Cassie Blake was staring at the lit fireplace before she put it out and went to her room where she kept the papers on the Balcoin Family tree. She got them from her drawer and pulled them out of the envelope they were in. Looking at them, she started thinking about her other sister. What was she like? Does she have a boyfriend? Is she okay? What has her life been like? Is she about to graduate high school? What would her mom say if Cassie showed up? How would her sister react? Would she embrace her instantly or push her away? Is she able to meet her? Where does she live? Does she know Cassie is her sister? Would she act like Diana and deny her abilities or would she accept them?
So many questions was making her head hurt, so she went to the kitchen for a drink and sighed. Maybe a nice long bath and some reading will help, She thought. Since the circle decided to go their seperate ways, she felt more alone than ever compared to when she first arrived in Chance Harbor or when she and her mother relocated every so often that she never had the chance to make friends. Now she feels disconnected from everyone, not just the circle. She tried being friends with Sally and that didn't work at all, but that was because she had the circle before Nick died, before she learned she and Diana are sisters, before John Blackwell made the circle's bond break after trying to kill most of them to get what he wanted. He was partially responsible for her losing the only friends she had. Sure, she and Faye have had a rocky start, but she also went through problems with Adam and Diana over her wanting to bring Jake into the circle despite their protests.
She was all alone. No friends, no family, no one she could turn to and she hated it. She was angry at herself for causing most of the circle problems they faced, like Heather Barns and her wanting to find a out who her father is and why she's more powerful than the rest of them.
After getting her drink, she went upstairs and got the water ready. Grabbing her clothes from her dresser, she also grabbed her book of shadows. She caught a glance at the window and remembered Nick would be looking at her through it if he was here right now. She remembered when she first saw him the first time. He was shirtless, looked like he had more confidence than anyone she's seen even because he was a witch-but she didn't know that at the time, let alone that she herself was also one, especially that she was more powerful than the other members of her coven until it was revealed that Diana's also her sister and shared the same dark magic she has-looking intrigued as he stared at her through the window. He must have known that Cassie was one of them just like Melissa, Faye, Adam and Diana did. The former coven leader probably told them and they all waited for her arrival just so she could complete the circle.
Is that the only reason Diana wanted to be friends with her? Was she and the others just using her to complete their coven instead of genuinely wanting to be her friend because she was new in town and just lost her mother one month prior? Was she just going to be tossed aside once the circle didn't want her around anymore? Left alone once again by people she trusted and abandoned her months after she met them? It seemed to be that way. Diana said that she really wanted to be friends with her, but that seemed to change once Diana's true paternity was revealed. The thought of them using her caused anger to explode as the truth hit her: they only kept her around to advance their own power. None of the circle cared about having her as a friend because they didn't want to be powerless like they were when Nick died until Jake came back.
Glass shattered, wind howled, stuff flew off the shelves and onto the ground, but she didn't care. Angry at her circle, her parents, grandmother and herself, she put her book on the sink before undressing and getting in. Tears streamed down her face; hurt, anger and betrayal was all she felt towards everyone she knew and cared for. Her mom for making her move over and over again instead of facing her past, Blackwell for using both of them to kill their respective circles who didn't have dark magic; her circle for using her for their own little fun instead of actually caring about her and what she wanted.
She sighed and let the water wash away all of her anger and hurt towards everyone she cared about. Closing her eyes, she felt more relaxed, grabbing some soap and rinsed it off when she was done before doing the same with the shampoo and conditioner. Once she was done with all that, she got out of the bath, dried herself off and got dressed before draining the water. Once back in her bedroom, she noticed a text on her phone from Jake.
You okay? She ignored it before she grabbed her book of shadows and began reading, wanting to distract herself for awhile instead of always thinking about the circle or the Balcoins. She decided to learn as much as she could so she could practice more magic.
Nothing could bring her walls back down and get rid of the icy cold truth of betrayal in her heart.
The Secret Circle
Melissa was hanging out with Faye, trying to think of what they could do this summer once school lets out. They were sitting on the bed. "What about the beach?"
"That's a good idea." Faye said, smiling at her bestie.
"We could invite the rest of the circle."
"Mmm...Do we really want to invite ex witch hunter, playboy and evil princess number one?"
"Come on, Faye. Cassie doesn't need anyone else to abandon her after everything that's happened." She tried to convince her friend. "She's all by herself in that house these days and doesn't have anyone to turn to since the circle is split, but just because we all aren't bound doesn't mean we aren't friends anymore."
"Fine." She eventually agreed as Melissa texted Cassie and the others.
Sorry. I can't. Boathouse. Adam's reply.
Me either. Busy. Jake texted.
Cassie didn't respond.
"The boys can't and I haven't gotten an answer from Cassie." She frowned.
The Secret Circle
Adam worked at the boathouse, busy with orders and cleaning tables in between customers. He sighed, wishing he was in the backroom with the crystal skull right now. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible at the moment. He moved around so fast from tables to the bar and back again that he didn't have time to think about anything else.
He refilled drinks, took orders, checked out customers, wiped down tables and everything else, keeping himself busy enough so he wouldn't have to think about the skull or anything.
