Mother Nature's Affair

Chapter 2: Growing Feelings

Derrick has just sat down, and could see Ivy smiling at him.

Ivy, "hello Derrick. I missed you."

Derrick, "keep your flirting to yourself Miss Isley."

Ivy, "oh, but it's so much fun to see you become so flustered."

Derrick, "ahem, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to move onto our session."

Ivy, "oh yes, where were we?"

Derrick, "I thought we'd talk about the incident that transformed you, if that's alright?"

Ivy hesitated for a moment.

Ivy, "you're referring to what happened between me and Doctor Woodrow, right?"

Derrick, "yes. Records show that you and him were colleagues, researching various plants, conducting experiments, etcetera. And that eventually, he tried to kill you, and thus caused your transformation into, well, you know."

Ivy, "I was treated as more of an assistant. Jason treated me as nothing more. Until…."

Derrick, "until what?"

Ivy, "I tried dressing more attractively, in order to gain his attention. I started wearing contacts, styled my hair, wore more revealing clothes underneath my lab coat. It worked. Too well."

Derrick, "reports never mentioned this. They said you were colleagues, nothing more. What exactly did Dr. Woodrew do?"

Ivy held a pained look.

Derrick, "he touched you, didn't he?"

Ivy nodded.

Derrick held a grimace and muttered, "bastard."

Ivy heard him, but didn't comment.

Ivy, "he went from treating me like nothing but a posted note, to a sex object. At first, I convinced myself that I wanted it. Since I had admired him for so long. But over time, it became too much. And then there was the day he…."

Derrick, "it's okay Pamela. You don't have to continue. I've read the report. You don't have to talk about it any further if you don't want to."

Ivy, "no…. It's fine…. After Jason was done with me…. He left me for dead. Like an object. But I didn't. In fact, I had never felt more alive. I felt at one with the planet. Like I was nature's arm. Her spirit. Her will. Hell, I felt like Mother Nature itself!"

Derrick, "easy Pamela. Easy."

Ivy calmed down for a moment.

Ivy, "thank you Derrick. It…. It is alright if I call you Derrick, isn't it?"

Derrick, "that's quite alright. If it makes you feel comfortable Pamela."

Ivy smiled.

Ivy, "anyway, after I was reborn, I went after Jason. I made him pay for the things he did to me. Every single thing."

Derrick, "while I can't condone murder, even if he did do those things to you, I understand your reasoning. He was a man you trusted and had feelings for. He exploited those feelings, and when he was done with you, he thought he could throw you out like trash. You had a right to be angry."

Ivy almost couldn't believe what she heard.

Someone actually took her side in the subject.

No other doctor had ever said she was justified in her anger.

She felt some form of admiration towards the doctor.

Ivy, "thank you Derrick."

Derrick, "it's no trouble Pamela. It's my job. You've had a rough couple of years. You've been betrayed by a man you thought loved you, were brought back from the grave as what you are now, and have dealt with constant fights among the people of Gotham. You desire your own child to protect, and wish to protect the planet. If you want to have a better life, you need help. And I'm happy to help you."

Ivy, "t-thank you Derrick. Noone's ever really offered to help me before."

Derrick, "well, maybe it's time someone did."

Both of them smiled at one another.

It seemed like things were only going to get better from here….

….

Over the course of the next week, Derrick and Ivy had only grown closer together as they continued their sessions.

Both would listen to one another every day.

Slowly, the line between patient and friend began to blur. They tried to keep their affection towards one another hidden, but you could tell they had feelings for one another.

And on this day, their friendship was tested.

As Derrick finished talking about the subject of Ivy's start in science, she asked, "what about your family?"

Derrick, "pardon?"

Ivy, "your family? You've never really talked about them. Meanwhile, we've talked a lot about mine."

Derrick, "I'm not sure if I should talk about that subject."

Ivy, "but, Derrick, aren't we friends? You can trust me."

As crazy as it sounded, Derrick did find himself capable of trusting Ivy.

Derrick, "alright then. I had a good childhood. Good parents, a lot of friends. A brother. We lived a couple miles from Gotham. But, one day, my parents found out that my brother was dealing with meth. They kicked him out. Soon after, he and his gang attacked us. My parents died, but I lived through the whole thing. For protection, I went to live with my aunt and uncle here in Gotham. I went to college and got my doctorate. And that brings us to here and now."

Ivy found herself actually saddened by the story.

Ivy, "oh, Derrick, I'm sorry. I had no idea."

Derrick, "it's fine. I've lived with the pain for a long time."

Ivy, "if you ever need to talk, I'll be right here for you."

Derrick, "heh, that's my job."

Ivy, "it doesn't mean you don't deserve any pain."

Derrick gave Ivy a smile before saying, "thank you Ivy."

That caused both of their eyes to widen in surprise. After all of this time, Derrick had only ever called her Pamela or Ms. Isley.

