Chapter 4: Positive

Three weeks later.

One week after the events at the Asylum.

Derrick had counted himself lucky that he had gotten sick and stayed home when it happened.

Batman had brought the Joker in.

But the clown had managed to escape his captors and performed a massive prison break, where he and every inmate had taken over the island, slaughtering a large number of staff members.

Doctors, guards, nurses, etc.

The Joker had been planning it for a long time, trying to create a formula that would make an army of Banes.

Many other inmates had helped him, or caused trouble for Batman along the way, including Bane, Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, the Riddler, Victor Zsas, Scarecrow….

…. And Ivy.

After this, the Asylum had been shut down. Derrick was now working at Pauli's diner until he could get another job as a shrink.

Although Gordon had offered him a job at the GCPD. Namely to help review new officers for any mental conditions they may have.

Derrick was planning on eventually taking the job, maybe in a week or two.

Derrick was currently taking orders at the tables near the kitchen.

He was about to go on his lunch break in a minute.

Derrick approached the newest person at the tables. She was wearing a trench coat, big hat and sunglasses.

Derrick, "what can I get ya?"

And that's when he heard the voice.

"Chicken salad, hold the dressing."

Derrick found himself staring at Ivy, who had made her skin look normal so she wouldn't attract attention.

Derrick, "Pam?"

Ivy nodded, "can we talk?"

Derrick nodded as he took her order.

As he gave it to the chef, he said, "hey, Pauli, I'm gonna take my lunch break. Chicken strips with fries. Take it outta my pay."

"You got it!"

Derrick and Ivy went over to an empty booth in the back, where no-one would hear them.

As they waited for their lunch, Ivy said, "I've missed you."

Derrick, "same here. I haven't seen you since our last session, like a day or two before the Asylum was taken over."

Ivy, "I know. I'm glad you weren't there. They might've killed you"

Derrick, "yeah. Where did you go after it was shut down?"

Ivy, "I escaped my prison transfer. Been laying low until I could see you again."

Derrick moved his hand over Ivy's.

Her hands were trembling.

Derrick, "are you alright? You're trembling?"

Ivy, "I, uh, got some news. I was afraid of telling you."

Derrick, "Pam, you can tell me anything."

Pam, Ivy, nicknames for the woman he loved.

Before they could say anything, their food arrived.

Ivy, "can we talk after lunch?"

Derrick, "sure. But, how about we talk at my place. If your news is so important, we're gonna wanna do it somewhere more private."

Ivy, "alright."

The two of them ate their meals in relative silence, saying a compliment every so often.

Stuff like, "you look good", "this is nice", etc.

Once their meal finished, Ivy gave Derrick a loving hug before leaving him to continue his job.

….

Derrick entered his apartment, and wasn't surprised to see Ivy sitting on the couch, now back in her normal form, although now she wore a red hoodie over a leafy bra that matches her panties.

Derrick sits right next to her.

Derrick, "now, what did you want to talk about earlier. You seemed frightened to say anything."

Ivy took a deep breath, "I'm late."

Derrick, "late for what?"

Ivy, "you know…."

Derrick, "... wait, you mean…?"

Ivy reaches into the pocket of the hoodie and pulls out a pregnancy test.

And it was positive!

Derrick grew wide eyes.

Derrick, "you mean…?"

Ivy nodded shakily, "our first night together hit the bullseye. I'm pregnant."

The two of them sat in silence for a few moments.

Ivy was surprised when Derrick pulled Ivy into his arms and buried his face into her shoulder.

Ivy, "D-Derrick?"

Derrick, "you should've come to me sooner. If I had known you were pregnant, I wouldn't have left your side at the Asylum."

Ivy hugged back and asked, "what're we gonna do?"

Derrick, "I don't know Ivy. But it doesn't matter. I'm gonna be here for you and the baby."

Ivy started crying tears of joy as Derrick rubbed her back.

Ivy, "I was afraid you wouldn't want to do anything with me."

Derrick, "I love you Ivy. I'll never leave you."

Ivy lifted her head and said, "I love you too", and she proceeded to capture Derrick's lips into a kiss.

After the kiss ended, the two of them decided to just sit there together for a little bit.

Ivy snuggled into Derrick's side as she said, "I didn't even know I could get pregnant."

Derrick, "really?"

Ivy, "after I was reborn as…. This, I was never sure if I still had the ability to procreate."

Derrick, "well, I'm glad you're able to."

Ivy, "I think you were right Derrick."

Derrick, "about what?"

Ivy, "I wanted a baby. And now I'm getting one."

Derrick chuckles as he holds Ivy.

Ivy, "what do you think it'll be? A boy, or a girl?"

Derrick, "as long as they're healthy, I'm okay with whatever gender they are."

Ivy, "hmm. I'm kind of hoping it's a girl."

Derrick, "I wouldn't mind having either."

Ivy held a genuine smile as she held Derrick.

And then they just sat there for a good ten minutes, simply enjoying one another's company.

Eventually, Ivy said, "Derrick?"

Derrick, "hmm?"

Ivy, "I'm horny."