It also seemed as the object was calling to him, but he wasn't sure. Shaking his head, he got back to work and walked back to the front room of the boathouse. He took orders and sighed, wishing he could get back to the skull so he could bury it, but it would have to wait.
The Secret Circle
Jake was looking at the Vial his grandfather sent him, confused and curious. It looked like there was dirt or something in it, but he doesn't know how it could stop the Balcoin siblings. He wanted to protect his circle and wouldn't let them down again. After his brother died, he became the representative of the Armstrong Family for the coven.
Trying to figure it out, he wondered if his grandfather would know before deciding against the idea. Royce often went off the grid and wasn't easy to get a hold of. Jake continued looking at the weird stuff inside the tube.
The Lying Game
Emma Becker just left Thayer's apartment after he got pissed. She stood out the door and was about to walk away when she heard stuff breaking from the other side of the door.
"Thayer." Emma said, while her ex was staring at a photo of them together. She called for him again and knocked on the door. He opened it after putting the metal weapon back where it was. She moved past him and looked around as he shut the door, crossing his arms.
"I thought you left." He said, looking at her.
"No."
"Why?" He asked, curiously, with slight tears in his eyes.
"Because," she went up to him and wiped them away once the tears started falling down his face. "I care about you and got worried about what happened once I heard something crash as I was about to go meet the others."
"Emma-" He started to say and started to lean in closer to her as she did the same before they both heard screams from downstairs.
Worried about her friends and everyone else, she pushed herself to run as fast as she could go in heels without breaking one or tripping. Her conversation with Thayer would have to continue at another time where she could apologize.
Making it to the others, Emma saw Alec on the ground. Not caring about the secret regarding her and Sutton being twins, Emma stood next to her sister while Mads was to her right side.
"What happened?" The adopted teen asked.
"He fell." Dan said before he questioned them. Once they were cleared, Sutton hugged her sister while Rebecca went over to stand in front of them as if she wasn't on the roof minutes before.
"Are you guys okay?" She asked.
"We are fine." Emma said looking at Ted trying to save Alec, whose pulse was very faint and was breathing irregularly. An ambulance showed up and paramedics put the DA on the gurney before loading him into the back of the vehicle. "You okay, Mads?"
"I'm fine." She replied.
Ted was checking on Alec while Mads and Emma didn't say anything. The Rybak younger sibling was crying.
Emma hugged her as the latter looked around as Thayer went over to them, not far behind Emma.
"What happened between you and my brother?" Mads asked, confused, worried about her brother's appearance.
"I think he assumed my feelings for Ethan and compared it to my feelings for him without me confirming or denying anything. I tried to explain, but he told me to leave. Eventually, I did." The foster kid said.
"Emma, who are you in love with more? Ethan or Thayer?"
Before she could answer, Thayer was standing there, lost in his own thoughts. Emma couldn't blame him since he was probably just in a blind rage not to long ago due to him assuming Emma trying to probably tell him that she chose Ethan. Everyone else was either standing around in confusion, answering questions Dan asked or just stood there in shock. Emma couldn't blame them at all since she couldn't believe it herself.
"Want me to stay with you?" Emma asked Mads and Thayer as Sutton stood staring at them angrily. First she takes my place and then she steals my best friend? Hell, no. She thought.
Neither of them responded and while she knew they needed her right now, so did Kristin even though she wasn't her real mom.
Emma sighed as Dan went over to them. He asked them questions and they answered best they could. Eventually, Ethan's brother walked away. Emma sighed, looking at Mads and Thayer. All three of them made their way to the car while Ethan watched.
"That's Emma, right?" Dan said, looking at his younger brother.
"Yes." He said, looking at Emma's eyes on Thayer as they talked. From the looks of it, she does have feelings for him. The two hugged as Mads caught Ethan's stare at her brother and best friend.
"Want to wait at the hospital or what?" Emma asked them, mainly looking at Thayer.
"We can do it another time; I'm sure he will be in surgery or something and visiting hours are over anyways." He said, looking at his phone screen of Emma he took without her noticing when they were hanging out together. It was the same photo that was in the frame on the ground in his apartment. They both nodded. "I'll drive you home." Both girls got in the car. "Damn, left my keys in my room. I'll be back." He stated before going back up to his apartment.
"He really does love you, Emma." Mads said, noticing the way her brother looked at her best friend.
She sighed. "He's always been there for me, unlike Ethan."
"I know, but eventually you will have to choose between them. Either way, someone will end up heartbroken. I've never seen him happy until he met you. He was in love with Sutton, but now he has stronger feelings for you. I can tell." She gave a small smile. "I just don't want to see him get hurt."
If Alec did kill Derek and Theresa, than that's exactly what will happen and it will be even worse if I don't choose Thayer. Damn it! The other girl thought, shaking her head.
Emma had Thayer drop her off at the Mercer house. She got out of the car and looked at the older sibling of the two for a few seconds before she turned to Mads. "Call me if either of you need anything, alright?"
"Of course." She turned to her ex and didn't say anything before going inside the house. Thayer sighed and shook his head. "I've never seen you look at Sutton like that."
"Leave it alone, Mads." He replied, not wanting to talk about it. "She already chose Ethan anyways."
