thinking and Daryl snorted.
"No anit anyone you ever been with asshole. She's old man Hershel's daughter. Guess her ex was abusive to her and maybe the boy too. From what I can tell and she left him and came back home. I like her so don't mess this up for me." Daryl said and Merle held his hands up in surrender as he chuckled at his brother already being protective of this girl. Yep. She'd be moving in with them soon. Merle could already tell.
Pulling up to her place the next morning they were already standing outside waiting. Tyler ran up to the truck and about dove in the back once Daryl got out and opened the door. Tanner and Tyler began talking and chatting away while Daryl chuckled and walked around the truck to open Beth's door.
She was stunning in her little shorts and tank top with her hair in a pony tail and sandals showing off her pink toenails. She gave him a wide smile as he picked her up and sat her in the truck and shut the door. She tried to hide her blush of pleasure at how chivalrous he was being but Daryl had seen it and wanted to see it more often.
"Ready?" he ask her and she nodded eagerly as he pulled off.
The boys had a blast at the fair and Daryl had to admit he was having a good time too. They met Beth's sister Maggie and her husband Glenn the Koran boy that delivered pizza's to their house sometimes apparently he now owned the pizza place his parents left to him before they moved away to retired somewhere tropical. Julie was there daughter and she was a shy, quite girl that like to read and play on her tablet. The boys talked with her some before they started begging to ride the rides.
"They are really having a great time." Beth said laughing as Tyler and Tanner ran to get a seat together on the roller coaster. Daryl nodded as he stood beside her to watch here boys.
"It's Tanner's first time to one of these. I'm not surprised he loves it." Daryl said and she nodded.
"Daddy use to take us anytime it came to town. Maggie, Shawn and I use to beg for days to ride all the rides." Beth told him.
"Never been to one before. My old man was a bastard and when our mom died he old got meaner. He died when I was still in high school and Merle did his best to take care of me but Merle back then was into so much shit he was in and out of jail until Tanner came along. He got himself clean and helped me raise him." Daryl told her and she looked over at him for a moment before smiling.
"Then we need to make sure you have the full fair experience." He said and he chuckled.
They spent the day riding every ride there, playing all the games and eating there way though the most fried foods he'd ever seen. His son hadn't stopped smiling all day and Daryl had to admit he was having more fun then he'd ever remember ever having. Beth was an amazing women. He talked to her about things he'd never talked to anyone about and she never one looked at him like he was a piece of shit.
She was an amazing mother too. She loved her son more than anything in the world and that little blonde boy adored his mother. He couldn't understand how a man could ever even think of putting their hands on a woman as amazing as Beth Greene.
"Your son is so sweet." Beth told him later that night. They had stayed until the kids couldn't handle anymore and went back to her apartment. The boys where asleep on the outside couch as Beth and Daryl sat together talking on the swing she had her brother install for her when she moved in. She liked sitting outside and Daryl couldn't help but see her swing on this swing on the porch of the house he and Merle built.
"He'd a good kid. I got lucky." Daryl told her and she smiled at him.
"I think that's more of a testament of what a good dad you are." She told him and he felt his face heat up. He'd never had anyone compliment him before.
"Beth. Can I kiss you." He ask her and she nodded as she leaned towards him and he met her in their first kiss. He knew the moment her lips touched his he was completely fucked. He had fallen for her hard already and would do anything in his power to show her she was amazing women and deserved to be worshipped.
He kissed her with passion and care she'd never felt before and she didn't want to stop. She wanted to kiss him for the rest of her life.
After that Beth and Daryl spent a lot more time together. She had even got to meet Merle when she went to their home and cook dinner for them all. Merle had to laughing with the stories he told about stupid shit they had done in their life and Merle knew this little angel was going to be his sister in law soon. Daryl was head over heels in love with his women and Merle couldn't really blame him. She was beautiful, sweet and caring and looked at his brother like he was the most amazing man on the earth already and Merle knew his brother would spend the rest of his life loving this women.
