Reunion in the making
The next day was no different than yesterday; once again, the gang had met up in the warehouse and training had begun, the first session starting with Yugi vs Tristan. The others had found their places near or on top of the crates that lined the walls, but Tea looked about. "Hey, anyone seen Kaiba or Mokuba yet?" she asked the others.
"No. It's not like them to run late to a session, especially Mokuba. I hope they're alright," Bakura replied with a perplexed look.
"Mokuba, I can understand wantin' ta come. But Kaiba? Heh, forget it. He'd rather run his company than train with us," Joey scoffed with a roll of his eyes.
"You're just sayin' that, amigo, because he kicked your butt yesterday," Spencer sniggered, earning a glare from the blond as he growled under his breath before huffing and crossing his arms like a pouting child.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, Spencer," Joey grumbled.
Just then, two showers of sparks, one sea blue and one white, came soaring in and materialized into the Kaiba brothers. "What's the matter, Wheeler? Still sore over me trouncing you last night? At least Yugi puts up a better challenge, either in training or in Duel Monsters. You'll always be third rate," Kaiba taunted, causing Joey to grit his teeth in irritation.
"YA WATCH YOUR MOUTH, RICH BOY, BEFORE I COME OVAH DERE AND SMACK DAT SMUG GRIN OFF YA FACE!" He would snap back at him, causing Tristan and Yami to pause in their training, the brunette letting off a sigh of annoyance.
"Oh boy.. here we go again," he moaned.
"Still singing the same tune, puppy. You say you want to beat me, but you could never back your talk. That's all you've ever been, all bark and no bite," Kaiba chuckled as he walked over to a large crate and sat down, Mokuba coming to sit beside him.
But something seemed a bit off about the young one; the usual excitement and energy was not there today. Instead, his eyes were cast to the ground in a deep, thinking expression. Something was troubling him, that much Spencer could see as he glanced over to the water user. He then stole a glance to the elder brother, who had an arm around his little brother and the siblings would lock eyes for a moment, an unspoken conversation taking place.
'I wonder what's going on? Mokuba's usually never this quiet and Kaiba knows something about it. Maybe if somehow I can get him to open up, I can perhaps get an idea of what's on their minds' Spencer thought. He would then clear his throat and turned to Kaiba. "May I have a word alone with you, Kaiba?"
Kaiba was silent for a moment before turning to Mokuba, whom finally smiled and gave an assuring nod before the CEO would hop off and join the king over in a corner. "What is it, Spencer?" he spoke in a quiet tone, not wanting the others to overhear.
"Is everything alright, Kaiba? Mokuba seems a bit... distant today. Did something happen to you that I should know of?" Spencer asked, wanting to get straight to the point.
Kaiba's eyebrows raised a bit at the forwardness, but schooled his expression back to the calm one he usually wore before turning back to his brother, who was now watching the spar between Bakura and Tea. Yugi had taken over again and was sitting with Mokuba as he struck up a conversation. Sighing, he turned back to Spencer. "... Something did happen yesterday. Mokuba told me that he had a strange dream about something named.. Leviathan."
Spencer nearly reeled back in shock; Leviathan!? How was that possible!? How did Mokuba come in contact with the once ruler of the seas?! No one had seen the mighty sea serpent ever since he was freed from the darkness that once tainted and twisted him into a vicious monster. "H-How.. How is that possible? How did young Mokuba come to meet him?"
"He picked up something when he was swimming a couple of days ago." Digging into the pocket of his coat, he presented it to him and Spencer thought he was going to faint; there was no mistaking that shimmer and color. He could even feel the raw magic leaking from it. "He told me that Leviathan told him what happened and asked him to find these pieces, nine in total."
"Madre de dios... I didn't think he would be found so soon," Spencer muttered as he began to slowly pace back and forth.
At first, Kaiba was understandably upset that once again, his brother may be in danger from whatever was coming their way. After the mess with Yingya and the fairy tale shenanigans, he didn't want his brother to get hurt again. But of course, it was not meant to be. Now a literal sea god had come in contact with his kid brother. Every time when he thought the craziness was over for now, something else has to come along.