"It didn't look like that to me." He drove away. "I have a feeling she's changed her mind." Mads smirked.
General Hospital
Kristina Corinthos wasn't able to sleep at all since all she saw was her ex boyfriend, Kiefer, everywhere she went. The teen was tired of it since she just wanted to close her eyes and rest for a few hours, but didn't think she could do it. Even though her mind knew Kiefer was dead, she was still worried about running into his parents somewhere in town. Warren and Melinda both hated her "accusations" against him and were both relentless.
She remembered Molly's statement back when she was avoiding Kiefer and ignoring his calls. Kiefer's so in love with you. Why are you breaking his heart?
The Lying Game
Emma went inside the house and to her sister's room, sighing, as she thought about what Laurel, Sutton and Ethan said.
"Why are you wasting your time tutoring Ethan, the guy who broke your heart, when you have someone like Thayer? He cares about you and for awhile, I thought you cared about him too."
"He's as loyal as a puppy dog. Why do you hope Ethan and I can make things work? So you can stop second guessing your feelings for Thayer?"
"You're just going to rely on Thayer now? He's here. He's the one who's gonna solve the mystery for you, right? What? You're just going to lose it to Thayer now? You and me are everything."
She shook her head and laid down for awhile until she left the house and got in the car, driving to the cabin. The former texted Laurel, Mads, Thayer and Ethan.
"What's up?" Thayer asked as Emma mentally shook those thoughts from her head as she looked at him before turning to Ethan until she stared back at the former.
"Ted is hiding something and I need to know what is it."
"Maybe Alec knows something." Laurel said.
"We don't know what he knows, if anything because he's in the hospital." Sutton crossed her arms.
Emma sighed as her phone beeped. She looked at the message and didn't reply. The truth lies in another state where more dangerous and deadly secrets are hidden. The number was unknown, so she didn't recognize it.
"Is something wrong?" Sutton asked.
"I think we need to talk to Rebecca." Emma said, surprising everyone even her sister.
"Why?"
"Maybe she can tell us something."
"Either that or we can look around the Chamberlin house for anything that shows Alec knows something." Thayer said before Emma went to the Mercer House walked in the house and to the kitchen, before going to Sutton's bedroom and falling asleep. Waking up the next morning, she texted Thayer. Do you have time to meet up and look for answers with me?
Yeah, but where?
I'm on my way to you now.
She drove off and parked awhile later. After getting out of the car, she texted him that she's there. He walked out of the club and to her car.
"Hey. How are we going to do this?" She asked, not wanting it to be awkward.
"We go in, look around and get the hell out before we get caught." She nodded and they drove off.
"Mads thinks you've changed your mind about choosing Ethan over me." He replied.
Hope you and Thayer work things out. He deserves to be happy and he's never really acted like that around Sutton like he has with you, Emma. I've never seen him look at anyone else the same way he looks at you.
Emma sighed at the text from Mads as she remember what Laurel said about her deserving to be happy.
"You okay?" He asked.
"Yeah. Mads just texted me."
"About?"
"Just saying that she hopes that you and I work things out, how you deserve to be happy and that you've never acted like you were in love with Sutton until I came here and you haven't looked at anyone else the same way you have with me."
He sighed and looked out the window before turning back to her since she was driving. "She's right because I was in love with Sutton until you showed up, but I know you chose Ethan."
"He chose his family instead, so we broke up."
"I'm sorry." She parked the car and got out before going in with Thayer behind her. Looking through a stack of magazines on a shelf, something was sticking out.
Dear Alec,
I know that this was asking for a lot, but we both know what happened that night almost 18 years ago. If anything happens to my girlfriend and myself, I trust you to be the godfather to the girls. If you need me, here is my number and address as of this moment.
She took a photo of the letter and quickly left, going to the car without looking back.
The Secret Circle
At the Blake house, Cassie closed her eyes and tried to connect to the crystal skull. Once she felt her magic connecting to it, she said the spell while picturing Nick in her mind.
"Sorem est."
The second she said that and saw Nick, he appeared, looking as if he was never possessed.
"What just happened?" He asked, looking around as Cassie hugged him, almost knocking him down in the process.
"I decided to bring you back." The black haired circle leader replied, smiling.
"What happened to your hair and your clothes?"
"I decided to change my wardrobe." She smirked while he nodded.
"I like it." She called a circle meeting at the abandoned house and they drove off.
"Anyone know why she called us?" Faye asked, crossing her arms.
"No." Melissa replied.
"I think you will like it." Cassie said, walking in.
"You called us to show off your new hair color?" Faye rolled her eyes.
"No. Someone was in my house today."
"Who?" Jake asked, concerned.
Nick walked in. "Cassie brought me back." He hugged the circle leader and looked over her shoulder at Melissa who broke eye contact before the two pulled apart. Melissa hugged him, followed by Faye. Cassie looked at them and said, "I have an idea to protect us from any other witch hunters. A protection spell from my book of shadows, but there are a couple of problems with doing this."
"What are they?" Adam questioned.
"We can't leave town and we can't use magic."
Faye was sitting on the couch, but stood up. "What?" She almost shouted at the top of her lungs. "We just got our magic back and you want to take it away again?"
