Notes: I'm being cheeky with merging the prompts. It feels like I'm cheating but not. I haven't been feeling well these past few days and while I felt like I was dying in bed, I got this idea that was perfect for day 5: "you don't know who I am, do you?" and day 6: neighbours or famous AU and day 7: superpowers / wait for me.
I really enjoyed bechloe week. I think my favourite one is the famous AU. I hope to participate in more fandom events:) have a good one loves.
Summary: Beca and Chloe doesn't know each other but they're both famous in their own right and they're almost neighbours.
You get to know
"Oh my god! Becs you'll never believe who just moved into the neighbourhood."
Beca had been busy touring and she only just got back. It was the first time she was going to be enjoying her house that she's bought almost a year and a half ago. She wasn't that surprised to find Amy already lounging in her pool and Stacie coming in unannounced.
"Hello to you too Stace. You say that almost every month."
"No this time's different. Where's Amy?"
"She's out by the pool. So who is it? Anyone I'd know?" Beca gives in to her curiosity.
"Chloe Beale!"
Judging by the look on Stacie's face and the way she squealed out the name, Beca should know who Chloe Beale is. But the name doesn't ring any bells. This could mean a few things; she's a Hollywood celebrity or a politician or an athlete or a model. If she were in the music industry, Beca would surely know who she is.
"Okay. I guess that's good to know." Beca simply says.
"Are you kidding? Beca. Chloe Beale, the most talked about actress right now, is practically your neighbour!"
"I don't know how I can be excited about that knowing the Angelina Jolie is practically my neighbour too." Beca wasn't big on Hollywood but even she knows Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.
"You're so annoying. I'm gonna go find Amy."
Her friends were ridiculous. They even went as far as going for morning jogs in hopes of sighting celebrities or anyone famous.
Beca could only shake her head when Stacie walked past her and went to find Amy. Beca looked back down to her notebook. She was in the middle of writing a song. She knew she was supposed to be on vacation but what can you do when inspiration hits you.
"Again? I'm so tired and I haven't slept. Do I really have to?"
Chloe was in the car with her manager, Don. She was on her way home for the first time in two days. She's been busy filming her latest movie.
"You just mostly have to pose for pictures, Chlo."
"Is this really necessary?"
"You have to keep up with your image."
"You mean the promiscious, drunk, bimbo image?"
"No the fun, vibrant, spontaneous and having the time of her life image. This is Hollywood. Everyone loves to see their favourite celebrities out and about."
"Does it always have to involve leaving nightclubs at 2am looking wasted? Why can't I join a book club or something? I'm sure there's a celebrity book club out there somewhere. I can even start one."
"You're funny." Don's smile fades as soon as he flashed them. "Now I need you to be ready before 11 for your big entrance."
Chloe checked the time. It was close to 8pm. She knows she wasn't going to get any sleep when they get home. So she goes for the next best thing. She leaned her back and closed her eyes. The ride home was going to be about another thirty minutes and she wanted all the sleep she could get.
"Check this out Ames." Beca could see Stacie and Amy huddled together on her sofa looking at whatever was on Stacie's phone. "Chloe Beale is at it again."
Beca rolled her eyes. She could swear her friends had this crazy obsession over this Chloe Beale person.
"What Becs? Come on you can say it. We know you want to."
"I just don't get it. She sounds like she's no different from any other Hollywood celebrity. Why are you two so enamored by her?"
Stacie and Amy exchanged looks and shrugged. "It's hard to explain. Why don't we show you instead?"
"No thank you. Not interested. I have better things to do with my time."
Beca should get used to this. She woke up again to a screaming Stacie and Amy in her kitchen.
"You guys you're killing me here. What's happening? Did you guys win the lottery or something?"
"Nope. Better! Look what came in the mail today!"
When Beca saw the invite, she rolled her eyes so hard. "You guys are ridiculous you know that."
"Becs how could you? You know how much we love her and here you are invited to perform at the hottest party of the year and you don't say anything? Were you even going to tell us?"
"Of course I was. It was meant to be a surprise! You two are so dramatic."
Chloe was in the middle of hair and make up when she overheard her team talking about a party. "Wait what housewarming party?"
"Everyone's talking about you and your new house so we thought why not throw a housewarming party. We believe it'll be very good publicity."
"Do I have any say in this?"
"It's all taken care of Chloe. All you have to do is show up and mingle."
Chloe sighed. There was nothing she could do about it.
