A couple of days later as Sasuke came home he was shocked to see Sakura standing there.
"What do you want?" She asked
"What?" Sasuke said still a little shocked to see her there
"What do you want? What do you want from me? Do you want Daisuke? You can't have him! You can train him and be his mentor… or whatever, but you can't have him…. He's my son… I bore him for 9 months, I raised him, I do everything I can for him despite being a single mo….." Sakura took a deep breath as she was breaking down. "So… what do want?"
Sasuke wanted to hug her but he stood where he was unsure and said "I want a second chance?"
"Second Ch… Second?!" Sakura said incredulously "You think that me trusting you again would the second chance! I have given you a dozen second chances! I came looking for you after you left with Orochimaru, I trusted you when you came with Team Taka saying it to was to help Konoha, I trusted you when you killed Danzo and I trusted you again during the war and then again after it! I have given you enough second chances Sasuke Uchiha! And you've wasted them all! Every time, every single time I let my guard down, you hurt me and you've left! But! The last time, you didn't just hurt me, you hurt my son! You think it's been easy for him seeing all his friends with father's and wondering where his was?! Wondering if his father left because of him?! Wondering if his father was a ninja who died on a mission?!"
Sasuke wanted to say a lot but he knew Sakura, he knew her rage, he knew most of it was justified, so he listened. He listened to her scream at him. He watched silently as she threatened him with physical harm when it came Daiuske. He listened to her yell at him for 10 minutes and finally when she was done and still heaving he said "I wouldn't never take him away from you… and I won't tell him anything unless you want to…"
Sakura just glued daggers at him and walked past him. When she was a few steps away he said "He's not stupid Sakura…" She stopped and glared at him again "Daisuke, is young and naive but he's not stupid… One day, he will realise the truth…"
Sakura and Sasuke stood there eyes locked for a whole minute and then she turned and walked away again. Sasuke watched her till she disappeared around the bend.

For the most part, life had gone back to a normal routine. Daisuke and Boruto were training with Sasuke. From time to time Himawari would join them as well. Naruto was back full time and spending his days with Tsunade getting ready to take his place. Sakura had recovered and was busy with the hospital as well. Sasuke had kept his distance and his promise. He had not even once activated his sharaingan in front of the boys. Spring gave way to monsoon and intoxicating petrichor filled the air.
Sakura loved the rains. The smell, the freshness. She enjoyed sitting and watching the rain fall. The forest looked beautiful, everything just looked better with a little rain. So that day as she was heading home, she decided to forgo the umbrella and just enjoy a walk in the rain. It was late, almost everyone was home. The few people who were out were either rushing or trying their best to stay dry. There were some kids splashing about in puddles, she was sure she would find Daisuke and Boruto messing around in Hinata's garden. She was so grateful that Naruto and Hinata had found each other, they made a wonderful couple. Just perfect.
Lost in thoughts of love and romance, she almost didn't see where she was going and then suddenly a girl walking out of store was just falling in front of her. Sakura stopped and instinctively put her hands out to hold the young lady but there was nothing to catch. When she looked up, She saw him. She had avoided him all this time and then suddenly when she was least expecting him, here he was. But he wasn't not looking at her at all.
Sasuke grabbed the girl's wrist as soon as she slipped. With a strong fluid motion, he spun her and pulled her back up into his arms. The girl was heady and wide eyed as she looked into those obsidian orbs that were laced with concern "Are you okay?" He asked and the girl just blinked at him. He hands were resting on his firm chest. He was not in uniform, just in a simple Samue. Still holding the girl by her wrist and around her waist he asked again "Are you okay?"
The girl blushed a little and said "aa… ah… arigato…" He then turned them facing his back to Sakura and finally let go of the girl. "Be careful, it's very slippery… here…" he said handing her his umbrella. "… oh! No… I can't accept that… you need it…" The girl said blushing even more. "It's okay… I like the rain…" Sasuke handed the girl the umbrella and walk away without looking back. Sasukra stood there in the rain watching him go and watching the girl blush and smiled looking at the umbrella. She didn't know why but the whole thing seemed to irritate her a bit.
Flashback Begins
Sasuke had been in an intense session of physical therapy for his arm and then in a horrible session with Morino Ibiki. His head was pounding. It was raining as he stood at the edge of the building wondering why on earth did he forget his umbrella. Most people walking by were ignoring him but suddenly an umbrella appeared on his head. He turned to see it was Sakura. "Take it…"She said with a smile "Take it… I don't want it…" When he held on to the handle she gave him a dazzling smile and ran into rain letting it soak her as she strolled away "I like the rain…." She had said before leaving. Sasuke had stood there holding the umbrella watching her till he could see her no more.
End Flashback

A few days later Sakura was enjoying a cup of tea with Ino in one of the new shops. Ino was going on about all the arrangements and how Sai was missing for days on end because of Naruto's Hokage ceremony coming up and how the 5 Kage's coming once again was going to be such a pain. Then just like that day, out of nowhere Sakura saw that same girl with Sasuke's umbrella. She was waiting for something by the looks of it. Suddenly Sakura lost all interest in what Ino had to say. She watched the girl closely. Suddenly the girl smiled and ran across the street. Through the street's traffic Sakura saw the girl give Sasuke a gift and his umbrella. She saw Sasuke actually smile for that girl and then to Sakura shock and disbelief, he began to walk with the girl talking to her!
"Helloooooo! Forehead!" Ino said irritated and then began to look in the direction that Sakura had just seen Sasuke and the girl disappear in the crowd "What has got your undivided attention over me!" Ino said irritated. Seeing nothing she flicked Sakura's head with the menu brining her back to the present
"Itati! Nani!" Sakura said irritated
"Nani yourself?! What were you looking at?" Ino Asked
"I…" Sakura started but then decided, she was not going to let it bother her… "Nothing… I thought I saw someone I knew… One of my patients…"
"Ooh! Patient goss! Do tell? Was it a VIP?" Ino asked getting interested
"No.. no one important…" Sakura said "You were telling me Sai hasn't been home in 2 days…"
"Oh yeah! And then when he finally came back yesterday, he…." Ino went back to narrating her gossip but Sakura's heart was not in it. In fact her head was busy wondering about the five minute encounter girl for whom Sasuke Uchiha had smiled.
