Chapter two! Yaaaaay! Enjoy, enjoy! Also, don't forget to review! THEY FEEL ME UP TO THE BRIM WITH DETERMINATION!

LOL! HAPPY HUNTING!XD

Poor Gus appreciated the time off, but just couldn't understand what was wrong with his best friend. He had tried to fish for information from both Shawn and the people around him, but Shawn would just put on a smile and say 'I'm fine' even though Gus could tell that he was lying, and everyone else didn't seem to notice his change. So, he went to the only other person who could see through Shawn's web of deceit.

"Hi there, Mr. Spencer." Gus greeted as Henry Spencer answered the door.

"Gus, it's my day off…" Henry said as he gestured to his casual outfit and fishing equipment.

"I know, I'm sorry, but it's about Shawn."

Henry stared at Gus as he contemplated if he should hear about his knucklehead of a son and what troublesome mess he committed, or go relax on a boat with his fishing gear and the soothing waves of the ocean. He finally gave out an exasperated sigh and invited Gus in, as he went to get them something to drink.

"So, what did that idiot do now?" Henry questioned the man who was practically his second son. He took a sip of his beer; goodness knows that he'll need it.

"Well…" Gus started from his seat at the couch. "Surprisingly…nothing."

"Nothing?"

"Nothing."

"…"

"…"

"Then what the hell am I doing here?!" He could've caught a couple of bass and maybe a few tunas by now, but no, he's sitting here with his kid's childhood friend.

"Just hear me out, Mr. Spencer!" Gus quickly cut in. "Shawn didn't do anything, but something has happened to him." Henry glared at him for a bit, before letting him continue. If something bad happened to his son, then he wanted to know.

"Okay, it all started the day after the government spy was caught. We had just left Declan's mansion and went about the rest of our day, but Shawn was really out of it."

"Out of it, how?" Henry questioned.

"He was mostly quite during the rest of the day; I was pretty much having a one-sided conversation with him. He picked at his food and seemed to be in some kind of a daze." Gus explained.

So far, it was weirdly strange behavior for his son. Despite not liking the skills that was drilled into him, he uses them on a daily basis, and a few of those skills are; always be on alert, be aware of your surroundings, and be wary of suspicious behavior. Shawn is always aware of what's going on around him at all times and is wary enough to not completely relax his guard unless he's in the safety of his own home. So it was strange that he was dazed. Let's also not forget that Shawn always likes to talk.

"Okay, What else?"

"Ever since the day after that incident with Devereaux, he seems to be in some kind of a depression. As you know, he asked for a few weeks off for us."

"Yeah, I'm the one who filed it." Henry did find it strangely sudden, but just wrote it off as Shawn being…well…Shawn.

"Yeah, well, despite us being on vacation, Shawn hasn't gone out or dragged me to go anywhere. He's just been sitting at home, or at Psych. He won't tell me what's wrong with him, he keeps showing me this fake smile that I am now positive that he's been showing others, because they didn't seem to realize that somethings wrong with him! He declines my invitations to go out. I even invited him to go swim with some dolphins and he still declined!"

"Swimming with dolphins?" Henry asked with confusion apparent on his face.

"I have some aquarium friends that said that they wouldn't mind me swimming with some of their marine animals. Anyways, that doesn't matter right now! Something's wrong with Shawn and I don't know what it is! Can you try talking to him, or figure out what's going on?"

Henry sighed. "Alright, alright. I'll go see if I can figure out what's wrong, okay."

...

Shawn was staring at the vanilla folders that were strewn about on his coffee table, inside those folders held some cases that some clients wanted solved. They weren't anything big; Evidence of my Husband/Wife cheating, missing kid that's been missing for less than twenty-four hours, evidence on a boss being abusive, etc. Nothing big.

'Maybe if I take them, then I can make myself get back into the swing of things.'

That's right, he can take on these cases and then be prepared to work at SBPD again in no time. He can go back to being the SBPD's Psychic Detective. He can rift off of Gus and get a slightly amused reaction off of the captain. He can annoy Lassiter again and make him rethink his life decisions. He can…joke with Juliet again…and see her beautiful smile that seemed to always brighten up his world.

Shawn felt wetness on his cheek, and quickly wiped at it with the sleeve of his hoodie. 'No more crying! It won't change anything…so enough…' He sniffled as more tears rolled down his face. 'I'm so pathetic.' He thought to himself as he wiped at the onslaught of tears.