Cassie glared. "I didn't take it away the first time and you know it." The former blond replied, calmly.
"Right, Evil princess number 2 did."
"Listen to me, a lot has happened to us since I got here." She glanced at Nick before turning back to Faye. "I'm not taking any risks this time around. Do you want another repeat of last year with demons, witch hunters and witch coven ghosts?" She asked, crossing her arms.
"No." Melissa said as Jake and Nick shook their heads.
"Neither do I. It's either this or more of all the pain and shit that's happened to us since I moved to Chance Harbor."
"Fine." Faye said, crossing her arms.
"We can do this at the beach." She turned to Melissa. "Do you think we have the ingredients?" She asked as she handed the younger girl the book to see the ingredients.
"I think so." Melissa grabbed some ingredients from the table as Cassie asked if they had a stone kettle. Nick went over to stand next to Melissa, grabbing one from underneath the same table.
Cassie smiled as Melissa handed her several bags of the stuff they needed.
"Ok. Now that we have Nick back and Jake is still in the circle, we are up to 6 members. We still need someone from the Meade family though."
"Who? It's not like Charles had a child with Elizabeth." Faye said.
"Besides, we are the only witches in town we know of because most people tend to be quiet about that." Melissa replied.
"Also, a complete circle is 6, one from each of the 6 families." Adam said.
"Not necessarily, Adam. One of our parents was in the circle along with their significant other which makes 12. My mom, Elizabeth, Ethan, Richard, Thomas and Sophie Ann. Those 6 are part of the circle since Diana and I found our book of shadows, Richard and Thomas both had their family crystals with their dad."
"Melissa stated she found her mom's book of shadows." Nick replied.
"Maybe we don't need a Meade Family member because the 5 of us did good on our own when Nick was...unavailable and Jake wasn't in town." Faye said.
"Agreed." Cassie said, after thinking about it for a moment before they got in their cars and drove away.
The Lying Game
Thayer and Emma both left the Chamberlin house where Alec was staying and got back in the car, but the latter texted Mads first before she started the car and drove off.
Thanks. I'll talk to you later.
"You okay?"
"I'm just wondering what happened almost 18 years ago, around the time Rebecca gave me up for adoption."
"I don't know, but I want to help."
"I know and thanks."
Awhile later, Emma parked at the country club. Thayer looked at her as she got a text message. I'm watching you and coming after what I want, Emma.
She looked around and didn't see anything weird.
Who is this?
Doesn't matter.
Yes, it does.
Don't trust Thayer Rybak. He's bad news. She sighed and put the phone up. "I'll see you later." Emma told him, wanting to be alone. He sighed and held her hand.
"Call me when you get back to the Mercer house."
She nodded, barely hearing him since her mind was somewhere else. Once he got out of the car and shut the door, she drove off. When she parked at the Mercer house, she got out of the car and entered Sutton's bedroom through the back entrance.
"What are you doing here?" Sutton asked, raising an eyebrow as she sat down on her bed on her phone.
"I just didn't feel like staying at the cabin tonight."
"Why? Do you feel like Ethan and I are going to secretly get back together and you wanted to make sure it doesn't happen."
"No and it won't because he chose family instead." Emma shot back.
Sutton rolled her eyes. "Where have you been?"
"I was spending time with Thayer." She crossed her arms.
"Awww. You're using him so he will help you even after you broke his heart the night Alec fell through the skyline."
"I'm not using him at all."
"Whatever you say, but I don't believe you."
"I'm serious. I've been thinking a lot about what Laurel, you and Ethan have said regarding Thayer and I."
Sutton raised an eyebrow and looked at her. "Well, what is it?"
"All I can say is that I'll tell you and the others after I talk to him."
The Secret Circle
Later that night, Cassie and Nick met the others at the beach. "This feels weird." The circle leader said.
"It's okay." Nick assured her by sitting down next to her on a log as the circle was gathered together.
"Hey." Melissa said, smiling as Cassie tried to forget the last time they were at the beach.
"Why are there logs in a pile?" Jake asked, looking at the others.
"Bonfire." Faye said, smirking. Cassie stared at the logs as a fire appeared when she used her magic. "Adam is bringing the food and should be here any second." She reached for a drink in the cooler as everyone else stood around. Cassie just continued staring in front of her as memories from the binding ceremony went through her head. She was hesitant at first just like Nick was until Sally got caught in the crossfire. She looked at Nick, happy he was back and better than ever. Remembering the last time they were all at the beach-back when Diana was still part of the circle before Jake came back-made her previous thoughts of the circle using her to enhance their power come back to the forefront of her mind. She didn't know what to believe at all. Faye would since she's always has a thirst for power. Diana probably would have too since she was an advocate for the circle and magic since she found her book of shadows and showed the others before I got here. Adam would have followed her lead as well. Cassie thought as she glared into the fire while her mind started racing at the thought of 3 of her so called friends doing it.
She couldn't seen Nick and Melissa pretending anything because they weren't really expressive about the circle either way, so she gave them the benefit of the doubt.
Angry at Diana, Adam, her parents, grandmother and herself, the wind howled as her dark magic surfaced.
Adam arrived with food in his hands before setting them down.
