Hey everyone! I just had this idea for a Marina oneshot! Hope you enjoy!
Things had been beyond busy for Maya and Carina of late, and they were missing each other, being on opposite shifts for the last month, that it was basically like they were ships passing in the night. This was hard for both of them, and it was especially hard for Maya, because she loved Carina so much, and really struggled when she didn't see her for more than ten minutes everyday. But finally, things were slowing down, and both of them had the evening and the next two days off, so they could finally just be together for a little bit.
The squad was all meeting for drinks at Joe's, and Carina, Amelia, Teddy and others from Grey's Sloan were all going to join them. Maya was happy to have a night out with her wife and friends, as it was definitely something she needed.
"Come on!" Andy said as she entered Maya's office. Maya, despite being excited about hanging out was still just as anal as ever, and was finishing up paperwork.
"Just give me one second," Maya said as she entered some numbers into her computer. "OK, done. Do you want to drive or should I?"
"No driving tonight," Andy said as she unlocked her phone and called for a Lyft. "Tonight we drink"
"Hahahaha, OK," Maya said.
"Is Dr. Feel good joining us?" Andy asked.
"Yeah, she is off at 8, and afterwards, her and some others from Grey Sloan will be there. I am so looking forward to just hanging out with her, as we've barely seen each other the last month."
"OK, but, whatever you do, I can't walk in on you guys having sex again," Andy joked. "Three times has traumatized me enough."
"What, you can't handle some lesbian sex?" Maya joked back.
"No, you idiot," Andy said, laughing. "You know I don't care about anything queer….But, I just can't keep walking in on you guys."
"Well, I make no guarantees," Maya said, laughing. "I haven't seen my gorgeous wife in that way in god knows how long. And if we're gonna get drunk, I'm gonna be horny, so…"
Andy rolled her eyes, and just as she was about to retort, their car pulled up.
"Thank goodness we finally have to go," she joked.
As they got to Joe's everything was nice, and like it normally was. Jack and Dean were playing darts, Travis and Vic were holding court by the bar. Maya said hi to them and ordered a craft beer and chatted with Ben and Bailey.
"Carina should be here soon," Bailey said. "I saw her finishing up with her last patient about an hour ago. She said she was really excited to come, as you guys have been on opposite schedules recently."
"Don't remind me," Maya said. "We've barely seen each other and it has sucked. I will be so glad when all of this is over."
"I know," Miranda said. "You love that woman so much. And she really, really loves you too."
Hearing that always made Maya kind of giddy. She was a little insecure, and even though she knew how much Carina loved her, she definitely had some "she's really with me?" moments. It was odd, because she was normally so confident about everything, but, for whatever reason, her confidence waned a little when it came to her wife.
Dean then approached the bar, ordering another one, and tried to entice the captain into playing some darts.
"Maybe later," Maya answered. "I'll have no problem kicking your asses, but I am waiting for Carina to get here first."
"Softie," Dean then joked.
"Oh please," Maya answered. "Like you wouldn't drop everything for Vic if she asked you to."
That was still a sore subject for Dean, and he gave her a look as if to say "you're right, but don't bring that up again."
Just then, Carina, Teddy, and Amelia all walked in, and Maya was very excited. Then, about a second later she saw Adrianna, an intern who worked with Carina at Grey's Sloan who followed behind them.
This didn't make Maya happy as Adrianna was this gorgeous, tall, Brazilian woman, whom she had met a few times, and always suspected had a thing for Carina. Carina assured her that it was nothing, but Maya still never trusted her. Carina made eye contact with her wife, and then made her way to the bar.
As Carina kissed her wife hello, Maya said hi to Teddy and Amelia. She wasn't loving seeing Adrianna again, but, she tried to make nice.
"Bambina, you remember Adrianna," Carina said as she sipped a white wine. Carina then ordered Adrianna a beer, which she then began to drink.
"Nice to see you again, Maya" Adrianna said. "Carina has been going on, and on about how happy she was to get to hang out with you tonight."
"I know, this last month has been hard," Maya said as she ordered another beer. "But, things are gonna be changing soon with our work schedules, which we're both looking forward to."
Carina then grabbed Maya's hand and rubbed up next to her, wanting to be closer to her. Maya loved that, as she didn't trust Adriana at all, and then she put her arm around Carina, as if she was marking her territory.
"Oh my goodness, Bambina, the most amazing thing happened today," Carina said. "Remember I told you about my patient, Lucia? Well, she delivered, and guess what she named her daughter?"
