"So is Sasuke Shishou really Daisuke's father?" Boruto asked his parents at breakfast the next day
Naruto and Hinata shared a look and Himawari watched her parents carefully.
"Yes…" Naruto said finally "But…" he continued before Boruto could bombard him for more information "That shouldn't matter… Daisuke is your friend and who his parents are shouldn't change anything…"
"Except make it wayyy cooler!" Boruto blurted out excited
Himawari was still watching her parents.
"Anyway…" Hinata said "There is something else your Father and I wanted to talk to both of you about…" Hinata gave Naruto a look
"Ah… right… so…." Naruto said trying to find the right words
"Is this about Otu San being the next Hokage?" Himawari asked
"Well, yes… errr…. " Naruto said still trying to figure out how to say it
"Are you not becoming Hokage?" Himawari asked wryly
"What? No of-course I am…" Naruto said and then sighed "Okay, so as you both know from the monthly meetings, your mother is actually the princess of the Hyuga Clan, yes?" Boruto Shrugged and Himawari nodded "You also understand that your aunt Hanabi, while she makes all the decisions for the Clan, can still be overruled by your mother…"
"Really?" Boruto asked his mouth full "But why would mum want to do that?"
"I don't…" Hinata said with a smile "However, because of my status in the clan, the both of you are also quite…." She looked for the most modest possible word and said "…important… Once your father becomes Hokage, I will be the Hokage's wife… In doing that, I will be relinquishing any rights I have within the clan… However…"
"You're sending me away?" Himawari asked her intelligent eyes boring holes into her parents
"What?! Why? Where?!" Boruto asked worried
"Yes…" Hinata said her eyes tearing up "you have the Byakugan and I won't be able to teach you about it, the way way your should learn… and about everything else related to it…"
Himawari slammed her chopsticks on the table and walked away as Bortuo looked confused
"Hima…" Hinata said and went after her
"Dad? What's going on?" Boruto asked seriously putting down his chopsticks and staring at his father
"Once we move into the Hokage palace, your sister will be leaving us to live with aunt Hanabi to be raised in the ways of the Hyuga… You on the other hand will be trained by me personally in the ways of my mother's clan, the Uzumaki clan of which now you are the only surviving member…"
"Why can't Hima just live with us and visit aunt Hanabi?" Boruto asked
"It's so that she can be head of the clan when she is ready… She needs to live among them to earn their respect…" Naruto said sadly "however, she will be spending alternate weekends with us…" he said trying to lighten the mood
"This sucks… you being Hokage… sucks…" Boruto said and walked away to where his mother and sister were probably having the same discussion
Naruto sighed and looked at his rice bowl. He heard his head in his hands and muttered silently "Why is this so hard…"
Kurama spoke from within him "You can't have it all Naruto… You always have to sacrifice something…"
"You think he'll ever stop hating me?" Naruto asked Kurama
"He doesn't hate you… He's just unhappy because everything is changing…" Kurama said "He'll understand it better once he grows up… Besides, that Uchiha kid should be able to help him…"
"Daisuke is going through his own things right now…" Naruto said
"No… the older one…" Kurama said
"Sasuke?" Naruto asked
"Yes… tell that punk I said hi and I'm glad he's back on your side…" Kurama said "Now stop whining and get to work…"
Naruto smiled as Kurama went back to sleep. He got up and walked towards Himawari's room where Hinata was sitting holding both the children
"I'm sorry… I really am… I know this is hard, but while I love you all, you need to understand, this whole village is my family and I want to be there for everyone… that doesn't make you any less special or important…" Naruto said
Himawari sighed and walked up to her father. She hugged him and said "Then you'll have to be Hokage till I can become the head and make you miserable…"
Naruto smiled and hugged his daughter tightly saying "You can make me miserable any time my darling daughter… you are already the boss of me as far as I'm concerned…"
"I want my own room in the palace for the weekends that I come…" She mumbled tearfully into her father's shirt
"Anything you want…" Naruto said sniffling as Hinata smiled and Boruto scowled "besides… you're not leaving tomorrow… we still have two months to go…"
"And if you ever want to give up, know that we will not think less of you…" Hinata said
