Chapter 9: The Search

As the search for Rose and Barbara went on, Batman and Derrick had gotten sidetracked.

He had captured Selina, and while Batman went off to rescue her, Derrick stayed at the Clock Tower, waiting for Batman to find any lead on CobblePot. As he did this, he monitored everything going on, sort of working as Oracle for a while.

Derrick called and said, "how's it going with Selina?"

Batman, "don't ask me how I managed to get the Batmobile to some of the places where Nigma put his riddles, but I managed to get her out. I'll have to try and apprehend Nigma later; when I've found all of his riddles. I also met some strange figure who is issuing challenges named Azrael."

Derrick, "well, we'll have to resolve that later."

Batman, "I also had a run in with FireFly. I'll deal with him when I can tonight. Before all of this, I found a scrambler Oracle left me. I'm going to use this to track the Knight. Once I have him, we'll find CobblePot and your daughter."

Derrick, "got it. let me know when you get to the Clock Tower."

….

Hours later, Batman made it to the Clock Tower.

Derrick asked, "where's the Knight?"

Batman, "he got away. I had him, but he got the drol on me. At one point I was racing after him, but I was chasing the wrong man. But they've pointed me in the right direction. For both of our goals. We're meeting up with NightWing so we can locate CobblePot."

Derrick nodded as he, Clover and Batman left the ClockTower, and drove the Batmobile to where they would meet up with NightWing.

Once they got there, the younger man jumped up to meet them.

NightWing, "still lurking around on rooftops?"

Batman, "you shouldn't have come here. Not tonight."

NightWing, "are you kidding me? When I heard about Barb-"

Derrick, "can we please not bicker? Time is of the essence."

NightWing, "right. Sorry. About that, and your daughter being taken."

Derrick nodded as Batman spoke, "North Refrigeration. Tell me what you know."

NightWing, "Penguin's using freezer trucks to smuggle weapons out of Blūdavven. I think he's stockpiling arms here in Gotham. The question is where?"

Batman, "Cobblepot's the best lead on Barbara."

Derrick, "and on where he has Rose. I'm not resting until I find her."

Batman, "we need to find that weapons cache. If we can intercept one of his trucks, it'll lead us right to them."

NightWing, "huh. If only you knew someone who's been tracking their movements?"

All three of them looked down to see the truck that was there.

NightWing, "what? You didn't really think I'd come here without a plan, did ya?"

Derrick, "am I ever thankful that you did NightWing."

Batman, "we'll handle this. You're needed back in Blūdhaven."

NightWing, "c'mon, let me help. You can't handle all of this on your own. Even with Derrick as your backup."

Derrick, "you know my name?"

NightWing, "me and the others keep track of members of the GCPD."

Batman, "it's too dangerous. I won't risk losing anyone else. Blūdhaven needs you."

NightWing, "alright. I can take a hint. But if you wanna keep tabs on that truck, you're gonna need this."

NightWing handed some form of disruptor weapon to Batman.

NightWing, "it's a prototype straight out of R&D. The old Fox has really outdone himself this time."

Derrick wasn't sure who, 'The Fox', was, but he did not concern himself with it.

NightWing jumped off to wherever, as Batman used the disruptor to target the truck.

Batman turned to Derrick and said, "once I track the truck to where CobblePot is, meet me there."

Derrick nodded as Batman jumped down and began his pursuit of the truck. Minutes later, he sent his location to Derrick, who quickly used his tools to get to the place via the rooftops, with Clover doing the same with their vines.

When they got to the place, the three of them quickly made their way inside via various air vents and openings, until they found themselves right under the Penguin and his men.

They listened to him prattle on for a few moments before jumping out and shoving the rotund villain to the ground!

Batman, "the Arkham Knight, Barbara Gordon, Rose Shane, tell me where they are?!"

Derrick quickly jumped up beside Batman, pointing their gun at the others.

Derrick, "you better tell us Oswald!"

Penguin, "so that's who he had? The Commissioner's little girl?"

Derrick, "where's my daughter asshole?!"

A thug tried attacking, but Batman was able to smack them away.

Batman, "I'll break every bone in your body, CobblePot!"

Penguin, "ngh, as for the girl and the Red Hood fella, they were going to see some geezer called Simon Stagg. I think he runs a pharmaceutical company or something. The baby is at my safe house in ChinaTown."

Penguin fished a slip of paper from his pocket and tossed it to Derrick. He grabbed it, and saw the address for the place.

Derrick, "that was easy to get outta you."

Penguin, "I don't want no trouble with you and Ivy! I already got enough trouble with the Bat here!"

Batman threw another thug away when they ran at him and held Penguin in the air.

Batman, "do not lie to me."

Penguin, "I'm not! I swear! They said he's about to leave Gotham! Those airships above the West River belong to 'im."

Two thugs pointed their weapons at Bagman, so he threw CobblePot at them before two things tackled him to his knees.

