Batman managed to catch up with the Joker's blimp. He climbed up into the bottom deck that unfortunately was modified with a laser security system. No doubt the Joker had accounted for him making it aboard and thought that this laser system would slow him down long enough for the Joker to crash the blimp into the heart of Gotham City.
He knew he had to avoid the lasers at all costs and stay away from the gaping holes as well.
Before he started he pulled out his communicator. "Batplane, to my coordinates."
Batman went to the left and jumped on the box before gliding to the switch in front of him. Turning the switch weakened the laser position of the switch near the ladder. Batman returned to the crate and moveed towards the center steel post.
He proceeded to the switch slightly behind the crate which turned off the laser roaming around the other panel. Batman went to the third switch well beyond the starting point and deactivated the final laser grid. With the lasers neutralized Batman proceeded to the ladder.
He reached the top deck and spotted the Joker locking a door that likely led to the bridge. Joker looked over his shoulder, spotting the Dark Knight.
"Well, if it isn't my tenacious little rodent friend?" Joker jumped down from the door, aiming his gun. "You're too late, Bats!"
Batman quickly jumped out of the room and positioned himself next to the door where the bullets wouldn't hit him.
"The autopilot's already set for a fiery laught-riot-land and pow!" Joker laughed.
Batman had to watch out for his gunfire and watch his back as the Joker's gunfire hit crates that released jack-in-the-boxes that immediately began moving towards him. Batman pulled out five batarangs and decapitated all five jacks-in-the- boxes.
Now, he was ready.
The Dark Knight strafed and looked for a suitable position which was near the door. Batman maintained this position as he started throwing Batarangs at Joker after the gunfire subsided. As soon as Batman caught a glimpse of him dropping his weapon, the Caped Crusader immediately leapt out and charged, not hesitating or he'd get the opportunity to pick up his tommy gun and start his trigger happy ways again.
The thing to avoid was his grip. The style was to keep on moving. When he squirted with acid, Batman near him, first kneeing him in the stomach and followed by bring his hands together and slamming them into the Joker's back. Joker grunted but got up, lunching with several punches that Batman blocked or dodged before attacking again.
This time, he lashed out with a high kick that hit Joker in the chin, stunning him. He then kicked the Clown Prince of Crime in the stomach and finally, he swiped his feet at the bottom to knock the Joker's feet out from under him. Joker growled as he rolled back, firing acid at Batman again but the Dark Knight jumped to the side. Joker then jumped at Batman, pinning his arms down to the sides with his legs and started pummeling the Dark Knight in the face.
Batman grunted as he felt the first few blows before he angled his face to one side, dodging the next fist that slammed into the metal floor. Joker grunted from the pain of his fist hitting the metal and through the distraction Batman slipped his arms free, grabbing Joker's arms and then head butting him in the face to knock him off. Once he was back on his feet, Batman leapt and kneed Joker in the stomach before following up with a spinning kick to the face. He then stepped back a few to gain some room as Joker spun around to hit him.
Batman ducked and elbowed Joker in the stomach region again, grabbing his arm and spun around as he flung the Clown Prince of Crime down onto the ground. As soon as he hit the ground, Joker was left seeing stars and a key fell out of his jacket. It was likely the key to the cockpit. Batman took the Blimp Cockpit Key, jumped on the platform near the entrance of the pilot room and went inside. Inside the cockpit, Batman proceeded to the pilot station and saw the auto-pilot was activated with a course already programmed into it.
Batman took out his communicator. "Batgirl, the blimp's auto-pilot has been set for City Hall. Can you override it?"
"Not from here. You'll have to get in and manually shut down the controls." Batgirl answered.
He thought as much but it was still worth a try. Batman proceeded to the control area, seeing a lever in front of the auto-pilot console and pulled. A compartment opened up, revealing what was likely the Joker's bomb, carrying a mix of Joker Toxin and Prometheum. It appeared to be connected to the auto-pilot which means if Batman shut off the controls it would go off.
And there was a note on it.
'Mix and match the chemical die. A chemistry lesson. A role of the dice. My two favorite colors are worth a try but too much mixing and everyone dies.'
Figures.
So, the best way to diffuse the bomb was by mixing the gases colored red, blue and yellow but if he mixed the wrong color then the bomb would go off.
But Batman was not worried.
He didn't have time to worry so he focused on what he had to.
The Joker's favorite colors.
It wasn't hard to guess since he literally wore them all the time.
A purple suit with a bow tie and a green dress shirt and yellow flower.
Batman worked to defuse the bomb by mixing the gases to produce Purple (Blue and Red) and Green (Blue and Yellow), the Joker's color motif. First he selected then, injected the right colors. After combining the first two colors, he then mixed tube to begin with the next phase. Again, select and injecting and everything fell into place.
The bomb was deactivated and when Batman pulled the lever the auto-pilot was shut off next. He'd still have to destroy the blimp with the Batplane when it arrived. Batman exited the cockpit just as the Joker regained consciousness, stood up and looked at him with a defeated expression.
"You're going to Arkham." Batman said with finality in his voice.
"In a coffin or not at all." The Joker chuckled. "Oh well, kill and the world dies with you. Dieā¦and you laugh alone."
With a determined and yet demented grin, Joker leapt and rolled, grabbing his tommy gun. He pressed a switch that caused the bay door to open. Batman grabbed the side of the door, managing to remain standing as a blast of air flooded the cargo deck of the blimp.
Joker turned and flashed one more grin at Batman, before he leapt out of the blimp with a laugh. "HAHAHAHAHAH!"
The Joker wanted to have the last laugh so he chose to commit suicide (again) by jumping off the blimp. But, not without bringing his machine gun along (as an insurance). As expected, Batman wanted him in Arkham Asylum, instead of being six feet under the ground.
So Batman jumped and leapt out of the blimp, falling after the Joker.
Death was not Justice.
Even for the Joker.