"What?" Maya asked
"Maya!" Adrianna answered.
Carina didn't care that Adrianna had taken the end of the story, but, Maya did. For whatever reason, this amazonian beauty with Olive skin and green eyes really bothered her.
"Haha, that's nice," Maya said, downplaying it all. "I don't meet too many people with my name, so, it's cool that this woman named her daughter Maya."
"Right after her husband cut the cord, and they said the name out loud, Dr. Deluca said 'my wife's name is Maya, and she's an Olympic champion….this little Bambina is destined for great things.' " Adrianna said.
"Oh, so, you were there too?" Maya asked, giving a little bit of shade towards Adrianna.
"Yes, she was assisting," Carina said. "It was nice having her there as well."
"It was nice, and it was really nice seeing how calm Carina is during a delivery," Adrianna said.
"Well, this one was a piece of tart," Carina said.
"Haha, you mean a piece of cake" Adrianna corrected.
That really made Maya mad. She loved it when Carina messed up English idioms, but she always wanted to be the one to correct her. Having Adrianna correct her in that moment just didn't feel right. She also knew that this was part of Carina's job, helping out interns, but, this just didn't sit right with her. She ordered another beer, and then took Dean up on his offer to play darts.
"I'm gonna go kick dean and Jack's asses in Darts," Maya said. "Don't miss me too much."
"We'll be here, Bambina" Carina said, giving Maya's hand a squeeze before she left.
Adrianna and Carina then joked with each other in Portuguese, which unfortunately, Maya did not understand at all, nor did she like it that her wife could make inside jokes in another language with a woman she suspected had a crush on her. She had gotten better at understanding some Italian, but, she really didn't know any Portuguese. But, Carina was multi-lingual and of course could converse with Adrianna in her native tongue.
Teddy and Amelia then made their way over, chatting with the two foreign women a little bit. Maya then started to play darts with Dean and Jack, utterly destroying them over and over again.
"Seriously, how did you get so good at this?" Dean asked.
"Lotta lonely nights in random bars in random parts of the country when I was a professional athlete," Maya joked, but there was actually some truth to that.
"Seriously?" Jack asked.
"Well, yeah" Maya said. "I didn't have really any friends when I was training for the Olympics, and so many races were in weird places, so, when I was finished training, I'd often go to a bar and play darts….and I guess I got pretty good"
"Pretty good?" Dean said. "Try amazing."
"Well, she's also insanely competitive" Jack said.
"Yeah, that too," Maya joked.
Maya kept an eye on Carina and the other Doctors, just making sure Adrianna wasn't getting too close to her wife. Jack returned with another round, and Maya downed the beer quickly.
"Damn, Captain" Jack joked.
Maya didn't want to let on she was feeling a little insecure, so she played the whole thing down. Andy then joined them, and Maya pulled her aside.
"Do you see that woman Carina's talking to?" Maya asked
"Oh, yeah, the tall one?" Andy said, handing Maya another beer.
"Yeah, I just don't trust her," Maya said. "She's an intern at the hospital and works with Carina. I've met her before, and I've always felt she had a thing for Carina."
"Well, who wouldn't have a thing for Carina," Andy joked. "I'm straight as hell, and I'd take a run at her if she wasn't married to my best friend."
"Andy," Maya said, not thinking that joke was funny.
Andy realizing her best friend needed some encouragement, then got serious.
"Maya, Carina loves you so much," she said. "And, you've got this" Andy said as she held up Maya's hand, showing her wedding ring. "So, even if that woman likes Carina, there's absolutely zero chance of anything happening with them."
"I know, I know" Maya said. "But this woman, she's foreign, like Carina, she's also a doctor…they just have things in common that I can never match"
"So?" Andy replied. "None of that matters. What matters is how much Carina loves you."
Maya then clutched her necklace, which had her engagement ring hanging off of it. Carina did the same thing, as both of them liked having a piece of the other one close to their heart. Andy then returned to darts with the guys, and Maya sipped her beer, and noticed Carina laughing, and then saw Adrianna put her hand on Carina's shoulder. This wasn't anything major, but, Maya was getting drunk, and realized that she had to do something. She went to the bar, and got Carina another glass of wine, and approached the group.
"What's so funny over here?" Maya said as she handed Carina the wine.
"Oh, Amelia was just showing us a video of Marcus rolling over, and another one with speghettios all over him," Teddy said.
"And then Carina told this dumb story about something that happened today in the hospital," Teddy followed. "You had to be there."
