Mortal Kombat: Elemental Realm
AN: Hello there, my dear readers! I'm here to give you another chapter of MK ER (not sure if this will stick, but hey). I hope these next three fights don't bore you!
Now to reviews.
IlluminHeaven: Umm... what?
Akakiru: Yes, I know what those are, but I just didn't understand what you meant with 'without pairings we need new fatalities'. I don't get what that means.
Guest: Well, we did see Scorpion forfeit the fight in the latest animated MK movie so people can give up if they wish. Though, let's be honest, they don't usually get opportunities.
Dragonninja1983: That's gonna be kinda impossible to do considering they aren't in the tournament. Sorry, but I can't have everyone.
DarkShadowRaven: I'm glad you're enjoying it.
jexcel: Shikamaru wasn't alone in that first fight with Hidan. It was more of a Asuma vs Hidan anyway. And I could also have had Ermac kill Shikamaru immediately. And no, Kaguya isn't star level.
bturner3898: I can, but I most likely won't. I see no reason to.
benedict616z: Thank you!
Narutoreader750: Shao Kahn has plenty of people to keep the Otsutsukis busy.
I'm not sure. If you put that into perspective, then Earthrealm has fighters on a similar level so I don't see the Naruto world farring any better.
Kano doesn't need to rear back his head to fire his laser, he can do it instantly. He was obviously faking a headbutt before firing his laser as a trick but Kotal reacted to the laser regardless.
7 Royal Rumble!
The crowd in the arena began cheering the moment that Goro's name was announced. The Shokan prince had a great reputation as a kombatant, earning Shao Kahn many victories throughout the centuries. Many thought that Goro was more than enough for the tournament, that he could defeat anyone from this Elemental Realm.
"Go, brother," Duroc said with a smirk, his bottom arms crossed while his upper right pointed at the ring. "You don't want to disappoint the crowd."
Goro chuckled. "Never," he said before walking to the center of the arena.
Duroc smiled as he saw his little brother go for in the arena, arms raised in the air as the people chanted 'GO-RO! GO-RO! GO-RO!'
"I hope he doesn't humiliate as Sheeva did," Rain said with his arms crossed and his gaze fixated on the fight that was about to happen.
Duroc scoffed at the ninja's skepticism. "Sheeva is one thing," Duroc said. "But Goro is a whole other. If he fought that woman, I have no doubts that Goro would have torn her limb from limb."
His words held no arrogance, only a simple truth. Among the Shokan, he and Goro were by far the strongest, only matched by Kintaro and possibly their father, king Gorbak. They even fought each other, as is the tradition. Duroc won most of the time, but Goro more than made it up the last century and even beat Duroc. They only had to fight several more times to see which one of them would be the true heir to king Gorbak.
No, there was no doubt in Duroc's mind that Goro would win this.
Kurotsuchi looked at the towering creature that was to be her opponent. The people in the crowd seemed to love him very much. None of the previous kombatants got such a reaction.
She then felt a hand on her shoulder and saw her grandfather, the Third Tsuchikage floating behind her.
"Be very careful, Kurotsuchi," he said in a serious voice. "It doesn't take much to figure out that this Goro is more dangerous than any other fighter from before. Use all you have, and play smart."
Kurotsuchi smirked. "Don't worry gramps. I got this in the bag. I would be a disappointing Tsuchikage if I didn't."
"That boy from the Hidden Mist was also a Kage material, and look where that got him," Onoki argued. "Keep your arrogance in check. And please…" His voice turned from stern to a more grandfatherly. "…be careful."
Kurotsuchi was honestly surprised by this. Her grandfather didn't really speak to her in such a tone before, with his gruff attitude and all. She then gave him a nod and a smile. "I will, grandfather."
A smile graced Onoki's lips when he heard that, but was quickly replaced with worry as he saw her go to meet her opponent. He floated back to the Kage booth where the others were.
"Have more faith in your future successor, fence-sitter," Ay said. "She knows how to take care of herself."
"Her opponent looks like he could snap you in two with barely any effort," Onoki commented. "So excuse me if I'm just a little worried about her safety."
"Let us hope that you're worry is misplaced," Gaara said, with Onoki only nodding, also hoping that he was only being paranoid.
Kurotsuchi stood across her opponent, who only grinned as he looked down at her. Goro let out a low chuckle as he cracked all four of his hands.
"Sheeva has humiliated us by her performance," Goro said. "So, as a prince of the Shokan race, it is my duty to restore our honor." He then spread his arms as he got ready for a fight.
Kurotsuchi smirked before getting into her battle stance. "Well then 'prince', you better get ready to get your royal ass kicked."
"FIGHT!"