Derrick chuckles as he picked Ivy up bridal-style and carried her over to the bedroom….

….

We see the aftermath of their lovemaking session, Ivy cuddling into Derricks side, the two of them naked with the covers over them.

Ivy, "God, this was more amazing than last time."

Derrick, "I couldn't go back to normal women even if I wanted to. I swear, this pheromones make you feel like pure heaven."

Ivy, "I agree. The whole thing felt like the purest form of pleasure."

Derrick and Ivy chuckled as he rubbed her shoulders.

Derrick, "the boobs are just icing on the cake."

Ivy laughed at what Derrick said, "I think the same thing does for those muscles of yours."

Derrick chuckled at Ivy's hoke.

Derrick, "I have a day off tomorrow. What do you wanna do tomorrow?"

Ivy, "maybe we could go on a walk? Through the park?"

Derrick, "that sounds great."

Ivy, "I just hope no-one finds out about us."

Derrick, "you and me both."

And so, the two of them were content to lay in one another's arms for most of the day, only getting up for food, water, and the bathroom.

….

The next day, we see Ivy and Derrick walking through the park.

Derrick is in a blue hoodie and jeans, with a grey baseball cap.

Ivy was wearing a dark green leather jacket, sunglasses, and made her skin look normal, so no-one would know it's her.

As they walked past a pond, Derrick asked, "do you have any ideas for names?"

Ivy, "well, if it's a girl, Rose. Definitely Rose."

Derrick, "beautiful. And if it's a boy?"

Ivy, "hmm, maybe Jack?"

Derrick, "great names. You've got a talent for that."

Ivy, "hmm."

Derrick, "you know, Gordon offered me a job at the GCPD."

Ivy, "really?"

Derrick, "yeah. In order to review each new officer's profile, so I can make sure they're fit for the job."

Ivy, "that sounds like a good idea. Less corrupt cops and such?"

Derrick, "exactly. Although, it's gonna be tricky to keep us a secret."

Ivy, "I'm sure we'll be able to handle it."

Derrick, "heh, if only I had your optimism."

Ivy and Derrick both chuckled as they continued their walk.

But, that's when they heard a strange sound in the air.

Like something was…. Gliding?

Ivy grew wide eyes as she pushed herself and Derrick to the ground.

Speeding past them, landing on the ground….

…. Was Batman!

Derrick, "oh God no."

Batman, "Ivy, you're coming with me."

Ivy, "no, you're not taking me!"

Ivy was about to prepare some vines to attack the Dark Knight, who had three batarangs ready to throw.

But they both stopped when Derrick jumped in-between them!

Derrick, "please, don't!"

Batman, "Doctor Shane? What are you doing here? Are you under her control?"

Derrick, "no! She came to me yesterday. She's never used her pheromones to control me!"

Batman, "how do I know you're telling the truth?"

Derrick, "people under her control had glowing green eyes, and can't form full sentences."

Batman saw his point.

Batman, "still, she needs to be put into custody. And I'm prepared to arrest you for harboring a fugitive."

Derrick was nearly panicking.

He couldn't let Ivy get caught.

Not in her condition.

And that's when Derrick had an idea.

Derrick, "she's pregnant!"

Batman paused, "what?"

Derrick, "Ivy, do you still have the test?"

Ivy nodded as she quickly fished it out of her pocket and handed it to Derrick.

He showed the rest to Batman.

Derrick, "see? She's having a baby in a few months."

Batman took the test, looking it over to make sure it's not a fake.

Derrick, "Batman, please. I can help her. Ever since she became my patient, she's been getting better. She hasn't attacked anyone except for you, and that was because she had Titan in her system. I love her, but I'm still her doctor. Gordon offered me a spot at the GCPD. Please, if you can find in your heart to help us, keep him from taking her in. I need to be there for her and the baby."

Batman took a long moment to think on everything he heard.

He rarely believed his enemies could change.

But Ivy was pregnant, hasn't caused much trouble, (outside of the events at the Asylum), and was in love with a normal man.

Batman took a long sigh before he handed the test back to Derrick and said, "alright. Buy if she causes any trouble, she'll be put away, and the baby would be put in your care."

Derrick gave a grateful nod.

And before Batman grappled away, he said, "don't make me regret this."

And with that, the Dark Knight dashed away through the air, leaving the couple to sigh in relief.

Derrick turned to Ivy, "are you alright?"

Ivy nodded as she hugged Derrick.

Ivy, "I was afraid he was going to-"

Derrick, "no-one is gonna take you and the baby from me Ivy. Not if I can help it."

Ivy gave Derrick a passionate kiss, with tears of joy srrwming down their faces.

Batman had given them a chance.

A chance to start their family without any worries.

And over the next coming months, things were going to get much better for the couple….

Ivy is pregnant!

And before anyone asks, the baby is gonna be a girl.

And Batman is letting her off the hook, due to her condition.

The next chapter will take place during Arkham City, where Derrick finds himself sneaking into the City to find Ivy, who is ready to have the baby any day now.

I'm gonna change the timeline slightly, making Arkham City take place nearly nine or ten months after Asylum, where Ivy's physiology slows down her development slightly.
