Mortal Kombat: Elemental Realm
AN: Well, I was hit with an inspiration to write another chapter and here it is. Now, this chapter is mostly a fight scene, one which I had a ton of fun writing. I hope that you end up enjoying it.
Now to reviews.
lava213: The Midway era. And no, there will be no harem. This isn't a romance story.
0nnp: I didn't exaggerate anything. The lore said that they did indeed almost destroy the planet. And when exactly were Raiden or Shao Kahn defeated by regular people? You mean Liu Kang? Shujinko? That doesn't mean that they are weak, it means that the people who defeated them are strong. And what do you mean that Shao Kahn doesn't have the manpower or capability? He conquered who knows how many realms in those thousands of years, he should easily have his army in millions. How many ninjas does Naruto world have in their army? They had 50 000 and after the war even less. And if Shao Kahn could invade the world like Earth then he shouldn't have so much trouble with Elemental Nations. And yeah, while Sasuke and Naruto could fight an army, Shao Kahn or many of his powerful underlings can hold them off.
sniperbro1998: Ok, you are greatly exaggerating. Naruto and Sasuke at their most powerful aren't even planet level, much less solar system level. Even VS Battles Wiki acknowledged that Kaguya's presumably star level attack was made by the amount of chakra she didn't possess, so she isn't on that level. So no, Naruto and Sasuke cannot one-shot any MK character.
MultiverseNaruto: Thank you. And yeah, they have quite a challenge ahead of them.
xSeann: Thanks for the praise!
2 A Godly Battle
To say the shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village were getting tired of all the threats that hanged over their heads would be an understatement. Not only did they just win the worst of the conflicts that have ever happened, now they faced yet another threat that once again threatened to subjugate the entire human race.
Just when they thought when they achieved peace by stopping their mutual hatred for each other, settling their past differences, now comes a completely unrelated enemy to put a monkey wrench into all of it.
The Leaf Twelve were currently located at Training Ground Three, one that Team Seven has fond memories of. They gathered together to talk about their new predicament.
"Guys, just to be hypothetical," Kiba said. "What if we actually end up losing this tournament? Could we fight off the invasion?"
"Not very likely," Shikamaru said as all heads turned to him. "If what Raiden said was the truth, then this Shao Kahn would have literally worlds worth of armies at his disposal, made out of people we know nothing about. After how many losses we suffered not too long ago our chances are quite low."
"Then our only logical option is to win the tournament," Shino said, his eyes slightly narrowing beneath his dark glasses.
"If we can win," Shikamaru said. "Once again, we know nothing about the people competing. Before we could at least have some idea when facing other ninjas, but we can't say what the new enemy fighters will even be like."
"Oh, come on, stop being so negative!" Naruto exclaimed. "We won't lose. We came on top before, and we'll do so now."
"At least someone's an optimist," Tenten said as she twirled a kunai.
"Speculating on what will happen is pointless," Sasuke said. "All we need to think about is how we will defeat our enemy. What happens afterward is what matters."
"Um, we could ask lord Raiden about what we will end up facing," Hinata suggested. "Surely he knows a lot about the invaders."
"I think it's pretty clear he does," Sai commented. "The way he spoke before was a clear indicator that he has deep knowledge of this. No sudden change in facial expression, the ease of his words, it really shows how much he knows."
"Hey, Naruto, Sasuke," Choji said gaining the attention of the two. "Isn't today supposed to be the day he wanted to test you two?"
"Yeah, that is supposed to be today," Ino said. "But did he mention when, and how is he supposed to find you two?"
Sasuke just gave a shrug. He assumed that the thunder god would know where to find them.
Naruto gave it a thought. "How about this?" he said gaining everyone's attention. "Why don't we just call him?"
Sakura raised an eyebrow at her teammate. "Uh… how exactly do we do that?" she asked.
Naruto then brought his palms near his mouth and shouted. "Yo, Raiden! We're ready to take your test, so why don't you come here and let's get it over with!"
There was an awkward silence that followed, with most of the Twelve starring at Naruto dumbstruck. Did he seriously think that would work, just shout to the sky and hope for the best?