"You okay?" Melissa asked the older girl as the fire got bigger and higher.
"Whoa." Jake said, putting an arm in front of Faye while Nick did the same to Cassie as Adam was the same way with Melissa.
"Cassie, stop." Faye said, being frightened without showing it.
"Please. Diana isn't here and the circle isn't being bound again." Nick told the 17 year old, putting an arm around her as his eyes looked into hers, but no response.
He used magic to set the fire back to its original size before he looked at Cassie again and kissed her. She finally responded back by returning it before they both pulled away.
"What just happened?" She asked, looking at him.
"You got caught in a trance and the fire almost spread out of control." Faye said as Cassie glared at her before the coven stood in a wide circle formation. She opened her book of shadows and opened it, flipping through the pages and accidentally went past the spell. She was about to turn back to the page she needed when she found something interesting.
"What is it?" Nick asked, looking at her as well as everyone else.
"I think I found a better way for us to use magic and still be unnoticed by the hunters."
kneeled in front of the stone kettle, mixing the ingredients together into a dark oily concoction.
"In this cauldron, is salt water, from the ocean mixed with blueberry oil eucalyptus." She mixed it before using her magic to draw a circle around herself. Each member of the group stepped inside as Melissa placed two candles on either end of the cauldron Cassie was mixing.
"Here I place two candles," Melissa said, according to the ceremony. "One blue for physical protection and one purple for power and wisdom."
As she bent down to light the candles, She recited a chant from Cassie's Book of Shadows. "Divine Goddess, God Divine, if evil dwells within this place, make it now leave our space." The blond circle leader stood in the center of the circle. "In order for this to work, you all need to picture a white light around you. Let it surround your whole body as I recite the chant." Everyone agreed and closed their eyes. Cassie said, "By the power of the Source, no evil shall enter here." She closed her eyes as she pictured a white light wrapping itself around her like a warm winter coat as her voice dropped an octave, and the chant left her throat like thunder.
"Psychic hunters in the night. Psychic hunters of the day. Destroy no more what I achieve. Destroy no more what I receive." She paused. "Psychic Balcoins in the night, Psychic Balcoins of the Day, Destroy no more what I achieve. Destroy no more what I receive." There were a few seconds of quiet, hindered only by the blowing wind and crashing waves until the Blake girl continued. "With this potion, I anoint this Circle to be protected from you, this magic I do."
Cassie pictured the white light surrounding not only her own body now but the whole group as one. She imagined it encapsulating them like a giant helium balloon and floating them up to the safety of the cloudless sky. She opened her eyes and rubbed a smudge of the inky blue mixture upon her forehead with her thumb and doing the same with the others before she finished the spell.
"By the power of this ocean, wide and deep, By the power of day, and night, and powers three, This is our will, so let it be!"
Little by little, everyone opened their eyes.
"We can go wash it off in a minute." The blond circle leader told them.
"I can't believe we didn't think of this months ago when we first bound the circle." Melissa said.
Cassie dug a deep hole in the sand to discard it. "It also means the hunters or my half siblings can't find us, so we have to be extra careful to be undetected." She stood up, wiped the sand of her hands and looked directly at Faye. "The hunters and my siblings will try everything to figure out who we are."
Faye was pissed. "Our magic is the only power we have. How are we supposed to defend ourselves?"
"Look, 3 of you have gone without it for 15 years, Nick and I have for 16 while Jake has for 18. I think we can handle it for a little while." Cassie said before they all hung out for a couple of hours, eating snacks and hanging out. Cassie and Nick still didn't talk about the kiss, but everyone knew that something was happening between them.
"Let's play truth or dare." Faye smirked.
"Not after last time." Cassie replied, crossing her arms as they sat down on logs around the bonfire.
"Come on, Cassie. Scared?" She smirked.
"No." She glared.
"Then join in."
"Fine. Truth or dare?" Cassie asked Melissa.
"Truth."
"What did you really think of Diana being leader?"
"She was good until she started to be a bitch about you having dark magic, but I'd rather have you as leader. Truth or dare?"
"Truth."
"Did you really have feelings for Adam or Jake?"
"No and yes, respectively, but that's ancient history. I went along with the former because I believed Ethan went he said that the Blake's and Conant's are meant to be together. Jake was so much better because he actually encouraged me to find out more about why my powers are a little more advanced. Adam was never that supportive." Nick crossed his arms and Cassie noticed from the corner of her eye. She took his hand in hers. "Faye, truth or dare."
"Dare." She replied.
"I dare you to not complain about my decisions and you have to be nice to me for a month."
"You evil sneak." Cassie smirked as everyone looked at the girls, shocked.
"Payback is a bitch."
"Truth or dare, Nick." Faye asked.
"Dare."
"Hmmm...I dare you to," she smirked at Cassie. "Kiss the circle leader."
"What?" They both replied along with Adam, Melissa and Jake.
"Are you going to play or not?" Faye said as Cassie sighed and looked at Nick.
"Fine." They both leaned in and kissed. It was slow and weird at first, but both were a little more comfortable as the seconds went by...right before Cassie pulled away.
"Happy, Faye?" The circle leader asked.
"Yes."