Stacie and Amy posed as Beca's manager and agent for the night just so they can attend the party with her. Technically the invite was only for Beca and a plus one that she should confirm with Chloe's team. As soon as they were inside, she lost her friends. They were on a mission and nothing was going to get in their way.
After her performance, Beca finds a secluded spot by the pool. She just needed some place quiet after her set. Her friends were still mingling with Hollywood's elite. Stacie's words not Beca's. She was about to settle down when she hears some rustling coming from behind her.
"Miss? Are you okay?" Beca was relieved to find another person.
The culprit suddenly turns around and Beca finds herself face to face with a very pretty stranger despite her attempts to hide her face with a cap and glasses.
Beca clears her throat. "Is everything alright back there?"
"Yeah all good. Don't mind me. Sorry if I scared you."
Beca thinks her voice is just as pretty as her.
Then Beca starts worrying for this person. She starts to look around. Thankful that there wasn't anyone especially security. "Are you gate crashing this party?"
"What?" The pretty stranger turns to her again.
"Do you know whose house it is you just broke into?"
"I didn't break into anyone's house. I'm trying to leave."
"Right. Oh my god are you paparazzi?"
"Oh god no. Wait what about you? Are you a gate crasher?"
"What? No. I would never have the guts to do that. Neither am I paparazzi. I was invited actually." Beca sounded a bit smug about it.
"You were? Really? So you know the owner then?"
"Well. I know of her. I was actually working tonight. I was invited to be the – you know what. It's not even important. You don't know who I am, do you?"
Chloe waited all night for her chance to get away. So when she saw her opportunity to leave, she went for it. She was focused on trying to get over this ledge. She was hoping not to run into anyone. She stares at the person in front of her. Was she supposed to know her?
"No. I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you. I've met a lot of people tonight and it's just a bit hard to keep up."
Beca stares at her too this time and some more. Surely she would remember that face. "Wait."
Chloe was nervous all of a sudden. She knows. She's recognised her. She's been caught.
Beca looks around and leans closer to the person she's talking to and whispered. "You didn't steal anything, did you?"
"Excuse me?"
"I'm sorry I had to ask but it seems to me like you're trying to get away."
Chloe scoffed. "I'm trying to get away alright. I can't stand being in there anymore. I just need to get out of here."
Beca considered it. She still had a lot of questions. One of which is. "Then why don't you go out the way you came in?"
Chloe was getting impatient. "Look I know it looks bad but it's not what you think and I don't have much time. Can you just try to ignore me while I figure this out? Or better yet keep anyone from going this way."
Beca was still confused as to why this girl was so desperate to get out of here.
"You know I heard this was supposed to be the hottest party of the year. Some people would have killed to attend. Yet here you are running away from it. Why?"
"I could actually say the same thing about you."
"I just needed a breather. It's actually my friends who really wanted to be here. They're obsessed with Chloe Beale. I won't be surprised if they have her cornered by now." Beca chuckled.
Chloe chuckled with her. "That's sweet. I don't mind that but I don't think I'll ever get used to it. It terrifies me most of the time."
"I get it. I mean I've had my fair share of crazy encounters." Beca admitted too quickly.
They ended up staring at each other again both trying to read the other.
"Wait. Do you know Chloe Beale?"
Before Chloe could answer, her phone started ringing. She knew it was Don without having to look at the caller ID. She ignored the call.
"Sorry. As much as I would love to continue our little chat, I really have to go." Chloe put her phone in her back pocket and turned around to carry on with her escape.
Beca doesn't know what's gotten into her but she grabs the stranger's wrist. "Wait wait wait."
Chloe turns around to look at the hand on her wrist.
"Sorry. But I'm done with this place too. Can you give me just five minutes to grab my things before we go? I know a place not too far from here. Trust me."
Chloe tilts her head at the stranger. She couldn't believe how she was actually considering the stranger's offer. She could be her stalker for all she knows. She nods her head yes anyway.
Beca was worried she pushed it too far and was so relieved when Chloe nodded yes. "Okay, great. Wait for me here."
They didn't walk far. Chloe kept her head low. She was very familiar with this street. She passed it everyday. But then they stopped in front of a decent sized two-storey house. Chloe just moved recently so she didn't know exactly who her neighbours were just yet. She looked back to her street and saw this house was just about two blocks away from hers.
When she saw Beca moving towards the unknown house, this time it was Chloe grabbing Beca's wrist. "Wait. Please don't tell me we're breaking and entering? When you said you knew a place I didn't know you meant breaking into someone's home."
"Why? Can't do it?" Beca said with a smirk.
"So you don't have it in you to gatecrash a party but you have no problem with committing a felony?"