However, he made a promise to Blue Eyes a long time ago that he would use his powers to protect Mokuba from danger. And he was going to keep that promise, no matter what it took. Mentally shaking his mind out of that for now, he turned back to Spencer, who was done pacing. "Anyway we can find out where he is?" he asked him.
"No. The problem is he could be anywhere in the world's oceans.. or in ours back in my home realm," Spencer shook his head.
"Great.. now it's going to be like finding a needle in a haystack," Kaiba grumbled slightly while crossing his arms. He knew this was not going to easy.
"I will have to talk to Dark Magician, Blue Eyes and Flame Swordsman about this matter. In the meantime, keep an eye out on your brother. Something tells me that this will not be the only time Mokuba is going to be encountering him," Spencer says before vanishing in a shower of sparks.
As Kaiba returned to the group, Yugi noticed that Spencer was nowhere in the room now. "Kaiba, where did Spencer go?" he asked in curiosity.
"He had something to take care of back at his home realm. He'll be back later, I am assuming. He didn't tell me why, just said that something came up of great importance," Kaiba lied as he sat back down at his spot.
With Yugi, Yami's voice piped up in his mind. 'Yugi, I can almost sense something is troubling him. He's keeping himself guarded. When he and Spencer went to talk, Spencer seemed.. disturbed about something Kaiba said.'
'But why would Kaiba lie? I hope nothing's wrong,' Yugi replied, sounding a bit worried.
'I do not know, but I am sure Kaiba has a good reason to not say anything about it. For now, we will let him tell us when he's ready. Let's not pry,' Yami would advise his partner, who would give a nod of understanding before focusing back on the end of a spar between Joey and Mokuba.
For the aquamancer, whatever was on his mind, it was hampering his reflexes a little and Joey was able to get some strikes of magic on him. As Mokuba fell to the ground on his butt, Joey furrowed his brow at him. " 'Ey, Mokuba, you okay? You've been like this ever since we started."
"I'm fine. Just.. got a lot on my mind, that's all," Mokuba shook his head as he got to his feet and dusted himself off. "I'm fine, though, don't worry," he added, trying to brush it off.
" A'ight, if ya say so," Joey nodded, satisfied for now before going in for round two.
As the two went at it once more, Mokuba and the others was in for a bit of a shock when one of his water attacks barreled into the blond's arm shield and actually smashed it like glass, sending him crashing to the floor from the impact. The geyser had seemed a bit bigger than his usual ones he fired off and it had formed like an arrow.
"Whoa! Did you see that?!" Tristan exclaimed from next to Bakura.
"I saw it, but I can't believe it! Mokuba's attack just went through Joey's armor like it was nothing," Bakura gasped.
"That was one strong spell," Yugi muttered in amazement. Yami was silent, however the look in his eyes told that there was more behind that attack than meets the eye. As if.. as if something had empowered that spell just now. But what?
"Joey, are you okay!?" Mokuba cried out. How in the world did he manage to bust the diamond armor?
"Owwwww... dat.. dat hurt abit." Joey slowly sat up, rubbing his now aching arm. Pieces of diamond lay strewn about the floor before they disappeared in a miniature pops of sparks. "That went through it like a hot knife through butter. You weren't able ta do dat before. You must've upped your training a bit more," he said with a small laugh as he rubbed the back of his head.
"I.. I didn't mean to do that. I didn't even know how I did that in the first place," Mokuba shook his head, still flabbergasted as he looked to his hands. But what he saw in his left palm made him go stock still for a moment: there was something glowing and it looked like an intricate S shape with a somewhat beaked head at the beginning of it. It was cyan in hue before it vanished, as if it was never there to start with.
"Maybe we should stop for now," Tea piped up after a moment.
"Good idea." Kaiba immediately went over to his little brother and wrapped an arm around him in comfort, still seeing that he was still a bit shaken. But something told him that this Leviathan had something to do with his brother's sudden, yet minor burst of power.
'Spencer better have answers when he gets back. I am not liking this one little bit,' Kaiba added mentally. If people like Susiros and Resheph were to find out about this, no doubt it's going to bring them running.