With surprising speed, Goro was already upon the young kunoichi, who was surprised to see him move so fast. Goro let out several swift punches, forcing Kurotsuchi back with barely enough time to react to each punch.
One of the arms went past her guard and Goro gave her a mighty backhand that sent her flying before she skidded on the floor, letting out several grunts as she did. She soon recovered and quickly got to her feet, but stumbled a bit before coughing, spilling some blood as she did so.
"Hah, is that all?!" Goro taunted. "You should put up a better fight than that; otherwise, this will bore me soon."
The Hidden Stone kunoichi wiped the blood from her lips before gaining a determined look on her face. "Oh, that was barely a start. You'll see just what I'm capable of!"
Kurotsuchi quickly let out several hand-signs before the ground seemingly swallowed her up, making Goro raise an eyebrow. He looked around, trying to see if she would appear. Then hearing some rumbling he looked down before Kurosuchi burst up from the ground with an uppercut ready. Goro then reacted by double-punching her, smirking at the futile attempt. Then to his surprise, Kurotsuchi turned into solid earth before being obliterated by the force of his attack, scattering rubble around him.
Then Goro felt something wrap around his leg but didn't have enough time to react as he was also being pulled down into the ground, barely letting out a surprised gasp as he sank.
Kurotsuchi then quickly appeared from the ground and jumped back into the arena. Her distraction worked. Not it was the time for the next part.
"Earth Style: Core Prison Jutsu!" she shouted as she finished a series of hand-signs before slamming both of her hands on the ground. Loud rumbling was heard as the earth beneath her shook and the coloring turned darker.
She smirked as she saw her plan working. This jutsu had the ability to turn the ground denser, and trapping your opponent inside it, with the density making it impossible to get out as you suffocate inside.
At the stands, Onoki smiled as he saw his granddaughter catch that behemoth off-guard. That was a very sound strategy, one he hoped would work.
Kurotsuchi looked down, hoping that it was enough to stop Goro, but her hopes were dashed away as she saw the ground crack beneath her. She quickly moved away as a fist punched through, before the rest of Goro quickly got out of the dense prison, the Shokan prince only looking angrier.
Goro then dusted himself as he stared at Kurotsuchi. "Any more tricks up your sleeves?" he asked as he saw her tense. "Then I'll show you mine." He then took a deep breath before opening his mouth wide, and a huge stream of fire shot out straight at Kurotsuchi.
Now with her turn to be surprised, she quickly went through hand-signs and put her hands on the ground. A wall of solid stone appeared in front of her, blocking the fire. The heat was so intense that she began to sweat quickly. There probably wasn't a fire jutsu that she faced that was this powerful.
Her wall, despite being even stronger than a usual one, quickly began to crack, not able to handle the pressure of the flames. Kurotsuchi then quickly jumped upwards to avoid the flaming stream as it broke through her wall, be then was her eyes widened as a large shadow came over her. Looking up she saw Goro was also in the air, a big smirk on his face as two arms were pulled back for a punch. She didn't have time to react as Goro struck, with his upper fist impacting her face while the other struck her chest.
The Stone kunoichi was sent crashing on the ground, the impact making a small crater on the ground as dust rose from it. In the stands, Onoki gasped as he observed what was going on, with the others looking very worried.
Goro landed on the ground where there was a huge black spot that was created by his fire and walked to the crater. He saw Kurtosuchi trying to rise up but she stumbled a bit before spitting out blood.
"What a shame? But the outcome was expected," Goro said. "Now, to finish you off."
Kurotsuchi's eyes then shot open before she quickly turned her head to face Goro before spitting some black substance from her mouth. Goro was caught off guard as the burning black liquid hit him in the face. His hands went to the black substance that was quickly hardening but his hands were now stuck as well the moment they came in contact with it.
Kurotsuchi smirked. She was able to surprise him and blind him with the quicklime jutsu, but she knew she couldn't risk waiting for him to suffocate. She rose up and quickly went through a series of hand-sings, after which several large rock pillars emerged from the ground and went at Goro, striking at him like a rock tsunami.
Goro was able to destroy the quicklime that was on his face but was met by the stone attack, striking him with a barrage of pillars and pushing him back. After several moments like this, Goro had enough. He let out a roar as he began punching the rocks that assaulted him, turning them to rubble. He then moved forward, punching through the rock avalanche. He powered through the entire attack and met Kurotsuchi head on again, delivering a mighty kick in her abdomen that again made her spit blood.
Not stopping there, Goro then began punching, his strikes going at speeds that Kurotsuchi had no chance to react to, with each punch breaking bone easily. Another double-punch threw the kunoichi on the ground again.
