Genesis Arc Ending Re-Imagined
POV: Axol
"Melony..." I lower my head. Why is she here again...?
"I can do it! Don't worry!"
Melony is slashing against the things that seem to trap me with all her might, but to no avail.
"It's no use Melony..." It's just no use... Melony throws her sword aside and steps closer, tears are starting to flow down her eyes.
"No! Do say that! We are so close!
I can't bring up an answer.
"Hurry up Melony! We are losing control!"
SMG4? Guys? Everyone is here to save me... Everyone is risking their lives… Why…
"Melony... we are out of time..." It's hopeless... They can only...
"There is only one way left to defeat Zero..." I can feel how my voice is starting to lose its power too. Her face is turning even more disturbed than before. It seems she instantly knew what I meant.
It hurts but it's the only way...
She only stands there, realizing what she will need to do when...
"NO!" ...she hugs me, tears covering her face.
It destroys me hearing her like that, but I…
"There has to be another way!" Melony...
"Hey, it will be okay... You can do this... You are the strongest girl I have ever known..." I need to be strong now... for her...She rubs the tears off her eyes and turns around.
A second later, to my surprise, she shows me the manga I have made for her. I can feel how my heart accelerates.
What...?
My eyes instantly discover that there was something added... My heart stops...
"Ok!" Melony added a little drawing of both of us, answering the confession I made. Feelings I haven't felt for such a long time are starting to overwhelm me...
"I like you too..." Melony says, trying as hard as she can to smile as she moves closer.
The emotions inside grow bigger and bigger until...
We meet in a kiss. Everything just seems to vanish...
No worries.
No Zero.
The world just seems peaceful...
Just with me and Melony.
...Until she stops and rests her head on my shoulder...
Why... just why now... I don't... I don't want it to just end like this!
POV: SMG4
"Mario please hold on just a tiny bit longer!"
I can see that he is having a hard time holding Zero into place more and more.
"Hm?" Mario seems surprised. Zero suddenly stops moving. We can only stare in confusion.
"Did Melony do it?" I question myself. I look up to the now motionless Zero.
"Are we supposed to just wait now?" SMG3 asks me.
"We might destroy more than we fix if we attack mindlessly."
Axol... Melony... I hope you both are ok.
POV: Axol
"No!" I shout, trying to free my hands from Zero's grip with the last bit of strength that I can muster.
IT'S USELESS!
Suddenly I feel a sharp pain in my whole body. It is nearly unbearable.
"No! Axol!" Melony seems scared.
"Get out of my mind!" I shout, using my remaining will I still have to try to push him out.
WHY ARE YOU STILL ACTING UP?
"I've come too far to just give up now! You can't break me!"
ARGH WHAT AN ANNOYING LITTLE VESSEL.
I'm feeling how the pain grows stronger, but so does my resistance.
YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE YOUR FRIENDS SUFFER.
No, I can't let him control me like that anymore. I won't accept this fate!
I know this will be my last chance!
POV: Melony
Why is Axol hurt like this? I don't want him to be hurt. I just want him to be home, safe!
I desperately want to help him, but my body just doesn't want to move. I take a long deep breath, push all the fears away and slowly make a step forward.
A few small steps later, just as I finally reach him again and want to place my hand on his shoulder, a strong gust of wind pushes me away. I barely manage to regain my balance without falling over.
Wait, it is so silent all of a sudden…
I swear I can feel my body freeze as I slowly lift my head up.
…
He stopped moving.
"Axol!" I scream.
Was I too late? W-Why didn't I do anything?
POV: Axol
Silence.
…
Nothing but darkness surrounds me.
…
I try to lift myself up, but my legs suddenly give up and I fall back to the ground.
What was I even doing…?
I DIDN'T THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE SUCH A PAIN.
This voice! I could feel anger rising inside me.
YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE YOUR FRIENDS DIE.
"No, I don't…"
THEN WHY DON'T YOU JUST GIVE UP?