"Adam, truth or dare."
Cassie's phone beeped and she pulled her phone out of her pocket to read the message. It was from Sally. Can we hangout? I need a friend. She sighed, remembering how things seemed so easy back then.
"Truth."
"Do you get tired of going through almost all the girls in the circle?"
Cassie typed her message and ignored Adam's answer.
"I still can't believe this." Faye glared at Cassie while everyone was packing up.
"It's not going to kill us."
"Tell your mom and Nick that." Faye mumbled under her breath.
Cassie threw a cold glare her way. "What did you say?"
"I said that both of them got killed because neither could use magic." Faye said, looking at her.
"My mom got killed because of faulty wiring. She couldn't control it." Cassie glared. "Besides, my grandmother and I didn't find Nick until he was already dead."
"Maybe your mom didn't die from that like the police thought and I don't think Nick would drown himself, knowing what it would do to Melissa and leave the rest of us defenseless without someone else from his bloodline joining the circle." Faye glared.
"You're saying witch hunters killed my mom and Nick?" The second oldest member of the circle looked at them with an unreadable expression since he knew that wasn't true because Charles killed him and Amelia under Dawn's orders. The demon in him was able to read minds and Dawn's thoughts said that she was happy Amelia and Nick's deaths were on Charles and not her.
"I don't know about your mom since she didn't have any magic to protect herself, but I don't think it was faulty wiring. She could have gotten out if that was the situation, but Nick could have protected himself from the demon instead of someone possibly killing him if we hadn't bound the circle." Faye glared back as Cassie stepped up to her.
"It was an accident, Faye." The blond said.
"He wouldn't have died if things were different."
"You mean if I never showed up." Faye didn't say anything as Cassie scoffed. "Damn and I thought you were excited at having a full circle to increase your powers." The blond said before she left the beach, got in her car and drove away.
"Nice going Faye. She's already upset about Diana, but you just made it worse." Melissa said. "Can't you think of anyone else except yourself for once and anything else except magic and power?" Melissa asked before she left as well while Nick and Jake went back to the latter's truck and got in, heading back home.
Adam went back to the boathouse, leaving Faye there by herself.
The Secret Circle
Cassie was pissed about what Faye said. How dare she bring her mom and Nick into this? The latter is alive and they kind of have a full circle. Nothing she could do is able to bring her mom back or reverse everything that's happened since she arrived. Faye's words from before kept going over and over in her head. Maybe your mom didn't die from that like the police thought and I don't think Nick would drown himself.
Was Faye implying that something else happened to both of them? Her assumption about Blackwell being evil, having a whole other family somewhere/another her running around-so Jake and Adam could each have one-which was revealed to be Diana, both turned out to be true. Could that mean there was never a curse between the Blake's and Conant's? Was her mom's death an accident and was Nick really trying to protect his circle like they assumed or did someone...murder them?
No matter what, Cassie was going to find out one way or another and didn't care how long it takes. She was furious and didn't know if Faye was just trying to piss her off or not, but wouldn't put it past her.
She parked her car when she arrived at the hill overlooking Chance Harbor, not wanting to be around people right now.
She spent hours there until she left, going back home. She parked and entered her house, setting her keys down and going to her room before falling asleep instantly.
The Lying Game
Emma went to the Cabin and walked in shortly before the door opened. "Perfect, just the person I wanted to see." The teen smirked, channeling her inner Sutton.
"Why?" Rebecca asked, confused.
"I found a note from someone to Alec and I wanted to know if you knew anything about it."
"What note?"
"The person who wrote it said that he trusted Alec to be the godfather to Sutton and I if anything happened to him, his girlfriend or you." She showed her the photo of the letter. Rebecca looked at it and didn't say anything. "That's not Ted's handwriting, so whose is it?"
The Secret Circle
Cassie was still tired since she woke up after midnight and stayed awake since then on Monday morning. She made sure she had everything ready to go and then got something to eat for breakfast. After minutes of looking through the pantry, she sighed and grabbed her keys, locking the house and driving off. Heading towards Java Brew before school, she smelled the coffee and muffins in the air.
The circle leader parked her car and went inside.
"Hey, Cassie." Melissa said, looking at her friend and fellow witch.
"Hi, Melissa."
"How are you doing after the beach incident?"
Cassie almost forgot all about Faye's comments about Amelia and Nick's deaths. She shook her head. "I'd rather not think about it at all, but I'm good." She replied, still wondering if the whole circle was using her just for their magic abilities to be advanced once she got to Chance Harbor instead of truly wanting to be her friend and help her through her mom's death. Feeling angry at the thought that came back into her head, she grit her teeth and walked up to the counter. She ordered a coffee and muffin when Melissa started resumed talking to her after a few moments of silence between the two.
"Cassie, wait. I just wanted to see if you are okay."
"Faye's comment in the least of my problems right now." Cassie replied, coldly.
"I understand with Diana leaving and-" Melissa stopped at her friend's glare.
"Nothing to do with just Diana or just Faye, but it has everything to do when I first showed up."
Jake walked in and saw Cassie giving Melissa the coldest glare he's ever seen. Not even Faye would top that with her bitch stare since Cassie has dark magic.
