It was 3rd period and as normal, Mr. Aizawa took roll before giving the rundown of how the day would go. He explained that due to testing, training would be more or less casual and something for the class to take into their own hands. The class responded with excited chatter as they rarely got the chance to have a free day. Afterwards, they would be having lunch followed by math so everyone was to bring their belongings with them.
Kirishima happily nodded along, glad to have a break from the repetitive day to day training. Everyone was already pairing up, planning on who to train with and what to do. This would be a fun opportunity to hang out with Bakugo and get some 1v1 training in.
"Finally, a chance to have some fun." Bakugo sneered. He knew Kirishima was perfect for withstanding his quirk, so he thought about asking him to practice.
"I don't care what you do, just don't break anything." Mr. Aizawa stated, scanning the classroom with a look that said 'i'm trusting you not to mess this up, don't disappoint me or else' before taking out his sleeping bag from under his desk. "You're free to go. Keep quiet in the halls or you will be assigned worksheets for the time being"
A mixture of 'yes sirs', and 'yes sensei's' filled the class as everyone got up from their desks, pushing their chairs in and packing up.
Kirishima hopped up from his seat and quickly gathered his belongings, shoving everything into his bag before glancing over at the blond with a smile, pumped up for a free period of training.
The blond got up and slung his bag over his shoulder, not really in any sort of rush but ready to get out of class to train. He gave the redhead a challenging smirk and walked over to him. "Ready to lose, dumb hair?"
Kirishima situated his backpack while speaking "No way! You're going down this time!" He said, using his quirk as he punched his fits together. Students were quick to file out of the room, excited to train without the stress of a mandatory plan.
"Whatever you say, hair for brains." Bakugo scoffed. "You're gonna get destroyed, like usual." He enjoyed teasing Kirishima since it always appeared to make him more confident. The blond couldn't resist a good opponent, of course. He headed out of the classroom after double checking that he had everything, making sure not to stray too far from Kirishima as the pair walked
The redhead smiled, he didn't mind the teasing and instead found it to be fun. Kirishima followed right next to the other "I'm glad we don't have to change into our hero costumes. Mine is super manly, and so is yours, but it's annoying to put on"
"Don't even get me started on that." He grumbled, continuing to walk beside the shark toothed male while following down the hall along with their classmates. "My gauntlets are great and all but they're a pain in the ass to put on." Although Kirishima was right, the blond did like seeing the other in his costume. It fit him really well, and it was a bummer not to see him in it this time.
Kirishima chuckled. "Heck yea your gauntlets are great! they're super cool!" He complimented happily, the redhead was pretty fond of the other's hero costume, it made him appear super tough and manly .Overall, being comfortable came before looks. It was better to be practical than flashy in his book.
"You should try wearing them sometime." Bakugo joked. "They're heavier than they look. Your costume probably barely weighs anything." He punched the other's arm playfully, smirking.
Kirishima laughed, instinctively rubbing his arm where he had been punched "that'd be cool! I'd love to see what it would be like to fire off an explosion" He said, making an explosion sound as he mimicked the others trademark stance with his hands. "and my hero costume is not! the cogs on my arms are a bit heavy and so are my boots, plus everythings supposed to be flexible and lightweight anyways"
"Pfft- like you could even figure out how to make an explosion." He rolled his eyes smugly, crackling a few sparks from his palms. "Your costume rips easily anyways. You're hardening is too sharp for it."
"I bet I could do better than you with some practice!" Kirishima challenged, a smile seeping onto his face. "and it's not my fault that the sleeves tear sometimes" He almost huffed, it was frustrating how often his suit had to be modified or repaired when it came to the usage of his quirk "it's hard to find a fabric that won't tear against my quirk, especially when I use my unbreakable move.." The redhead trailed off for a moment before snapping back to his original thought "your hero costume is super manly though! it works well with your build and quirk!"
"There's probably a bunch of fabric perfect for your quirk. I guess you're just blind." He teased, a soft smile being sent the redheads way. "My costume has pros and cons. You'd be surprised." He pushed open the door that led to the outdoor training grounds, holding it open for the other.
The sight of a smile from the blond made his heart melt ever so slightly. He loved Bakugos smile, even more so because of how rare it is. Kirishima chuckled, "you're probably right, at least it looks super manly!"
"Hell yeah it does!" The blond paused for a moment, looking away from the shark toothed male. "Your costume is cool too... I guess..." He muttered, a little shy/stubborn to admit any compliments. Like normal.
"awww, thanks bakubro!" Kirishima said with a bright smile
Once the pair reached a suitable part of land to train on Bakugo placed his bag down by a nearby tree. He looked over at the other as a huge smirk appeared across his face. "You ready to lose?" the blond asked while pulling off his blazer and tossing it on top of his bag dismissively
Kirishima shook his head, placing his bag down. "No way man! i'm going to win this time" The redhead said, sounding determined. He took off his tie and blazer, neatly placing them on top of his bag before stretching, smiling a bunch as he did so.
