Chapter 7: Halloween

Many months later, our story continues.

ScareCrow had made his move, making a threat that caused Gotham to be evacuated.

And it allowed almost every villain to raise Hell.

Derrick, Rose and Ivy were still in Gotham.

….

Ivy was packing a bag.

Rose was in a car seat nearby. They were ready to drive over to the GCPD, where Derrick was.

But before they could do anything, a small canister smashed through the window!

Gas began filling up the place.

But it wasn't fear gas.

It was sleeping gas!

Ivy found herself collapsing to the ground.

She saw several men enter.

One of them had armor with a red bat on it. He had a trench coat as well, and a red helmet that looked bat-like in design.

The Arkham Knight.

Ivy could hear him speak in a robotic voice, distorted.

He was speaking into a comm of some sort.

"You told me to get Isley. You didn't say anything about a baby!"

Ivy could hear Crane's voice on the other end.

Crane, "it matters not. The baby will be our leverage, so Isley will not attack us. You will be in charge of holding them."

The Knight, "I am not a damned babysitter."

Crane, "if you want to destroy the Batman, you will do as I say."

The Knight grunted, "ngh, fine. But you better make good on our deal Crane."

The Knight turned to his men and said, "get Isley in one car and take her to the safe house in China-Town. I'll be taking the baby with me."

Ivy couldn't even protest as she was dragged off, and succumbed to the sleeping gas….

….

Derrick was in the GCPD, and was currently waiting for any word on Ivy and Rose getting there.

He was pacing near where Cash was sitting.

Harley was there as well! She had made great progress over the months, talking to Derrick.

She had even met someone, and was going out with them.

A man named Mark. He had a great sense of humor, had the same interests as Harley, and was a much better person than the Joker.

Mark was currently napping on a couch nearby. Harley was too afraid of Mark getting hurt, so she had managed to convince Gordon and Derrick to let him stay at the GCPD.

Bullock and Montoya were guarding the cells.

Also nearby was a strange sight.

A green dog.

Yes, a green dog.

It had what looked like a twig for a tail, bark for claws, and the fur was grass that actually felt like fur.

Ivy had actually managed to create that plant dog for Rose.

They named him Clover.

Clover had been taken to the GCPD, for his safety, and to help protect the place.

Cash, "you gotta calm down Derrick."

Derrick, "I can't Aaron. Ivy and Rose are out there in that Hellscape, and I'm stuck here!"

Harley, "worrying about Red and Rose isn't gonna do us any good."

"She's right."

They all looked to see Gordon approach them.

Gordon, "I just talked to Batman. He's currently trying to save some officers out there. He's planning on getting Ivy and Rose here as soon as he can."

Derrick, "thank God."

Harley, "I'm sure they'll be fine Derrick. No-one would dare to hurt Red or your kid."

Cash, "if they did, they would get my hook up their ass!"

Derrick couldn't help but chuckle at what Cash said.

….

We see Batman standing before Ivy, who had one of Crane's men raised up in the air by several vines.

He had found where they were keeping her, and freed her.

Ivy, "where is my daughter? Where is she!?"

The man, "C-Crane has her! He's got her somewhere safe. Said if you go after her, he'll do something drastic."

Ivy yelled as she smashed the man to the ground.

Ivy turned to Batman and said, "we need to find Derrick."

….

A little while later, they saw two people walk in.

Batman and Ivy!

Derrick, "Ivy!"

Ivy ran forward and embraced Derrick. A few moments passed as Batman talked to Gordon and Cash about what was going on, and the cases they were trying to solve.

As Derrick and Ivy separated, she had a somber look on her face.

Derrick, "honey? What's wrong? Wait…. Where's Rose?"

Harley, "they…. They took her."

Derrick, "w-what?"

Batman turned to the parents.

Batman, "ScareCrow had Ivy captured l. He wanted her help to take over Gotham, but she refused. Now they have Rose captured."

Derrick, "no…. No!"

Batman, "stay calm. I'm going to find her."

As Batman was about to leave, they heard Derrick say, "not without me you're not."

Batman, "you need to stay here Shane."

Derrick, "this is my damned daughter Batman. I'm not gonna sit by while my baby girl is in the hands of Crane or any one of his men!"

Silence reigned for a moment.

Until Batman handed Derrick a small device.

Batman, "meet me at the coordinates on this thing. If you're going to be helping me, you'll need gear to match."

Everyone was stunned for a moment.

Batman was letting him tag along!?

Batman took a few steps towards the door.

Derrick, "why are you letting me go with you?"

Batman stopped.

He turned his head and said, "I know what it's like to lose your family. If I can help prevent you from losing yours, I'll let you go with me."

Derrick nodded as Batman left.

Derrick turned to Gordon and said, "I'm heading out Jim."

Gordon nodded and said, "I'd do the same for my daughter. Be safe out there."

Derrick, "you got it."

Derrick looked at Cash, who said, "give that cornfield reject a beating for me."

Derrick, "without a doubt."

Derrick walked over to Ivy.

Derrick, "Pam-"

Ivy kissed Derrick passionately.

When it ended, she said, "Harley and I will help protect this place. Find our daughter. And show ScareCrow why you don't f $k with our family."

Derrick nodded his head, gave Harley a quick hug and turned to Clover.