Naruto just looked around, oblivious to the stares he was receiving. "Huh, I guess that didn't-"
Then a large lightning bolt struck behind him, making the Jinchuriki yelp loudly and back away in fear and shock. Once he turned around he was met with the large frame of Raiden himself as he stood there stoically.
"Something you need?" Raiden asked nonchalantly as he stood among the surprised shinobi.
"Jeez, Raiden, could you have done it elsewhere?" Naruto asked annoyed.
"I could have," Raiden said before giving a grin. "But I found this way to be most amusing."
Naruto grumbled under his breath which Raiden could make out was the word 'jerk' while some of the Leaf Twelve laughed.
"Ok, I'm starting to like this guy," Choji said as he finished chuckling.
"So, how did you find us?" Sakura asked.
"Tracking you wasn't hard," Raiden said. "The amount of energy you possess as a group is very noticeable."
Sakura gave him a nod. So Raiden could also sense chakra. But she wondered what Karin meant when she told her that she wasn't sure if what Raiden possessed is chakra or not.
"Now," Raiden said as he turned towards Naruto and Sasuke. "You two said you wanted to be tested now. I was planning on coming at the afternoon so you could be completely ready but if you're eager we can start. Shall we vacate the area to have our fight elsewhere?"
"No," Sasuke said as he walked next to Naruto. "We can fight here." His partner gave a nod.
"I see. Then we can begin immediately."
The rest of the ninjas moved away to give the three fighters some space for their fight.
Raiden slammed his staff down, burying it into the ground where it stood still before moving closer to the two.
"Attack me, both you at once," Raiden said gesturing for them to come over.
Naruto chuckled. "Your funeral," he said before sharing a glance with Sasuke, both knowing what they should do without needing to tell each other.
The two friends then charged at Raiden, ready to engage him in just Taijutsu to see what he had to offer. The thunder god stood calmly as they approached, seemingly not worried.
When they got close, they struck only for Raiden to swat aside their strikes, but their assault continued, throwing punches and kicks at Raiden's direction, all of which were blocked or avoided. Ducking under their simultaneous punches, he then grabbed them by the shoulders, holding them in place, before bringing up his foot and delivering a kick to Naruto's side before also delivering one to Sasuke's, causing them to separate. Raiden then jumped before making a full split and kicking them in the head simultaneously, throwing them away.
Naruto recovered before he hit the ground and bounced back, before attacking Raiden to the side. But the thunder god brought his hand up and blocked the blonde's strikes without even looking before grabbing his arm then delivering a kick to his abdomen followed by a spinning kick to the head which sent Naruto backward again.
Raiden moved forward to move away from Sasuke's jumping axe kick that hit the ground and cracked it. Raiden then jumped backward and over Sasuke who to strike at his back. After a spin, Raiden delivered a kick to the back of the Uchiha's skull.
"Wow! What a superb use of Taijutsu!" Rock Lee commented as he looked at Raiden fight his friends, his movements filled with grace, precision, and strength.
The others had to agree with Lee's comment, seeing how well this man, or god, could fight.
"If that is all you have," Raiden said. "You may as well surrender your realm now."
The two rose before glaring at the god. "Oh, trust me," Naruto said before he was enveloped by an orange glow, a cloak appearing over his jumpsuit, black markings covering various parts of his body. "We've just started." Sasuke's change was simpler but no less effective, activating Sharingan in his right eye and the Rinnegan in the left one.
Raiden narrowed his eyes, sensing the drastic increase in their power. He took an actual battle stance, knowing that he could toy around with them any longer.
The two of them then charged at Raiden again, this time their speed was far greater than before as they seemed to disappear. Raiden brought his hands up and blocked the punches aimed at him, the impact creating a shockwave that shook the ground.
They continued their assault, with Raiden actually needing to put effort into blocking their attacks. However, one of Naruto's punches was able to breach Raiden's defenses and strike him in the face, fazing the god. Sasuke used the opportunity and delivered a kick to Raiden's chest, before went for an uppercut that sent Raiden flying quite a distance.
