Ok so, I usually write on another platform so this is all new to me. This is the first story that I've actually planned out and I think it has a fighting chance. So, this story is about if I was in TVD so 'Ella Gilbert' is actually me. This is the life I plan on having when I successfully shift, (for those who don't know what shifting is just search it on TikTok) So this is kind of more motivation for me in a sense? lol. I hope you guys enjoy reading my story. - Ella
Ella Gilbert gripped her Toyota's steering wheel until her knuckles turned white. She firmly pressed her foot against the pedal until she was going as fast as possible. Ella hadn't felt such worry since the night of her parent's accident. Tears fell down her face as she thought of the possibilities of what could've happened to her best friend. Ella slowed down as she pulled into the parking lot of Mystic Falls hospital. She unbuckled her seat belt and disengaged her keys from the slot. She practically flew out of her vehicle, ran into the hospital, and instantly went to the lady at the front desk.
"Where is she?" Ella asked frantically. The lady at the desk was confused. "Who, Ma'am? I need to know who if I'm going to help you." The older woman tried her best to calm Ella down but it didn't do anything. "Caroline. Caroline Forbes. She was in an accident just a few hours ago." Ella rushed the woman as tears escaped her chocolate brown orbs. Ella hated the idea of something happening to Caroline and she didn't even get a chance to say goodbye.
"Room 2105, east wing." The lady said. Ella used her heightened speed to run, she didn't care if someone saw her, she needed to find Caroline. Ella started to run normally once she saw her double talking to someone at the end of the hallway.
"Elena!" Ella called. Her twin's head jerked in Ella's direction. A look of relief washed over Elena's face as she saw her twin coming in her direction. Ella stumbled on her feet once she reached Elena. "How is she?" Ella questioned. "They said she's stable, but she had internal bleeding this entire time and no one noticed," Elena said. Ella sighed with relief. The tension dropped from her face and she relaxed her shoulders.
Ella felt hands being placed on her shoulders, she instantly recognized them as Damon Salvatore's. "How is Caroline?" He asked, a surprising amount of worry in his voice. Elena looked from Ella's shoulders to Damon with a confused expression but quickly put herself together. "She's fine," Elena said.
"I wasn't expecting Caroline getting in a car crash being the reason I returned to Mystic Falls." Ella sighed. Damon's hands moved back and forth on Ella's shoulders, a way of him comforting her. "Listen, tell Caroline I stopped by. It's 3 am I just drove three hours from Whitmore to here and I'm exhausted." Ella said, rubbing her temples.
Elena nodded then placed a hand on Ella's arm, "It's good to see you, Ella."
Ella smiled softly and nodded. "It's good to be home."
Ella turned around and met Damon's icy-blue eyes. She gave him a knowing smile that said that they'd talk later.
The next morning Ella was awoken to the sound of a knock on her door. "Come in." She called out groggily, her eyes peeled open as she felt the bed sink in next to her. Elena sat next to her and began to stroke her twin's hair. "How's Caroline?" Ella asked. "She's fine, they said she had a miraculous recovery," Elena said. Elena knew the recovery wasn't miraculous, she knew the only reason Caroline was able to leave the hospital tomorrow was because she was fed Damon's blood.
"That's good. I'd hate myself if something happened to her and I wasn't here to do anything about it." Ella sighed. Elena held up a finger. "Uh-uh, enough worrying, you just got back." Elena persisted. Ella nodded in agreement. "You're right. This nervous wreck isn't me." Elena smiled, "That's the spirit." Ella looked at her and held in a laugh. "You're seriously channeling Caroline right now aren't you?" Elena nodded and let a laugh erupt from her throat. "Yup." The girls laughed until their sides were weak. Suddenly, Ella's door was opened by a raven-haired man wearing his trademark smirk. "What's going on in here? Slumber party?" He asked, picking up a pair of Ella's undergarments smugly.
Elena threw a pillow at him which he dodged. "Easy there Buffy, I come in peace, I just want to speak to your sister." Damon put his hands up in defeat. Elena gave Ella a look in which Ella nodded in response. Elena pulled the covers from over her and exited her twin's room.
Ella sat up. "Alright Damon, what can I do for you?" Damon walked around Ella's room, picking up things and placing them back down. "I haven't seen you since the summer of last year. Maybe I'm curious if you've lost your Gilbert Charm." Ella sat up and suddenly appeared in front of Damon in a blur. "Nope. Still got it." She smirked. "Mhm." Damon's eyes trailed Ella up and down. He walked over to the bookshelf behind her and began to study every book.
