Firewing sat at her desk looking at the terminal in front of her. She had been back with the Autobots for about a week now; settling back into her role as security officer nicely, and everyday seemed more boring than the last. All she seemed to do was work, there was no fun. She missed the daily leisure flights with the seekers and the sparring matches with the ground based mechs. And, although she never thought she'd her herself say it, she missed Skywarps pranks. But most of all… She missed Megatron. Her berth just seemed cold and large without him.
Her thoughts were interrupted as she heard a knock on her office door. She sighed, before calling out. "Come in". She almost growled as Sentinel Prime marched in, followed closely by a small mech she'd never seen before. "Sentinel, sir" she ground out as respectfully as she could. "What can I do for you?"
The Prime walked up to her desk, now standing right in front of it. "Firewing, I'm sorry I haven't had the chance to come and see you till now" he started. "I'm so glad to have you back" she knew that was a lie. "I never got the chance to ask. How did you manage to escape the Decepticon base?"
Firewing knew this question would come up eventually, but had been fully prepared for it. "Power surge knocked out the main power for most of the base" she started, leaning back in her chair a little. "When the cell door powered down, I took the opportunity" she lied so easily, having gone through this story multiply times with Megatron; until even he believed it. "I was able to use their confusion to make a hasty and unnoticed escape. It wasn't until I was away from their base did the seekers show up"
"So they sent the seekers after you once they realised you were gone?"
"I'd say so, sir" Firewing tried to speak with respect toward the mech, but all she wanted to do was rip his helm off right now. "I'd say after they dealt with the power surge, they probably checked my cell. When they saw I wasn't there, Megatron must have ordered the seekers to pursue".
Sentinel thought for a moment, one servo coming up to scratch his chin. "Sounds like the power surge happened at the most opportune time" he stated, his servo dropping to his side.
"I was very lucky" the femme lied again.
"Alright" the mech started, before turning slightly, pulling the smaller mech forward. "With that out of the way, I'd like to introduce you to Cobalt" he stated, bringing the smaller dark blue and white mech to stand directly in front of the femme.
She noticed that he was shorter than most of the Autobots she'd met, only just barely the same height as her. His armour mainly dark; cobalt, blue with white accents. But it was his optics that stood out to the femme; they were the most gorgeous shade of violet she had ever seen. An unusual colour for an Autobot. She thought.
Suddenly, she was brought back to reality as the mech in front of her spoke. "It's a pleasure to meet you" he said so softly, almost nervously.
"He will be you're assistant for the foreseeable future" the Prime stated, as he turned towards the door. "Take care of him"
Firewing didn't have the chance to oppose as the Prime walked out the door. She growled quietly at the unfairness of the situation. She now had to be more careful with her mission now, as she didn't want to get caught before her mission was up. "Cobalt is it?" she asked, standing to walk towards the, still open, door. "I'm Firewing. I guess you and I will be working closely" she finished as she closed the door. "Take a seat, I'll show you what needs to be done" she flopped back into her chair, as the small blue mech took up a seat next to her. "You know much about security youngling?"
"Yeah" he answered nervously. "My mentor had me training with the security team in the academy" he stated.
Firewing nodded as she turned to the terminal. "Well our systems are pretty straight forward" she started, as she went through the bases security systems.

Firewing sat watching the young mech on the terminal. After showing him all the basics about the Autobots security system, she let him on to test his knowledge. She watched as he worked through the simulation she'd set out for him, his face scrunched in concentration, the tip of his glossa poking out the side of his mouth in the most adorable way. She almost giggled at the sight. "That's the five minute mark, youngling"
"I'm done" he said, as he finished the simulation in record time.
Firewing almost fell off her chair. She had never met anyone who could finish that in under ten minutes, yet here sat a youngling; probably half her age, finished it in five. She got up and walked towards the terminal to look at his result. She was shocked not only at how short of a time it took, but also by how he managed to complete it. "Well done youngling" she started, punching in another, more challenging simulation. "Try this one". She made a mental note to tell Megatron next time she spoke to him; which would probably be later that night, about this younglings talent. They would have to be weary of him as he got higher in rank. She knew the Autobots would use this mech for their own gain. She sat back down, watching carefully as the blue mech started the new simulation.

"He's incredible" Firewing spoke into the communicator. "I've never seen anything like it. He blitzed the simulations like they were nothing" she continued, her voice giving away both worry and amazement.
Megatron thought for a moment. "It sounds like this young mech would give Soundwave a run for his credits" he stated.
"And then some" the femme said. "He finished the level 10 simulation, on the highest setting in less than half the time as any other bot" her weariness of the mech becoming evident, knowing that this mech could turn the tide of the war if he were to stay with the Autobots. "I don't even think Soundwave could have done that in such a short amount of time"
Megatron frowned slightly. The Decepticons already had enough trouble keeping the Autobots at bay now, if they had a mech like that in a position of power, it could spell disaster for them. "Sounds like we may have a problem"
"Yeah" the femme lent back slightly. "But he doesn't look like most Autobots" she started, before sending the picture; that she had only just remembered she'd taken, to the silver mech. "He has the most gorgeous optics"
Megatrons optics almost bulged as he looked at the photo before him. "By primus" he whispered, causing the femme to pay attention. "He looks just like his sire"
"You know him?" she asked, taken back by the mechs statement.
"I knew his sire well… Aquamarine and I were close friends growing up" he started, though the femme could tell this wasn't going to be a feel good story. "He was my closest friend and greatest ally… Until he was offlined" he barely whispered the last part, but the femme heard it.
"I'm so sorry" she said, suddenly wishing she could comfort the larger mech. "I wish there was something I could do"
"Just knowing you care is enough my dear" he admitted, causing the femme to blush.
