T.V. here, This is the chapter I have written myself. I do have a small outline and plot point to follow for the story. I hope I can do justice for all of you.

Janine Hathaway

"I took a shuddered breath as Rose walked out of Ellen's office. I was struggling to keep my emotions held in at the moment. I had locked them away for so many years in order to carry on with my duties. I envied the human population. The men and women were able to have such a balanced life. They had jobs, and steady homes for years. It allowed them to spend so much time with their children, partners, and friends. We had a job to do, though. Not only did we protect the Moroi, but we kept the Strigoi at bay the best we could. Humans had such carefree lives, because we kept this world hidden from them.

"What are your plans, Ellen? We almost lost those children. If it wasn't for" I stopped speaking to stare out the window. I saw what had happened, I knew what Vasilissa had done. Bertie and I both had watched that scene. It played over and over in my mind. The Ozera boy would have been dead if not for the Dragomir Princess. "If it wasn't for the Princess, we most certainly would have lost the Moroi boy."

"I don't know Janine. I've been on calls with members at Court since I left the hospital. They are sending some very well read scholars here. Supposedly they have access to knowledge of our history that most of the Moroi have never seen. I honestly don't know what this means for the children, especially Rose and Vasilissa. I do know, we need to protect them both more than ever. We can not allow anything like Victor Dashkov to exploit them again."

"Ellen how did it even come to this point? How could one of our own be so cruel. My daughter spent vacations in Dashkov's presence growing up. Rhea and Eric sent me pictures and letters about Rose when she vacationed with them. How could this happen right under your nose?" I asked more pointedly. It was nearing three years now that Rose and Vasilissa had been living a nightmare they could not share. Three years of what this school had deemed nothing but teenager angst and bullying.

"I know, and I am very sorry, Janine. I cannot express how much sorrow I have over this whole ordeal. If I had ever had one inkling of what was truly happening, I swear to you the other night would never have came to pass." Ellen said. Gone was her cutthroat personality. She was shaken. No one had ever seen Ellen Kirova emotions effected to this extent. She was a woman of steel, a woman who showed even less emotion than the best of any Dhampir. I suppose after nearly 30 years of dealing with our youth, it had taken a toll on her. Still with all of the adult faculty and Guardians at this school someone should have noticed what was happening. Someone should have been trustworthy enough for those girls to speak to. Some one should have protected my daughter.

"The sad truth was, I should have been that person. I should have been someone that Rose could have turned to. I should have gone with my heart all those years ago and fought against Abe and stayed a more stable part of Rose's life. I could have taken a position at a school and been there, with Rose close by. I was just as much blame as this school was.

"Go find Rose, Janine. I've dealt with plenty of parents and can read it all over your face. You're worried." Ellen said quietly, looking out the window at the children running carefree through out the court yard.

"For many reasons" I replied as I stood, expelling the breath, I didn't realize I was holding. Leaving Ellen's office, I headed towards the Guardian Headquarters. There was a small underground detainment center beneath the offices. I knew that is where I would find the monster responsible for the pain and suffering that both my daughter and my charge had suffered. I would get the answers I wanted, and Victor Dashkov would be lucky if he ever left this school alive. He would pay for every form of abuse and torture those girls had suffered all these years. If I couldn't get around the guards to enact my revenge, I knew just the man who could. He had his ways, and they were very effective. Victor would be left wishing that I had been his judge, jury, and punisher if Ibrahim was to get involved.

Dimitri Belikov

I left Rose standing in the hallway outside of the headmistress' office. Rose had become an obsession to me. I cared more for her than my family or even Ivan. I was willing to die in order to keep her safe, for my own selfish reasons. I couldn't allow for this. I couldn't loose everything I had worked so hard for. I would probably love Rose for a long time, but over time I hoped my feelings with diminish. What could really come of a romance for a Dhampir. After graduation, she would most likely be assigned to the Princess. Ivan and I still had hopes I would be assigned to him. I would go back to Russia and Rose would follow Lissa to wherever she went. We would never see one another again except maybe in a few passing moments. Perhaps a royal wedding here and there. That is not the life Rose deserved. She shouldn't be straddled to another Dhampir, left wondering when our next stolen moments could be. I would rather break her heart now, when I could secretly watch out for her from the shadows, than do it later. Whether it was circumstances or death, Rose and I were headed for nothing but heartbreak. It was better knowing that Rose was somewhere safe, hating me until I was nothing more than a distant memory, than if I left her heartbroken after dying somewhere protecting a Moroi. Perhaps, over time, she would understand.

I slipped around the corner waiting for Rose to leave the building. I knew she would do one of two things: Seek shelter with the Princess until her emotions settled, or do something stupid and reckless. I only had to wait a few minutes to see that chose the latter of the two. I kept a good distance behind her, staying close to the buildings and shadows. She was heading toward Guardian Headquarters. I knew her mother hadn't left Kirova's office yet and wouldn't be there. Why would she go there? Perhaps she was delivering a message? No, Kirova or Guardian Hathaway would have just phoned in any requests or messages. Then why? What could be there that had Rose so steadfast in her gait, that she hadn't even noticed she was being followed.