Raiden gained his composure and spun mid-air before he could fall and landing on his feet. The two young men were coming at him once again, but they weren't going to be as fortunate. Raiden's eyes glowed brighter as lightning surrounded him. He then also charged at lightning speeds, speed right in the middle of Naruto and Sasuke. They were surprised at the god's speed, but they weren't able to react fast enough as they both got elbowed in the back, making them groan. All three combatants turned around to face each other again.
The battle turned into a blur of exchanging punches, kicks, and counters, with even the Leaf Twelve not completely seeing what was happening.
Raiden was incredibly impressed. Despite the two being so young they were easily among the top fighters in any realm he has seen.
Naruto and Sasuke also had to admit that Raiden was good. The only people who could actually match them were Madara when he became a Jinchuriki and Kaguya. It's a good thing that this time it was actually more fun.
Raiden blocked a punch from Sasuke before punching him in the head but was kicked to the side by Naruto, who went for another punch but Raiden grabbed him by the arm before grabbing his neck and tossing him away.
Sasuke then delivered several strikes to Raiden's side and chest before the god swung a hundred eighty degrees causing Sasuke to miss before Raiden struck him in the chest with an elbow then bringing up his forearm, striking Sasuke in the face. Then Raiden gathered some lighting into his hand before shooting Sasuke away with a lightning blast.
Raiden then felt Naruto coming from behind him, and quickly turned around, delivering a chop the young ninja's neck, only for him to disperse into smoke, making Raiden go wide-eyed.
"GIANT RASENGAN!" Raiden heard Naruto shout and saw that he was heading in his direction, with a swirling blue orb in his palm. Raiden wasn't able to react as Naruto slammed the orb into his chest, with Raiden gasping in pain from the strange attack.
He was sent spiraling backward quite a distance before landing on the ground, but he swiftly recovered. Then thunderclouds appeared in the sky, making Raiden look up for a brief moment but soon his gaze landed on Sasuke who he felt the energy coming from. The young man had lightning connecting his hand with the clouds.
A giant roar came from above as Raiden saw a dragon made of lighting appear in the storm.
"KIRIN!" Sasuke shouted before bringing his hand down which also caused the dragon to move down as well, going right after Raiden.
However, to the shock of both shinobi, Raiden just raised his hands in the air as the dragon made contact with him, and ended up being absorbed into Raiden who extended his hands and sent massive blasts of lightning that hit both Naruto and Sasuke, knocking them back.
"Attacking a god of Thunder with his own element? Very unwise, Sasuke Uchiha," Raiden said as he got into his battle stance.
"Then how about this?!" Sasuke exclaimed before making some hand signs and bringing his thumb and index finger to his mouth. "Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu!"
A huge stream of fire then erupted from Sasuke's mouth and heading straight at Raiden who raised his hands to make a shield made of electricity which blocked the fire and made it disperse.
Then he saw that Naruto was upon him again, except there were dozens of copies of him, in the air and the ground, each holding the blue orb in their hands.
"Rasengan Barrage!" All the copies exclaimed as they went at Raiden with their Rasengans.
"Not this time," Raiden said before making an orb made of lighting in his hand. He then raised his hand and the lightning orb dispersed into many tiny bolts of lightning that struck each of the clones, dispersing them along with knocking the real Naruto back.
Raiden then saw Sasuke running at him, this time with a sword drawn. Their eyes met for a moment before Sasuke disappeared from sight and Raiden suddenly felt a huge pain coming from his chest. Looking down, he saw that it was Sasuke who impaled him with a sword, with his divine blood dripping down.
"Impressive," Raiden said before he shot some lighting over Sasuke head, which actually did end up hitting Sasuke, as the one that impaled him disappeared along with the wound. "But the senses of a god are not so easily fooled."
Then Sasuke also dispersed into smoke, showing that it was another clone. Sasuke and Naruto then appeared at his sides, both of them delivering a kick at both sides. Raiden then bent, moving between their kicks, before landing on his hands spreading his legs and twirling them around so he could strike them both but Naruto and Sasuke blocked the attack with their arms.