I-
"Axol!" Melony…?
"Don't give up!"
I look up and see a little light exactly where her voice seems to be coming from.
Yes… I have Melony waiting for me. I can't give up. I can't give up!
With my goal set in my mind again, I focus all my strength and get back on my feet.
SHE AND YOU HAVE BEEN QUIET THE NUISANCE. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!
A loud rumbling sound can be heard from afar. A red beam of light forms in the distance. I instantly realize what he is trying to do.
"Melony!" I scream. My body acts on his own and runs towards where the beam is heading to. I prepare myself, focus on the beam and stretch my arms out towards it.
You won't hurt her!
…
Red light fills my vision.
YOU FELL RIGHT INTO MY TRAP.
Don't listen to him. Focus. Push him out!
GIVE UP! GIVE UP! GIVE UP!
"Never! Get out of my brain!"
POV: Melony
"Don't give up!"
I really hope that these words are reaching him.
I know he is still fighting. He must be!
I hug him deeply, hoping it will also help him.
A few seconds later I hear a quiet noise. I break the hug and take a step back.
I look at him and feel very confused because the things that tied him down now seem to be gone.
Did I just imagine these?
"Axol?" I ask quietly, but I still don't get a reaction from him.
ARGH!
That voice! It's coming from behind!
I discover a black figure, barely managing to hold onto a cord which seems to be connected to Axol.
My eyes shoot wide open as I realize what I'll have to do. I hurry over to my sword that I dropped earlier, run over to the cord, and take aim.
NO! The creature screams. It seems to be too busy. This is my chance!
I don't waste any more time, position my sword above my head, take a deep breath and slash it down with all my might.
I will save you Axol!
POV: SMG4
Why are they still not back yet? I really hope nothing bad has happened to them…
"Were you able to find them?" I ask SMG3, who also examines Zero's body a few meters away. He is accompanied by SMG1 and 2.
"Negative." He says as he continues his search.
I turn over to Tari and Meggy who seem to be paralyzed from all the tension.
"Don't worry we will find them," I reassure them. I also try to reassure myself at the same time.
"Eh… ok I'll take that 'Negative' back." SMG3 says as he points towards Zero. Small cracks all over his body are starting to open with light emitting from them.
This light gets brighter and brighter as more and more cracks are opening up.
Mario drops Zero's body as he needs to shield his eyes. Tari and Meggy and everyone else turns around and shields theirs too.
"Stand back everyone!" I shout, expecting the worst.
…
Minutes pass but nothing can be heard. I slowly open my eyes. Everything is covered in dust. I look from left to right and see everyone is still taking cover. My eyes now slowly move down towards the ground.
"Huh?" I wonder as I see that I'm standing on grass. Are we back?
My eyes wander up. Yes, Peach's Castle. Home.
"Axol! Melony!" I can hear Tari shout.
These two names are everything that I needed to push all the worries and sadness I- no, we all feel aside.
We all are running towards them as fast as we could as Meggy suddenly stops.
"Melony?" She asks in a worried tone.
Melony is kneeling over Axol, shaking him slightly. A few seconds later she seems to notice us and turns around.
Her face is covered in tears. We all are only able to stand there in shock.
"Axol isn't moving! Didn't I save him? Did I do something wrong?" She panics. Meggy runs forward to try to calm her down while Tari goes to check on Axol.
Please let him be ok…
We all are only able to wait while Tari sits down and takes one of Axol's arms in her shaky hands.
Painfully long seconds pass as we all wait for Tari's reaction.

Her hands stop to shake, and her face turns less tense as she tells us, "He is alive, but he isn't doing too good."
Melony starts to cry again as she hugs Axol tightly. "I saved you!"
"Did we miss something important in there?" SMG3 steps forward confusedly.
I give him an angry stare. "This is not the time to ask something like this."
Tari stands up and lays a hand on Melony's shoulder.
"I don't want to interrupt you Melony, but we need to give him medical attention fast!"