Sparks flew out from the blonds' palms. "In your dreams! I'm so going to win!" He let out a few explosions, warming himself up. "You better be ready."
"heck yeah im ready!" Kirishima said, putting some space between the two for room to work before readying up his quirk, hardening his arms and planting his feet into the ground
Bakugo stepped back, getting into a guarding stance. "DIE!" He blasted himself forward, firing another blast to launch himself upwords, landing behind Kirishima. His actions were precise and calculated no matter how headlong he seemed
Kirishima watched Bakugo carefully, quickly turning around on his heels and putting his arms up to block his body, using his quirk as he tried to put some space between them, resorting to defence while his mind worked up a plan.
Bakugo stepped back a bit, pausing to strategize. He didn't do this too much, unlike Deku. Bakugo used all instinct. "Too afraid to fight back, aren't you?" He teased, leaping charging again and managing to strike one of the other's arms with a blast.
The redhead's skin hardened just in time, though he still felt the blow of the impact, causing him to almost fall back. Resistant to lose, he stood his ground, even if he risked getting his uniform charred. Students were to keep a change of clothing in their lockers in case of emergencies so if it came down to it he could use the shirt in his locker. "No way, I'm just getting started!" he challenged before charging forward, aiming to sweep under the others feet to catch him unbalanced but instead accidently tripping, failing entirely and accidentally tackling the blond, loosing his balance completely
The pair froze completely, not moving or even blinking as it took a few moments to process what had happened, time felt like it was going in slow motion; Leaving one on top of the other for a solid minute. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Bakugo shouted in a panicked tone, his face turning bright red in seconds. He fired off a few explosions in front of his face as an attempt to cover his embarrassing expression.
If it was even possible, Kirishima's face turned even redder than his hair once he realized what had happened. "ack!" He immediately scrambled to stand up, putting his arm in front of his face to block any of the explosions that risked hitting him. "I'm sorry bro! I lost my balance, I didn't mean for- it won't happen again, I swear!" he apologized rapidly, holding his hand out to help the other up, soon realizing that he had technically knocked the other down first. "Does this mean i win...?" he asked cautiously, he rubbed the back of his neck with a shy smile, his face was still pretty red
Bakugo took a second to recuperate, taking the redhead's hand to stand up, wiping the dirt off his clothes. "Whatever..." He snarled, rolling his eyes. "Fine." He said a few moments after. "Just because you won this time, doesn't mean there isn't going to be a round two." His eyes lingered on the redhead, reaching out to wipe a smudge of leftover dirt off the other's face. "If this happens again, you're dead."
Kirishima felt bad about knocking the other over and it showed, he didn't mean to somehow tick the spikey blond off on top of ruining the match. "got it! i'm sorry, it won't happen again, you have my word" He nodded rapidly as his face began heating up in a matter of seconds, the redhead couldn't help but smile like a dork from the simple contact with the blond as he held eye contact, he knew Bakugo meant business but he couldn't help but smile, even if he was a little scared.
Bakugo noticed the guilt in the other's eyes and didn't like seeing him feel bad. "Don't worry about the match idiot, everyone can be stupid sometimes." He punched the other's arm playfully as a smirk began to grow on his face. "Especially you." The pomeranian looked down, thinking for a moment. "Let's go do something fun, who cares about quirk training." Bakugo normally never skipped class, even if it wasn't important, but he just wanted to get his mind off of what happened.
Kirishima let out a chuckle as he instinctively rubbed where he had been punched, internally both grateful and relieved that Bakugo didn't seem too upset anymore. the redhead titled his head in slight confusion, "but..what if we get caught?" he asked, sounding a bit hesitant. Admittedly, skipping hero training sounded fun, especially since Bakugo was the one who he would be skipping class with but he'd only ever missed class on purpose once, and that was way back in middle school.
The smirk, still on the blond's face, faded into a small smile. Bakugo seemed to know the other was going to worry about missing class and expected the response. "You dork." He laughed lightly, the grin on his face grew. "We won't get caught, don't worry about that stupid crap." He knew the other was already on the edge about the idea, so he decided to throw in another comment, "Even if we do get caught, I'll take the blame."
Both Bakugos words and mood were exactly what Kirishima needed to get him on board. He let out a laugh as a shark-toothed smile appeared on his face, bouncing back to his easily excited self. The redhead loved seeing the other smile so that boosted his mood even more. "We should get moving so that we can make the most of the time we have, " he said, quickly going to retrieve both of their belongings, holding Bakugos stuff out for him as he slipped on his blazer. "where are we off to?" he asked, a smile still on his face
Bakugo was glad to see that the other was back to his normal self. Not even noticing it, Bakugo seemed to have forgotten what had happened earlier. For now, at least. He took his bag from the redhead and slung it over his shoulder after having shoved his own blazer in his bag, pulling out his phone from it to check the time. "How 'bout we get something to eat?" He asked, his eyes still glued to the time on his phone. "It's almost lunch anyway, let's grab something before the lunch rush."