"What's going on?" He asked, going over to them.
"Doesn't matter." The circle leader said before she grabbed her coffee and headed out the door, when someone bumped into her. Coffee spilled on her shirt and she glared at the person. Diana.
"Guess what, you don't have to worry about being my sister because I am cutting you out of my life forever. Don't bother coming back." She replied before slamming her against the wall and punching her. "You do not deserve to be in my life after everything you did, so I am disowning you as my sister because you are nothing but a backstabbing, hypocritical, self righteous and condescending bitch." She blocked Diana's number and deleted it before grabbing a replacement coffee. "Don't you dare try to fix things between us." She replied. "I never thought you would run off after everything that's happened. My mom is dead, Nick died and my only sister wants to leave me. Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised because you are just like Jake because both of you ran off when things got too difficult for you. Everyone eventually does or either dies, so have fun being cut off from your former best friend because you are dead to me." She walked out and went to her car, putting the stuff in the backseat before getting in and driving off.
Everyone looked at the brunette who walked up to the counter and ordered something to eat. Jake and Melissa didn't say anything and just looked at each other, worried about Cassie.
The Lying Game
Emma didn't get anywhere asking Rebecca about the note Alec left, nor did she get anywhere on who texted her about Thayer being bad news. She shook her head and walked into the back entrance of Sutton's room to grab her stuff so Sutton can take back her life.
She grabbed her stuff and put it in a duffel bag to get her stuff ready because she's done once school lets out for the summer.
The Fosters
Mariana sighed and went downstairs texting on her phone. "Mom, you okay?" She asked, concerned as she looked at Lena.
"Yeah, but I've been thinking and I believe it's best if we moved from San Diego."
She was a little surprised, but only because she didn't really think about moving after everything that happened.
"We can talk about it when you get home from school." Lena said before Mariana picked up her bag and left the house.
The Secret Circle
Cassie went to school and walked in, going to her locker. She sighed as she saw Sally Matthews down the hall. The class president approached her.
"Hey."
"Oh, Hi." She smiled, but it was fake.
"You okay? I see you changed your hair color."
"I felt like a change." She replied, grabbing her stuff out of her locker before class starts.
"Is everything okay with you and the others?"
"No. We are taking a break, which is pretty easy since I'm not really talking to them and Diana briefly left town. I have a feeling she'll be here for school and then leave again even though I told her to get the hell out of my life and never come back."
"Why?"
"She found out that my father is her dad instead of Charles Meade, so she's not happy about it and has left town to get away from everything that's happened."
"Damn." Sally said as Diana walked in by herself and Adam, Melissa and Faye were as well and not talking to each other.
"We've all kind of split up after that. The only one I talk to more than any of the others is Melissa."
The bell rang and Cassie shut her locker before going to class. She did her review packet for each subject and smirked to herself as she used magic to get the answers to appear before acting as if she was looking through her textbook for them.
Classes went by in a blur and she was the first one out the door and to her locker before heading home to "study." She scoffed at the thought and continued smirking to herself as she was thinking of ways to have fun this summer with her magic. She walked out of the school building and out to her car before driving off.

School was over for the circle, Mariana and Emma when the latter is pretending to be Sutton. Emma was a little sad to be leaving, but knew Sutton would want her life back now. She grabbed the duffel bag and walked out of the house, calling a taxi to drive her to the bus stop. She arrived not long after and got out with her bag before getting on the bus and heading to the town that was on the letter.
Mariana was also on the road for a change of scenery. She got a taxi and it was silent the whole ride. She didn't know where she wanted to go, but she felt she was heading in the right direction. When she reached a place she liked, the taxi stopped at her request. She got out and grabbed her bag before heading inside the building.
She got her key card and went to upstairs. A few minutes later, she unpacked. Emma walked in with her card which made the other girl turn around. Another girl was right behind her.
"I guess we are roommates. I'm Emma."
"Mariana."
"Kristina."
"What are you doing here?"
"I had to leave town after kind of being shunned at my old school."
"Damn. I feel bad for you. I'm wondering who wrote a letter about giving me up for adoption if it wasn't my dad and it had an address on it, so I followed it to this town."
"Interesting." Mariana said with a raised eyebrow.
"My ex boyfriend's dad threatened me while my dad thinks Kiefer's mom is going to come after me next."
"That's messed up."

Grant's phone rang as he sighed. "Where are you?" The male asked, getting angry. "You've been ignoring me for weeks."
"I don't have to listen to you, asshole."
"Don't forget who you're speaking to."
"I haven't forgotten." He replied before hanging up.
"Who was that?" Diana asked, confused and worried.
"No one important." He sighed, clearly not wanting to talk about it.
Diana nodded and they continued driving until they went to a hotel and got a room.
They set their stuff down and Diana was walking back into the hallway to get a drink from the vending machine when she ran into someone.
"Oh. I'm so sorry." She apologized. "I'm Diana."
"Emma."
"Mariana."
"Kristina."
"Grant." Diana's boyfriend replied as Mariana's phone rang.
"Hey. You okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine and just miss you."
"I know." She frowned and sighed.
"Well, the good news is that I'm relocating."
"Where?"
"I don't know yet." He replied.