Derrick backed up towards a wall as some thugs tried to surround him. They wouldn't get to close though, given the gun he had trained on them.

Penguin ran off, arrogantly speaking about how ScareCrow was going to destroy them.

One of the thugs approached with a baseball hat, ready to hit Batman, but was met with a hit to the noggin from NightWing, who began aiding Batman, Derrick and Clover as they fought off the thugs.

NightWing, "this us you handling it, right? No, don't worry, you can thank me later."

Clover attacked with bites, slashing with their vines, and headbutting a few.

Batman and NightWing worked together like a well-oiled machine, taking down the things while Derrick shot the thugs in their legs in order to keep them from attacking.

Soon, all of the thugs were taken down.

Derrick said, "I'm going to that warehouse. With any luck, I'll find Rose there."

NightWing, "good luck man."

Batman, "keep away from any militia or criminals you see."

Derrick, "right. And thanks. I hope you guys find Barbara."

Batman and NightWing both gave a nod as they got ready to destroy the weapons.

Derrick left the place the way he and Batman came in, with Clover following close behind. They used their tools to get up high, and began making their way to the warehouse.

It took a few minutes for them to get to their destination.

They landed outside of the place, carefully listening for anyone inside.

He heard two guards speaking.

Guard 1, "why does CobblePot want us to guard this little brat?"

Guard 2, "dunno. I think that Red Knight guy gave them to him, so he wants it guarded."

Guard 1, "I think it's the Arkham Hod. And besides, does the kid even have parents?"

Guard 2, "I think I heard it's parents are Poison Ivy and some member of the GCPD."

Guard 1, "seriously? Someone managed to screw Ivy? And had a kid with them?"

Guard 2, "apparently. I don't know how that guy managed it, but he's gotta write his skills in a book."

Guard 1, "if that's the case, I guess this is payback for her not joining ScareCrow?"

Guard 2, "probably."

Derrick quietly made his way to a nearby window that was open.

He whispered to Clover, "distract them. Go through the front."

The dog nodded as they ran to the front. Derrick quickly made his way into the warehouse, sneaking behind the guards.

Clover ran through the door to the place, alarming both guards, making them run at the dog before Derrick shot them both in the legs, knocking them to the ground, where Derrick knocked them both out with a nearby wooden bat.

Derrick saw another guard grab a small wooden crate, which he assumed held his daughter.

Derrick, "put the crate down!"

The guard, "not a chance pig!"

Before they could blink, Clover suddenly bit the guard in the leg, making them call over, as Clover made sure to get the crate back on the table it had been on.

As the guard fell, Derrick ran forward and kicked their face, knocking them out.

Derrick made his way over to what the guards had been, well, guarding. The small wooden crate, with blankets in it. Derrick took the lid off, and was staring at his daughter as she woke up.

Derrick, "Rose…."

The baby reached out for her father, who quickly took her into his arms.

Derrick felt tears in his eyes as he held Rose. He had finallt found his daughter.

Derrick quickly dialed Cash.

Cash answered, "Derrick? Man, you okay?"

Derrick, "I'm fine. I've got good news. I found Rose. I'm heading back to the GCPD."

Cash, "alright. I'll let Ivy know. You be careful out there."

Derrick, "will do. See ya man."

Clover used some vines to strap Rose securely to Derrick's chest. They then made their way out of the warehouse, and once again used the rooftops to get back to the GCPD. They got to the top of the building and used the entrance up there to enter the place.

As Derrick walked down the stairs, he saw Ivy, Harley and Mark waiting there.

As soon as they were off of the steps, Ivy ran to Derrick and Rose.

Ivy, "is she okay?"

Derrick got the vines off of Rose as he said, "she's alright. No bruises or anything. I think they realized that if she were hurt, we'd kill them all."

Ivy chuckled as tears sprung from her eyes. She pulled her husband and daughter into a warm embrace, with Harley and Mark watching in relief and joy.

Their family had been reunited.

Little did any of them know about what was going to happen later that night….

Amanny: eh, it's part of the story, so I put it in there.

Frostspiderman: in the Arkham games, Ivy's kiss doesn't poison people unless she wants it too. She can also choose to mind control people with it, as seen in Assault on Arkham. So that's why Ivy didn't poison or control Derrick when she kissed him.

Derrick was able to find Rose! Next chapter, we'll move onto the rest of the game.

Also, we all know Ivy dies in the game, so if anyone has a suggestion on how to bring her back, or keep her alive, leave it in your reviews.

One idea I had was that; when Derrick finds Rose, it's around the time Ivy is using the giant plants to protect Gotham from the feat gas. When this happens, Rose is somehow able to help her mother do this without dying. Let me know what you think!

Sorry it's been awhile since I last updated. I've been busy with a lot of stuff.

I plan for, a few years after Arkham Knight, Ivy and Derrick will have another kid. A boy with green hair, named Solomon and he has his father's regular skin and can turn into his mother's green skin.
