"Ah Minerva, more first years?" The man behind the bar asked Professor McGonagall.
"Yes, Tom. You don't mind, do you?" Professor McGonagall asked the bartender Tom as we now knew him to be.
"You know I don't, Minerva. Have a good term you two."
"I thank thee, good sir," Thackery said grinning. This startled the barkeep but he just shrugged it off. As Professor McGonagall lead us to the back storages room and took out what I assumed to be her wand. Thackery, on reflex, grabbed me and pulled me behind him. Professor McGonagall sighed at his protectiveness of me, but turned around facing the farthest wall from us and taped some of the bricks, two up and thee across. With that, the bricks started to wiggle and soon transformed into an archway leading into a large ally, with many different shops that sold everything we will need and want for school.
"First things first, the bank to get your inheritance tests, and money to pay for your things."
"What does the inheritance test for?" I asked curiously.
"And what does it entail?" Thackery asked cautiously. I didn't blame him. After being turned into a black cat by three witches for three hundred years, how can you? If I was him, I wouldn't instantly trust anyone here either. So, I just gave his hand a small squeeze. He turned to me shocked then when he saw it was just me, he too gave me a small smile in return. Professor McGonagall also gave him a small smile in reassurance.
"It's nothing like what the two of you have experienced in the past, Mr. Binx. Just a prick of the finger, three drops in a basin of a position that will help the goblins at our bank Gringotts tell us things such as:
What natural abilities you were born with.
If you have any enchantments on you that you shouldn't.
Who you were born to.
If you were blood adopted by people and if it was illegal or not."
"What would happen to us if it was illegal?" I asked very concerned for my well-being. Professor McGonagall gave me a small smile, but then it turned to a frown.
"I'd have to have the goblins block your magical core, take you home, then ripe your memory of the magical world completely... including Thackery. It would not be something I would be wanting to do but would have to. Do you understand my dear? That goes for Thackery as well. However, I dought that will happen to either of you." She explained to us. We both sighed with relief at the sound that it was probably not in the cards today.
"What about being blood adopted by an Archangel would that constitute as illegal, ma'am?" Thackery asked just as concerned about what was about to happen as I was. At this Professor, McGonagall stopped dead.
"Why do you ask?"
"Um, just curious..." Thackery said scared of her reaction to the truth. Professor McGonagall hummed at his answer as of she did not believe him but said nothing on it.
"Well, it is rumored that the Archangels are where the witches and wizards of today originally got their powers. So, to answer your question, I'm not one hundred percent sure of the answer. If it turns out that you were Blood adopted by one, then we'd have to let the lawmakers or the Wizardmont, decide from there. If that comes to pass, let us hope it gets passed before the start of the term. If not you'll have to wait for next year to start I'm afraid. I would hate to separate the two of you. Now, here we are." we were so busy talking asking questions that I hadn't realized that we had arrived at a large white building at the end of the Alleyway. Two small quite scary-looking creatures stood on either side of the entryway of the bank they both bowed us in. Not wanting to be rude to the goblins, Thackery and I both bowed back. This seemed to shock them but they each fave us a sharp-toothed grin each. Many of the goblins bowed to us and we continued to bow back. Because of this, it took us a while to catch up with Professor McGonagall, who was already at the head teller, who just grinned at us when we finally did catch up to her. She didn't look too happy but the goblin waved off her apology, saying he 'has never seen such politeness from two eleven-year-olds in all his years.' We just smile up at him and thank him bowing to him as well. Which made him chuckle.
"Come along, children. I do believe the king would like to meet the two of you. Also, I believe you need an inheritance test done for the two of them correct, professor?" The goblin asked.
"Yes, please. And thank you." Professor McGonagall said clearly in a state of shock. Of course, so were we. We were about to go visit the king of goblins. We had looked down at our clothes in worry. The teller laughed.
"Do not worry, my friends. He will not care, once he knows why, of course." We were shocked and confused but just nodded nonetheless. At that, the goblin lead us down a side hallway towards what looked like a very heavy door. Of course, it opened on its own, thanks to, I guessed, an enchantment that was on it. The goblin bowed to another goblin that was sitting on a throne. We followed the goblin's example without even thinking. The Goblin King raised an eyebrow at the gesture.
"I don't even need an explanation, my teller. Leave us. I will handle this children's bank business from here."
"Of course, my king." The teller said getting up off his knees and quickly leaving the room.
"Now, what business do you have at my bank?"
"With all due respect, sir, we need an inheritance test for each of us, and if our tests allow it, retrieve money for our school supplies." The king smiled and nodded.