Goro stood over the bloodied Kurotsuchi, who barely let out several whimpers as the only response that she was still alive. Smirking at his obvious victory, Goro raised all four of his hands in the air, ready to slam them down and finish her off. The crowd cheered at the spectacular show and was ready to see Goro kill yet another combatant.
"ENOUGH!"
The booming voice was soon followed by a thunder strike that appeared in front of Goro, making the Shokan prince look surprised as he saw Raiden now standing in front of him. Raiden then put two fingers on Goro's chest and made a blast of lighting that sent Goro flying back dozens of meters before he landed in front of the other Outworld kombatants.
The entire arena was in complete silence, everyone was completely surpriseed by what Raiden just did. Shao Kahn on the other hand frowned deeply as he glared at the thunder god. He rose from his throne.
"What is the meaning of this, Raiden?" Shao Kahn demanded. "You cannot just interrupt a fight like this. You know the rules as well as I do."
"That is true, Shao Kahn," Raiden said as he faced the former defender god of Outworld. "That is also why I broke no rules. The woman was unconscious, which means that she lost. Goro was about to kill someone that was already out of the tournament. You should be thanking me for preventing him from getting disqualified."
The two glared at each other, Raiden's white eyes looking straight into Shao Kahn's yellow slitted ones. Raiden knew that Shao Kahn was aware that Kurotsuchi was knocked out but was ready to have Goro kill her and then feign ignorance if it was found out.
With a grumble, Shao Kahn sat back on his throne and exclaimed. "GORO WINS!"
The crowd quickly went to cheer for the victory of Goro, who was attended to by Duroc as he was busy glaring daggers at the thunder god. Raiden then used his telekinesis to lift Kurotsuchi's beaten form, not wanting to risk making her injuries worse. With a lighting teleport, he was back with the ninjas who looked worriedly at their comrade.
"Ms. Haruno, Ms. Yamanaka, I'll need your assistance for this," Raiden called causing Sakura and Ino to nod their heads simultaneously as they quickly ran over to Kurotsuchi who was slowly put down by Raiden.
Onoki quickly flew over to them, watching his granddaughter intently as she was being healed by the two kunoichi.
"You have nothing to worry, Onoki," Raiden's voice snapped the Third Tsuchikage out of his daze as he looked at the thunderer. "Your granddaughter is going to make it, her injuries will be completely healed in a short while."
Onoki looked back at Kurotsuchi, tears threatening to stream down his eyes. He then turned back at Raiden and bowed. "I am eternally grateful for your help, lord Raiden. I don't know what I would do if she died at the hands of that monster."
Raiden put his hand up. "You may raise your head. I only did what was right. I couldn't let her be unjustly killed."
"Even so, I'll never forget what you did for us."
The rest of the Kages couldn't help but smile at the sight, even Ay couldn't help it. For all their teachings requiring them not to put personal attachments forward, they were more than happy to see this sight.
"I've never seen Onoki so vulnerable before," Ay commented.
"I'm not surprised," Mei commented. "He is only human, after all."
"The next battle is about to begin!" Shao Kahn's booming voice quickly enveloped the arena as people looked anxiously. "The next fight, Temari against… Kitana!"
The blue-clad princess of Outworld wasted no time to walk in the middle of the arena and briefly looking at her father before giving him a nod, a gesture showing she didn't plan on failing him.
"Temari," Shikamaru said to the sand kunoichi before she could take a step to the arena. "Now it's your time to be careful."
Temari smiled at him. "Don't worry, I'll take care of myself," she said before walking to her opponent.
Once they were facing each other, Temari quickly took out her large fan and held it behind her, with Katana taking out her regular-sized blue fans that were adorned with blades, holding one in the front and one at the back. Temari was actually surprised that the woman she was facing was also a fan user like herself.
"Now… FIGHT!"
Temari acted quickly and swung her battle fan, a large gust of wind was sent at Kitana who reacted by jumping upwards, the gust flying past her. She then made a front flip and extended her leg for a kick, but Temari was able to close her fan and use the metal as a shield as she felt the kick connect.
The sand kunoichi grunted as the force of the kick moved her back a bit, her feet leaving an imprint on the ground before throwing Kitana off her, with the princess landing gracefully on the ground. Just as she did, Temari swung her fan again, this time the wind turning into a series of wind blades that threatened to shred Kitana apart, but the Outworld kunoichi opened her fans and swung them in a wide arc, dispersing Temari's wind attack.