Derrick, "c'mon Clover. We've got a baby to save."

Clover barked and ran after Derrick, who grabbed a gun from the desk.

They ran out of the GCPD, staying in the shadows as they used the device Batman gave them to get to the building he was supposed to meet him at.

Soon, they reached their destination, and found Batman standing there with a new suit, an officer nearby.

He must've beat up whoever had them captive.

Near Batman was a large pod with a belt of gadgets sitting in it.

As Derrick approached, Batman said, "take the belt."

Derrick nodded and got the belt on, looking over the gadgets he now had.

Batman, "the grappling hook I gave you will be strong enough to pull you up a building, but it won't break your arms."

Derrick, "good to know."

Batman, "I'm going to track where ScareCrow is manufacturing his fear toxin. I've already aligned the antennas I need. If we find him, we will find your daughter."

Derrick, "good plan."

Before Barman could throw a batarang, they heard, "hey!"

They turned to see a thug pointing a gun at them.

The thug, "stay where you are, or-"

Derrick quickly fired his gun, shooting the thug in the knee and sending them to the ground.

Batman growled at Derrick, "what are you doing?!"

Derrick, "I didn't kill him. A shot to the leg will hurt like Hell, but they'll live."

Batman narrowed his eyes, but remained silent.

Batman, "let's get back to our mission."

Batman threw a remote batarangs far away, and began using the computer on his wrist to pinpoint ScareCrow's location.

Derrick, "where do you think he is?"

Batman, "the strongest chemical signature of his toxin will be where he is."

Derrick, "the most likely place to go would be-"

Batman, "Ace Chemicals! I've got the location!"

Derrick, "we gotta get there as fast as we can."

Batman, "I'm going to contact Gordon. Meet me at the bottom of the building."

Derrick gave a nod as he and Clover ran to the edge of the building. Derrick used his grappling hook to slowly take him and Clover to the ground.

When they landed, they saw the Batmobile right next to them.

Derrick, "heh, makes my car look like a wreck."

Batman landed right next to him a few moments later.

Batman pressed a few buttons, opening up the back door.

Batman, "make sure your dog doesn't pee on the seat."

Derrick, "don't worry. Clover can't use the bathroom."

As Batman got in the front, Derrick was seated in the back with Clover right beside them.

He felt the car speeding up and driving towards its destination.

Soon the car came to a stop.

Batman, Derrick and Clover all got out and approached Gordon and his men.

Batman, "have you been able to contact anyone in there?"

Gordon, "no. Someone must be blocking their communications."

Derrick, "or worse."

That's when they all heard a frightening sound.

They all looked to see a helicopter raise into the air; shining a spotlight down on the others.

It suddenly shot a big chunk of the bridge into pieces that fell into the water down below.

Derrick and the other officers ran towards the cars for safety.

Batman was the only one who didn't move back.

Gordon, "come on! Let's go! Move! Move! Take cover!"

Batman walked into the path of the light.

Derrick and the others all stared wide eyed as for a few silent moments, the helicopter and Batman stood almost motionless.

But in a matter of moments, it ended. The helicopter flew away, and the large doors of Ace Chemicals opened, revealing several tanks trying to shoot at Batman, who ran to the others!

As soon as Batman was behind a car, the doors shut again.

Gordon asked, "friend of yours?"

Batman, "stay here, and I'll go find out."

Derrick and Batman gave each other a knowing look, and used their grappling hooks to get to the top of the building!

They saw countless soldiers, tanks and helicopters preparing to attack!

Batman spoke into his ear piece, "Oracle, whoever this guy is, he's assembled an army. I need a name."

Derrick and Batman listened to Oracle say, "alright, we've got something here from a black ops team operating in Venezuela. They discovered a hidden training facility housing soldiers bearing the same insignia. There's nothing but speculation on their commander though. The only thing sources agree on his name. Or rather, names. They go by two. The Arkham Knight. And the Red Hood."

Batman, "the Arkham Knight?"

Derrick, "and the Red Hood?"

Batman, "hack into their comms. I need to know what they're planning."

Oracle, "anything else?"

Batman, "there's a crew if Ace Chemical workers left on sight. They'll be able to help us track down ScareCrow and his bomb. As well as Shane and Isley's daughter, Rose."

Oracle, "they took their daughter?"

Batman, "yes. We need to find them."

Oracle, "each worker will be carrying a unique I.D chip."

Batman, "if I can access their personal records, I'll be able to find them."

Oracle, "there's a security terminal in a booth near your location. Try there."

As the talk ended, Batman turned to Derrick.

Batman, "you and I need to find the workers."

Derrick, "alright then. Let's get to work!"

Nathanael Card: That's the plan. I'm trying to figure out how to change the story so it's someone else who helps Henry. And I gave Harley a boyfriend named Mark, (named after Mark Hamill, the Joker voice actor, get it?)

And thus, as Ivy and Harley help protect the GCPD, Derrick and Batman are trying to find Rose, and then Barbara.

If anyone can think of who should help Henry and the Joker gang take over the movie studios, let me know. Since Harley is helping the GCPD, we need someone else to take her role in that part of the story.

Also, some of the dialogue will be changed, due to Derrick being in the story alongside Batman.