As the sun would be going down, Spencer had returned, but for some reason, he was grinning towards Kaiba. "Kaiba, I got a surprise for you."
"Oh great. You know I hate surprises," Kaiba grumbled, yet Spencer chuckled in response.
"I think you'll like this one, amigo," he said before stepping aside as a portal would open up... and the person that stepped through the portal, Kaiba had expected to never see again. Yet, here she was. His eyes would go wide and once more, a light blush would paint his cheeks.
"No way..." he muttered as the person smiled at him.
"Hey there, handsome." It was none other.. than CJ, aka Chelsea, the CEO of CJ Records Group. After dealing with the Assassins, Kaiba developed a crush on her (not that he would admit in front of the geek squad) and never forgot that kiss she gave him before she left for home.
"Uh.. umm.. hi.." Kaiba managed to say, his heart beating fast in his chest. 'Dang it, Kaiba! Keep it together! You went through this once!'
That earned a giggle from the female rocker before striding over, took his arm and pulled him into a lip lock. His eyes widened again before they shut, giving in after a moment of minor resistance. Before he knew what he was thinking, to the surprise of the others and to the delight of his brother, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. Chelsea smiled in the kiss and deepened it, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Oh my.." Bakura whispered once more while Joey and Tristan nodded in agreement, both of them dumbfounded.
Spencer once again grinned like a fool, the memory of that day playing back in his mind. 'And this is one of the reasons I can die happy.'
Mokuba beamed with happiness, seeing his brother finally showing emotion around the others as his brother and Chelsea finally broke the kiss, the rocker giving the dragon wielder a warm smile. Perhaps in the future... 'There's a chance!'
"Someone missed me, it seems," Chelsea teased a bit while playfully poking his nose while Kaiba said nothing, obviously at a loss for words. To think, he thought she was not coming back and he would've understood why; being a CEO of any type of company was a lot of work and left little for enjoyment. However, here she was, in his arms with his heart going a mile a minute in his chest.
"Well.. I.." He then heard snickering and glanced over to see Joey and Tristan now grinning like fools, getting enjoyment out of what they were seeing. Trademark scowl returning, he threw two small bolts of lightning at them, sending them hollering as they would fly into some empty garbage cans. "Will you two geeks stop gawking like idiots!" he snapped at them.
"Well, that didn't last long.." Bakura muttered with Tea sighing and shaking her head.
"Will those two ever grow up?" groaned the siren girl.
Scoffing at the now binned teen boys, Kaiba turned to Chelsea, who would slip a hand into his own. "Before you ask why I am here, I got some time off and I have someone taking care of things for awhile," she explained, a blush of her own appearing on her cheeks as she continued. "I was thinking about what to do when Spencer arrived at my home awhile ago, asking if I wanted to come see you for awhile. How could I refuse.. especially after you saved my life and did so much for me while I was here?"
"Well, I was just.. umm.." Kaiba again stammered for a moment, trying to think of what to say. 'C'mon, Kaiba! Get your act together and stop acting like a fool!' Finally, he tried again after a moment of collecting his thoughts. "I didn't want an innocent woman getting hurt, especially by jealous rocker-wanna-be's. I had to do what I could to make sure those chumps didn't get to you."
"And that was so sweet and noble of you, Seto. I was really glad you were there that night, otherwise I would've been dead. I owe my life to you," Chelsea spoke, sincerity in her tone as she took both of his hands. "Now that I'm here, how about we do some catching up?"
Kaiba looked over his shoulder to see Spencer waving his hands forward, as if saying 'Go on!' Mokuba was nodding eagerly, the grin still there. "Go ahead, big brother. You two deserve it," spoke the young one.
Turning back to Chelsea, that tiny smile returned and he would nod once. "Alright. Let's get away from these geeks. I know a good place where we can talk." With that, the two disappeared in a shower of sparks and flew out.
AN: Chelsea's back, guys! I hope that was a good chapter to read. Stay tuned for more! Make sure you review because it really encourages me to keep writing. I like the feedback but NO FLAMES!