Kitana then made a swing that sent her own wind attack at Temari, who decided to react in a similar manner and dispersed the attack with her own swing, but was then surprised to see that Kitana herself was already close to her. Temari closed her fan and barely blocked a stab from Kitana but was soon assaulted by several more slashing and stabbing attacks. Kitana then brought both of her fans together, grabbing Temari's fan with the blades, giving Kitana an opening to deliver a kick to Temari's face, forcing the Sand Kunoichi back.
Barely avoiding another wind attack, Temari was quickly set upon by Kitana again, once again forced on the defensive. Temari had to admit that Kitana was really good, and moved incredibly well despite fighting in high heels. Temari then moved away from a slashing strike that she went to counter with a wind blast but Kitana ducked under the attack, with her back almost touching the ground.
The moment the attack passed her, Kitana swung her fans, creating a miniature tornado that quickly enveloped Temari, making her exclaim in surprise as the unexpected attack flung her upwards. Kitana then jumped to meet her opponent and used her bladed fans to disarm her of the giant battle fan before kicking her down.
Temari landed with a grunt and tried to quickly get up. This wasn't good. The woman she was fighting was obviously more skilled than she was. She needed to think of something, fast.
Looking up, Temari saw Kitana dropping down, her blades pointed at Temari. The sand kunoichi moved as Kitana landed, her bladed fans embedding themselves in the ground. Temari smirked as she saw her opportunity, making a sweeping kick that disarmed Kitana of her fans before delivering a punch to the masked woman's cheek.
While Kitana was stunned, Temari decided to run over to her discarded fan, knowing that she couldn't win without it. As Temari almost closed the distance, Kitana jumped right in between her and her weapon, though she wasn't brandishing her own fans.
"Nice try," Kitana said as she engaged Temari hand-to-hand.
Temari was forced to block the princess' attacks, but wasn't really able to counter. While she wouldn't say her taijutsu was bad, it was definitely lacking compared to her wind jutsu. However, fortune seemed to smile at Temari as she saw an opening in Kitana's guard. She went for a kick to Kitana's side, but soon found her leg caught by Kitana's arm. Temari's eyes widened as she only now realized she was tricked into a trap.
Kitana slammed her elbow into Temari's knee; a large crack was heard as Temari's leg was bent in the wrong way making her scream in pain. Kitana then threw her opponent down which made her grunt in further in pain from her broken leg. Temari then felt cold steel touching her neck and opened her eyes to see Kitana glaring at her while she held to fans to her neck.
"Do you surrender?" Kitana asked in a threatening voice as she glared at the downed kunoichi.
Temari weighed her options, thinking of what she might do in this situation. She honestly wasn't sure if she could do anything without Kitana instantly slitting her throat, and even she could throw Kitana off of her, her broken leg would make it impossible to fight.
"I… I…" Temari stammered before giving a sigh. "I surrender."
Kitana smiled behind her mask and withdrew from her opponent, sheathing her fans in the process.
"The winner… Kitana!"
With Shao Kahn's exclamation, the crowd cheered at the princess, who bowed before her father and walked back at the stands. Kitana's sister, Mileena was waiting for her with crossed arms and a somewhat disapproving look.
"You should have killed her," Mileena said.
"It would hardly have been a worthy kill," Kitana said, causing Mileena to just shrug in response.
Temari was back with her allies, her leg already being attended to by Raiden. Temari herself looked disappointed in herself. She failed to secure a victory and now they were on the losing side.
"Don't blame yourself," Shikamaru said, gaining her attention. "You couldn't have beaten her, so surrendering was the best option. At least you'll live to fight another day."
Temari smiled at him before glancing at her younger brother, with Gaara giving her a smile and a nod, just happy that his sister was alive and well.
Deciding not to waste any more time, Shao Kahn went to proclaim the next match. "And now, Hinata Hyuuga… versus Mileena!"
Hinata gulped as she heard her name be called. With the number of kombatants narrowing down, she knew that her turn would come soon. But after seeing the last two fights she wasn't sure if she was up for the task.
"Hinata."
The Hyuuga almost jumped in surprise at the sudden mentioning of her name, and a blush adorned her cheeks as she saw that it was Naruto was calling her.
"Don't be discouraged," he said in an assuring manner. "You are strong, so give it all you got. I believe in you."
Hinata could only smile at her crush's words and moved to the arena. She then saw the woman she was supposed to fight waiting for her. Once they faced each other, Hinata activated her Byakugan eyes as veins became visible around them and got into her battle stance. Mileena took out two sai and got into a battle stance as well.
"FIGHT!"
The moment the word was shouted, Mileena wasted no time in charging at her opponent, her sai moving in a stabbing motion. Hinata saw the move coming and, deflected the attacks with her palms, before going for a palm strike to Mileena's chest but the purple kunoichi moved away from the attack.