"Then it hit me. I was certain that just like St Basil's, this academy also had a small prison. It would be the most logical place to have locked away Victor Dashkov until authorities from Court could whisk him away to a more secure setting. This was not a good. Of all the plans Rose could have came up with, visiting Victor Dashkov was the last one I would have guessed.

I watched as Rose entered the building, and watching from outside the large windows, I saw her talking with the receptionist. A few moments later, a Guardian appeared and walked with Rose to the elevator. I decided to wait until she returned and sat down on one of the iron benches along the sidewalk. I sat looking at the ground, the grass was beginning to turn and leaves spotted the ground here and there. Picking up a lone, still green blade of grass, I ran it between my fingers. I had time to contemplate Rose. Her mind wasn't like others. In so many ways she was more mature than others of our peers. We shared that commonality between us. Were we mature enough to handle what life would bring us, though? I wasn't sure. We only had but a few months left of our childhood. A few months between the ability to act as carefree teenagers and being charged with keeping others alive and safe. Most Guardians were lost during the first few years after graduation. It was a fact drilled into us. We must always be alert. We must do everything we can to overcome the evils of the world and protect the life of the Moroi. We only had too few months left between facing life and death. Perhaps if we were older and had survived those first few years, things could be different. We would be seasoned Guardians. We would better know our world and could form a relationship according to how our lives had worked out. At this time in our lives, there were just too many unknowns that could leave one or both of us devastated if we carried on.

"Belikov, what are you doing here? Isn't Rose with you?" Guardian Hathaway cut through my thoughts. A little startled, I looked up at her.

"No, I followed her here." I explained. "I think she is trying to talk to Prince Dashkov."

"Of all the foolishness!" Guardian Hathaway murmured. "I was on my way there myself. I'm sure she is okay." She then assured me, or maybe herself.

"Guardian Hathaway, I think it's my fault that Rose came here." I told her sheepishly.

"Belicov, Rose is stubborn. She would have came here at some point. She doesn't let people sway her easily. Why would you think you are at fault?"

"Because I," I began to tell her, but was interrupted by her handheld chirping to life.

"All Campass Guardians be on alert. We have unverified claims of Strigoi on campus. Repeat,"

I tuned everything out, springing up from my seat. This couldn't be happening again. I looked through the window again towards the elevator, but everything seemed peaceful inside.

"I'm going to get Rose, then I need to help the others. Go to your dorm and stay there. Don't upset the other students though. I'm sure they're trying to take care of this quietly." Guardian Hathaway demanded.

"Can I go with you? I'll take Rose back to the dorms with me?" I asked. Guardian Hathaway blinked in thought before nodding and nudging be to stay behind her.

We entered the building and I noticed how quiet it was for such a usually busy area. I guess the Guardians were busy elsewhere. Even the receptionist was not at her usual post. Guardian Hathaway frowned at something behind the desk, before quickening her pace to a near run. Taking another step forward, I saw the receptionist in the floor with a bloodied neck. Passed out or dead. I swallowed roughly and caught up to Guardian Hathaway at the elevator.

"Belikov, stay close." She murmured as we waited. " here, I'm hoping it won't be needed." She continued as she passed me her extra stake. I started to comment, but the elevator dinged and the doors opened.

I don't know what hit me the most, relief that the elevator had finally arrived or dread upon seeing it empty. A small part of me was hoping Rose would emerge from within once the doors opened.

I hurried inside, dragging the Belikov boy with me. I felt in my stomach it was a mistake to allow him to come along. I should have sent him on his way. The idea of Rose going to the dorms instead of being alone in guest housing had appealed to me though. I shoved the button for the basement level quite harshly, before giving it a quick jab for good measure. I held my breath for the entire minute ride down.

I pushed the Belikov boy behind me as the doors began to open once more, allowing my Dhampir senses to take over. The room was quiet with the exception of one leering female voice. A voice that didn't belong to anyone I recognized off hand.

"Stay here." I whispered before slinking out of the elevator and to the railing of the platform. A half floor below me was the scene even worse than the one I had been dreading. The two Guardians on watch duty lay in the floor, possibly dead.

"Roza," I heard whispered from just behind me. I started to chastise the boy but seeing his eyes trained on most likely my daughter, I followed his gaze. Rose was pinned in the corner of the room. A stake laid just out of reach. Inhaling quickly I jumped into action, flying over the railing.

"Daddy said you would be easy to get rid of." The strigoi leered as she wrapped her hand around Rose's throat. I was halfway across the room when I noticed a second Strigoi just feet from me. I needed to get to Rose, I thought as the male strigoi launched himself at me. He was newly made. It made him stronger, but less coordinated. I staked him quickly enough and spun back towards Rose.

Rose was still on the ground, but the Belikov boy was squaring off with the female Strigoi. Victor's daughter, I processed as I rushed over, staking her from behind in her distracted state. "Dashkov escaped." Belikov yelled as we rushed to Rose.

I kissed my daughters head before telling him to get her to the infirmary. I then took off in pursuit of Victor. He had definitely made his deathbed and it was time he met his end.
