Chapter 5: Rose

Around nine months had passed since the events at the Asylum, and Derrick and Ivy had started their life together.

Derrick had begun working at the GCPD, reviewing any new officers on any psychological issues they may have.

This allowed him to be put in charge of watching Ivy, so she wouldn't be arrested, especially given her pregnancy.

Speaking of which, Ivy was supposed to be due any day now.

And that was one of many things running through Derrick's mind right now.

While he had been at work, talking with Gordon and Bullock, he had received shocking news from, well, the news.

The report had shown that Doctor Hugo Strange had sent his forces to kidnap Ivy.

Over the last few months, the former doctor of the Asylum had created Arkham City, a huge super prison that took the more ghetto area of Gotham, and let the inmates run wild.

And now they had Ivy!

Only a few knew of Ivy and Derrick being together, and that they were expecting a baby.

Namely, Gordon, Batman, Aaron Cash, Bullock and Montoya.

Now, we see Derrick currently making his way through the sewers.

As soon as he heard about Ivy being taken into Arkham City, he had clocked out early.

He had made his way back home to grab supplies, namely some baby items, a gun, a crowbar, a flashlight and a sandwich.

Using some schematics he had borrowed from Barabara, Gordon's daughter, and was using them to find a route that leads into Arkham City that wasn't known by any of the Tiger Guards, Strange, or a single one of the inmates.

As Derrick made his way through the dark, dank and smelly tunnels, all he could think was, 'I hope Ivy and the baby are alright.'

….

Ivy was currently in a local hotel, with various plants surrounding her, hiding her from anyone who dared to enter.

She was cradling her large stomach, rubbing it as she tried to stay calm.

She was worried about a lot of things.

She was taken from her and Derricks home, and was all but thrown into Arkham City, even when she was due any day now.

But if she gets too stressed, she may accidentally put herself into labour.

And so she occupied herself with rubbing her stomach.

She muttered, "it's okay honey. Everything's gonna be okay. We'll see daddy again soon."

But that's when she heard a door open.

"Hello? Ivy? You here?"

Ivy recognized that voice.

Catwoman.

Selina Kyle.

Ivy, "you shouldn't be here Selina."

Ivy revealed herself to Selina.

Selina was taken back a bit when seeing Ivy's pregnant belly.

Selina, "oh come, you're not seriously going to hold that against me forever, are you?"

Ivy, "you killed them all! If I weren't like this, I'd attack you!"

Selina, "they were just flowers Ivy. I'll buy you some new ones. I know this one place-"

Ivy, "Derrick has already let me start a garden, albeit a small one."

Selina, "oh yeah, I forgot you had yourself a man. How did you snag that one?"

Ivy, "at first I wanted to try and seduce him without my pheromones. But, as time went on, it became serious."

Selina, "well I'll be. I never would've figured you to fall for one man, and get pregnant at that."

Ivy, "is there something you want?"

Selina, "I just need your help."

Ivy, "you've got some nerve Selina."

Selina, "I told you that thing with the flowers wasn't my fault. You know it, I know it."

Ivy walked over to Selina, her arms crossed.

Ivy, "you should've watered them. You said you would water them. And the only one left was locked up by Strange in his vault, and I can't go get it in my current condition."

Selina, "well in that case, I think we can strike a deal. I need a way into his vault, and I think you're just the girl to do it. If you send your plants to get me in there, I'll get you your plant."

Ivy, "... I should kill you…. Fine."

Ivy turned away from Selina as she said, "no kiss? I'm kind of disappointed."

Ivy, "my lips are only for Derrick now. Now, get out. Now!"

Catwomab turned to leave, allowing Ivy to go back to occupying herself with thoughts of her beloved Derrick….

Derrick finally found himself in Arkham City hours after Ivy had been captured, climbing out of a manhole in an alley.

He looked around him before walking forward, taking note of his surroundings, trying to find any clues as to where Ivy was.

Snow was starting to fall, since it was the beginning of December.

So she would be inside somewhere.

And that's when Derrick spotted an old hotel with numerous plants growing out of them.

He could even see Selina swinging away from the place as rumbling was heard.

Derrick, "something tells me Ivy is helping her with something. But that's good news for me!"

Derrick looked around, to make sure the coast was clear, and quickly made his way towards the place.

He had to carefully climb his way up to the door, nearly freezing his fingers on the ladders.

But soon, Derrick was at the hotel, and slowly opened the door.

As he looked at all of the plants everywhere, he called, "Pam? Are you in here?"

As soon as those words left his mouth, two large plants were brushed aside, revealing Ivy with wide eyes.

Ivy, "Derrick?!'

Derrick ran to Ivy and pulled her into a hug.

Ivy started to sob as she held Derrick.

Ivy, "h-how are you here?"

Derrick, "I used the sewer system to get here. I couldn't leave you and the baby alone in this place."

Ivy smiled as she captured Derrick's lips in a kiss.

But at that very moment, she felt a strong pang of pain wrack her body.

She doubled over as Derrick tried to keep her on her feet.

Derrick, "Ivy? Ivy! Pamela! What's wrong?!"

Ivy, "I don't know!"

But as she said that, she felt something trickle down her leg.

Both of them grew wide eyes as they looked down.

Water was running down her legs to the ground.

Derrick stated matter of factly, "... your water broke."

Ivy, "yes it did."

Derrick, "your water broke!"

Ivy, "yes it did!"

Derrick quickly brought Ivy over to where she had been sitting earlier and got her in a position to deliver the baby.

Derrick, "alright, just breath honey. Grab onto some of those roots."

Ivy gritted her teeth as the pain kept hitting her while she gripped the roots tightly."

Derrick, "alright, you're almost fully dilated. I guess your body is working on overtime. Just a few more moments and you'll be ready to deliver."