Raiden then jumped backward and landed on his feet, only to be met by several tags with some writings on them floating next to him. The tags slowly ignited before exploding, making Raiden shield his eyes with his hands.
Then out of the dust that was collected sword tip came at Raiden along with a kunai which were showed to be held by Sasuke and Naruto respectively, before the tip of each stopper near Raiden's heart and neck.
"Got ya," Naruto said with a smirk.
"Did you, now?" Raiden said with his own smirk, making both Naruto and Sasuke looked confused only to hear some sizzling come from below them. They looked down to see that Raiden holding his hands with both his index and middle fingers extended, both pointed at their hearts with lightning emanating from the tips.
Then Raiden brought his hands behind his back and eased his posture. "Well done, Naruto, Sasuke. You've proven yourselves to be capable of attending Mortal Kombat."
Naruto and Sasuke eased their postures and put their weapons away, along with deactivating their powered states.
The rest of their friends began cheering them.
"Nice going, guys!"
"A very youthful fight indeed!"
"Congrats!"
Naruto smiled at his friends before giving them a thumbs up, while Sasuke only slightly smiled.
"So we passed your test?" Sasuke asked.
"Indeed you did," Raiden said. "I have to admit, you pushed me more than I thought you would. Not since my fight with Shinnok did I have to use my power to such an extent."
Naruto raised an eyebrow. "And who is that Shinnok guy?"
Raiden's expression almost turned into a frown. "Shinnok was a fallen Elder God that had an ambition of conquering and bringing death, which is why he the other Elder Gods brought him down from grace." Raiden's voice turned somber. "I was the one who ended up fighting him, back when I was a young god. Our fight ended up destroying a civilization, and we almost destroyed the world I was supposed to protect. I sealed him away at the end," he said before looking down at the ground "But I wish my carelessness didn't bring such destruction."
Naruto and Sasuke then began feeling bad for the thunder god, his every word showing that what happened put great emotional weight on his shoulders.
"But, we should focus on preserving your realm," Raiden said before putting his hand up. His staff wiggled at the place he left it before it flew back into his hand.
The rest of the Leaf Twelve came over, seeing that Raiden had something to say.
"Now, you are given a month to prepare for the tournament. By that time you should gather who you deem worthy to join and train as much as you can. I warn you, Mortal Kombat is very perilous, so don't take it lightly."
"Is there anything you can tell us about the tournament?" Shino asked. "How it functions, who will we fight?"
"I cannot disclose much, but the fighting usually happens one on one in a ring. Sometimes they change the arena, or they have more than one fighter compete. I cannot give you anything specific on the fighters, I am forbidden from doing so."
"Then tell us one more thing," Sasuke said. "When I looked at you with my Sharingan, the flow of your chakra was… unusual to say the least. Normally chakra flows in a pattern through a special circulatory system, while yours flows sporadically."
"The answer is simple, Sasuke," Raiden said. "What I use isn't chakra. But magic."
"Wait, you use actual magic?" Naruto asked to which Raiden nodded.
"I do," Raiden said. "Unlike your chakra, magic is a different source of power, one more prominent in other realms, while seemingly none of it exists in yours. We theorized that that's the reason why you weren't noticed before."
"Can any of the fighters use magic?" Shikamaru asked.
"Yes, they can, and they will," Raiden said. "But that is all I can tell you. We will have to meet each other in a month where I will come to bring you to Outworld, where the Mortal Kombat will be held. Until then, farewell."
He brought his hand up, and once again teleported away via lightning.
Sasuke then looked at Naruto. "Looks like we'll need to do some training."
Naruto gave him a smile. "We sure do," he said before looking over at the training ground. "Man, this training ground sure has a knack for testing us."
Sasuke couldn't help but nod at that.
"At any rate, we should report this to the Hokage," Shikamaru said. "I'm sure she would like to know what Raiden said."
They agreed and began walking away from the training ground.
The next month will definitely prove to be an interesting one.
AN: And that is it for now! I really hope you enjoyed it. It was mostly a fight scene, but I hope I've written it well enough.
And I implore you to check out my other stories as well, you won't regret it. And leave a review, they are great motivators.
See you next time!