Beth loved Daryl and Merle's home. It was in the woods and bigger then she thought a house they would live in would be. Merle lived in the apartment over the garage giving Daryl and Tanner the house but Merle spent most of his time in the house with them. It had a large wrap around porch and no neighbors for miles. It reminded her of the farm she grew up on and she loved it.
Beth could see how much those 2 men loved that little boy. Tanner everything to both of them and as rough as Merle seemed he loved his brother and his nephew and would die for either one of them and Beth respected that.
After Zach before surrounded by strong loyal men was a breath of fresh air for her and made her feel safe.
"So angel tell me about your boy's father?" Merle ask her. They were sitting on the porch watching Daryl play ball with the boys and Beth had come outside and handed him lemonade she made for them when he ask what he had been wanting to know since he met the girl.
"Tyler's dad is a piece of shit." Beth told him and he snorted in amusement. He'd never heard her cuss before and it amused him.
"I figured that much." Merle said as Beth sighed.
"He was my high school sweetheart and we went off to college together in Atlanta. We lived together and for a while things were fine. But then I got pregnant with Tyler and had to finish my degree online because my pregnancy was hard. He had started drinking more and he had to drop out and get a job. I think he hated me for ruining his life. After Tyler was born things settled down for a while and I actually thought maybe he wanted to be a good father even if things between us was tense but then I came home from work one day and found him passed out on the couch, drugs on the table and some bitch passed out on the floor, our 3 year old son crying in his room. I lost it. I kicked them both out and didn't speak to him for over 6 months. After that he came back begging me to allow him to see his son, he swore he was getting help and wanted to see his son and I allowed it within reason of course. I never wanted to keep him from his son. But he started not showing up to things like his birthday or planned visits and when he did he was a different person. He kept trying to get me to sleep with him and I told him flat out no. He had cheated on me and that's not something I can ever just forgive. He started doing small things like shoving me when we'd fight, or grabbing me arm or wrist to hard. Then a year ago he came to my apartment down in Atlanta where we were sitting living high out of his mind and reeking of alcohol. Tyler was already in bed when Zach kicked the door in and beat me so bad I blacked out. I woke up 3 days later with my father and sister at my hospital bed. Tyler had ran from the apartment when Zach had dragged him from his bed, to our neighbors and called my father. The police had come and apparently he had a lot of drugs in his car as well as rope and shit in the back and he was so out of it he admitted he planned to kidnap us and force me to see we belonged together. He was crazy. After that I was done. I got a restraining order and we moved back here. I stayed with my father for a while just getting myself back to normal before I started working for him and got my own apartment." Beth told Merle her story and he listened hand clinching on his glass at the thought of that asshole hurting them. He could see a lot of himself in that story. He'd never hurt a women before but he had been bad on drugs for a long time. Tanner and Daryl were the reason he finally decided to get clean.
"Does Daryl know this story." Merle ask her and she nodded.
"Yes I wanted to make sure he knew my baggage in case it wasn't something he was comfortable with dealing with. I haven't seen Zach since that night and I don't even know if he's still in jail or not but his rights were taken away that night and I hope to never see him again but I wanted Daryl to know before he decided if we wanted to give this a go." She told him and he nodded. He knew his brother would never have abandoned her even after hearing that story. Daryl was a good man, better then there piece of shit father and he already loved this girl even if they hadn't said it yet.
"Should have killed the asshole." Merle said and Beth chuckled. Yeah she loved these two strong men.
"If I had seen him dragging my son though the apartment I probably would have." She told him and he nodded.
"If he ever comes around you call us." He told her and she nodded as they went back to watching the boys rough house the in yard. Yeah Daryl had said the same thing. She knew they wouldn't let Zach hurt her or Tyler and Beth knew she was in love with this man and she loved his brother too.
Daryl was shocked at how well he got along with Beth's family. Hershel already knew him and his brother having brought many things to them to fix but when Daryl went with Beth to Sunday dinner with Hershel he figured the man would tell him to stay the hell away from his little girl but he didn't. He took Daryl out to his barn with him to help with his generator and told him to keep his girl safe and happy and Daryl promised he would. After that Daryl was always being invited over to the farm for dinner or to let his son play with the animals and Hershel would call him to help him with things around the farm and Daryl honestly didn't mind. Hershel was a good man and he seemed to be ok with Daryl dating his daughter so if Hershel needed something Daryl was going to make it happen.
