I never created Fox's Peter Pan and the Pirates.
Wendy smiled after she viewed a young squirrel wandering near a tree. She flew to it and looked around. One frown replaced her smile.
''I don't see your mother or father.'' Another smile materialized on Wendy's face. ''I'll care for you until your parents return.''
Wendy crouched and extended her arm. She watched as the squirrel approached her with caution. Wendy's smile remained after it ran up her arm.
When it was on her shoulder.
''Are you hungry?''
The animal never made a sound.
''I'll protect you if Captain Hook or Cecilia appear.''
Wendy tilted her head to one side when she heard footsteps. Puzzled, she frowned again and looked back. Her eyes flew open.
Cecilia stood in her white dress with a mask concealing her face.
Worry appeared in Wendy's eyes before she embraced the squirrel. She stepped back. ''Is Captain Hook here?''
Cecilia shook her head.
''Why are you here?''
Wendy began to step back another time when Cecilia attempted to seize the squirrel. ''It's not a pet for you,'' she said to her.
She stepped to the side after Cecilia tried to capture it again. ''The infant should be with its mother.''
Wendy looked back after another squirrel appeared. She released the infant when it struggled in her arms.
The squirrel glanced from Wendy and Cecilia to the other animal. It focused on Cecilia as the latter crouched and extended her arms.
It then ran to its mother. The animals fled together.
It was the return of Wendy's smile. She nodded and then turned to Cecilia. There was another frown when the latter glanced at another squirrel and pursued it. Wendy followed them and attempted to prevent the squirrel from becoming a pet for Cecilia.