"I see, I think we can do all of that and more my dear." He said waving us to follow him to yet another room. This room appeared to be his office. He saved his hand and two basins appeared along with two very sharp, small knives. At the sight of the knives, Thackery gulped in fear. I took his hand and gave it a small squeeze.
"Remember what Professor McGonagall said, nothing to be afraid of. They won't harm you like the Sanderson Sisters once did." I said in what I thought was a whisper. When in fact the Goblin King heard every word.
"Sorry my dear, but did you say the Sanderson Sisters?" Ge asked me with very wide and scared eyes. I looked at the King, then at my feet, before back at the king and nodding.
"Yes sir. Will that cause any problems with the test?"
"Not technically, no. However, I must ask is he scare because of the ritual knife?"
"I'm afraid so, sir. Is there any other way to get the results, accurately?" I asked. The King sighed.
"We could use a strand of his hair, however, it will not give us everything we need on the test for schools, such as blood adoptions and such." This concerned us. We looked at each other. Thackeray took a deep breath.
"I have a question if she were to prick my finger for their would it be okay."
"Yes, we normally allow those taking the test to do it themselves anyways to not ruin the test results, we're you afraid, I was the one to cut your finger. My dear boy, that's not how it's done, you, your parent or guardian, or in this case someone you trust...would do it, never a goblin. If a goblin was to do it for you, then the test results would be ruined. Do you understand?" At hearing this, Thackery brightened up, sitting in one of the chairs, and took one of the ritual-knives, but did nothing with it until I had done the same. We, like with the letters, counted and cut our fingers slightly at the same time and dripped three drops of our blood into our basins. The King at that point took two long pieces of what looked like parchment and dipped them into the basins. We had to wait for three minutes for the parchment to gather the information it needed from the potion basin and our blood. Once the three minutes were up. The King took the parchment out of the basins and we had to wait three more minutes to let it dry completely. Once all was done, the king looked at each piece of parchment at the top and handed us ours. I looked at mine first:

Once I read through Thackery's inheritance test at least three times I put it down on the King's desk. The king just took it and read it more thoroughly this time before he got up and walked over to the fireplace, grabbed a handful of some sort of powder, and threw it into the lit fire saying "Madam Bones, Head of The Department of Magical Law Enforcement office." The King waited for a few moments before a women's face appeared in the flames. She seemed upset at first until she realized it was the Goblin King.
"Yes, Sir. What seems to be the issue?" The King sighed and simply looked back at where we were sitting.
"I have two first year's in my office at the moment, would you mind, terribly coming through to meet them? I just did their inheritance test and we might have a bit of a problem with one, legally speaking." At that the woman who I'm guessing to be Madam Bones, her eyes got wide then narrowed in determination and nodded. The King stepped away from the fireplace a few passes and suddenly the woman from the fire was standing there. Thackery got up and tried to pull me behind him once more, as he did with Professor McGonagall when she first took out her wand. The King noticing his behavior quickly explained to Madam Bones his fear of different types of magic. The lady just nodded with an understanding look on her face.
"Now, which one of you has a possible illegal item on their inheritance test?" she asked as soothingly as I'm sure she could. Thackery still a little on edge, raised his hand to indicate it was him. She just nodded. "Am I to assume correctly that you are the one known as Thackery Binx then?"
"Yes madam, that is me," He said as calmly as he could.
"Well, in that case... Let us see who or what the legal problem is."
"I was blood adopted by an Archangel a year ago, madam." He answered as she took ahold of his test to examine it. She looked at once and looked up at us, shocked.
"Dear me, I'm afraid. This is officially out of my hand completely. We'll have to take this to the Wizardingmont, have either of you started your school shopping yet?"
"Nay, not yet."
"Good. You brought you here. Surely you did not come here alone?"
"No madam we did not, Professor McGonagall is most likely waiting for us right now, and quite worried about what's taking so very long." I said not wanting to cause, Professor McGonagall stress. Madam Bones simply nodded. Took out her wand and swung it around reducing a silver substance that soon turned into a fox (Read: Not entirely sure if this is her true patrons, but please go with it). She then told the fox to find Professor McGonagall and tell her that madam Bones has to take the two of us to the Ministery of Magic's Wizardingmont immediately and get some things taken care of there then she will make sure that we will get our school supplies as needed before term starts on September 1st. The fox simply nodded and pranced off to find Professor McGonagall. With that taken care of. She bowed to the king as we did, grabbed some of the same powder as before, gently took us by our upper arms, and walked through the now green flames.