"So, I suspect you've wreaked havoc over Mystic Falls." Ella crossed her arms over her chest and turned to face him. "Nope. I'm trying to lay low, we've just got the Sheriff off the trail of vampires." He said leaning against her bookshelf. "The Sheriff? As in Caroline's mom?" Ella furrowed her brows. Damon nodded in response. "They've got a whole secret council. I've infiltrated it of course." Damon said that last part smugly.
Ella tilted her head at his words, "Of course you have." Ella turned towards her wardrobe and began to undress. "So, tell me about this council." She said, slipping on a lace-trim camisole.
"What do you wanna know?" Damon said. "Who's on it?" Ella asked. She layered a long sleeve- purple scoop neck over her camisole and paired it with some boot-cut jeans. "Mayor, Sheriff, her deputies, a few city officials, and me," Damon replied. "What, did you compel them to let you on?" She said jokingly, turning to face him as she slid on her converse.
"No. Believe it or not people can't help but fall for my charm," Damon smirked. "Couldn't be me." Ella pursed her lips. Damon rolled his eyes, "Oh, please. I've had you under my spell since day one." He walked closer to her. "You wish." She scoffed. "If I don't have you under my spell, why do you wear this?" He let his hand gently lift the necklace she was wearing.
It was a gold necklace with a pendant that said 'Damon'. Ella desperately tried to think of an answer but she was at a loss for words. Damon smiled smugly which made Ella scrunch her nose in anger. "That proves nothing." She slapped his hand. This only made Damon's smile grow wider. Ella took her brown bag off the hinge of her door and slung it over her shoulder.
Ella attempted to open the door but Damon sped in front of her and slammed it shut. "What are you doing?" Ella scoffed. "Telling you what I came here to tell you in the first place." Damon signaled to his ear and then downstairs. Ella focused her hearing and heard Elena's car exiting the driveway. Ella narrowed her eyes at him which signaled for him to continue.
"Katherine's back," Damon said. Ella's eyes widened and her mouth gaped open. "What?!" She finally said. Damon nodded. "Yeah, she cut off Uncle John's fingers last night pretending to be Elena. Fooled me." Damon sighed. "Is he okay?!" Ella asked, a concerned look on her face. "He'll be fine," Damon said. He took a seat on her bay window.
"Wait, what do you mean she 'fooled you?" Ella put up air quotations. A look of nervousness fell over Damon's face. "Damon, what happened when she was pretending to be Elena?" Ella demanded. "We kissed."
And with that, Ella's face fell. She had searing pain in her heart but she didn't understand what it was. Could it be jealousy? No. She only saw Damon as a friend. She sat down beside him and drew circles with her thumb around her palms. "Do you love her?" She asked shyly. Damon wanted to say something but he couldn't, he was at a loss for words. His silence spoke enough.
"You do," Ella concluded. Any other person would be surprised, but Ella wasn't. Elena always had something about her that drew people in, for starters she was beautiful, kind, compassionate, and she had natural confidence about herself. Ella had always experienced this growing up. Elena was the favorite twin, favorite sibling, favorite everything. The brunette couldn't help but feel she was overreacting. She thought it was selfish to be thinking about herself at this moment. "I'm sorry. I know it must be hard, seeing her with Stefan."
They stared at each other for a moment before Ella sat up and began to walk towards the door. "Where are you going?" He asked. Ella put on her coat and opened the door, "I'm heading over to the Lockwood's, for Ty's dad's funeral service." Damon nodded and sped towards her in a blur. Ella quirked a brow. "I'm coming with you. The Sheriff and the newly found Mayor is going to be there, they'll trust you if they see you with me." Damon responded. The two exited the home together and made their way over to the Lockwood's in Damon's car.
They both arrived at the front porch where Tyler was greeting guests. Damon walked right in while Ella stood in the doorway, held back by the threshold. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me." Ella groaned. "Ella, what's wrong? Why are you still standing there?" Tyler asked. Damon and Ella shared a look. "Ella, seriously, just come in."
"Thank you, Tyler." Ella shook his hand and smiled. Damon and Ella walked hand in hand towards the Mayor and The Sheriff who were sharing a heated argument.
"What are you implying? That he was one of them?" Carol spat.
"No, no. No one's implying that." Damon cut in attempting to break up the argument. Ella attempted to hold in her laughter as the women continued to argue. "Your deputy screwed up, plain and simple which makes you responsible." Carol pointed a finger at the Sheriff. Ella clamped her hand over her mouth, desperately trying not to laugh.
"Carol…" Damon attempted to interject.
"Your husband is the one who helped John Gilbert execute his idiot plan in the first place." The Sherrif scoffed.
"Liz.." Damon tried again but the two were paying him no attention.
