Megatron stood in the command centre, smile still not leaving his faceplates. It had been four weeks since they found out that Firewing was carrying, and it was the talk of the base. Everyone was excited with the prospect of a sparkling running around. He sighed happily as he remembered the emotions he felt the day he found out he was to be a sire, his processor going back to that fateful day four weeks ago. He had been so scared when he felt Firewing go down, but then to find out she was carrying, that was one of the happiest moments of his life.

Suddenly the doors opened to allow Firewing to enter. "Femme in the house" she said, causing some of the mechs to chuckle.

"Hello my dear" Megatron said, as he took her servo in his own, bringing it up to kiss the back of it. "How are you today?" he asked, optics going to her abdomen, that was starting to bulge a little. He knew that she had only about two months to go, as Cybertronians only gestated for about four months, and she looked radiant.

"I'm fine. Little one is starting to move, which is an odd feeling" she commented, a servo going to her abdomen above where her gestation tank was. "I have an appointment to see Hook tomorrow, to find out the gender. Will you be joining me?" she asked, her servo lacing with his.

"I wouldn't miss it my dear" the large mech said, as he brought her servo to his lips again. Suddenly there was an alarm on one of the screens, reluctantly Megatron let go of the femmes hand to step forward. "What is it?" he asked the nearest soldier.

"It's the Autobots sir. They are in our territory… I believe they are preparing to attack" the bot said in a panicked tone.

Megatron was confused, he never expected Sentinel to attack the Decepticon base head on. "Starscream, get the forces organised. We need to strike back" he said, as he turned to the red seeker, his servo coming to cup her faceplates. "I'll be back my dear. I promise" he said, before running out of the command centre.

Firewing watched the mechs run out of the command centre, leaving only a few behind and her in charge. "Cobalt, I need you in the command centre" she commed the blue mech.

"On my way" came the reply.

She watched the screens, watching as the Decepticons made their way out to the battle field. "Bring up all external camera feeds to the south of the base" she ordered, gaining a 'yes ma'am' in response. She watched as the feeds came up on the screens, showing a full view of the battle.

The femme barely noticed as Cobalt came running in. "How can I help?" he asked, coming to stand next to the femme.

"I need you at that console" she said, pointing to the console that was left emptied as one of the soldiers joined the battle. .

"Yes ma'am" he answered, as he jumped into the vacant chair.

Firewing watched the screens, keeping an optic on everything happening, making sure to keep track of the Autobot soldiers. "Starscream, you've got enemy soldiers flanking from the right. Take them down" she commed the seeker commander.

"On it" he replied.

The femme watched as the seekers descended on the enemy, ensuring they couldn't perform the flank manoeuvre, though she would realise too late that it was a diversion. She was watching all the screens, keeping an optic on everything happening when she realised, she couldn't see Megatron and Sentinel. "Where is Megatron?" she asked, stepping towards the monitors. "Where is Sentinel?"

The mech in front of her scrambled to try to find the two leaders. "I'm not sure ma'am" the mech said, moving the camera around. "I'll try to access Lazerbeaks feeds" the mech said, as he started typing on the keyboard.

Firewing began to panic, not knowing where the two leaders were. "We have to…" she suddenly stopped as pain ripped through her chestplates. She screamed as her knees buckled, causing her to lean on the monitor.

"Firewing" Cobalt yelled as he shot out of his seat, moving towards the femme. "Call Scalpel" he said.

Firewing growled. "No" she sent a wave of love through the bond before blocking it, pain suddenly disappearing. "It's not me" she said. "It's his pain".

Suddenly Starscreams voice rippled through the command centre. "Megatron's down. I repeat; Megatron is down"

Firewing stood up before growling dangerously. She now realised that the flank manoeuvre that she had warned Starscream about, was to draw the seekers away from their leader. "Shattershot, you're in charge" she said, before turning towards the door.

She suddenly stopped as she heard Cobalt ask where she was going. She turned to him, optics blazing with fury and fear. "I'm going to rescue my mate; you can come with me if you like… Just don't try to stop me" she said, before darting out the door, Cobalt close behind.

Megatron groaned as pain flared through his systems, his servo clutching desperately at the wound on his chestplates. He had realised too late that his rival had been drawing the rest of his Cons away from him to attempt to overpower him. He had not expected to cheap shot out of nowhere, and certainly had not expected the shot to the chest. He roared painfully as Sentinel pushed a digit into the wound, chuckling maliciously as he did.

"Now Megatron, what to do with you?" the Prime asked, digit digging in deeper, causing the larger mech to grit his denta. "Take your helm as a trophy. Perhaps melt you down for spare parts" the mech cackled as his digit finally left the wound. "Or perhaps just slit your throat now" he growled, preparing to deal the final blow when suddenly a shot came from nowhere, knocking him away from his prey.

Firewing twisted midair, landing heavily on her pedes just in front of the downed mech. She glanced back at him, watching as Cobalt went straight to the silver mechs side, before turning back to the Autobot leader. "Perhaps next time you want to offline a mech… Don't monologue first" she growled as she flared her wings angrily.

Sentinel growled as he rose to his pedes. "Firewing, I should have known" he growled, sword out at the ready. "I'll just have to offline you to" he said, as he stalked forward.

"You can try" the femme said, as she brought her own sword from her subspace.

The fight that ensued was not only vicious but it was violent as well. Though it became obvious quite quickly that Firewing had an advantage; her smaller size, speed and flight capability made it easy to get the upper servo over her opponent. She feigned left before darting to the right, sword swinging up, but the Prime swung his catching hers, throwing it away from her. Firewing growled as she kicked left, making him block, before spinning on the ball of her pede, bringing her pede around to the right catching the Prime in the faceplates, sending him sprawling to the ground. She stalked towards her downed opponent, bringing her knife out of her subspace. She jumped on the downed mech, knife finding a spot in his shoulder, causing him to cry out in pain. She brought the knife up again, and was just about to slam it back down when suddenly…

"Firewing"

Her optics widened at the sound of her mates pained voice. She looked down at the mech below her, his faceplates filled with pain. She suddenly lowered her knife, returning it to subspace. "Take your forces and leave… And don't ever come back" she hissed, as she stood.

Sentinel stood up, picking his sword up as he did. His shoulder leaking profusely from where she'd stabbed him. "Autobots, fall back" he called out, before transforming and taking off.

She watched the Autobot forces leave before turning to her mate. "Megatron" she whispered, dropping to her knees next to him.

"What… Are you… Doing here?" he asked, through the pain.

"I couldn't stand by and watch Sentinel hurt you" she said, servos grabbing his gently.

Suddenly she heard Hook yell 'Out of my way' as he pushed past everyone else; who she hadn't realised had arrived. Firewing whimpered as she watched the medic work.

"You shou… Shouldn't have come" Megatron said weakly. "But I'm… Glad you did" he finished.

"Save your strength sir" the medic said, as he scanned the larger mech.

Firewing felt Megatrons servo tighten around her own. "I need you… To lead now. I need you to be strong" he whispered, before his helm dropped his systems shutting down slowly.

Firewing leant forward, her servo cupping his faceplates. "Please, don't leave me" she said, as tears began to fall from her optics.