"I'm a ninja of Konoha, I have my father's will of fire… We never give up…" Himawari said wiping her tears and smiling at her father
"No… no we don't…" Naruto said
"Ya.. well I still hate it…" Boruto said
"You can sulk all you want… but you better be ready for the ass kicking I'm gonna give you after my first month of training…" Himawari said challenging her twin
"Pshh… I've been training with Sasuke Shishou forever! I'd kick you as any day day…" Boruto said
As the twins bickered Naruto looked at Hinata. She smiled as if to say everything will be all right and then suddenly her eyes went blank for a minute "Okay kids… I have to go… so please try not to kill your father while I'm gone…" She smiled Naruto and walked out
The twins were still busy bickering as Naruto and Hinata stepped out. "Everything okay?" He asked
"Sasuke has invited Sakura and Daisuke to tea with him as head of the clan… I need to go help her prepare" Hinata said smiling
"Do I need to beat him up?" Naruto asked
"Not yet…" Hinata smiled

Later that night as they were getting ready for bed, Hinata told him everything that had transpired in the Uchiha household
"Teme is being smooth…" Naruto said chuckling
"Sakura Chan is going to fall for him again…" Hinata said smiling in agreement
"Arigatou Hinata…" Naruto said tucking a stray lock of hair behind his wife's ear. "… For treating my friends like family…"
Hinata blushed as Naruto leaned in for a kiss. As the kiss deepened Naruto lowered his wife onto the bed. The lights dimmed as the moans of their love making grew louder. They kissed and nibbled and traced the bodies of each other in the moonlight. They reached ecstasy together multiple times before they finally finished. Naruto stroked her hair as she lay on his chest and for that night, the two of them were just lovers. No expectations, no responsibilities, no clans or village, just a man and his woman who weren't whole without each other.

The next day Sasuke handed Sakura a key to a safe in his room. He told her to spare no expense in anything she needed and left. As Sakura emerged, there were 12 people waiting for her command. She was a little terrified but then as instructed by Sasuke, Baasan helped her out in understand what was expected of her. Slowly over the week Sakura added a woman's touch to the house and got to know the help. While she was sure she wouldn't get used to it, she was also secretly grateful that she had the help. Between setting up the house, taking care of Daisuke and avoiding Sasuke, she was sure she would have lost her marbles without Baasan's help. The older lady had been part of the Hyuga household for a long time. She was not just there to help Sakura but also to train her in the duties of the head matriarch.
"I like her…" Baasan said to Sasuke in private one night as she updated him on the day's progress once he was back from work
"I thought you might…" Sasuke said taking off his armour smiling lightly "How is Daisuke"
"He is fine… He can't wait for the lessons with you…" Baasan said and then added "I took the liberty of showing Sakura the Library so that she could organise it…"
"That's not in the east wing… she doesn't need to do it.." Sasuke said
"She didn't seem to mind…" Baasan said smirking slightly
"Don't push her… It was hard enough convincing her to stay…" Sasuke said slipping into a more comfortable Samue behind the screen
"I won't, but she didn't mind setting up the whole house… Didn't even want a second kitchen… said that would be a waste of space…" Baasan smiled
Sasuke looked at her seriously "I've known you for a long time Baasan… I know what you are capable of… but just don't… please… The last thing I need is for Sakura to feel like I'm manipulating her…"
"I'm not a miracle worker Sasu Chan… I can't create something that isn't there…" Baasan said taking his swords and handing them off to a manservant to sharpen and clean "She is not unhappy here… "
"She's not happy either…" he said sighing
"Well she remembers your favourites in any case…" Baasan said as one of the women brought in a tray of food placed it on a table and left "She decided the menu today… no help from me at all.."
Sasuke turned to look at it. It was simple - rice, soup and three dishes - and yet, it was his all his favourites - aka miso soup, horenso no goma ae, Gyutan and Kawa Yakitori. Sasuke smiled a little as he sat down "Have they eaten?"
"Yes… enjoy your dinner Uchiha Sama…" She said bowing slightly and leaving Sasuke who was giving a soft smile to the table set in front of him