Beca then starts to laugh out loud. She surprised herself too. She hasn't laughed like that in a while.
"You're right. I'm sorry. I was obviously kidding. I live here dude. Relax."
That wasn't what Chloe was expecting at all. How did she not know this? "You do?" Chloe didn't mean to sound too surprised.
"Yeah. For about a year now. It's nothing. So what can I get you to drink? Beer, wine, vodka?" Beca asked as Chloe followed her into her kitchen.
"I'll have some tea actually if you have some. I don't really drink that much."
"Oh. Okay." Beca grabbed a beer for herself and started the kettle.
They were practically neighbours. Chloe was really curious now who this person was as she watched her move around her kitchen. "I don't think you told me your name."
Chloe saw Beca blush. "Right. Sorry. I'm Beca."
The moment she said Beca. Everything clicked. Chloe gasped and covered her mouth with both hands. "Oh my god. You're Beca Mitchell. I know you. I mean I know your music. I'm a fan. I'm so sorry I didn't recognise you. But I listen to you a lot."
Beca doesn't know why she started feeling shy all of a sudden. "No that's okay. I believe you. And thanks I guess?"
"Are you kidding? My schedule's a bit hectic so I haven't made it to any of your concerts. I was so excited when they told me you were performing tonight. But I got busy so I still missed your performance. I bet you were great."
Beca quirked an eyebrow. "Busy running away?"
"You can say that."
It was Beca's phone that started ringing this time. She let out a groan and answered. "Please tell me you haven't burned the house down."
"Of course not. Where are you? We've been trying to find Chloe Beale but no luck."
"Well it is a mansion. Maybe she has secret rooms to hide away from creepy stalkers like you and Amy."
"You hurt us Becs. We just want to be her friends. We really feel like we'll get along."
"Okay good luck in finding her then. Please don't break anything and please don't harass her in anyway. Oh god, please don't fight or provoke her. Just take it easy on her when you find her alright? Also, I'm back at home. I wasn't feeling it. Let me know if you guys need me to pick you up or anything."
"No need. We'll be fine."
Stacie ended the call at that.
"It looks like I'm going to have to go back there later and literally drag them home." Beca says to Chloe.
"What was that all about? Who's 'them'?"
"Remember my friends I was telling you about that was obsessed with Chloe Beale. Yeah so they've been trying to look for her and they still haven't found her. I personally think it's for the best."
"What were your friends' names?"
"Stacie and Amy."
Chloe sent a quick message to her security. She wanted to make sure they wouldn't get into any trouble and have someone look after them just in case.
"So why don't you want your friends to meet Chloe?" It was weird to refer to herself in the third person.
"Surely you've heard of the stuff they say. It's all my friends talk about. I just don't think she'll respond to them well. They can be a lot and she doesn't look like someone who has the patience for something like that."
"Why do you think that?" It's not that Chloe was bothered. She didn't want to sound too defensive.
"I don't know. She's like the most talked about actress right now." Beca is cringing at herself as she repeats Stacie's words. "If that were me I wouldn't have time for other people's nonsense and she doesn't seem like the type to really mingle outside her group."
"You really think that?" Chloe found it amusing that Beca seemed to 'know' her but doesn't recognise her now. Could it be the glasses?
Beca suddenly felt guilty. She of all people should know what it's like. "Not really. I don't really know anything. It's just what I hear from people."
"Hmm. I didn't peg you as someone who would believe everything they'd read on the internet or hear from people." Chloe says with a raised brow.
"I don't. I swear I don't. I don't know why I said those things."
"So what do you really think then?"
"Like I said, I don't know. I think no one really knows anyone ever unless you want them to know you."
It was Chloe this time who felt a little guilty. She hasn't been completely honest with Beca and Beca had been nothing but nice and welcoming.
"Which reminds me, I still don't know your name." There was the dreaded question.
It must've been the look on Chloe's face but Beca went pale as a ghost and then blushed as red as a tomato as the realization struck her. She opened and closed her mouth but there were no words that came with it. Chloe gave Beca time to let everything sink in.
"You're her. How the fuck did I not recognise you?"
Beca didn't sound mad or accusatory. It was mostly disbelief. Chloe still felt bad. She bit her lip and shrugged. She removed her cap and glasses and decided to come clean.
She offered her hand for Beca to shake. "Hi. I'm Chloe. It's really nice to meet you, neighbour."
"You too." Beca shakes her head. "I never did understand how Supergirl and Superman's main disguise were spectacles… until now."