Hershel had talked to Daryl one day when he had ask Daryl to come help him with a tracker that was giving him issues and he told Daryl how it felt to get the call from his grandson that his dad was trying to kill his mom. Hershel admitted that he took his gun with him that day. Planned to kill that fucking prick when he got there but they had already taken him to jail. Hershel wasn't the church man that day. He was a father ready to defend his child but the cops saved the pricks life that day and Daryl promised the man that if that asshole ever thought to come and hurt Beth or Tyler he and Merle would take care of it. Hershel had told him right then and there that if at any time he wanted to marry his daughter he could go right ahead and ask. He told him that when you had a daughter there is never a man good enough for you daughter until one day one came along that was and he told Daryl that he was the one he had been waiting for Beth to find and Daryl couldn't even tell you the emotions he felt when that man told him that. He felt worth something.
Beth had never been happier. She and Daryl had been dating for a couple months and they had both admitted they loved each other. She knew she was going to spend the rest of her life with Daryl and Tanner. She loved them both and couldn't wait to see them everyday. She and Tyler had been spending a lot of time at the Dixon home or they at her apartment. She looked forward to seeing them everyday and waking up to Daryl in the morning was the most amazing feeling in the world.
"Hey." She said when Daryl and Tanner came to pick her and Tyler up. They were going to spend the weekend with him and Merle and the guys were going to take the boys hunting. They were so excited and Beth smiled as he kissed her deeply before picking her up and putting him into his truck. This was the first time they had spent the whole weekend together and Beth was equally excited as her son.
They spent the night eating pizza she made and watching movies with Merle in the Livingroom before the boys fell asleep in Tanner's room excited to get up early for their first hunt.
"I love spending nights with you." Beth told him when they retired to his room for the night. Daryl smirked as he crawled across the bed and hovered above her.
"I love you." He told her and she smiled as she kissed him.
"I love you too." She replied when she pulled back and Daryl smiled down at her.
He made love to her for hours that night. She had never felt so loved in all her life. Every time they were together, everything he did for her and her son made her love him that much more.
They woke up early that morning. She made sure they all had a good breakfast before Daryl and Merle took the two boys into the woods to teach them to track and hunt and Beth went into work with her dad. They were open 1 Saturday a month for a few hours and he ask her if she would come in and help him. The normal girl that helped part time was out sick.
The day was normal as any until the door dinged and she looked up with a smile that faded fast.
"What do you want?" she ask at Zach that was giving her a look she didn't like.
"You and I want my son." He told her and she picked up the phone but the yanked it from her and threw it across the room.
"You are not supposed to be anywhere near us. Get the hell out of here." Beth yelled and Hershel herd her then.
"This isn't over. You think you can hide from me. I know where you live and I know about that fucking redneck you're whoring around with. You will be mine again." He hissed as Hershel came into the office and Zach quickly left. Beth broke down into a cry after that. Why wouldn't he leave her alone?
Hershel made a call to Rick the sheriff and good friend to him and ask him to meet them at Daryl's house. He didn't want to let Beth go alone and he knew the Dixon brothers wouldn't be able to be reached until they got back from hunting.
When Daryl and Merle came out of the woods with the rabbits they got they froze at the sight of the police care in there drive way and they broke out into a run towards the house.
Rick stopped them as they rounded the corner where he was coming outside.
"Rick. What's going on?" Daryl ask his friend.
"Beth was threatened at work today by her ex Zach." He told them and Daryl growled.
"That bastard showed back up?" Daryl said and saw the fear in Tyler's face.
"Yes. When she went to call the cops he snatched the phone from her and threw it across the room. Made reference to knowing where she lived and about you and promised she would be his again soon. We have an ABP out on him but so far he hasn't turned up." Rick told him and Merle was pissed.
Daryl nodded and ran past the man and into the house to see Hershel sitting on the couch with Beth who looked terrified.
"Beth." He said falling to his knees in front of her laying his crossbow on the table.