"Someone got my husband killed." Carol's eyes fell and her voice became softer. Suddenly, this was no laughing matter to Ella anymore. She knew how it felt to lose someone you cared about deeply. "We're all on edge here. You've suffered a great loss. The whole town has. We have to stick together, okay? Trust each other, we'll get through this." Damon comforted the ladies. Ella was shocked about how genuine he sounded. He had changed.
Carol and Liz nodded. They suddenly noticed the presence of Ella and their entire demeanor changed. "Ella." Carol smiled, shaking her hand. "It's wonderful to see you again," Carol said. Ella nodded and shook her hand back with a smile. "It's lovely to see you, Mrs. Lockwood." Ella directed her attention towards Liz who gave her a knowing smile.
Suddenly, a man appears and steals Carol away from the group. They engage in a conversation while Ella, Damon, and The Sheriff watch. "Who's the guy with Carol?" Damon asked.
"It's the mayor's younger brother, Mason Lockwood," Liz answered. Ella stared at the man, there was something about him she didn't like. "Is he on the council? Like John Gilbert was when he rolled in?" Damon questioned. Liz glared at him for mentioning it in front of Ella.
"It's fine, Sheriff, I know everything. My parents told me when I was younger." Ella said. Liz looked over to Damon. "She can be trusted," Damon reassured. Liz sighed before continuing. "He's nothing like John. For one, he's not an ass. He's not a believer either. He wants nothing to do with the council. He's too preoccupied finding the perfect wave." Liz explained.
"Thanks," Damon said as Sheriff Forbes walked away. "See you."
Damon and Ella stared at Mason with suspicion.
A brunette who looks identical to Ella walks towards the entrance of the Lockwood house. Tyler stops her and grabs her hands in appreciation. " Hey Elena, thanks for coming. Come on in." Ella overheard Tyler say. The girl enters the house with a smile. Ella turns to Damon who's eyes are scanning the crowd. "I'm gonna go find Bonnie. She's gonna need to explain why a non-vampire was taken down by a mystical vampire torture device." Damon stated.
Ella nodded as Damon stalked off into the crowd. A few moments later, Ella strikes up a conversation with some guests. Ella's finger trails around the roof of her cup as her heightened hearing picks up on a conversation between Bonnie and a familiar voice.
"I know who you are." Ella heard the Bennett witch say.
"Of course you do. You're the best friend right? I've been putting all the pieces of Elena's life together. Isobel told me it was a bit of a puzzle. I do know who Jenna and Jeremy are and I met that delicious ex-boyfriend Matt, who's sweet on Caroline, and then there's you, the vampire-hating Bennett witch. Did I do good?" The other voice questioned.
A moment of realization hit Ella. "Excuse me." She told the guests she was talking to.
Ella arrived in the room Bonnie and Katherine were speaking in. She saw Bonnie shoot Katherine a glare, causing Katherine to bring her hands to her temples, crying in pain. Katherine quickly stands up and re-gathers herself. "I've been around a long time Bonnie; you're gonna have to do better than that." Katherine attempts to grab Bonnie by the throat but Ella instantly sped in and pushed the tan-skinned girl out of the way.
"Hello, Katherine," Ella said, bending Katherine's arm slowly away from her. Katherine's bones broke in pain and she screamed out. Ella smirked in satisfaction. "You little bitch!" Katherine shouted. Ella extended her fangs and hissed, she grabbed Katherine by the throat and slammed her against the wall. "I've been wondering when I'd get the chance to rip your pretty little heart out," Ella whispered against Katherine's ear. "You deserve to rot in hell for what you did to them."
Katherine rolled her eyes, "That's what this is about, your little crush on Damon?" Ella scoffed. "I've been watching you too, I've seen the way you look at him," Katherine smirked. Ella shook her head and shoved her hand into Katherine's chest. Katherine gasped in pain. Ella twisted Katherine's heart inside her body before pulling her hand out. "Death would be too easy for you."
Ella ran over to Bonnie and helped her up, making sure she was okay. Katherine attempted to run at them but the door was opened with Bonnie's magic. Stefan stood outside the doorway.
"Katherine."
"Stefan."
"Leave them alone," Stefan demanded.
Katherine shrugged, "Okay." Katherine walks away from the girls and leaves the room. Katherine traces her finger across his chest as she walks past him. Bonnie and Stefan share a knowing look and Stefan follows Katherine out into the main room.
"Bonnie. Did she hurt you?!" A concerned Ella asked. "No, you came in just in time," Bonnie said. A look of realization came over Bonnie. "Who turned you?" Ella's mouth gaped open, she had revealed herself as a vampire. "You cannot tell Elena," Ella demanded. "Who turned you?!" Bonnie asked once again. "Damon. But I asked him too." Ella answered. A look of shock came over Bonnie's face. "Why. Why would you want to be a vampire?" Bonnie spat.