Mileena then went for a counter but it was deflected by Hinata's palm as she countered back with Mileena again avoiding it. This caused the two women to go through a repeated motion of avoiding and countering each other.
Mileena decided to change her approach and made a few backflips to move away from Hinata. The Leaf kunoichi wondered what her opponent was doing and was on the watch for anything unusual. Then a purple light appeared behind Mileena, with her moving backward and disappearing. Hinata's eyes widened at the strange occurrence, and if it weren't for three hundred sixty degree vision that the Byakugan provided, she probably wouldn't have seen Mileena appear behind her.
Hinata moved away from the sai stabs, with one of them slashing her cheek. Hinata then moved her palm to strike at Mileena, who was still surprised that her attack failed, and the palm struck her in the stomach, with the chakra in them dealing damage to her muscles, stunning her. Hinata then swipe-kicked Mileena's legs, and before she could fall, Hinata then made another palm strike, this one hitting her in the face and making her fly back.
Hinata smiled as she saw the success of her attack, and quickly went back to focus on her opponent who was now recovering. Hinata was then surprised as she looked at her opponent, with her mask being obliterated by the last palm strike, revealing the sharp teeth that were hidden underneath.
"Argh, how dare you!" Mileena screeched as she noticed her mask was gone. "I'll make you pay!"
In a rage Mileena charged at Hinata, striking wildly with her sai. The attacks came quickly, forcing Hinata to go on the defensive, with Mileena actually able to deliver a kick to Hinata's stomach, but the Hyuuga quickly recovered, and deflected both of Mileena's attacks, and delivered a strike to Mileena's right shoulder with her index and middle fingers.
Mileena gasped in pain and moved away from Hinata, but her right arm felt limp and she couldn't move it. Hinata then charged at Mileena, making her block the attacks with her single arm but Hinata was able to disarm Mileena with a palm strike, and hitting Mileena in the chest, making her spill blood. Hinata then delivered a kick to Mileena's side, and several more palm strikes in the stomach, shoulder, and chest, after all of which the purple kunoichi fell on her back.
The daughter of Shao Kahn tried to get up but that only caused her to cough more blood. Her limbs felt like they were made of jelly, and every movement hurt.
Shao Kahn glared at the downed Mileena, trying to see if his daughter could get up and continue fighting. After a minute, he saw that there would be no results.
"Winner… Hinata Hyuuga!"
Hinata let out a sigh of relief as the crowd around her cheered. She won. She actually won. She was glad that Naruto's faith in her wasn't for nothing.
Then Hinata noticed Kitana walking up to Mileena, and helping her get up. Kitana then wrapped Mileena's good around her shoulder and helped her walk back.
"I'm sorry, sister," Mileena said as she moved her head away, trying to move her face away from Kitana's gaze as if she was ashamed of her teeth.
"It's alright, Mileena," Kitana said in a comforting tone. "You did your best."
Seeing such a sight between the two sisters made Hinata smile, reminding her of the relationship she had with her own sister, Hanabi, and how they became supportive of each other. Then Hinata looked at Shao Kahn, and saw him look at the two retreating sisters with a disappointed expression. Hinata saw a similar expression on her own father when she couldn't meet his expectations, and now she knew that Shao Kahn was a similar type of person. And he didn't seem like the type to change his view like her father did.
Shao Kahn's gaze then moved to Hinata, making her slightly flinch. "Go back to your place. The next match is about to begin."
Hinata only gave a slight glare in response and walked back to her friends. All of them began congratulating her on the victory, Kiba and Naruto especially.
"Now that was simply fantastic!" Kiba said with a toothy grin as Akamaru barked.
Naruto gave her a thumbs up and a wide smile. "You're great, Hinata!"
That one, in particular, made Hinata blush profusely.
"Looks like we are finally making a come-back," Ay said as he looked at the ninjas congratulating Hinata.
"Maybe, but it's still too early to tell," Mei said as her eyes slightly narrowed at Shao Kahn. She had a strange feeling that something wasn't right here. The placement of the fights seemed too… convenient. Rain was capable of countering Chojuro's water abilities, Kitana countered Temari's wind abilities and Goro was able to power through all of Kurotsuchi's attacks. It could be just a coincidence but something in her mind told her it wasn't.
"And now, the next match!" Shao Kahn exclaimed. "Rock Lee against… DUROC!"
AN: And that is it for now! We had three more fights, and in the next one we have Rock Lee versus... a dude you probably don't give a damn for because he was in one of the worst Mortal Kombat products ever. But I assure you that it will be fun.
I also implore you to check out my other stories. You won't regret it. And leave a review, they are great motivators.
See you next time!
