Mother Nature's Affair

Chapter 1: The First Session

In the halls of Arkham Asylum, we see a twenty five year old man walking through them.

He had short blonde hair and blue eyes.

He wore a white lab coat over his scrubs.

He also had a face mask on.

The name on his ID read; Derrick Shane.

He had been living with his aunt and uncle for many years after an incident.

His parents had kicked out his brother Vincent for dealing in Meth. This caused him and his gang to attack the place. Derrick had used a gun in self defense, shooting the leader's brother. For protection, he had been living in Gotham for years now, eventually getting his doctorate in psychology, and beginning work at Arkham asylum.

Derrick looked worried.

Of course he did.

This was his first session with Pamela Lillian Isley.

Aka; Poison Ivy.

The male shrink had heard many stories about the seductive villain.

How she often seduced her doctors with special pheromones she used.

That's why Derrick had the face mask on.

So it could block out the pheromones.

Soon, Derrick came into the room that held her cell.

A chair in front of it.

As he looked into the cell, he saw Pamela there, with her usual green skin, red hair, leafy panties over a shapely ass and a red jacket that covered her impressive chest.

When Ivy saw her doctor, she instantly shot up to her feet and said, "doctor, please, you have to let me out!"

As Derrick sat down, he responded with, "sorry Miss Isley, but I can't let you out of your cell."

Ivy tried using her seductive nature and pheromones.

Ivy, "are you sure there's nothing I could do to persuade you?"

Derrick, "sorry Miss Isley. The mask keeps me from breathing in your love dust."

Ivy, "oh, please Doc, call me Ivy."

Derrick, "sorry, that's against the rules."

Ivy frowned a bit.

He wasn't as easy as the other doctors.

She liked that.

She decided against using her powers to seduce him.

It had been a long time since she had been offered a challenge.

Ivy, "very well, Doctor…?"

Derrick, "Doctor Derrick Shane. I've read your file, so I know who you are Miss Isley."

Ivy, "hmm, you're certainly different from my previous doctors. What shall we talk about?"

Derrick, "I figured we'd go over what exactly makes you do what you do?"

Ivy, "whatever do you mean?"

Derrick, "you claim to want to save the planet and all of plant life from humanity."

Ivy, "indeed. Humans are always killing my precious babies! I hate you humans!"

Derrick, "and yet you seem to maintain a friendship with Miss Quinzel, before and after she became involved with Mr. Napier."

Ivy, "you mean Joker?"

Derrick, "I try not to call anyone by their villain names. So I refer to, 'The Joker', by one of his many names. Jack Napier. Now, back to Miss Quinzel?"

Ivy, "Harley is an exception to my hatred of humankind. She may be insane, but she cares for plants, and has grown on me, hehe, pun intended."

Derrick, "okay then. Now, you claim to want to protect plant life?"

Ivy, "more than my life itself."

Derrick, "well, you don't really do much of it."

Ivy grimaced, "excuse me?"

Derrick, "you often use plants to attack Gotham, and hardly try to help plants grow in other places. Also, various animals, and even human children destroy plants. And yet they are innocent creatures."

Ivy started to see his logic.

Ivy, "and so what? I value plant life, my babies, but am constantly halted in my protection."

Derrick, "I am well aware of your numerous tanglings with Batman. But, if you'll permit me, I think I have an idea as to why you feel such a strong need to protect the planet. And it doesn't involve your powers."

Ivy started to become intrigued.

Ivy, "well then, what is it?"

Derrick, "you often talk about the Earth, the planet, and plant life as if they were your actual children. You see yourself as their mother. Their protector. And I believe it may stem from the desire to bear an actual child from your body."

Ivy was in silence for a moment.

Ivy, "so you're saying that I want to have a baby, and use my duty of protecting the planet from humanity as an excuse?"

Derrick, "it's only a theory. I could be wrong. It is clear you have some sort of connection to the Earth that can't be rationally explained. That's what most of the doctors try to do with all of our patients. Treat any powers or affliction they have as a medical condition. Take Mr. Jones for an example. They say he has a rare skin condition that causes his appearance, but what skin condition could make you bulletproof, makes you develop sharp teeth, and grow to such a huge size?"

Ivy had to agree on that one.

Derrick, "or Mr. Fries. He's not really insane, but he does indeed have an obsession. He froze his wife in suspended animation in order to cure the disease she has. He puts it above his own needs. Even after his accident that caused him to develop blue skin, and the inability to leave a cold temperature. If and when he does cure his wife, what would he do about himself? He couldn't be that intimate with her. His affliction is real, and not a matter of the mind. Even Bane. The man has superhuman strength caused by a drug. If you took that away, he's a drug addict. He can't quit the stuff. And the drug fuels his desire to become strong enough to break Batman. All three of these men have clear super powered abilities; either by their physiology, an accident, or a simple drug."

Ivy gave Derrick credit, he was one of the more competent doctors in Arkham.

Ivy, "well, you make good points."