"Shawn?" A familiar voice called as a knock came from the door. He knew right off the bat who it was, but he didn't know how he missed hearing the rusty truck parking. 'I'm seriously pathetic.' Shawn sighed as he rubbed his face. 'Here I am crying like a little kid who can't get what he wants, when there's a parked truck in front of my house. What if it wasn't my dad? How much trouble would I be in if he had been a cold-blooded murderer? I didn't even hear him get out of the car or even walk up to the door! What the hell is wrong with me?! I'm so pathetic! I'm-'

Shawn was suddenly jolted out of his self-loathing when another knock came from the door.

"Shawn? I know you're in there. Don't make me pick the lock." His dad threatened, but knowing him, it was more of a promise.

Shawn wiped at his face, making sure that there were no more traces of tears. Looking into a mirror that hung on his wall, he could see that his eyes were puffy and red. With no time to put ice on them, he quickly grabbed a pair of shades and answered the door with them in place.

"Hey, Dad." Shawn greeted.

"Hey, Shawn." Henry replied to his son as he pushed passed him.

"Okay. Yeah, sure, just come on in. Its not like I mind or anything." Said Shawn sarcastically as he closed the door.

"So, what's going on with you?"

"What?"

"Don't 'what' me. What's going on?" Henry questioned as he faced his son, but he was just met with confusion. "You ask for a few weeks off, you sulk around your house and office all day, you don't hang out with Gus anymore. What's going on?" Henry elaborated.

"Nothing. Nothing's going on. I just wanted some time to myself and work on some small cases for a bit. That's all." The fraud explained, but the older Spencer didn't believe it for a second.

"Is this because of Detective O'Hara?"

Shawn flinched at the mention of the woman who broke his heart, but quickly composed himself. "What are talking about? Juliet has nothing to do with me wanting some down time."

"Oh, so her asking me about you around the same time when you go into seclusion is completely unrelated."

"First of all, I'm not in seclusion."

"Sure, it isn't." Henry muttered as he rolled his eyes.

"It isn't! Now, as for Juliet questioning you about me, that could be a complete coincidence." Shawn argued.

"Nothing is a coincidence with you, Shawn!" Henry incredulously exclaimed. "Tell me what's going on Shawn. You've got both me and Gus worried." He finished softly, and Shawn could hear the genuine concern in his voice.

"You guys don't need to worry about me. I'm fine."

There was a moment of silence between the two men. Henry was trying to think of a way to get Shawn to talk, while Shawn was trying to figure out a way to convince his dad.

"Shawn." The older Spencer finally said.

"Yeah?" The psychic absentmindedly replied.

"Why do you have shades on?"

Shawn flinched again. "I had just came back from finishing a case when you came." He quickly lied.

Henry nodded his head. "Okay, then why haven't you taken them off?" The ex-officer questioned.

"Because they make me look like Al Pacino when he did Scarface." Shawn said matter-of-factly, but Henry just rolled his eyes.

"Take them off." He ordered. He was slowly losing his patients.

Seeing that his dad was through with the games, and that he had no where else to run, he reluctantly took off the only protection he had left.

Henry stared at the blood shot, puffy eyes of his son. "Shawn, what happened?" He asked softly.

"Nothing, dad." Shawn tiredly replied.

"Then why are your eyes so swollen?! Why have you been crying?! What happened?!" Henry finally exploded.

Another bout of silence. 'Should I tell him? No. It'll just sound stupid. A selfish idiot crying over someone he can never have for over a week. Pathetic.'

"Shawn."

Said man looked at his father whose face was full of concern and worry. "Just tell me…please."

Shawn sighed. "I got rejected…okay? That's all."

"By what Gus was saying, that wasn't all." Henry said as he maneuvered his son to sit on the couch. He sat next to him waited patiently for the downcast detective to reply.

It's really nothing." He finally said, but Henry just stared quietly. Shawn sighed again. "Juliet had kind of…kissed me…and we had this moment. She knew that I liked her, and I thought that we had a chance…but…she chose someone else…and I've been sitting around crying like a PATHETIC IDIOT! I-I EVEN…I even considered on quitting Psych…gods i'm pathetic…" He cried as his father rubbed his back soothingly.

Shawn felt so raw. He felt hurt for not being given a chance, happy that Juliet is happy, sad for not being the cause of her happiness, angry at himself for being so distraught and jealous at her happiness, and just all together exhausted for…everything.

He sobbed silently on his couch. People say that crying brings relief, but all it brought was more pain. He was so tired.

Shawn felt arms wine around him and a hand pushing him to a warm shoulder. With just that, he let it all out. The hurt, the anger, the pain, the sorrow, everything. He cried and cried as his father held him and patted his back reassuringly.

"It's going to be okay, son. You may feel lost and hopeless. Like you'll never find love again…but I assure you that that's not the case. You'll find love again, and this experience and all the ones beforehand, will make your relationship stronger. I promise."