Carina laughed and sipped her wine, and then Maya put her arm around her, once again, marking her territory. Amelia then went to the bathroom, and Teddy told another funny story which lead to all of them laughing. Maya then rubbed Carina's back, and then when she did so, she touched another hand, and realized it was Adrianna's, which made her furious.
"Is there a reason you're touching my wife?" Maya said. Adrianna pretended she didn't hear her, but, Maya wasn't having it.
"Hello! You up there, why was your hand on my wife's back?" Things got tense, and No one really knew what to do. Carina hated when Maya got jealous, but she had expressed her insecurities to her many times.
"I'm sorry Maya, we were all just laughing, I didn't mean to"
"Yeah, right, you didn't mean to" Maya said.
"Maya" Carina said. "It was nothing, totally innocent."
"There's nothing innocent about her," Maya said. "She's wanted you from the second you guys started working together."
"I'm sorry, Adrianna" Carina said. Carina realized Maya was drunk, and a little more insecure than she would normally be, and tried to diffuse this situation.
"Don't apologize to her," Maya said. "You can try all you want, but she'll always be mine….always" Maya said as she held up her wedding ring.
Carina realized that this was going nowhere good, and took Maya's hand and dragged her to the bathroom before she made even more of a scene. Carina was really mad at Maya for embarrassing her, and it really didn't seem like Adrianna had any bad intentions.
"Maya, what is wrong with you?" Carina said in the Bathroom "Adrianna doesn't want me! And even if she did, who cares? I only want you and I'm married to YOU!"
"Carina, I can't let that woman flirt with you right in front of me!" Maya said. "She clearly has no respect for me, and no boundaries"
"Maya, she wasn't flirting with me. And I don't want her! I only want you."
"I see how she eyes you, Carina. She wants you. And I'm not gonna just sit here and let her Come onto you."
"I don't even care if she wants me, Maya….because I don't want her. You're the only person in this world I want. But, you can't go making a scene when anyone looks at me."
"Oh god," Maya said, sobering up slightly, and realizing she had embarrassed herself. "I don't know, I see you guys, she's foreign, a doctor and I'm none of those things!"
"Bambina, you are the most amazing woman I've ever met," Carina said. "And even if someone may flirt with me, it doesn't matter. There will never been another one for me. You're my person."
That definitely reassured Maya. She hated that she let her jealousy get the best of her, but, that's what happened when anyone even looked at Carina the wrong way.
Maya then leaned in and kissed Carina passionately, and Carina absolutely kissed back. Both of them were getting very fired up. The jealousy and the passion, though annoying in the moment only elevated the current mood. As the two continued making out, Andy walked into the bathroom and saw them, and immediately turned around.
"Not again!" She joked.
"I have to have you right now," Maya whispered, slightly nibbling Carina's ear. "You are the sexiest woman alive…."
"Not now, Bambina…." Carina whispered back. "Not in the bathroom at Joe's"
"OK," Maya purred. "But, if we don't do it soon, I'm gonna explode…."
"Me too," Carina whispered.
Carina then pulled away and got her phone out and ordered a Lyft.
"Five minutes away," she said.
Just then, both of them left the bathroom and said their goodbyes to everyone. A lot of the crew was still there, but Dean had gone home to relieve the babysitter, and Ben and Miranda had also taken off. They both said their goodbyes, and Adrianna was actually talking to another intern, and, rather than poke the bear some more, they exited without saying bye to her.
As they walked outside, the car was right there waiting for them. Maya and Carina climbed in the backseat and immediately started kissing more. Luckily, Joe's was only about ten minutes from their apartment, and they both could relieve their tensions soon.
"Are we going to be able to make it home?" Maya whispered in between kisses.
"We better," Carina said. "Because I'm not having sex with you in some stranger's car."
"Haha," Maya whispered back. "OK, but for now, please don't stop kissing me"
Carina leaned in and planted another kiss on Maya, and then swirled her tongue deep inside her mouth. Maya absolutely loved that, and didn't want Carina to stop, but, before they knew it, they were home.
As they raced up the stairs and opened the front door, they finally knew it was time. Maya and Carina had an amazing and very healthy sex life, but, make up sex was always nice. They didn't fight all that much, but when they did, the passion that usually ensued afterwards was amazing.
"Do you wanna go to the bedroom?" Carina whispered
"No, I want you right here," Maya purred back.
As they got on the couch, Carina unzipped her pants, and Maya began to reach inside of her, pulling off Carina's slacks in the process. Carina leaned down and kissed Maya again, as she rubbed her stomach.