"Let me know, alright?"
"Of course."
The Secret Circle
Cassie was at the house after school let out for the day. She sighed as she thought of how much everything changed since she arrived. Her parents, the circle, her hidden bloodline and destiny. She shook her head and was going to the kitchen when her house was set on fire.
Nick saw it from his bedroom and called for his brother. "Jake, Cassie's in trouble!" He went out the door with his brother following and rushed inside. Cassie tried to get out, but the front door wouldn't open. She went to the back and tried that, but it didn't work either.
Nick and Jake got up to the porch and the former kicked the door off its hinges before going to find Cassie as Jake looked around for any intruders upstairs and down as he tried to use magic to put the fire out. "Cassie." Nick said, going over to her. He held her in his arms before both of them ran out of there.
Once they got far enough away, they turned around. All of them were looking around, but Cassie's main focus was on her family house.
"The one thing I have left of my grandmother and 1 of the two things left of my mom." She replied. "Where's my book of shadows? Is it still in the house? I have to get it." She was about to run in when Nick grabbed her.
"Cassie, stop. I'm not letting you go back in there." Nick replied as his brother nodded in agreement.
"Nick!" She cried, looking at him before turning back to the house as it exploded in flames. Cassie shook her head. "This can't be happening." She cried while Nick held her.
"You are staying with us tonight."
"Agreed since I highly doubt you would want to stay at the Meade house or with Faye." Jake said.
"Her mom too." Nick mumbled under his breath, knowing what Dawn did to Amelia, him and Jane.
Both boys went to their house as Nick held onto Cassie, who was still crying. Neither of the boys liked seeing her this way. Nick put her on the bed in his old bedroom which is his brother's current room. He silently shut the door to let her sleep and went to the living room.
"I wonder who did this." Nick said, looking at his brother.
"More witch hunters?"
"Balcoin siblings?"
"Maybe, but we need to call a circle meeting." Jake said.
"Agreed." He replied right before Cassie started screaming. Both boys went upstairs and Nick opened the door, running to her side. "Cassie, wake up."
The Secret Circle
Diana and Grant were in the hotel when she felt powerful emotions and heard Cassie's thoughts as they changed.
Mom, grandma, I'm sorry I wasn't able to get home faster. Nick, I wish I could take back what happened with Heather. It's my fault. She felt Cassie crying and wondered why she was able to hear her thoughts and feel her emotions. If I never left that night, I could have gotten you and grandma faster, mom. I'm sorry!
Diana sighed as she shook her head of those thoughts, especially since she knew that Charles killed Amelia.
"You okay?" Grant asked as Diana nodded. "So, do you have any siblings?" He asked.
"Yes, I do, but I can't be around her right now."
The Secret Circle
Adam was at the boathouse when Faye walked in. "What do you want Faye?" He asked. "I'm busy."
"Come on, Adam. We are going to throw a party to celebrate summer vacation," she smirked before leaning in close. "and Nick being back."
"Faye, seriously?" He asked.
"It was only going to be Melissa and I, but she said I needed to invite the rest of you since Princess of Purity isn't around to keep Dark princess number 1 out of trouble."
"Do you not see me running the boathouse?" Adam asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Just close it down for the day and then open back up later when you get back. We need a break and I think it's a good idea."
"I don't know, Faye."
"After you pissing off Cassie last week and the last time we were at the beach before that, it didn't plan out the way we wanted it to." Faye rolled her eyes as she got a text. "Fine. I'm in. Maybe third time is a charm."
"Emergency meeting at the abandoned house." She said before they left and headed to Blackwell's old house. "I got your text." Faye said. "What's going on?" She looked around at the other members of the circle and saw Cassie who was sitting down on a chair without saying anything as she stared at something off into the distance that only she could see. "Why's Dark Princess number 1 not acting like her usual boyfriend stealing self?"
"She hasn't said anything since she woke up earlier after the fire." Nick said, looking at her.
"What fire?" Melissa asked, concerned and confused.
"Someone set her house on fire. It was one of the last connections she had to Amelia and the last thing she had left of her grandmother." Jake replied.
"So who is it this time?" Adam asked, crossing his arms.
"We don't know. Hunters or Balcoins are our guess." Nick replied, looking at hm with an unreadable expression the same way he did back when he stood behind the former blond witch while they all first told Cassie about her being a witch.
"Should we call Diana?" Melissa asked, looking at them.
"She abandoned us." Faye said, coldly.
"Well, whoever set the Blake house on fire could be going after Diana next and Grant doesn't know about us being witches." Melissa said, crossing her arms.
"What do we know about Grant, except the fact that he was a total stranger who took Diana out of town without a second thought?" Faye asked.
"It does seem suspicious." Melissa agreed as Faye looked at Nick sitting down next to Cassie who still hasn't said anything since her house burned down. The resident bad girl raised an eyebrow knowing that Nick used to date Melissa, but now it seems like things have changed within the circle even more.
"Cassie, you okay?" Jake asked the now black haired witch, who blinked without saying anything at all.
"Again I ask, should we call Diana?" Melissa said as Cassie got up and walked out of the room while Nick went after her.
"I guess that's a no." Adam replied.