Derrick, "and I have plenty of examples. Some patients such as Nigma, Crane, Dent, and Zsas are just men with issues. Nigma is a gifted inventor and makes some intriguing puzzles, but is also an egomaniac with a tendency to prove that he's the smartest man in Gotham. Crane was a gifted doctor, but his obsession with studying fear itself is what I think caused his mind to shatter, in order for him to try and prove some form of explanation as to what everyone fears. Dent has a split personality that became more prevalent after half of his face was scarred, with that kind of trauma both literally and figuratively splitting him in two. Zsas is a man that needs serious help. The man has the tendency to cut himself, and sees everyone as a simple mark to put on his body."

Ivy, "hmm, and what of other patients?"

Derrick found himself smiling.

If she was listening, that meant he was getting somewhere with her.

Derrick, "hmm, well, patients such as Quinzel are still human, but have extreme skill with acrobatics. She developed a fixation on Napier, one deprived of a blind love, and affection from a man, something she may not have had for a long time. If someone could get through to her, she could finally see Napier as a monster."

Ivy, "I take it you don't like Joker either?"

Derrick, "I understand what happened to him. He went through some sort of incident, one that has yet to he found out, he was disfigured, and driven mad. But even if he is insane, it doesn't excuse all of the lives he's taken. All of the people he's hurt. I think he should be in an actual prison, with shrinks being a secondary priority."

Ivy actually found herself interested in everything Derrick said. He seemed to actually know what he was talking about. Many of the doctors gave diagnoses that weren't too accurate to the patients.

Ivy, "and, what does that have to do with me?"

Derrick, "I'm getting to that. All of Arkhams patients, including you, whether they have super powers or not, each have something in common."

Ivy, "Batman?"

Such a predictable answer.

Derrick, "no."

Ivy wasn't expecting that.

Derrick, "Batman has his own issues, especially with what he does, but uses it in a positive way. But even if he wasn't around, most of Arkham's patients would still be like they are."

Ivy, "well then, what?"

Derrick, "you all have a goal that seems unreachable."

Ivy tilted her head in confusion.

Derrick, "Jones wants to be normal, but his mutation and behavior makes it almost impossible to happen. Dent wants everything to be decided by chance, but that is entirely impossible to make a reality. Nigma wants to prove himself, but can't acknowledge his flaws. Quinzel has a clear obsession to make Napier love her, but she can't realize the whole thing is fruitless. Fries is always so close to finding a cure, but there's always something missing that he needs to do, which correlates to his own affliction. Crane has an obsession with explaining fear, but the concept is irrational. Napier seems to just want to watch the world burn, and will kill anyone who doesn't see things the same way. And finally, you Ms. Isley."

Ivy found herself hanging onto Derricks every word. Something that almost never happened to her.

Derrick, "you have a righteous cause, but because of your actions, it always remains out of your grasp. You could easily help plant life if you worked with good men who also want what you do."

Ivy could see his logic, as much as she wished she couldn't. She had hated humans for so long, and here comes this one, who's able to find logic for everything the patients do.

For once, she found herself attracted to someone.

Derrick, "I'm sorry if I went on a tangent there. I often get lost in my studies."

Ivy, "no, no, it's quite alright. Truth be told, I think you're the first doctor that I've actually listened to, and found interesting."

Derrick found himself excited about that, "well, I'm just doing my job. We have to treat our patients like people if we want to help them."

Ivy put on a seductive grin and said, "you can treat me however you want…."

Derrick cleared his throat, "ahem, yes, well, I think that's all the time we have for now. I will see you tomorrow for our next session. We'll talk more about you next time."

Ivy, "I'll be waiting.

Ivy laid down in a seductive pose as Derrick composed himself and made his way out of the room.

Ivy thought, "he's so cute when he's flustered. I'll enjoy making him mine…."

….

Later, we see Derrick enter his apartment. He still lived near his aunt and uncle's place, but he now had his own place with a thirty minute commute to Arkham.

As Derrick took off his lab coat and scrubs, getting into a t-shirt and sweatpants, he found his mind wandering.

To a certain green-skinned woman.

He tried to keep his thoughts steady, but he found himself wondering what it would be like to touch her?

To feel her?

To kiss her?

Derrick tried to chalk it up to her pheromones, but he remembered that the mask had kept the love dust at bay.

So he had to realize, he was forming a genuine attraction to the plant woman.

But he couldn't act on it.

He was a doctor.

She was his patient.

If she were no longer a villain, and out of Arkham, maybe.

Until then, their, "relationship", was strictly between doctor and patient….

….

This story was a request by a reader. The story, (set in the Arkham-verse), is about Derrick, a male shrink, who becomes romantically involved with Ivy, leading to her becoming pregnant later on. They would have a daughter named Rose.

This first chapter is meant to show us that Derrick is actually a smart doctor who wants to help Ivy, and has great knowledge of Batman's enemies.

Other chapters may be longer, so just remember that.