Ivy could only give a grunt of acknowledgement as the contractions hit her.

A few minutes later, Derrick said, "alright, you're fully dilated. Now, when I tell you to, push as hard as you can!"

Ivy, "a-alright!"

A few moments Derrick said, "push now!"

Ivy screamed as she pushed with all of her might. She took a breath as she finished and Derrick said, "alright, get ready to push again."

Ivy, "you did this to me Derrick! You made me a pregnant whale!"

Derrick, "love you too. Alright, push!"

Ivy screamed again as she pushed as hard as she could again.

Derrick, "alright, I can see the head! Get ready to push one last time!"

Ivy, "ngh, I can't!"

Derrick, "yes you can! You're Poison Freaking Ivy! You can do anything! And you can deliver a damned baby! Now give me one last big push!"

Ivy gave an intense scream as she gave one last big push, pushing out the baby and the placenta.

As Ivy caught her breath, she began to hear crying.

Her eyes opened as she got herself in a sitting position.

And what she found brought tears of joy to her eyes.

She saw Derrick holding a little baby in his arms, using his hoodie to wrap them up in something warm, and wiping them of various fluids.

Both of them had tears of joy in their eyes as Derrick sat next to Ivy, so both parents could gaze upon their child.

It was a girl!

A baby girl with a white skin that had a slightly green tone to it. She had red hair like her mother, and blue eyes like her father.

She was looking up at her parents as Derrick called her down.

Ivy, "oh God. Derrick, she's beautiful!"

Derrick, "she is. She has your hair."

Ivy, "well she has your eyes."

Derrick and Ivy had joyful smiles as they gazed upon their child.

Derrick, "you remember the name you chose?"

Ivy, "Rose. Our little Rose."

Derrick, "she's perfect. Just like her mother."

Ivy began speaking to their daughter, "hi there sweetie. It's me. Your mom. You caught me on a bad day."

Derrick wiggled his finger at her, and the baby grabbed the finger, giggling the sweetest thing you could ever hear.

Derrick, "oof, you're gonna give Batman a run for his money!"

Ivy giggled before Derrick asked, "so, do we have a Godmother for our little Rose?"

Ivy, "I know you may not like it, but I was thinking Harley."

Derrick, "really?"

Ivy, "she's pretty much my only friend. And I'm not making Selina the Godmother. I'm still pissed about her forgetting to water my plants."

Derrick, "alright then. As for a Godfather, I was thinking of Aaron."

Ivy, "that man from the asylum? With the hook hand?"

Derrick, "yeah. We've become friends over the years. He's a good man. One that I'd trust with my life."

Ivy gave a nod, "fair enough."

That's when they heard a tiny little yawn.

They looked down to see Rose rub her eyes until she snuggled into her mother's arms, drifting to sleep.

Ivy, "God, she is too precious."

Derrick, "I know, right? I can't believe we made her."

Ivy, "I'm never going to let her get hurt."

Derrick, "that makes both of us."

An uncertain amount of time passed as Derrick and Ivy kept trading their daughter with one another, occssiaonlly feeding her.

Ivy's breasts has grown larger to help feed Rose.

But that's when they felt something.

They felt loud explosions rock Arkham City!

Ivy, "what's going on?!"

Derrick, "I don't know, nut I think we need to get somewhere safe!"

Derrick helped Ivy up as he used his jacket to strap Rose to his chest.

Derrick, "I'll get us to the tunnel I used to get here. C'mon!"

Derrick grabbed Ivy's hand as they made their way out of the building, seeing various helicopters raining fire upon Arkham City!

Ivy used her plants to get the three of them down to the ground, allowing Derrick to lead them to where the tunnel was.

As they ran through the chaos, they managed to run into Selina!

And she was actually carrying the plant.

Ivy, "Selina!"

Selina, "this is the last time I do this shit for you Ivy!"

Selina quickly handed the plant to Ivy.

And she noticed Derrick holding Rose, and Ivy's smaller stomach.

Selina, "well, congratulations. I hope you can get that child out of here!"

Ivy, "thank you. Good luck Selina!"

The two shook hands as they ran in opposite paths.

Eventually, Derrick, Ivy and Rose got to the sewer tunnel, and made their way down; quickly running through until the sounds of the explosions died down.

When the got our of the tunnel, they found two police officers pointing their guns at them!

Officer 1, "freeze!"

Derrick, "wait a minute! It's me! Doctor Shane of the GCPD!"

The officers lowered their weapons.

Officer 2, "how did you get here?"

Derrick, "when Pamela here was taken, despite being under my protection, I used this old tunnel to sneak into Arkham City. Now if you dont mind, I have her and a newborn to get to safety."

The officers gave each-other a look as they let the three of them past, where they quickly made their way towards Gordon.

After explain everything, Gordon had Bullock and Montoya escort the new parents home.

...

We later see them inside of Derricks home, Ivy cuddling Rose as Derrick put the news on.

They saw the reports on what happened.

Strange had activated, "Protocol Ten", where the whole city would be demolished.

Batman had managed to stop him, the doctor having been reported to die in an explosion, and later, the Joker had died.

May thought Batman had killed him, but reports said he had died from a toxin in his blood.

Ivy planned to find Harley in order to comfort her. Ivy had hated the Joker, but wanted to be there for Harley.

But that would have to wait.

For now, Ivy tool comfort as Derrick held her, the two of them looking at Rose, excited for what the future held...

And thus, Rose has been born!

Again, I changed part of the story so City takes place nine months after Asylum, Ivy was captured only a few hours before Batman ended up there, and during the part where Catwoman finds Ivy, and the family escapes the city during the explosions, running into Selina, who actually for the plant back to Ivy.