"Damon told me everything and I needed to protect myself. You have to promise me you won't tell anyone." Ella urged. Bonnie stayed silent. "Promise. Please?" Bonnie sighed and nodded her head. "Thank you, Bonnie." Ella hesitantly engulfed the young witch into a hug. Bonnie let her arms rest but then gave in to the hug.
Ella gets up and leaves to go find Damon, she sees him standing alone on the porch. She puts her foot out to take a step when Elena walks up to him. She steps back and watches their conversation.
"Hey, how are you doing?" Elena asked.
"Great Elena. Walking on sunshine, thanks for asking." Damon replied sarcastically. "Damon." Elena tilted her head at his words. "Elena." He mimicked her.
"We should be able to talk about this. Damon, we're close enough now. I really want to know how you are doing." Elena pleaded. " I kissed you; I thought you kissed me back. Doppelgänger hijinks ensued. How do you think I'm doing?" Damon said.
Whether it was petty jealousy or a need to comfort her best friend, something in Ella made her walk on to the conversation.
"Hey, Guys. What's going on?" Ella asked innocently. She took the drink out of Damon's hand and drank the last remaining bit of it. "Nothing, El," Elena said. "We're not done," Elena said to Damon. Elena walked inside the building. Once Elena was gone, Damon turned to Ella. "What was that about?" He asked, grabbing another drink off a tray. "What was what about?" Ella raised an eyebrow. "You knew what we were talking about, yet you cut in. Why?" Damon questioned. "No, I didn't. I just happened to see you guys talking." Ella lied.
Damon gave Ella a suspicious look before taking another sip of his drink. He hesitantly handed the cup to Ella, she took a swig and then handed it back to him. Yep, Ella thought, it was petty jealousy. "I saw Katherine," Ella said, breaking the silence.
Damon glanced towards her. "And? What'd you do?"
Ella took another sip of his drink. "Choked her, then I plunged my hand into her chest, and then I thought; Why should she get off this easy? And then Stefan interrupted."
A small smirk formed on Damon's face. A thing he loved about Ella is how she took advantage of being a vampire, she didn't become a vampire just to act like a human, she understood how fun it could be. A thought crossed the vampire's mind. "Why do you hate Katherine? You hadn't met her until today." Damon asked. Ella stayed silent and desperately tried to ignore the question. "Ella," Damon demanded. She turned her head to look away from him. "Ella, answer me. Why do you hate her?" Damon grabbed her wrist, causing her to turn towards him.
"I don't like abusers, okay?" Ella said. It was true, she hated abusers, but that wasn't the reason that she didn't like Katherine and she and Damon both knew it. Damon decided to let it go he released her of his grip and Ella walked into the building ─ leaving Damon's mind swarming with thoughts.
Ella sat legs crossed on the couch of The Salvatore House. She had a book in one hand and a drink in the other. Interrupting her reading, the door of the home was burst open by a drunk Damon Salvatore. "Do you wanna tell me why Elena called me ten minutes ago to tell me to stay away from you?" Ella questioned, never taking her eyes off of her book. There was no response. Ella glanced up and met eyes with a pair of sad ones.
"Hey. What happened?" She set down her book and stood up. "Your gonna hate me," Damon said guiltily, throwing his jacket onto a chair. "What? I'd never hate you. What happened Damon?" Ella grabbed his wrist but he pulled away. He walked around her and poured a drink.
"Damon. Tell me what happened." Ella demanded. Damon hesitated for a moment and then threw the glass into the fireplace. Ella marched over to him and grabbed the sides of his face, forcing him to look at her. "Hey─Look at me. Tell me what happened." Ella persisted. Damon's heartbeat slowed as he stared into the Gilbert girl's eyes. His head clouded with anger and lust.
He inched closer to her lips and took Ella by surprise by pressing them up against hers. Knowing something was wrong, she got inside his head and watched the night play through. She kissed back then pulled away once she saw what had happened with Elena, Katherine, and Jeremy.
"You broke his neck?!" She pulled back. Damon's eyes were filled with tears and guilt. "He was wearing the ring." Ella sighed in relief. "Damon, how could you let Katherine get to you like this?!" Ella shouted. Damon looked down in shame. "I'm going to kill that bitch." Ella's eyes turned blood red and her fangs were itching to break free. "Ella, calm down." Damon grabbed her hand.
Ella jerked it away causing Damon's face to fall. "I need time to think," Ella said. "Ella, please," Damon begged. She turned on her heel and walked towards the door. "Goodnight, Damon." She said before disappearing into the night ─ shutting the door behind her.