Never Ivy.

Ivy smirked, "I like it when you call me that…."

Derrick, "sorry, I, uh, didn't mean to call you that."

Ivy, "it's quite alright. Now, I'll see you tomorrow."

Derrick, "right, I will see you tomorrow."

Derrick left with a huge blush on his face.

And as another two weeks went on, it seemed to become a pattern between the two of them.

They talked about one another during their sessions, and it would always end with Derrick and/or Ivy blushing up a storm.

Their talks would range a huge number of topics.

Usually about Ivy, but sometimes they would talk about Derrick.

And in their most recent session, things started to escalate.

Ivy, "I know you say it doesn't bother you, but it clearly does."

Derrick, "I don't think we should be talking about this Ivy."

Ivy, "you've never even been with a woman, how can I not bring it up?"

Derrick, "you just don't. I've just never found the right woman. I'm not sure if I ever will."

Ivy, "you shouldn't give up hope. There must be someone out there for you."

Derrick, "easy for you to say. With your looks and charm, you could have any man or even woman you want."

Ivy, "yes, I could, but I don't. I want…."

Derrick and Ivy shared a look.

They knew how they felt about one another.

It had become painfully obvious as their sessions continued on.

Derrick, "if you weren't a patient here at the asylum, and weren't deemed a super villain, then maybe…."

Ivy, "yes?"

Derrick, "sigh, I know you're my patient Pamela, but, I can't help but find you attractive. You've never even tried to use your pheromones on me, so I know my attraction is real. But I can't act on these feelings as long as I'm your doctor, or if you're in the asylum."

Ivy sighed, "I understand."

Derrick gave a nod as their session ended.

As Derrick and Ivy separated for the day, little did they know what would happen….

….

A few days later, a huge prison riot took place that resulted in several inmates escaping.

Including Ivy.

Derrick had had the day off.

Derrick was currently sitting on the couch, looking at the events of the riot unfold.

Derrick, "shit. I got lucky today. I just hope Pamela's okay."

Right at that moment, Derrick heard a knock at the door.

Derrick, "now who could that be?"

Derrick turned off the television and walked over to the door.

When he opened it, he was met with a very surprising sight!

Ivy was there, bleeding from her left arm that she clutched tightly.

Ivy, "hello Derrick."

Derrick, "Pamela?!"

Ivy nearly collapsed as Derrick caught her. He lead her inside and set her on the couch.

Derrick, "hang on, I'll get you some bandages."

Derrick quickly ran to the kitchen as Ivy said, "I know I've wanted to see your house for quite some time, but I just wish it were under different circumstances."

Derrick, "how did you even find this place?"

Ivy, "my plants. They were able to direct me a path here."

Derrick, "and why the Hell did you decide to come here?"

Ivy, "you were the only one I thought I could trust."

That touched Derrick, despite the situation.

Derrick soon rushed over with a wet rag and first aid kit.

Derrick, "hold your arm out, and try not to move. Were you stabbed or shot?"

Ivy, "a bullet. It went right through me."

Derrick, "okay, so I just have to clean the wound, disinfect it, and bandage it up."

Ivy, "I'd usually heal the wound on its own, but it took a lot of energy to get here."

Derrick nodded as he began.

He started wiping the day over the wound, cleaning the blood. Ivy cringed for a moment, but it passed as the wound was cleaned.

Derrick proceeded to disinfect the wound, earning more than just a cringe from Ivy, as well as a few choice curse words.

Once that was done, Derrick bandaged up the wound.

Derrick, "just keep those bandages on for awhile, at least long enough for you to be able to heal your wound."

Ivy, "right."

Ivy and Derrick sat on the couch, side by side.

They just sat in silence for a good minute before Ivy laid her head on Derricks shoulder.

Derrick looked down, and couldn't help but look at Ivy's breasts. If it weren't for her jacket, they'd pop right out.

Soon, Ivy removed the bandages, showing off her fully healed arm.

Derrick, "you know the police will find you, right?"

Ivy nodded.

Derrick, "and if they find you here, we'll both be in deep shit."

Ivy, "I'll be fine before the cops or Batman find me. I don't wanna risk you getting fired or put in jail. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to see you again."

Derrick, "do you really care for me that much?"

Ivy nodded, "at first, I wanted to seduce you without my pheromones. I haven't had that kind of challenge. But, as our sessions grew more and more frequent, I started to actually fall for you."

Derrick, "are you saying you actually love me?"

Pamela, "yes. You're the first man I've ever loved since…. You know."

Derrick put his arm around Ivy.

Derrick, "I've never been with anyone like this before. Over all of the time we spent together, I think I've started to fall in love with you too."

The two of them looked at one another.

Green eyes meeting blue.

Their faces inched closer together.

Derrick, "Ivy…."

Ivy, "Derrick…."

And at that very moment, their lips met in a passionate kiss.