"He's back and now you and Tanner are in danger too." Beth said throwing herself into his arms.
"He's going to try and take my son." She mumbled into his chest and Daryl gritted his teeth as he held her to him. Merle came into the room with the two boys and they shared a look. They had to keep them safe.
"He anit touching you or Tyler. I'll kill him first." Daryl told her as he kissed the side of her head. Hershel nodded in agreement as he went and distracted the two boys with Merle to show them how to skin the rabbits they caught. They didn't want Tyler to get upset.
"I'm so sorry Daryl to put you and Tanner in this. I'm so sorry." She told him and he pulled her against him as he sat with her on the couch.
"Stop apologizing. This is not in any way your fault. This fucking guy is a fucking crazy ass tweeker and I anit sorry I met and fell in love with you. You and Tyler are mine and I won't let him hurt either of you." He told her and she nodded as she took a few deep breathes to try and calm down.
"I want you and Tyler to move in here with us. I've wanted it for well honestly since that first night we met but I've really wanted it for a while now. I love you. I love Tyler and I want us to be together, here. I can keep you safe here too." He told her and she looked up at him and nodded. She wanted that too.
Merle, Glenn and Rick helped her pack and move her small apartment into the Dixon home the next day. Rick was able to get the landlord to let her out of her lease stating she was being stalked and it wasn't safe. They agreed and Beth didn't have to pay a fee for leaving early.
The boys were adamant that they were going to share a room and because that's what they wanted Daryl and Merle went and bought them bunk beds. Beth had offered to pay for them but Daryl snorted and said hell no. She chuckled at her man. He took such good care of her.
Beth took a few days off work to get settled and because honestly she was scared. There were times when she was alone at her father's office when he made house calls to the local farmers and she didn't want to be alone right now. Not with Zach somewhere out there just waiting.
Merle and Daryl knew it wouldn't take him long to do something stupid. They knew these kinds of men and the drugs that owned them now made them inpatient and stupid. A few days after her run in with Zach Merle and Daryl were hunting close to the house when they saw his car parked down the street from there house. They ran back to the house in time to see both boys running out the back door yelling their names.
Daryl told them to hide in Merle's apartment as they both ran into the house weapons still in their hands from hunting as they aimed it a the blonde head of the ass hole that had Beth backed into the corner.
"Big fucking mistake asshole." Daryl growled his crossbow aimed at the pricks head. The boy was demented; he could see it in his eyes as he put a large knife to Beth's cheek. He heard sirens in the back ground and knew his son had called Rick from Merle's apartment.
"Beth is mine and that's my fucking son." Zach yelled out as Rick came into the house, gun raised. Zach could see he was surrounded.
"You're not getting anywhere near my son." Beth told him and Zach chuckled darkly.
"And you think you're going to stop me. Your weak little bitch." He hissed and then gasp and backed up a few steps and stared wide eyes at Beth. She had stabbed him in the stomach with the large knife Daryl had in the kitchen. Zach looked down at the blood on his hand before he yelled out in rage and went to charge Beth but Daryl was faster and his arrow whizzed though the air and landed on its target in the side of Zach's head dropping him to the ground. No longer ever able to hurt Beth or Tyler again.
Beth stepped over his body as Rick ran over to make sure he was dead and she jumped into Daryl's arms.
"the boys." She ask and he chuckled.
"Safe in Merle's apartment." He told her and she nodded in relief.
"He just busted in here and I made the boys run outside as fast as they could." She told him and he nodded. She was such a momma bear.
"I can't believe you stabbed his ass sugar. That was bad ass." Merle said and she chuckled. She felt bad Daryl had to kill Zach but she knew he didn't feel bad about it one bit. He promised to protect her and he would do it again and again if he had to.
Thanks to Hershel letting them use his crusher no one ever knew Zach had been that there house. His body and car disappeared and Rick made sure no one even asked question.
Beth and Daryl were married a few weeks after that on Hershel's farm and the old man smiled the whole time. Daryl was a god send to his family and his Bethy was happy, safe and about to make him a grandpa again.
Life couldn't get any better.