Kirishima looked over at the other intently while fixing his tie and situated his bag. "sounds good to me" He chirped "do you have anything in mind? I heard that there was a new pizza place that opened up not too far from here, maybe just about a block or two away" The redhead mentioned, relieved that Bakugo seemed to be moving on from what had happened. As Bakugo scoured the internet he slowly began walking, not wanting to waste any time just standing around.
The blonde looked up from his phone after finding the pizza place on Google maps. "Guess we'll go there. I don't really care either way." He shrugged, catching up to Kirishima without a problem, his eyes flicking back down to his phone. "Shouldn't be too far away." He added, glancing over at the redhead. "Let's go." The blonde swiftly walked ahead of him, instinctively leading the way.
"okay!" he said, not minding having to catch up so that they could walk side by side. A smile appeared on Kirishima's face, one that caused his cheeks to hurt. it was clear that it didn't take much to make him happy. Getting to hang out with Bakugo was always fun and a feeling of nervous excitement filled his body at the thought of skipping class. He was pumped to eat some pizza as well. All in all the day was looking to be fun. "How long are we going to stay out for?" he asked, managing to speak coherently and calmly enough, not wanting to risk somehow annoying the other.
A soft smile appeared on Bakugos face due to the fact that he knew the other was happy. "Well, maybe an hour or two." He said, unsure of what he had planned himself. Bakugo walked a little slower to match the other's pace. "We can go out to eat, and then come back to my place." He offered, slowly slipping his hand down to grab the redhead's.
Kirishima nodded along "sounds good to me! could we get ice cream if it's on the way?" he asked, trying to act natural as he interlaced their fingers together. though, the fact that his ears and cheeks were burning red wasn't the best indication that he was as calm as he was pretending to be. His heart was beating like crazy, at least he could hide it with a smile. What was going on? Was this normal? Was it normal for him to act this way? They were just holding hands after all.
Great, he didn't mean to make himself flustered. The blond looked the other way, in an attempt to hide his flaming red cheeks. "Yeah, whatever you want." He said, the tone of his voice shifting like sharp daggers getting worn down after time. "You better not take too long picking a flavor like last time." He added, managing to make eye contact with him again, a familiar smirk across his face.
Kirishima stifled a laugh, finding the others reaction to the simple action of hand holding to be both funny and cute for someone who acted so tough, even if he himself was freaking out moments ago. He had absolutely noticed the others blush but chose not to say anything, not wanting to embarrass the blond. "really? you're the best!" he beamed a smile as if he had won the lottery. "don't worry, I know what to get this time around so I promise not to take too long" the redhead let out a chuckle as he lightly swung their connected hands back and forth like it was 2nd nature. his ears were cooling down but pink was still dusted across his face
Just as the blond's face began returning to normal, the other's smile was just enough to make his face turn right back to bright pink. "Whatever, don't take it personally!" He said, as his thoughts started whirling around into one big mess. "God, Why do you have to be so damn- so damn- gah, ya know- cute?!" He said, fractionation filling his voice. Bakugo slapped his hand over his mouth the moment after the words flailed out of his mouth. "I- wait- don't-" He was at a loss for words, and as a result of the panic, he squeezed the other's hand tighter. "That's not what I meant!" the pomeranian said, the words flying out of his mouth. "Don't take it the wrong way!" His face was burning red at this point, he couldn't stop it from getting brighter even if he wanted it to.
Kirishima's face turned firetruck red in a snap, letting out a small laugh that was a mixture of amusement and slight nervousness. "I think you're cute too.. The red suits you by the way, it compliments the color of your eyes'' he teased good naturedly with a smile, squeezing the blonds hand lightly to show that he didn't mean any harm
The blond was relieved that the other seemed perfectly fine with what he had said. "Shut up-" Bakugo mumbled, embarrassed as heck and trying to rub it off. He took a few moments to contain himself before adding, "You're still cuter-" His face started to cool off as he felt his confidence come back. Unlike what had happened before, he didn't radiate the annoyed mood, on the other hand, he seemed to have enjoyed the redhead's comment. Just as he started to relax again, he managed to loosen the tight grip on the other's hand.
The redhead found the others' embarrassment to be adorable. For someone who acted all high and mighty, Bakugo sure was cute when flustered. "I politely disagree." Kirishima countered with a small smile, his face soon cooling back down as he let the moment pass. "I'm glad that the weather's sunny, last week the weather wasn't too great" he mentioned, looking up at the sky while continuing to swing their hands back and forth.
He almost disagreed with the other but stopped himself, not wanting to start an argument even if it would turn out to be a silly one. His pouty expression melted a little, and he nodded his head in agreement, "Shitty weather makes everything complete crap." The thought of the past few rainy days definitely didn't make him very happy. "Dumb rain sucks." He scoffed. The subject really annoyed him since he couldn't train at his fullest in the indoor training grounds.
The redhead leaned his head against the other's shoulder, a bit timid to do so as they walked. it felt easier to do these types of things when they were together, it felt natural. It was different when it was just the two of them, a good difference.
After a while of walking, the pair reached the crosswalk that was in front of the school, one that led to the main sidewalks for them to be able to find somewhere to eat.
